This Waffle House was the weekend spot. Nothing spectacular, but the food was reliable. I like getting my waffles dark and less soft. The bacon can be inconsistent at times, but I'd never mind. Every Waffle House is practically the same. The only difference that sets them apart from each other is their servers, waitresses and cooks. This location isn't bad. If I lived in the area I would revisit. Food- bomb tasting as always Waffle- 4/5 ordered chocolate chips on it, they forgot and placed the plate on my table. Once I mentioned it they brought the plate back, sprinkled choc chips on it, and returned it to my table. Well now the choc chips aren't going to melt and that's my only complaint. Customer service is rarely an issue at any Waffle House so I'll give them a 4/5. Thanks Melanee thank you Pati! first time in this location with kids and grandmom! New server was awesome but other server says she is the manager. Melanee took great care of us and was so sweet! Kept bringing more refills before we got empty. Like right on the mark haha my mom drinks a lot of coffee and I noticed Melanee in corner watching all tables! Mom was very impressed! Pat was so attentive and we saw her continue to ask Melanee for help. She helped every time. My sister's & I visited the Thorton location yesterday at12:30 in the afternoon. Without a welcoming greeting from anyone, the cook told us they weren't taking any more orders. And to return after 2pm (when it's advertised as a 24hr spot). So we tried the location on Illinois Ave. We seated ourselves and noticed it was dirty. Shortly after we were told we had to move to another table. So that was our queue to leave. Since we had our hearts set on waffles we went to a 3rd location the one in Mesquite. Here we were greeted by the cook, the manager & our amazing server Shanna. Who is polite, respectful and attentive. The food was delicious and the restuarant was very clean. Shanna also gave us referrals of must try restaurants in Texas being that we are visiting from Long Beach California. Shanna is an asset to this establishment. Came in around midnight after a bad storm that knocked out a lot of restaurants power but they were open unlike other restaurants near by, so of course they were packed! Luckily we weren't in a hurry, you could tell the employees were stressed dealing with ppl having alot of attitudes. But we were understanding there was only 1 guy cooking like 40 meals and 2 waitresses, there wasn't much they could do about the wait. Yesterday we visited Waffle House for the very first time. We are from California and wanted to try something other than IHop or Denny's. We walk in the door and the woman, I guess she was the hostess told us she would be right with us. We go to a table and it was hard to choose because the tables were either dirty or had flies hanging around. I noticed the three people working there were just standing around talking and gossiping. Not one person came over to wipe down the table, hand us a menu or offer us a drink. I noticed the kitchen area from my seat and I saw food all over the floor, items dropped under the counters and just a general disregard for cleanliness. They just don't care about anything here. We left after 20 minutes, no service, no acknowledgement, and dirty. We ended up going to IHOP across the street. read more

Oh boy... Waffle House Now I know most everyone here is not looking for a review of this place. If you have ever been to one, you'll know it's a short-order cook type place - breakfast and burger type joint. And most reviews of these type of places are going to be if someone has a bad time. Like myself on 4/9-10 @ 11:40pm arrival. Upon entering there were 6 tables and 4 bartop areas available albeit non were cleared from the last patrons. My "server" (in quotes for a reason which we will get to...) Spoke up and said "sit anywhere" we'll clean it off for you as she was training someone AND cleaning dishes at the same time. As I chose a spot, I was standing next to someone spoke and said hold on, don't sit down at a dirty table we will clean that, then left. I assumed to go get the buser to clean off tables. As I stood there for 15 mins (Now about midnight) I still had not had anyone clean off a table. As most waffle houses, there are 9-10 tables and 6 bar-top places; so 3 tables of customers were seated as well as 2 bartops occupied. From the 6 employees on staff, only the person doing dishes and training someone once again noticed me standing there. She offered a semi-clean spot at bartop, and stopped dish cleaning to immediately wipe down my area and put up the skillets that were drying. Now in the next 15 mins, I sat there awaiting a menu. Two to-go order customers came in within that time span and gave their order at the register. Again, my waiter that was assigned had been told I was his table, yet no drink order nor menu. The dish cleaner again noticed I had not been assisted, and she took my drink order while her hands were full, had her trainee wash her hands and make my chocolate milk drink as she then got the attention of my waiter. Who asked what I wanted and I asked then for a menu. I made my decision in about 3 mins, the super special. The waiter took my order, was what SHOULD have happened. Instead the trainer saw I had my milk but was being not paid attention