Waffle House has always been reliable in my opinion. However I think the menu has changed recently. I recalled their different omelettes highlighted and steak and egg dishes for breakfast in addition to multiple types of sandwiches for lunch. None of this was present at this visit. I chose a grilled chicken sandwich and it just didn't deliver the "punch" I wanted in a diner dish. I may just have false memories but now I'm on the fence when it comes to Waffle House. Haven't been to Waffle House in years and decided to stop here on a road trip in town. JP was our server and that man is absolutely amazing. Our drinks never stayed empty, our food was served warm & everyone was happy. There was one mixed up with an order and it was immediately corrected by JP and the best part was they didn't even charge us for it. I understand mistakes happen and the staff at Waffle House fixed it immediately. That type of customer service you don't find hardly anywhere nowadays. Ordered a steak and eggs and it was cooked absolutely perfect the eggs were Sunny Side Up and perfectly runny. Also ordered a cheeseburger and that was served perfect as well. I guess it was supposedly amazing because picky child ate it within 5 Seconds lol she completely cleaned her plate and left not a crime to be found. We also had a order of the patty melt bowl which consisted of crispy hash browns mixed with onions topped with hamburger patty & sliced cheese. This was super yummy and very fulfilling. Throw some Tabasco sauce on it and it was absolutely the perfect breakfast. Waffle House is your typical old school American diner type restaurant. If you're watching calories this is definitely not a restaurant for you but if you want some good hearty food and a little bit of nostalgia then this is the perfect restaurant for you. read more

I've been a customer of this location for as long as I can remember it being open. First of all in the state of Texas businesses have the right to refuse service to anyone but asking someone to disarm themselves in order to get service is discrimination. There is no proper signage posted that constitutes legal enforcement of prohibiting weapons on the property. Having a no firearms sign on the side of the building over 30 feet away from the door does not constitute proper signage to inform law, abiding customers that you do not firearms in the building. I.e.. Texas Code 30.6 and 30.7 in reference to concealed or open carry of a firearm in a public place. The statute must be properly posted in a visible manner, preferably near the doorway so customers can read it. Sections 30.06 and 30.07, Texas Penal Code, give private property owners some options in how to convey notice to LTC holders. But if the private property owner chooses to post a notice, it must comply with the 1-inch block-letter, contrasting color, and other requirements specified in Sections 30.06 and 30.07. read more

Go ask for JD! I was very indecisive this morning. The sever JD didn't let that interfere with the great service we received this morning.! He was patient and made several suggestions. The dining room was clean and the staff could be seen chatting and laughing. The atmosphere was very welcoming. We shared the veggie and ham/cheese omelette, hash browns, and grits. The Waffle House is my go to breakfast for a road trip. What can in say, I love a pecan waffle! The Honey & I share the All Star Special. I get the pecan waffle with scattered pecans. I hate when I get the waffle and all the pecans are in the middle! The cook at this Waffle House actually scattered them. Pecans in every bite. The Honey's eggs were over easy and perfect! The side order of city ham had a nice little charred edge. We ordered a double order of crispy hash browns. In all the years I've ordered crispy hash browns I've never gotten them. Consistent food made in front of you quickly. This place is always clean ... seems to be well maintained & takes care of first responders. Our service has always been pretty good here. We don't come at peak "waffle house hours" so maybe it is different when the bars close. Great value for comfort food. read more

Hadn't been here in awhile since I moved, but came for the holidays with my gf. We came twice. Once we came at brunch time I had the All - Star breakfast: One huge waffle, 3 strips of bacon, 2 eggs over medium, a huge serving of hash browns, and 2 pieces of toast. Ordered coffee as well. I was so surprised at the price of that breakfast, under $7! It was cooked well, the waffle was a little darker than I'd like but was still very soft and tasted great. My gf got the biscuits and gravy which was ok she said. The waitress was very attentive, we didn't wait that long to be seated, served or to get the check. The second time we came a few nights later, well actually at 1 am after a couple beers. There was a group of 5 of us. It is very difficult to seat a group over 4 because all they have are booths that seat 4 or the counter, which is usually full. But I got a waffle with 2 sausage patties. I also ordered a coffee that I never got. I didn't remind her about it because I realized how late it was and decided not to stay up another 2-3 hours but still found it on the check. When I told her about it she looked over at our table as if to see if I was lying. So basically not only did she not remember to bring my coffee, but she didn't even remember NOT bringing my coffee. Whatever, she took the coffee off in the end and I still tipped her more than she deserved. The food was ok, but as I was paying I saw the cook put a sandwich he was preparing on the counter...yuck for that person. Lesson I learned: Even though Waffle House is awesome for those late drunk nights, it's better to come during the day: better service, better food. We stopped in at 10:30am on a Saturday, and it was packed. Party of 5, so we sat in a booth with an extra chair pulled up. They were bussing tables quickly to move folks in and out, and the food was delicious. Despite the hectic nature of our visit, our waitress did a good job of keeping our glasses full. We love this place! We usually go early saturday mornings (like 5am early). The girls in their are wonderful, polite and courteous. We love walking in there and having them recognize us, makes it feel a little more homey and a little less like a table number :) unlike a lot of breakfast places who want you in and out. Horrible service. Waitress too busy flirting with 20 something punk kids to take care of customers. Food took forever and each person's food came out at different time. Don't get the pecan pie. Just go to grocery story and buy a whole pie. Coffee was good. I asked for a refill and she says she just brewed a new pot. All while pouring the rest of the old crap in my cup.... not sure why I wasn't worthy of the fresh pot. I know it's just waffle house but my kids love the place. There isn't one near us. I've been living in Longview for 6 years and had never been to the Waffle House. My friends/family and I would always do IHOP simply because that's what we're used to. Well on Saturday night we decided to go against the grain and try Waffle House and I'm so glad we did. The service was super prompt and everything I ordered was good. I had a steak, eggs, grits, hash browns(smothered with gravy and onions), bacon and toast! Yes I pigged out!!!lol. But the server was really nice. The only thing I didnt like was the fact that the table wasn't clean. That's a NoNo! But all in all I enjoyed the atmosphere and the establishment. I'll definitely be back! read more

They used cheap sliced cheese on our omelets and the waffle was flat as a pancake. Good service and decent coffee, though.

I stopped in about 8:30 and had a seat at the counter, the server brought the menu and took my drink order. She brought the drink and asked if I was ready Told her sorta ,but I had a question. as I looked down at the menu and ask my question she walked off to another patron. We stopped in at the Waffle House after seeing that IHop was too busy that morning. I figured that they were probably about the same anyways. I was wrong. When I ordered the strawberry waffles I thought how that could differ. Well it did. The strawberries were "powdered bits" of something in my waffles, covered up with whipped cream. Can we say "yuck"? Their biscuits and gravy dish is probably the best I've had. Quick and friendly service and they offer military discount which is pretty neat. Sometimes they are a little backed up in the kitchen but it's pretty worth it. I would definitely return to the Waffle House. read more
