My mom and I visited Ohio for one week and I was DETERMINED to visit a Waffle House so I was beyond thrilled when my motel turned out to be within walking distance of one. We visited three times. Very nice staff. There was one lady working my first visit (who was excellent at giving my mom a much-appreciated, patient, listening ear) who was only on staff one of the times I went. Saw her at the nearby Walmart some days later and she recognized me and said hello. Very warm and welcoming. Sad I didn't get to see her again. Wish California had waffle houses! They seem like so much fun and all the staff I met were very nice to me and my mom. Hoping the employees are safe every night, as I'd be told there'd been a shooting not long before I visited. :( Miss this place a ton now that I'm back home. I've visited many Waffle Houses and am used to some rougher edges around service and cleanliness. Still, consider myself a rabid fan of the brand. This location really missed the mark though. Visited on a Sunday mid-day and it wasn't especially busy. There were a couple of empty booths awaiting cleaning. We went to sit at the counter and the salesperson told us she would clean off the counter in a moment. We said "ok", assuming that she meant that she'd be clearing and wiping the counter momentarily and we'd just sit there without putting our stuff down. When we moved our hands from the counter and remained seated, she repeated her statement and, with a crass tone, said she wanted to clean it before we sat down. Ok, we said, we'll stand up and wait behind the seats. She then proceeded to run around the kitchen and dining areas, telling people to clean areas of the kitchen, refilling drinks, etc. but not clearing or cleaning the counter where we intended to sit. This carried on for about 10 minutes - leaving the counter still messy well after the previous customer had left and while we stood awaiting a spot to sit down and get ready to order for ourselves. Wound up leaving after 10-15 minutes of standing around waiting for a countertop or table to open up. Several other tables sat uncleaned while we were there. Unsure whether staff was overworked or just lazy but there was definitely an unfriendly attitude all around. Waffle House is usually a little lower on the quality scale but more than make up for it with friendly attitudes and efficient service. Definitely not the case at this location. read more

I normally see thousands of Waffle houses down south. I even at times see Waffle House restaurants being featured in movies and music videos. So of course, I finally gave this restaurant a visit. I had to see what the big hoopla is all about. Well upon entering the restaurant you wait to be seated and I'm not sure if you pick your own seat when one opens up. Or one of the many busy employees direct you to your seat. But my group ended up finding our own seats once it became available. I think there should've been more assistance in this situation. Once seated service was really good and all of our questions answered. There's nothing fancy about the Waffle House. I picture this place as a old school diner or even a truck stop for breakfast. Glad I finally tried the place, but I wouldn't return Waffles- I enjoyed the flavor of the batter. We walked in ( 2 people) and were told to sit where we wanted, we sat down and it took our server 20 minutes to come over and greet us and get our drink order. It took another 10 minutes to get us our drink and take our food order. We got our food relatively quickly and it was good as always. Service was horrible and I am pretty sure our server was high. This Waffle House ranks in the top 10% of all the Waffle Houses I've eaten at. I like to get here right after the drunks leave and the morning crowd starts arriving. This particular location has always been clean and staffed with friendly servers and cooks that know the difference between an egg that is medium and one that is over easy. I'm really vanilla when it comes to breakfast it's either a waffle or pancakes with bacon or an all America. Breakfast of eggs, bacon, grits and toast pretty simply and always well done here. The coffee is better here than most locations I've been to it must be the water, Akron's water supply comes from surface water (lakes verses well water drawn from the aquifer). Pay attention when pulling in you can drive right by the driveway and it's a pain coming from the opposite direction I'll leave it up to you to guess which direction that is. read more

WOW. JUST WOW! Ordered a chicken biscuit...used to be $3. Now $5.25. Almost 100% increase. Then charged a 53 cent "to go" FEE, which most places don't charge. On top of that, a 53 cent "supply FEE" was charged for the wrapper. If that wasn't bad enough, TAX WAS CHARGED ON THE FEES! read more

If I could give this Waffle House a negative 5 stars I would. It's 1:30am We waited for 30 minutes, we were told we would have a waitress soon, and we were the only 3 people there. We were super polite and got no service. Another LOUD group walked in at 2:00am and got served promptly. I motioned to the waitresses and they ignored us. I just had enough and just walked out with my husband and friend. We are now (2:26) down the street at Denny's, where we are getting service, great food, and treated like actual customers. Me and my two Sons eat at this waffle house on our way home from anNBA game. The Food was very good we all had steak, hash browns and eggs with wheat toast. The service was very good and with a smile. Our drinks were a variety a coke, a milk and a coffee, coffee was delicious as usual. The atmosphere was somewhat loud due to the place being crowded but it was the breakfast rush. The restaurant was clean. We always have steak and eggs with the hash browns. I was compelled to come here because the name Waffle House is constantly referred to by hip hop artists. As is typical of most roadside diners, the place was a bit cramped and the menu items, although priced affordable and served promptly, ranks below Denny's in terms of quality. They make waffles with chocolate chips, waffles with fruit bits, burgers, sandwiches, sweet tea, etc...the typical diner. The meal was edible, but incredibly greasy. In light of this, it would be prudent to consider other dining options in the area, such as Panera Bread or IHOP. By the way, notice that I refrained from using the word 'food' on this review; mainly because it isn't even food as I understand the definition. read more