to, dried off her hands once again, grabbed the pad and wrote my order. Then told the waiter she already had gotten my order placed it and that he had another table now for him to get. She stated my order correctly, while he was writing it down. Oh, finally the other tables are cleaned for more customers who were waiting (Now about 40 mins after I arrived) My order came up, and he delivered most of it. I ordered the "Special" which was $9.50 - 2 scambled eggs, I added an additional 2, grits, ham, and a waffle. I got everything but the waffle... I ate it quickly. Now there is no reason to comment on the food, for it was typical quick-order fare. I had already drank my milk, and not once was I asked by my waiter if I needed another or anything else (I had wanted coffee as the second beverage), did not ask me if I wished for anything else; and had already put my ticket down at my presence. Needless to say, the ticket was wrong... Did not have my $3.00 chocolate milk, had a $7.75 charge instead of the $9.50, and did not add-in the additional cost of the added 2 eggs. I said not one thing. The disher had told him EXACTLY what I ordered, and yet he did not write it down. That Waffle House lost about $6.50 profit because he did not listen, wasn't attentative to the customer, and had better things to do. So I got up and stood at the register... And stood, and stood... GUESS who dried off her hands once again, and took care of my payment. Now, this review would only be 1 star, except for Ms. TRINITY. She cleaned my table spot, took my drink order, my food order, and processed my payment. SHE got the tip, he got 10% which is the same that Waffle House adds to a typical To-Go order. I felt like I had ordered to go, and ate it onsite with the service from that waiter. I handed her cash, because ONLY she deserved it. He can share his with the other staff. Note to Day Manager: Trinity deserves a promotion. She would make a great over-night manager. She was attentive, could multi-task, and had a great expedite mindset to assist a customer when it is obvious that the rest of the staff is falling behind. Don't go here. Place is dirty and food is sub par. Only went here becuz i hop parking lot was full. So I ordered a waffle. Big mistake. It was as flat a pancake and had no flavor except for the pecans. Syrup bottle was sticky and cold. I also asked for well done side of bacon. This was even a bigger mistake. The bacon was burnt on the sides and not cooked on the ends. Then it was served on a plate with a pool of grease. I told the waitress I couldn't eat this and she started to argue with me. Avoid this location, I have been eating at this location since the 90s. And has always been awesome and clean. I would usually go about 3 to 4 times a week. Not anymore. I noticed that the last few months or so. It has gone down hill. I always eat here after work. Around 1AM. I walk in. The place is packed with a bunch of ghetto saggy pants type of people. It took 45min to get a table. And then when we are seated notice the table had not even been cleaned or anything. Took the waitress and additional 10 minutes to come take our drink order. 30 minutes later the table still has not been cleaned nor our orders taken. I finally reach over the counter and grab a dishrag and clean the table myself. I ordered my usual double hashbrowns two eggs over medium. And bacon with toast. 45 minutes later. I get half my order. Still waiting on my eggs and hash browns. 15 minutes later it finally arrives but by this time The first half of my food that was brought out turned ice cold. Staff needs to spend less Time telling each other there life stories. And more time cleaning the tables and paying attention to orders. I now go to the store on hwy80 and belt line. read more

My daughter was hankering for Waffle House's jalapeno biscuits, so we went here.NEVER again will I go to this location. Becky was our server, and grant it, it was too busy for one person to work solo, but that doesn't give reason for her to hand a spoon she had just dropped on the floor to a patron. Everything seemed dirty,felt grimy. We wiped the table and menus down with baby wipes. I counted 11 used as I was stacking our plates and putting the used wipes and napkins together. Our food was lukewarm to cold when we received it, and our waitress was told several times "hot food up". She couldn't have thought that was for another server, since she was the only one, mind you. I had my food nearly eaten before I got my water, which the cook got me. Our ticket was written up for regular priced plates/items, and not the specials we had ordered. No surprise, they were too busy to change it in a decent time frame. the kids were getting antsy, so we paid and left. We said this was a good tactic to bring in money (only one server and overcharging), otherwise they'd probably be closed. One thing I do need to praise the waitress on is she doesn't give a place setting with knives in it to kids. They get fork and spoon only. She almost wasn't tipped by us, but we did leave $1, and as we were walking out noticed no more than $2 on each table. With the orders from those tables, I'm sure $2 wasn't the standard tip. We finally decided to seat ourselves.. we asked two servers to give us a wet napkin or a towel to clean some syrup that was on the table .
