El Mirador has become a go to spot on Sundays for us. It's particularly good when friends want to go somewhere that has solid food, where we can visit, but the service is also quick. Why the food scene in the area continues on an upward project, there are precious view, restaurants that are open on Sundays, particularly on Sunday nights. These guys seated our party of nine quickly, or super friendly and make sure everybody left full. Paragraph Mexican food in Yakima generally falls into two categories... Quick, with a little bit of grime (not in a bad way!) or sit down and a little nicer. The spot is the ladder. The portions are big, they serve really good chips, salsa, and pico before the meals, I've got a solid bar selection, and the food is routine excellent. Over the past year, our samplings have arranged from Molcajete, fried chicken and deep, specialty dishes, all the way to whole roasted fish. Truthfully, or yet to eat something we don't like! Last evening, we sampled the pollo a la parrilla - boss level stuff! One of our favorite things about it is the fact that you can substitute the rice and beans for a bunch of roasted vegetables. The veggies here are top notch as a side! This place used to be a popular brunch spot called Marty's, back in the 90s, and while I have fond memories there, they are definitely doing a good job replacing them with ones with the current restaurant. Keep up the good work!

Great food and drinks. Came here with my family and had great service. The food was given in large portions and we were very satisfied upon leaving. Atmosphere is traditional Mexican restaurant decor that is very inviting.

Why this restaurant doesn't have stronger reviews is a puzzle to me. Staying next-door we decided to stop in for dinner, not to miss the 10% discount, and found ourselves with Carne Asada that was to die for. I know that sounds extreme, but it's rare to get Carne Asada that is that tender and flavorful. The portion was huge. The other meal at the table was two DopoSopitos

As always our service and food was amazing! This place looks like a beautiful Spanish courtyard, they made tortillas in a booth that you can watch then being made. When you arrive they come right over with chips, salsa, and bean dip. Our dinner tasted amazing. My daughter got the pollo ala crema enchiladas delish! You'll leave happy and full!

    This place is awesome

Great vegetarian options in Yakima!…read more Quality: most vegetarian and Mexican places only give you rice beans and tomatoes as an option. These guys have well seasoned, actual vegetables and plentiful options that don't just seem like a taco with meat missing, butt seem like a complete food option. I got the potato tacos and the veggie burrito and both were very well done. So potatoes needed a little salt, but nothing that I couldn't fix at the table. Quantity: i'm a big guy and I eat a lot. But even I could only finish one taco and half a burrito. massive quantity! Price: $13 for a burrito that can feed 2! Ambiance: standard Mexican decor. It was clean and outdoor dining was available.

They brought out refreshing cups of water, chips and 6 types of salsa, while we reviewed the menu. The "chips" are actually whole corn tortillas fried! So you use them whole or break them into chips yourself. My guess on the salsas are: salsa verde (tomatillo), avocado, pico de gallo, a smoky ancho, a citrusy habanero, and something else. They all had distinct flavors and a little light spice, but we wanted spicier. They brought out the "no way Jose" sauce and warned us it's their spiciest and it sneaks up on ya! We tried it and found it was not burning but quite nice. We drizzled this sauce all over our food. It was the most flavorful of the bunch. The menu is quite extensive, with everything from sopas to sopes, tortas to tacos, cocktails to desserts. We each got a plate of food, meaning the main entree comes with Mexican red rice and refried beans. I got the sopita (aka sope) with barbacoa and a fish taco and husband got a dipped torta (I forget the name) filled with adobada. The amount of food and meat was quite generous, the toppings (veggies) too. I really enjoyed my sope - it had the perfect crispy crust and I could taste the slightly sweet creamy taste of the masa. The barbacoa was not as flavorful as I thought it would be. It was more like stewed beef meat. It was fine but I was expecting really deep flavor. The fish taco seemed freshly grilled and was moist, but there was a bit of a "fishy" smell and flavor that kind of took over. Thankfully, the generous veggie toppings and fresh handmade corn tortilla and salsas helped mask the flavor. Have to hand it to them that those tortillas are really good! The Mexican rice was perfect. I haven't had that flavor and texture in Mexican rice in a while and thought that was well done. The refried beans were good but also had a flavor I couldn't place my finger on... My husband said everything was really good on his plate. His torta was massive! Really flavorful and stacked with things. The adobada was very tasty. I wish I ordered that meat instead of the barbacoa and fish. Overall pretty good Mexican food, generous portions, really sweet service. The interior is also really clean and nicely decorated. They have a small parking lot out back.

The staff is friendly and efficient, which makes it an ideal spot for a relaxed lunch. The restaurant is medium sized with adequate parking out front, and if things get busy, there's plenty of overflow in the adjacent Fred Meyer lot. The restaurant is in the middle of the strip mall just north of Fred Meyer. My spouse ordered the Avocado Tostada, which was generously sized and clearly delicious--he ate more than usual. It came with rice and refried beans, both well prepared. I used to order the Cheese/Onion Enchilada plate, which includes two enchiladas plus rice and beans, and I'd always end up taking half home (never quite the same reheated). Since my appetite is smaller, I now ask for just one cheese/onion enchilada on its own. The staff never blinks at the request, and my husband happily shares a bit of his refried beans with me. My meal was perfection. Definitely worth checking out. It's not the most extraordinary Mexican food in the area, but it's always very good--better than we can make at home--and that's why we keep coming back.
