This one always stays crowded but, this was a great time to come here... The food is good especially when you want breakfast instead of lunch here... But when you're in a hurry, and don't want to eat breakfast from a fast food place, this is an good place to be...

Waffle House is my favorite 24/7 breakfast place on the East Coast. I can count on two things here: 1. Good service. 2. Good waffles and custom hash browns. This Columbia area Waffle House met those expectations. Went here on a Sunday Morning before the after church lunch rush. Immediately greeted with tat friendly Southern Hospitality. Our waitress sat my friend and I at the counter. Got us our coffee and placed our order. My go to comfort food here is a pecan waffle and hash browns. Golden brown and soaks up the butter and syrup, making it really delicious on each bite. Hash browns custom made to your taste. I enjoy a large serving Covered, Smothered, and Peppered. Covered with melted cheese, Smothered with sautéed onions, and peppered with spicy jalapeños. Glad I orders the large and not the Triple. It was just enough. If you walk away hungry you're doing it wrong. Service was excellent! Our waitress sensed that weren't from Columbia so she made us feel welcome. Had a good conversation about the city and how good of a time we were having. I would rate most chain restaurants a 4 but this day the experience was a 5. Or maybe I feel this way because I spent the past week doing Army training and this is so much better. Eh who knows. Cover and smother your day with Waffle House deliciousness.

I love Waffle House but they have a walk up window now and the doors are locked. It says 24 hours but it is not.

Pawleys Front Porch is a dive bar, and has been featured on an episode of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. We arrived about 15 minutes after they opened, and were the first to arrive. Even after us being in the restaurant for an hour, only two other parties arrived to dine. It honestly felt like a ghost town, and hope that it is not like this every day. Their fried pickles are actually pretty good! They are crispy, hot, and have a good dill taste (good pickles). The chicken tenders are good! They aren't frozen, are crispy, and have good taste. The burger was supposed to come with a pretzel bun, but apparently they haven't had a pretzel bun in three years lol. Why is it still on the menu? We don't know. His burger was a bit overcooked and toppings weren't quite as high quality as last time. Our server was wonderful, and constantly came around to refill our drinks and get us anything we need. It did take a bit of a long time for our food to come out, but that's alright. As long as the food is good we don't mind. We hope to see the restaurant return back to how good it used to be!

I went inside and said, " excuse me sir" he barely turned around. I continued with, " my husband and I have been sitting outside at the bar for for a bit now. " "Well. You were just out there so I was wondering if you would please take our order?" He fully turned around this time and glared at me and said in a rude manner and loud voice, " Yeah, when I get a second chance!" Then turned around and went back outside to deliver the others ( that he did not blatantly ignore) their drinks. I walked outside and told my husband we were leaving. Unless you do not want to be served, want to be treated like you are an inconvenience when you politely ask to be served, and to deal with dirty conditions( I would steer clear from this place!

Buttermilk Fried Chicken (4/5): Decent fried chicken. I didn't expect it to be a boneless breast. Dark meat would've given it more flavor. The potatoes were flavorful and creamy. The collard greens were too acidic for me. Cornmeal Fried N.C. Catfish (3/5): The catfish wasn't anything special but the grits were very good. Lots of flavor and good texture. The collard greens were too acidic for me. Fried Adluh Yellow Grit Cakes (3/5): Would've been a lot better if it was fried more and had a crispier exterior. The herb goat cheese was good, but there was a little too much of it. Loved the roasted garlic (great for spreading on the complimentary bread!) Buttermilk Fried Shrimp (2/5): Only came with 4 shrimp. The shrimp itself wasn't very meaty and it also wasn't fried long enough. I'm pretty sure the kids licked the bowl clean. Kids Chicken Nuggets - 6 crispy nuggets with a side of choice. Thick breading but good portion and taste. Crinkle fries were a bit hit for this little one. Enjoyed the fries with ranch. Lone Star Brisket Sandwich - Smoked brisket, house-made pickles, and slaw. Brisket looked delicious but was a bit dry and lacked seasoning. The pickles, slaw, and BBQ sauce delivered the moisture and flavor. Smoked Half Chicken - Smaller chicken quarter but tender and moist. Still lacking flavor counting on the BBQ sauce. Had the mac-and-cheese and fries as a side. Mac was cheesy but again dry. Saint Louis Pork Ribs - Good portion but again on the flavor - heavily reliant on the sauce. Sweet tea was perfect and the pickles were delicious! Service wasn't the best; refills were hard to get. I think next time we will avoid a chain and find a hole-in-the-wall establishment.
