Waffle House has become an iconic part of the landscape of the southeastern United States. These yellow neon lit buildings have fed countless road weary travelers, families with laughing children in tow, late night revelers and people from every walk of life. My go to choices are either the patty melt or one of their egg and meat breakfast options. But for me the big allure here has always been their hash browns. You can get the hash browns topped with a variety of toppings, you can't go wrong with chili and cheese, but really it is whatever talk to your heart. I guess you might find it odd that I have never had the waffles at a business where waffle is in their very name of the business but I am just not into the sweet type breakfasts. Never had a good experience at this location. It seems like the grill is never cleaned cause my hash browns are always black and taste like everything besides what I ordered. This last time, they were somehow both mushy and charred, which I just don't understand. And to top it off, my eggs were extremely gummy. I couldn't even finish it and I haven't eaten all day. This was my worst ever experience at a Waffle House. Saturday morning about 9:45 I stopped in for breakfast. I walked in and the place was pretty packed but a few seats remained open at the low bar. I took an empty seat and immediately noticed how dirty the bar table was. There was smeared ketchup dried on the table, old syrup spots, and crumbs left over from previous diners. I should have left at this point. My waitress Sofie finally came over after I had been sitting there for about 5 minutes. She just stared at me and never said a word. After waiting for her to speak, I gave her my order: All-Star breakfast, eggs over light, grits on top of my eggs, bacon cooks very light, not crunchy at all, and orange juice. I did not say anything about the waffle, which is part of the All-Star and she did not ask. After stating my order she turned and left, having never spoken. I waited. While waiting I noticed how dirty the entire restaurant appeared. There was old food everywhere under the kitchen area counters. the floor was ground in dirt, and the smells coming from the cooking were definitely unappealing. Finally, after about 15 minutes, my first plate arrived, eggs with grits on top and toast. My waitress spoke for the first time, in a very timid manner, telling me my bacon would be a few more minutes. The grits were very thick but the eggs looked ok. I cut the eggs and grits to mix them together and began to eat. The grits tasted old and the eggs had an odd flavor to them. The toast was ok but the butter tasted odd as well. I ate about half of it before I couldn't continue. About 10 minutes later, my waitress brings me my bacon. Burnt!! I told her no and sent it back, restating how I liked my bacon cooked. Still no waffle. 15 minutes later, she brings me new bacon, cooked almost to order. I asked about my waffle. She said I didn't order one. I said it's part of the meal I ordered. (I was very frustrated by this time but wanted to see how bad this was going to get.) She told me that it would be a few more minutes while she made my waffle. While I waited, I tried to eat my bacon. I got thru 1 piece before I gave up. It tasted like it had been cooked on a grill that had not been cleaned in forever. There were burnt bits of other food stuck to it ruining the taste. Still no waffle. I sat there for a few more minutes then prepared to leave. I pulled out the money for my bill and stood up to leave when Sofie finally brought my waffle over. It was a dark brown color, nearly burnt. I told her at this point no thanks, paid my bill and left. This was the third time I have eaten at this location, each episode worse than the previous. I will not be returning to this location again. read more

This is ridiculous.. waited over 20 min with only one taken table, and 7 workers out, didn't get my order taken, no drink offered, not even looked at. Finally get annoyed enough to walk to the register and get a to go order and 4 of the 7 workers just still walking around and talking. Still haven't gotten my drink. As SOON as 2 other people sit at the exact same table i sat at and waited for 20 min, got their order taken immediately. I understand being occupied, but there's simply no excuse to be this irrational. I'm extremely disappointed with this location, the only good server I've ever had here was Abby. Had an appointment at USA for 8:30 so swung by this Waffle House for a good breakfast! OOPS! The don't have it here! Got there and the place was well staffed (crowd at the grill, group of servers) and less than half full. Ordered coffee and two egg breakfast with sausage and hashbrowns. I am a professional now but worked my way through high school and college as a short order cook. I know it takes well less than 5 minutes from order up to serving this simple meal. Coffee was good. Food came thirty minutes later with no sausage. Flagged the waitress and she looked towards the grill and said "its coming". Well I won't start eggs unless I have sausage with it. SO I sit patiently for another ten minutes watching my incomplete meal get cold. Asked the waitress if it was ready. Her "no" got me to stand up, put down $2 at the cash register for the coffee and walk out. I have never done that before in my life and I have never put a online review in for anything before. I know what you're thinking: 5 stars for Waffle House? Let me explain. Obviously breakfast isn't all that complicated but between Waffle House and other breakfast centered places (like IHOP for example) I will pick Waffle House every time. They're quick, they're accurate, they're clean, and they're nice. Waffle House is one of the few places you can go in, sit down, have a decent meal, and be out of there in less than 15 minutes without having to go through a drive thru. In all my times of visiting Waffle Houses I've never had my order wrong. I feel their prices are a good value and most importantly, these people know how to make grits. I get either the 2 egg breakfast (scrambled) with grits and sausage or the Cheese n' eggs (scrambled) with sausage, grits, and toast. My mom always gets the Allstar, regular Waffle, grits, bacon extra crispy, eggs over medium. If you're looking for a good breakfast whether it's 8AM, 8PM, or 2AM, go to Waffle House. read more

Stopped here on the way to dropping our Aunt from New York off at the airport. Big mistake! Should have known better, every time I've gone here they screw something up. Today, it was multiple things wrong and a poor attitude to top it off. First off the waitress seemed put off when my wife wanted more creams for her and her and her aunt's coffee. Then we ordered the two egg breakfast scrambled soft with ham, grits, and cinnamon toast; the all star breakfast eggs over medium and bacon, hash browns smothered and covered; lastly two eggs scrambled, hash-browns and toast. The meals come out pretty fast. My wife asks what's this on my eggs? It's cheese. I didn't ask for cheese; oh, I wrote the wrong thing down. Your meats are coming. We wait and wait no meat are even out on the grill, no waffle (that comes with the All Star). Hey, where's our meat and my waffle!? Oh, I didn't think you wanted a waffle (well it comes with the All Star Right)!? Waitress asks the rest of the table do you want waffles. I explain no only I do. Oh well?! Eyes roll and attitude starts. Ham slice finally arrives as well as bacon. Still no waffle!? Wait a bit and ask is that waffle coming out? You said oh well, I didn't think you wanted the waffle. More eye rolling. Yes I want it it was supposed to part of the meal. Waffle finally arrives. Manager/cook comes over and says sorry and that he'd take 15% off the bill. I pay the bill for all three of us with a credit card and don't put a tip on it. We sit down to finish our coffee and our aunt leaves the tip in the table. Waitress starts cleaning the table off, picks up the $5 tip and says what's this. Well it's the tip. More attitude and eye rolling. It was more than a 20% tip, please! Waitress asks if we want more coffee we say we're fine. I finish my cup my wife looks for her cup? It's gone I guess the waitress didn't think she needed it. We're out of there before we get disrespected more. Worst breakfast experience to date at this less than stellar location. If I could leave no stars I would!
