If I could give 20 stars I would! The food is absolutely delicious! I got 2 spicy pork tacos with a side of ribs and yum! Perfect flavor perfect portions. You need to eat here and have the ribs. They are soft and flavorful. My son god the plate of chicken and loved it! The service was also good, friendly people and I liked the old school Mexico decor inside. Very Mexico! Dropped in for a quick lunch. Don't let the run down exterior fool you. There's a master inside putting out some seriously great street tacos. They were out of lengua, so I subbed a pair of carne asada alongside a pair of cabeza. This + a Jarito was a little over $10. Filling and delicious, each taco was like eating baby angels. The cabeza melts in your mouth and the carne asada (finely diced and griddled) had a great tender/crispy contrast. The salsa toppings were on point, too. The owner tends to a smoke box out the back door, and I've read great reviews on the chicken...next time! At 6'6"/250 and packin', I can handle myself, so I had no concerns on the local substance abusers (they're abundant), but this is probably NOT a place to wander around the neighborhood after dark. That said, the interior of this place is clean, the service is prompt, and the food is spectacular. read more

On my way through town, I picked this place off yelp due to the strong reviews. We show up and it looks like a war torn-area of 1980s Beirut. Homeless encampments, crumbling concrete structures all graffiti'ed up. My wife's like "no f*ckin way I'm going in there". I soldier on. Inside this unstable taco shack is a family with kids. A mom cranking out fresh tortillas and a guy doing the meats. Kids running around entertaining themselves. A very dark seating area. Anyway none of it matters because the tacos are fantastic. The rice and beans were fantastic. I spent like $14 and barely finished my food. My wife - a delicate flower type - waited in the car as suspicious characters loitered in the neighboring tent city. As far as she was concerned, we couldn't leave fast enough. Unless you are very adventurous I'd say this place is TO GO! Not a place I'd take a date for prom by any stretch. No fabric napkins and pinkies in the air. But hey -- the tacos are great! read more

Where do I begin with this review? The food! Came here based on the Yelp reviews but was hesitant as one said there wasn't seating so I wasn't sure I wanted to eat in my vehicle as we were headed to a concert. I wasn't sure what some of the cuts of meat were of the tacos, the husband & I opted for chicken, asado, and lengua (tongue). All three tacos are generously filled & they sprinkle a little onion & cilantro. I opted for the salsa on the side as I don't generally eat spicy food. These tacos were delicious! And if it wasn't a 3 hour drive I would make this my go to weekly eatery. Now.. I had seen a pic of the outside of the building so I kinda knew what I was looking for, but really it's a shabby hole in a hut. It was kinda like going back to Mexico & eating on the side of the road type restaurant that mom & pop & entire family work in. The menu is on the wall and if you want agua fresca you take a cup & serve yourself. Your taco plate is delivered to you. There is seating however there's five tables with beautifully adorned plastic over the tables and a bar with a very long continuous bench. We decided to eat in & while we waited we could see the outside from the wooden door, hence a hut. Therefore, you've been advised. However, this did not deter us as the food was excellent and the family that runs this establishment are friendly. read more

It was hard to find their new location. The building doesn't look like a restaurant so we waited for a couple of other people to go in and out before venturing inside. Super nice family running it. The salsas are housemade by the matriarch and have great flavor without overpowering and I'm talking about the habanero salsa. The quesadillas a robust and flavorful. On a recommendation from foodie friends, we made a special trip to Toppenish to go to this taqueria. We were not disappointed (though we did do other things in the area, so the trip wasn't solely to go here). We will go back. If you didn't know better, you'd think this was a dangerous and unsafe dive in a dirt parking lot along the highway. We had asada and pollo tacos - and they were fabulous. The spicy salsa was very tasty. All the usual add-ons were there, including fresh radish. The pickled onions and carrots were great, the corn tortillas fresh - and we had 8-tacos for $10 (an ample lunch for two). The interior of the building is dark and chaotic, but the owner and his son(?) are friendly and helpful - and while the owner speaks little English, his enthusiasm is contagious. This is worth a special trip - and it's a cultural experience as well as good food - you could easily imagine you were in rural Mexico. read more

