This is one of the best House's in Winston. Friendly fast service, they always have a good cook working. Check out the eggs in my photo upload, I always order eggs Sunnyside up W/crispy edges and I'm usually met with a sideways Glace or a "that's impossible" message from the cook. Stopped in on a Saturday morning with some friends for a birthday. It was busy and we had a large-ish group, but they were able to figure out a way for us to get two tables by each other. They put candles in our friends waffle and really went above and beyond for us. That waffle always slaps. They accommodated me getting half chocolate chip and half plain waffle. This used to be one of my favorite breakfast places. I went today and ordered well done eggs. The first eggs didn't look done so the server said she would have them redone. The second ones was still not done. So she offered to have them done again. Finally done eggs. My daughter asked for the manager who came out and told us if we if we want done eggs just have to say "extra" done eggs. Who knew. read more

First off our service was amazing and so was our waitress. But the food seems to have gone way down hill along with the menu options. I didn't see any fries on the lunch menu. Just hash browns. We went in the evening after bowling since it was close. My friends breakfast was pretty good. I got a chicken sandwich and it made me sick. It tasted like cooked frozen chicken that was not warmed/cooked all the way. Was hard and chewy in spot. My partner was not impressed and it was his first time. The only positive thing about this trip was the food and even that being said one item was missing bacon and egg not cooked right. The whole restaurant was a disaster half the tables were not clean. The broom and dust pan just sitting out in the middle of the floor along with drinks that had been spilt with rags just throw on it. If a health inspector walked in they would've been shut down. My hubby's favorite stop when we visit family in Winston. While I do like the waffles, they are not thick and doughy but, rather thinner but still soft. I do no like that--The place itself is a lil' dirty. The floors in the dining area and just don't even look behind the counter. They work fast but don't stop to clean up messes. I understand that Covid has changed the world tremendously but I've never been to a Waffle House that locks down the bathroom and refuse paying customers the ability to use the restroom. We were told by another employee that customers were either peeing on the side of the building or going to the gas station across the street. We asked the shift manager could we please use it after paying for our order bc we had to go extremely bad. I had a long drive home and literally was cramping bc I had to go so bad. She replied the bathrooms are locked and closed with no empathy at all. I'll be glad when Jonestown opens back up bc they have excellent customer service. We were the only ppl in the entire restaurant. So there was no crowd. I will avoid this location completely in the future. Last but not least the same person who denied us bathroom access also cooked the food. why the hell do I have a crap load of black pepper on my hash browns??? I didn't ask for any pepper. And my scrambled eggs were over cooked to the point they had brown hard edges like a fried egg. Threw the whole plate away. read more

We have eaten at this restaurant many times and had no complaints. The service is always competent and our food has always been good. However, we ate there for breakfast on Christmas Day and were VERY disappointed. Even with the number of people in the "socially distanced" restaurant, the service was good. It was very cold outside, that day, but it was almost as cold INSIDE. The waitress brought our food as soon as it came off the grill but, by the time it arrived at our table, it was barely lukewarm. The reason for that was that the ambient temperature was COLD!! It was sooooo cold that we couldn't even take off our coats!!!! When I mentioned it to the waitress, she said that the cooks were complaining that they were "hot." She said that she had changed the thermostat, several times, but somebody kept turning it down. I suggested telling the manager, but she said that the manager WAS the cook! This manager needs to learn who is paying his/her salary. Cooking, by definition, is a hot job. The heating/cooling system is for everyone, but if the temperature is not comfortable, customers are not going to come as regularly. Regulars notice this kind of thing and will stop coming, even if casual customers continue to stumble in. I don't care how hot the cooks "THINK" they are, the manager should be thinking about their customers. STOP BEING SO SELFISH!!!!!!!!!!!! We won't be back until we can eat our food without having icicles on it!!! read more

Love this location!! They're extremely polite and courteous. Had our drinks on the table before I could even pick the menu up! Two coffees, a water, AND a sweet tea. This is the second time every visiting a Waffle House for both my husband and I... the past visit was YEARS ago. We had family in town and wanted to try them for breakfast... There were definitely Pros and Cons to this place... Lets start with the Pros: - Food was pretty good. Typical "greasy spoon" diner breakfast. My husband got this big combo which included: 2 eggs, toast, hashbrowns, bacon and a waffle. I ate 1/2 his waffle and ordered a side of hashbrowns. The hasbrowns are EXCELLENT! You have options to top them as well: cheese, onions, you name it. ~ Cost was fair. I think his combo was like $6-something. ~ Service was pretty fast and the server was super nice. Now for the Cons: ~This place is TINY and the seating is minimal... there is a whole wall with no booths, just chairs for people to wait... My thought would be to at least put in 2-person booths there OR, a counter with bar stools and people can eat facing the window. ~ Only a handful of booths, the rest are counters where you sit side by side. We had a party of 4 with a baby so we had to relay our conversation down the line. (Reminded me of that Seinfeld episode "The Maid" where they all sat at the counter instead of their usual booth and no one could hear each other and at one point Kramer misunderstood what was said and thought Newman died. Hahaha. Anyways... ~Limited menu but hey, this is a tiny Waffle House. ~You'll leave smelling like you've been soaked in a vat of grease... but maybe this is because my nose is UBER sensitive. Blah. ~ LASTLY... I WITNESSED SOMETHING A WORKER DID WHICH WAS A LITTLE OFF-PUTTING. So, the cooks wear gloves (YAY) but - I watched one go to refill their drink and while they waited, they played with the tip of the straw (which of course we all know goes in the mouth) while wearing the gloves... and then go back to work... WITH THE SAME GLOVES ON!!!!!! I didn't say anything and most likely this individual also prepared our meals... and everyone else's in the place, let's all hope we don't get sick. :-/ So all in all, a decent place for breakfast (they also had a lunch/dinner menu). The best Waffle House I've been to. Restaurant is very clean and staff is pleasant. Was welcomed by multiple employees when I walked in. Had the Allstar breakfast. It was all quite good. Next time, however I will need to better specify what I mean by over easy for my eggs. They were a little over cooked for my taste. Still good though. read more

As a start, it must be stated that I arrived about 20 minutes before day shift and there was a person doing some cleaning. But this was the only cleaning done by either shift. Food was fine and served promptly. Wait staff was friendly an attentive. The problem with this restaurant is that it was filthy. Countertops and tables had been wiped off but there was a greasy film on them. The floor behind the counter was a disaster area. An employee took a squeegee and pushed the mess back under the grill/stovetop then half heartedly hosed down the floor. The visible part of the floor was still a disaster area after this two minute attempt to clean it up a little. An aluminum bucket, crusted over inside and out, was dangling from the drain valve from the grill - and was 3/4 full of grease. Grease had dripped down the grill and stovetop drawers below, not just where the bucket was at, but all along the stove/grill top. Panels/covers under the stovetop and grill were hanging partially off. There was a dirty rag sitting on the shelf under the grill. When they placed cleaned skillets on this shelf, they just pushed the rag to the back of the shelf. There was a 1 foot by 2 foot piece of cardboard on the shelf under the stovetop covered with dried food and grease. That remained there. There were two plates of cooked bacon sitting in front of the cooktop. I don't know what or who this was destined for. It remained there the whole time I was there. All of this was left by the previous shift and was not addressed by the oncoming morning shift. I am not sure who was responsible for food preparation. The three other customers that came in had their food prepared by their respective wait staff. The restaurant has a 95.5 sanitation rating. If the Health Department were to perform an unannounced inspection that rating would fall drastically. I will not return to this restaurant anytime soon. read more
