There was issues with my credit card and the waitress didn't use the register behind the main counter she used the one on the side and everything worked out great. Small mom n pop waffle house. Excellent service, sat right down. They have flavored coffee creamer which may seem like a small thing but for someone who hates black coffee this makes or breaks a coffee experience! They also have buckwheat waffles and gluten free waffles. Not many places have GF waffles so this was a pleasant surprise! I also appreciated the sugar free syrup option. My family and I typically come here 5-10 times a year for 3 years. We have known the Waffle Iron to have consistently high quality dishes, amazing service, the kindest servers, and to be overall an EXCEPTIONAL experience where we feel valued. Today we had a bit different of an experience which was disappointing to say the least! The restaurant was not busy today, it was a very slow day. We came here for the first time in 4 months today and it seemed as though the servers did not show the typical care for customers and the restaurant as usual. Things we noticed: Took ~7 minutes to get our order taken, ordered a HOT latte flight and it was served almost cold somehow.. like room temperature? Eggs- asked to be cooked over hard and they were VERY runny, literally over easy. The service seemed non-committal and as if it was a chore to serve us. Our drinks were not refilled without asking and the server could not remember what was in my father's cup. There was little to no steak in the steak bowl... maybe 3oz? On top of there only being 3oz, part of it was a completely un-chewable piece of steak or as some call "the gristle." I got a 4 inch piece of gristle. It was actually crazy I couldn't even cut it! Lastly, we got shorted $10 at the register, and had to call it out! Typically, these things aren't an issue but when they all add up it really taints the experience at the restaurant, and we walked away disappointed. We found this diner close to our Airbnb and decided to give them a try. We were greeted and seated right away, drinks were delivered while we were still looking at the menu. I went with the ham and eggs, everything was delicious, and big servings. The bf had a pancake breakfast, he also enjoyed the food and was stuffed after cleaning his plate. Coffee was hot and the waitresses asked before freshening up your cup. Lot of regulars, phone was ringing off the hook, since half the town is still closed and with the new 6' social distancing in place, people were just happy to be there and to find them open. This is an older diner with all the classics .. give them a chance don't let the old bad reviews steer you away. We'd definitely stop in here again on our next trip to Prescott. read more

Went here for breakfast on a Sunday morning. My friend found a piece of plastic in his hash browns, my other friend ordered biscuits and gravy and his biscuits were hard and dry. You know a place is popular among the locals when you see a packed parking lot. I was pleased to be staying right down the road from the Waffle Iron. The first time we went during the weekend, it was pretty busy. We didn't have to wait for a table or very long for food. My chilaquiles were almost like eating a taco salad but with egg instead of meat. It was a new take on it that I enjoyed. The last time we were there I made the mistake of letting the waitress know that we are from Tucson, 3-1/2 hours away. On a $97 bill I left a $20 tip.