I take all gringo taco reviews with a grain of salt, and yes I'm a gringo. But I'm a fat kid with a refined palate and an addiction to tacos, and after extensive taco testing throughout my life and a desire to find the Columbia basin's best taco, I have found these ones to be peerless. The tortilla to meat ratio is perfect and they are so fresh and so flavorful and so moist and with such a perfect balance of cilantro and onion. The hot sauces... The avocado green sauce is the best one I've ever had and the red sauce is so flavorful and intricately spiced that it perfectly complements the Cabeza and Asada tacos. I'm actually blown away by this place. It doesn't even have an address. Yelp can get you close. I will be making the 120 mile round-trip next week to try other things on the menu and to take home tacos. The owner, who is cool, told me that people take these tacos with them back to Mexico. IT IS CLOSED. Sadly I drove by it yesterday and the restaurant is now closed for good. I talked to some people in nearby business and they said the Yakima Nation owned the land and they closed it down. This place had the best open pit cooked chicken. Real deal Holyfield taco experience. First to all of you gringos, it is super clean and air conditioned in the place. I know you will be wary when you pull up, as was my wife, but rest assured, they even have a nice clean bathroom :) The crunchy pork and asada were so delicious. We had the chicken and carnitas as well. The BBQ'd meat was tender and not dried out like most all taco trucks I go to. Beware gringos, all of the sauces pack some heat, even the guac. My son can take some heat and he was wrecked. The guy running it was a cool dude. I wish they would open one on the Westside. Can't wait for another excuse to roll through Toppenish. Very surprised some well known food publication hasn't written about this place. Maybe it's location scares them? Looks are very deceiving here. 100% authentic family run business. The food is simple yet perfect. The grilled chicken was tender and perfectly Smokey cooked in the pit out back. The same chicken is chopped up and put into Tacos. Pay the extra $ to get freshly made tortillas. Worth every cent. The asada was also perfectly cooked in the large grill outback and was my preference for Tacos. The sauces are a perfect compliment. So much so we took a soda cup full of the habanero sauce to go. Great service from the owner too. Very attentive and explained the items on the menu in detail. WOW! This place is LLLEEEGGGIIITTT (triple legit)! Don't let the ramshackle shed that these amazing tacos are created in fool you are frighten you away, awesome fresh tortillas(super cool machine that they put the dough in that presses them and then they go straight to the flat top to cook, check out the video I attached), wood fired grill, fresh meat, delicious options, you can even get whole grilled chickens and racks of ribs. I came in for the tacos though, but will definitely need to check out the other menu items next time I am back. I grew up getting teased withe, "Give it to Mikey, he'll eat it, he likes everything" from the commercial, well, I actually don't shy away from most foods, at least to say I tried them. On this day I went for the tacos that I really have not seen anywhere else; Adovada, a spicy marinated pork, Buche , pork stomach, Trompa, pig snout, and Tripas, pig intestine. I didn't mark which was which so can't say which was my favorite, but I enjoyed all of them. If you're driving through Toppenish and even if it takes you on a bit of a detour, definitely check this place out. Live a little, be adventurous! read more

Don't be fooled by the outside of this shack some of the best chicken I've ever eaten has come off of their massive charcoal grill. Yes roadside chicken at it's finest. About $5 will buy you a massive plate of fresh off the charcoal grill chicken beans, rice, salad and fresh homemade tortillas. They have ribs and some limited other menu items but they keep it simple to what they do best. They have a fresh salsa bar and Mexican and the other standard sodas. I like bringing new people there and watching their reaction like "were not eating here are we?" then they get the food and they are hooked for life. It might not seem like Mexican food mixes with good wine, but I beg to differ. Local wines with what now is local food. And nothing better than some great BBQ. So drive down the hill to Toppenish and come to Panchos, but don't drive by it, since it's literally a shack (not a taco cart). You'll see the smoke coming up from the outdoor wood fired grill filled with chicken and ribs. Smokin' good ribs and chicken, pun intended. Get a BBQ plate with their homemade beans and rice to fill your tummy; don't forget to visit the chilled case for salsas for the top of that BBQ. Like spicy, ask for the grilled jalapeño. These were the best tacos I've ever had. I'm speechless! It sucks I live 2000 miles from this place bc I would eat here a couple times a week. What makes it even better is it's the epitome of a taco shack. The walls are covered plywood with a wood burning stove in the corner.
