All Star Special / 1 golden brown waffle, 2 sausage patties, 2 medium eggs, 2 pieces of toast, grits - 5 ! Black Coffee / 5 ! I was in Texas in early April for a vacation and one of my bucket list food places was to finally visit a Waffle House. I have heard about them for so long, I knew I had to go and try it out. In fact, it was the first place I went after I landed in Houston and picked up my rental car. This location was easy to get to and there was a lot of parking (where I am from parking is a big deal). The restaurant was quite busy when I was there for a late, Saturday breakfast, and was smaller than I had been expecting. I liked how the kitchen area was right out in the open. They had a lot of staff on hand and everyone I talked to was friendly. The service was fast and the food came out quickly. I had the All Star Special breakfast platter. I found out later from a Waffle House expert friend, I should have ordered a special gravy-covered side dish but the grits I had were nice. The two eggs were cooked perfectly and were just how I ordered. The sausages were salty and tasty. The real star of the breakfast was the waffle. It was the size of a dinner plate and was extra tasty when combined with their whipped butter and syrup. It was a golden brown, crispy waffle with a soft, chewy center. The coffee was nice and strong. I was even offered a refill in a to-go cup without asking if that was possible. I had already had my fill but loved that they asked. Overall, my first (and currently only) visit to a Waffle House was just what I had hoped for. A great plate of breakfast food, great service and a friendly, fun diner. I would go to another one if the opportunity came up. Also, I found the prices were very reasonable!

I ordered the" All-Star Special". I got the waffle, two eggs over hard, ham & grilled tomatoes.

Southern staple. Casual ambience to grab breakfast. Our waitress Mama Shelly was a sweetheart. Ordered the "All- star special ". Lots of food, for such a great price! Love the efficiency of the establishment.

This was our last food stop in Texas before flying back home. I was so happy to see a Waffle House in Houston since there were none in SATX and ATX. It was take out only however the full menu was available. There was a lot of staff working and it appeared there were trainers mentoring new employees. The staff was very nice but our order was so wrong. My bf ordered steak and eggs and they gave him steak and toast. I ordered a waffle with eggs and hashbrowns, which was correct but they didn't pack any butter or syrup for the waffle. There was a winter storm out so I did t want to go back there in 24 degree weather but luckily my boyfriend got me syrup. If dine in was available it would have been all good. I wish the staff double checked the orders before we left.

I came to Waffle House this morning. I was greeted and told where to stand to pickup my order. After standing there for 3 minutes, one lady tells me that I had to order online. WHAT ??? Then a second one verifies that I have to order online. This is Totally UNACCEPTABLE. And I'm mad as hell. My last visit will be today. Too Lazy to take orders because it's a little busy. I'm Very disappointed with this place

Great breakfast, but the overly loud music and banging dishes and people yelling over the music is very over stimulating. Hard to enjoy

I had a cheeseburger with onion rings and a handful of the fried mushrooms and fried zucchini slices. My wife had a burger with tater tots. The burgers at Bill's are so good. The buns are buttered and lightly toasted on the griddle, the burgers are big and cover the entire bun; they are cooked to medium but are not dry at all. Sides were piping hot and tasty. Ice tea is home brewed and as usual, drinks are self serve but the food is brought out by the lovely server we have seen there for so long. About the only thing that isn't perfect is the way that TXDOT did the sidewalk in front, it used to be all open for vehicles to pull in and park but when they redid the road and widened it the made an entrance/exit at both ends of Bill's property and with the raised sidewalk it makes parking your car in the front spaces a bit hard.

Our server did not have much insight on any favorites, choices or menu items, as admittedly "she doesn't eat their food." Perhaps she has a specific diet and hates taking orders. She skipped right over me and took everyone's order before me (males) even though I was speaking to her. I really dislike when someone says that as they should know it's not good for business, however I simply take it as they don't like their job or is not sociable. It was the first time for my whole family, as we've skipped it many times for its parking lot neighbor--cheddars. (Please keep doing that). Black Bear Diner is a mediocre, moderately priced, cookie cutter dining experience for breakfast and lunch. It has a large menu of mostly same named breakfast/dinner all day menu kind of set up. Food comes fast, pancakes apparently come with no butter. The blackberry lemonade was enjoyed by my family (it is VERY sweet and I don't enjoy sugar), the pancakes portion to bacon ratio is poor, the white cheddar bacon mac n cheese has the same skimpy bacon ratio; is very forgettable and may have the same supplier as Panera bread's Mac in a bag. Now the star of the show, the bear sized chicken fried steak, is normal sized. I inquired if I'd gotten normal by mistake and was told the normal portion was about the size of a (tiny woman shaped hands in a circle demonstration--about this big). The giant steak is how we landed there in the first place--I've been wanting to try it forever. However, that's the takeaway. I wanted it, I tried it, I do not crave it and won't be going again. We really wished we'd ate at home that morning. This is not a get out of bed or a desired dining experience. In fact, I found it annoying to wait in line to pay for something you are in a hurry to get away from. They bussed us out of there while I was still picking at the burnt hash browns and something tells me that black bear makes its money just before cheddars opens at 11. Sleep in and skip this place, especially if you're hungry as a bear

We try to support local Kingwood are restaurants and hadn't been to Union Kitchen in quite a while. We arrived and asked for a table for 6, the dining room was busy so they said it would be a few minutes. Then 3 more of our group we hadn't expected arrived and the hostess quickly let the servers know to make our table larger. We only had to wait 8 or 9 minutes and were seated in the side dining room which was great as it was not crowded so it was easy to talk without a lot of ambient noise from the more crowded main room. I believe one of the assistant managers began taking drink orders as our designated server was finishing up some tables nearby. She had a great sense of humor and quickly went to get our drinks. FYI, they have both an All Day menu and a lunch special one which we hadn't seen before a their website so that is an option and is a bit less expensive with smaller servings than the All Day one. As it was April 15, they had a special small Tax Day menu where everything was prices at $4.15! What a cute idea! We all ordered our lunches and soon we were enjoying what was brought out. I had the special lentil soup and the blackened salmon tacos, my wife had the 1/2 lb classic burger and the house made potato chips. Everything was excellent. Glad we stopped by for our group lunch.

We saw it online and loved the vast menu selection so we thought we'd give it a try. From the exterior, it doesn't look like much almost looks like you could be walking into a craft store or a boot barn cause it's just in a shopping mall strip center. But once you enter inside, the dark wood, the wine bottles, the lighting all creates a very nice ambience of an upscale restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised. We were just grabbing a bite to eat before a movie and this place turned out to be much nicer than me. I previously anticipated. We decided to order off of the Happy Hour menu so that we could try several things. We got the queso dip of course...because, when in Texas...We also got the crabcakes and a cheeseburger with truffle fries. They had some great drink specials, but we got ice tea instead. That was plenty of food for two of us to share. Out of the three items that we ordered off the Happy Hour menu, I would say the cheesburger was the best! The bun was small enough to not be overwhelming and the meat had a very nice barbecue taste. The crabcakes were OK as was the queso. Our waiter gave excellent service! Can't remember his name, but he was tall and I believe had dirty blonde hair. The entire meal was super yummy with excellent service and convenient. Couldn't ask for more. We definitely recommend this place. We wanted to get beignets for dessert, but we were too full to order anything else. Oh and if you go at Happy Hour, even if you're not drinking, everything on the Happy Hour menu is 50% off. Check it out!
