I mean it's Waffle House, there's not a whole lot more to say. We visited in the evening and typical to any of the "good" Waffle House locations they have an evening shift character employee. The cook is extremely outgoing and engaging. It was fun to watch him going about his responsibilities while singing a tune or two. Waffle House is to the South, what George Webbs is to Wisconsin.

Service was very fast. Entire staff was friendly and welcoming. Inside was like any other waffle House.

The food is great. (Especially the grilled cheese) the service is awesome as the food came here quickly. The place is pretty clean too.

I assume this also improves the speed in ordering and in the kitchen.

Maybe I came on a bad day or something. But honestly was not good. Biscuit was best part but the…read moregravy was super unflavored for sausage gravy. Even adding the salt and pepper packets they gave didn't help much. Asked for the chicken patty but got what, I think, was the steak (looked like sausage patty but was not sausage at all). It had no flavor either which was a bummer for the add on. The eggs were ok, just scrambled with some butter added in. Service was best part, girl at the counter was really nice, made sure I had salt and pepper and utensils in the bag before I even asked about. It's a drive up place and is quaint, I generally like these kind of places as they were common when I lived in Arkansas and went to Oklahoma a lot. Clearly this place has a lot of good reviews so things are good here, just feel I maybe went on an off day.

I love this place. We somehow manage to work two visits into each trip. I always get an egg and…read morecheese biscuit and a coffee. My husband gets one of the biscuit combos. The biscuit is made fresh. The toppings are pretty standard for fast food, but that isn't an issue for us. We've learned to share the tots as one bag is more than either of us wants alone. This is an inexpensive breakfast spot that we crave each trip to Blue Ridge. The shop is cute with mirrored diner siding. The walk up window and drive thru are always busy, but we've always gotten our food quickly. There are a few picnic tables out front by the parking spots, but this really is a grab-and-go restaurant.

Within several minutes after ordering a…read moresimple BLT and fried chicken platter, a couple came in and was seated at the table right next to us. The couple clearly knew the hostess and several waitresses. Ten minutes later, the couple had their drinks, their 2 orders of fried chicken and a basket of bread on their table. We were still waiting on our food. Half an hour later, we still did not have our food. The couple next to us finished their meal, and even got a to-go drink. We asked our waitress what was happening, and she said they had a lot of take out orders. Ten minutes later, it was pretty evident that we weren't going to be served our food. We left $5 on the table and the waitress apologized with no explanation. The hostess wouldn't even make eye contact. We wasted almost an hour sitting there waiting for something that was not going to happen. I don't think I've ever been treated like that in any restaurant. I highly would NOT recommend Pete's Place, unless you know the staff and then you will be treated better. Been coming to Blue Ridge for years and will give other local restaurants my business.

My server was pleasant and covered a lot of tables. She tackled it like a pro without making me feel neglected. I ordered a side of bacon with cheese grits and a half order of French toast. The bacon was thick and salty. The grits were delicious because they used shredded cheese versus a slice of American cheese product. They were firm and not soupy. The French toast was essentially a slice of bread cut in half so I was a little disappointed in that. In addition, it was undercooked but tasty with a sprinkle of powdered sugar on top. I asked if the corned beef hash was homemade or canned. I loved her honesty as it helped me make the decision to forgo it. It's a quaint family owned restaurant that is a good place to stop for breakfast. Expect simple and you'll enjoy it.
