This would easily be a five star place...if it weren't for COVID-19. This area is rampant with pandemic deniers and anti-mask people, and it shows. Though there is the required signage, they make zero effort to enforce it. I went in for take out, and the crowded space had one customer out of 20 wearing a mask. And a maskless employee was standing in the middle of the restaurant singing loudly and dancing to the music on the TV. Great for them for joy of living--super bad in the middle of a pandemic. The ONLY person who wore a mask was the one who took my order, and they only put the mask on when they came from the kitchen to the counter to wait on masked me. No other employee wore a mask. Customer entered, exited, and moved around freely without masks. Customers who were done eating and having animated conversations at their tables wore no mask. No capacity restrictions are in place. It's probably just the town because the local police arrived to eat here as we were leaving. No masks. That's all very sad because the food here is great. Had a carne asada taco and a abobada torta (sandwich). The only issue with either was they were pretty greasy. Nothing horrible, but definitely greasier than they needed to be. I saw some of the other dishes on various people's tables, and they looked great. The torta had two salsas, a green tomatillo one that was the bomb and an orangish habanero one that was also great (but hot). This small town has an abundance of Mexican restaurants. We looked at several before selecting this one, but we had no idea about the lax mask and other anti-pandemic measures before we entered. I'd return for the food, but I probably won't because they obviously don't care about their customers' lives. I plan to eat my way through the large assortment of Mexican restaurants in this little town. But this one is off the list. read more

A little background.... I found this little gem during my 7 week clinical rotation and every week I would be impatiently waiting for them to open up every Thursday ( they start their business from Thursday to Sunday). Their a la diabla camarones are as fresh as you can get!!! I have been to many fine dining excursion but I cannot not rave enough about how good their shrimp taste! Perfectly cooked every time... and the sauce ... Omg the sauce... it's just on point.... The spices, the flavor, the heat....They can turn up the heat if you want as well (warning: when you say you want it spicy... it is full throttle spicy!) The flour tortilla... there's something special that they just do right here... it's a lot thicker than what many may encounter and they are piping hot... absolutely delicious to sink your teeth in. The ambiance is what you would expect in a small town out in the country. Service was quick friendly and fast. Very family oriented. read more

I had very good service! The margarita was decent, looked great with a little chili salt. Chips & salsa are extra, but I'm okay to pay that after the last year or two. I had the burrito and it was great! Very large portion and assembled very well. The reason I'm giving them 4 stars is they had 4-5 TV's on, I was the only person there (Thursday at 2pm). When I asked to turn some down, I was told they were all on different channels. Totally get that, but a mute button would have been great! read more

Wow! My whole family was super happy with the dinner we had from Tacos La Parrilla! We ordered take out due to COVID. We couldn't find a menu online so we called and they texted photos to our phone! Super convenient. The Carne Asada was to die for and the tortillas were fresh (we had corn and flour - both delicious!) The chicken fajitas were super yummy. We didn't take photos because we were starving but will definitely be eating here again soon!!! 10/10 highly recommend. read more

Being from Arizona it's really hard to find a "good" Mexican restaurant anywhere. You can get your normal chains but those are American Mexican and tastes so much different but this place was amazing! The waitress was very attentive but not so much to interrupt you while you're eating and always made sure we had what you needed when you need it even without having to ask. The place was very clean and simple ( perfect) and the people were great! Good selection of cervezas too!!! read more

I have never been treated more rudely in an establishment in all my life than I was today at this restaurant. Our extended family came in asking for a large table that could accommodate 10 people. The girl up front rudely said that she couldn't do that because they were going to be very busy because the H2A workers would be off and coming in soon. You could tell right away she was hesitant to serve us. I said, there is already a table that looks big enough to seat us and she said "I'm going to separate them". I couldn't believe how rude she was being. When I insisted she begrudgingly agreed and when I asked for a high chair she said "they're all broken". The music was so loud it hurt your ears and you had to yell to talk. I asked for it to be turned down a little and it wasn't. Finally, we could see that our money wasn't good there so we left and went next door to the Popular where we were greeted warmly and seated right away. I guess if you are American then you're not welcome at La Parilla. We will NEVER return and I suggest others don't waste their time here. read more

We live in Desert Aire, but love to go to Mattawa for great Mexican food. The tacos are great, as are the enchiladas. Service is good, food comes fast. Recommended! read more

Absolutely delicious. I had a quesadilla con carne asada. Probably the best quesadilla I have ever had and it was huge!! Not completely unexpected being in a tiny town but I was surprised to find that they charged for chips and salsa, which I'm used to being complementary. Service was fine. We were the only two people there but the server was very nice. Overall, happy to have found this place in the middle of nowhere! read more
