All Waffle House places are similar but this is one of the best ones. The food is yummy like most Waffle Houses but my favorite thing at any restaurant is always the service and this place had perfect service. The vibe was great in here and even though it was Christmas Day and they were super packed and busy (bc it's the only place open and so many go to these this day) the servers were still in great moods and served kindly. Today we went to the Waffle House on Caldwell Mill Road! This has always been my family's "go-to" Waffle House, because the area seems safest. The others always feel like we'll see a crime.... Anyways, we went at about 7:15 pm. It was empty and super quiet when we walked in, but the staff members were friendly. Waffle Houses always have a pretty "classic diner" feel that is welcoming and nostalgic. One of the employees ended up playing music on the jukebox--Ed Sheeran, specifically (not sure if silence was better, but that just has to do with my slight disdain for Ed Sheeran...). Our waiter was chipper and helped us figure out what we wanted to order using clarifying questions. For drinks, we got a Pibb and an apple juice. My partner got the Sausage, Egg & Cheese Hashbrown Bowl, I got the Chicken Melt Hashbrown Bowl, and then we split a Chocolate Chip Waffle! After we ordered, it started to fill up with customers, so I guess we came at a good time! Our food was out in maybe a little over 5 minutes! The food was hot, fresh, and tasty--the matchstick hashbrowns are a fan favorite at Waffle House. We both loved the menu items that we got, and the waffles are easy to share. When walking in at lunchtime yesterday, someone was walking out and said don't waste your time. We should've listened. The three of us stood inside the front door up against the glass for about 15 minutes without even being acknowledged. There were 4-5 occupied tables, and 4 open booths, but they were completely full of dirty dishes. Not one employee made eye contact with us, ever. The person that came in just before we did, sat down at one of the dirty booths, but ended up leaving after about 10 minutes. There were four employees and they were all talking rather loudly about how they couldn't wait to get off. All four cluttered booths were still the same way when we left. It was a pathetic experience. I've never seen that level of apathy in a restaurant. read more

BEST of all the Waffle Houses. It's more in a residential area. You won't see any arguments or yelling by the customers. The clientele looks they all have jobs and dress appropriately. The staff always acknowledge you when they walk in the door. I'm thinking all the customers actually tip at this one. The customers treat the staff appropriately and don't act they are owed something. If I lived in northern Shelby County.. 280 area, Vestavia, Hoover.. need to try this one. I eat at a lot of waffle houses, Center Point being the absolute worst one. The one in PC beach 98/90 interchange is good, but that's too far just to eat breakfast. Calera one by the interstate is good. Irondale and Trussville, depends on who's working that day. read more

I love Waffle House a waffle lot! We came at around 11 pm and the service was slow because there was a concert at Red Mountain and this is the second closest Waffle House to the amphitheater so a lot of people from the concert came in right after us. Average experience. I learned that the ham egg and cheese biscuit is very bad, ruined by the large bone that comes with a large bone in it. I also encountered a small bone shard that hurt my tooth. Wanted to leave this here in case anyone wasn't aware that a "decorative" bone that seeps marrow into your biscuit is in the ham egg and cheese biscuit. All other food was good but my mouth really hurts and I really don't like bone marrow juice, so I can't leave more. I have had country ham from Waffle House before and it did not have a bone in it. I almost forgot. My All Star Breakfast To Go came without a waffle and I had to go back to get it. read more

I don't often times brag about a location, however this location has won a special place in my heart. The food is immaculate and for it to be such a simple one stop shop for all of the necessary breakfast ingredients that we need, you want be disappointed. The ambience is your typical waffle house, however the music is welcoming and inviting and has a huge diverse selection of music. The staff are friendly and they are very welcoming. The food, I cannot express how breakfast taste, but let me try. if I had to scale this from a 1 to 10 it will get a 15 everytime. the grill master is always on her toes and she serves every meal as fast as they are ordered. After cleaning off the dishes and trash off of our own table. We sat down for about 10 minutes before the lady that was working took our order then we got our food (cold from sitting in the window for too long) I helped myself to some mayo packets and then asked her to give us some peppers for our hash browns because we ordered it and didn't get them cooked in our hashbrowns. Asked her for plasticware and it took her ten minutes to give it to us because she was busy running the whole waffle house by herself. This is by far one of the worst restaurant experiences ever. I understand that she was by herself is why the service was poor but that is the problem. They should have more than one person working at a time. At least two of them. Please do better. read more

My two friends and I came into this Waffle House around 11. They took one of our friends orders but not mine and the other friend I guess because we weren't ready, so they came back around and took our orders. I never got my food because the cook started getting frustrated and arguing with the waitress. We said we would just take what we had and go. I still paid 20$ and didn't get food. This is the first time I've ever experienced something like this in any Waffle House I've ever been to. This Waffle House I grew up going to and this is sad. read more

This is a great location as far as easy to get to from our home. When they first opened this location the staff was on top of everything and they had great food. Unfortunately, as time has passed they seemed to have had a very high turn over in their late night staff. This has also led to much longer wait times and a dip in both food and staff quality. Hopefully they will get some good employees, so they can turn the store around. read more
