I've driven by Waffle Iron in Prescott several times and always wanted to try it. From the outside, it looks like the kind of little hometown place where you'd get a really good, home-cooked breakfast. Unfortunately, looks can be deceiving. I ordered the chicken and waffles, and the chicken was basically a dried-out frozen chicken tender sitting on top of a waffle. I also tried the biscuits and gravy, which were even more disappointing. The gravy honestly tasted like flour and water poured over biscuits--bland, flavorless, and nothing like the rich country gravy I was expecting. Coffee was watered down as well. Said something to the girl and she said this is a new pot still watered down. I really wanted to like this place because I love finding little local, home-style restaurants, but this one was a big disappointment. I definitely wouldn't order either of these dishes again. we were never checked on you could clearly tell I didn't eat any of my biscuits and gravy. One little tiny bite never said anything wouldn't even look at us when she dropped the check off when we were checking out. I said the biscuits and gravy were horrible she said hold on. Walked in right when they opened, and the food did not disappoint. Our waiter was friendly and impressively enthusiastic for 6:30 a.m.--especially considering I'm usually still asleep at that hour. The food was excellent. The omelette was cooked perfectly, and they serve sweet potatoes, which is a nice change. Even better, they were seasoned and cooked to perfection. This was only my second time eating here we were visiting PRECOTT for the week and this was my only choice for breakfast. These waffles are the best I have ever had and I first tried them 2 years ago and made sure this was my last breakfast before heading home. First of all it was not clean. We ordered a breakfast bowl and a hamburger. The chorizo in the bowl was actually on a plate was gristly and the deep fried potatoes were flavorless and obviously prepared ahead of time. They got the eggs right though. The OJ was tangy and the liquid was separating in the cup - waitress said it was from a bottle and took it back. I ordered the western burger and the meat patty was exactly that - a thin prepackaged patty from a stack. It was dry and had absolutely no flavor. The onions in the onion rings were tough/chewy and difficult to bite through so I dragged it out on my first bite. No chance of biting through it. The bun was soggy 1/2 way through the meal. The salad was just warm cheap iceberg lettuce with tomatoes and chopped onions thrown on top. I swear everything was out of a bag. I don't get it - Breakfast joints are crowded whether the food is good or bad. We personally hold them to the same standards as one that serves dinner. I feel like any can serve up crapy food and survive if they just call it breakfast! This is a great example of that. If you are looking for a good homemade breakfast do not stop here. read more

This is a great breakfast place with terrific meals at good value. The atmosphere is cozy and definitely Prescott. I've been coming here for years geeeee at least twelve. And I haven't written a review! Bad on me. I ordered a cup of Joe and ice water and they were out in a flash. The special today was a Denver scramble with has browns. And a waffle on the side. Small mom n pop waffle house. Excellent service, sat right down. They have flavored coffee creamer which may seem like a small thing but for someone who hates black coffee this makes or breaks a coffee experience! They also have buckwheat waffles and gluten free waffles. Not many places have GF waffles so this was a pleasant surprise! I also appreciated the sugar free syrup option. We found this diner close to our Airbnb and decided to give them a try. We were greeted and seated right away, drinks were delivered while we were still looking at the menu. I went with the ham and eggs, everything was delicious, and big servings. The bf had a pancake breakfast, he also enjoyed the food and was stuffed after cleaning his plate. Coffee was hot and the waitresses asked before freshening up your cup. Lot of regulars, phone was ringing off the hook, since half the town is still closed and with the new 6' social distancing in place, people were just happy to be there and to find them open. My family and I typically come here 5-10 times a year for 3 years. We have known the Waffle Iron to have consistently high quality dishes, amazing service, the kindest servers, and to be overall an EXCEPTIONAL experience where we feel valued. Today we had a bit different of an experience which was disappointing to say the least! The restaurant was not busy today, it was a very slow day. We came here for the first time in 4 months today and it seemed as though the servers did not show the typical care for customers and the restaurant as usual. Things we noticed: Took ~7 minutes to get our order taken, ordered a HOT latte flight and it was served almost cold somehow.. like room temperature? Eggs- asked to be cooked over hard and they were VERY runny, literally over easy. The service seemed non-committal and as if it was a chore to serve us. Our drinks were not refilled without asking and the server could not remember what was in my father's cup. There was little to no steak in the steak bowl... maybe 3oz? On top of there only being 3oz, part of it was a completely un-chewable piece of steak or as some call "the gristle." I got a 4 inch piece of gristle. It was actually crazy I couldn't even cut it! Lastly, we got shorted $10 at the register, and had to call it out! Typically, these things aren't an issue but when they all add up it really taints the experience at the restaurant, and we walked away disappointed. We hope this doesn't happen again if we ever return, but for now it is off our list as a go-to restaurant. read more

The first time we went during the weekend, it was pretty busy. We didn't have to wait for a table or very long for food. Went here for breakfast on a Sunday morning. My friend found a piece of plastic in his hash browns, my other friend ordered biscuits and gravy and his biscuits were hard and dry.