It's a busy Saturday morning but we snagged a couple spots at the bar. We had a number of minutes pass before our order was taken but that wasn't before I heard one server complain about not getting raises and another about having to do separate checks for people. Needless to say this didn't start out on a high note. I didn't have high hopes for a Waffle House but this one had 3 1/2 stars so I was trying to think positively! When you are lucky enough to be near a waffle house.. so we stopped while in neighborhood. 2 pm and we ordered breakfast served hot and cooked in front of us .. we sat at "bar". Service was good. Attentive asking if we needed anything else. Yes... a couch for a nap! I had requested bacon well done and that's what I received cheesy eggs and shredded hasbrowns. Fiance had sausage patties and scrambled eggs and hasbrowns. He was pleased. My wife & I eat at the Arlington St location several times a year & have usually had good service. However about 3 Sunday's ago while waiting to be seated we noticed the guy busing the tables & seating people was spending more time talking to the waitress. When a table for 2 was open for quite some time I asked why we couldn't sit there he told us that the waitress in that area didn't want more customers then. Really! Why couldn't another waitress that wanted to work wait on us? Was there a manager there? Did they know that customers were being ignored? Does corporate know of their philosophy? If there's one thing I love more than dessert, it's breakfast. I can eat breakfast any time of day, too. Lunch, dinner and the obvious, breakfast. What does Waffle House sell? Breakfast - all day long. Cheap, good, hot diner breakfast. With waffles. You can get add-ons to your hashbrowns too. It's like Christmas every time I encounter one of these on my travels. Being from the south, I'm a bit of a Waffle House connoisseur. Just ate here before our flight out and felt compelled to review. Best food & most well-run Waffle House I've encountered in a long time. The hashbrowns that we ordered crispy were perfectly so, and the bread on our sandwiches was toasted & buttery, not soggy at all. I have such conflicting feelings about this place. On the one hand, my expectations are not set that high when I come here to eat. Typically, I stop in to eat a quick breakfast meal after working the graveyard shift when the emphasis is not on quality, but on quick service. With that being said, there have been a few times when various aspects of the service here have been mildly irritating. I've eaten here on multiple occasions, which has given me a pretty good sampling of what the service and food quality here is like and I'll do my best to capture it below. When I visited this place semi-frequently a few months ago, I often asked that they top my omelette with chili. For some unknown reason, a variety of servers kept forgetting to fulfill that request. However, on one recent occasion, I was happy to have found a server who remembered this request without being reminded of it. Despite that, one of the cooks showed me a large pot of chili and asked me what I thought of how it looked. I looked at it, shrugged my shoulders, and told him it looked fine to me even though I wasn't really in the mood to be giving such culinary opinions to the cook. I then learned that the cook who posed the question had been asked (by his manager, I'm guessing) to discard what he had judged to be chili that was too old to serve. The cook had solicited my opinion, in part, as a means of defending his view that the chili was still good. I'd rather not be involved in such intra-employee debates, yet I simultaneously appreciated the honesty with which my opinion had been solicited. It was an awkward encounter (to me, anyway), but I didn't detect anything abnormal about my food. I suppose that's the ultimate barometer. Many of the servers and cooks have been conversational with me at this establishment. On the one hand, when the employee is socially adept, it has given the place a hint of good, old-fashioned hospitality. On the other hand, when some servers have lacked social graces in their attempts at conversation, their failed attempts at being friendly have caused discomfort instead of ease. All things considered, this is the Waffle House. If you've been to one, you've probably been to them all. The chief value of a dining establishment like this is not its pizzaz; it's the functionality. The place is open 24-hours a day, every day of the year, which is why FEMA administrator Craig Fugate uses the status of Waffle Houses nationwide as a barometer for how badly a community has been ravaged by a disaster. What the Waffle House lacks in social graces, it makes up for by the sheer fact that is it works even when it's half broken. And for that, I salute the Waffle House with three stars. read more

I Tried to call in a to-do order. The lady said they were "extra busy." She said that if I wanted to place an order I'd have to come in and place the order. The problem I have with this is it completely defeats the purpose of having a to-do order. I don't see how placing an order there helps them be less busy. read more

so... first off let me say that we went here (2 friends and I) at 3 am after a long concert. we were really obnoxiously drunk.... we went in and were really loud and obnoxious (I'm sorry Waffle House employees again!) but we had a great time. I run 2 restaurants and both are open late, so I know how much trouble late night staff can be but the staff was the best staff I have come across in a longgggg time. they knew we were wrecked and still had a great attitude and actually held full on conversations with us and joked with us (as well as other patrons) I wish I would have gotten the employees names so I could make this more useful but like I said, I wasn't in the sober mind set. there was a white woman maybe in her 40s and an African American man maybe in his late 20s. they had a great time with us and actually made it known. the whole time we kept apologizing about how obnoxious we were but they kept saying no we are great and we are fun. we were only in town for the night and we are so glad we came to this Waffle House. they actually even gave us a big "hash browns with EVERYTHING" plate to go to nurse out hangovers in the morning. it goes without saying we tipped them very generously. just wanted to say thank you guys for that great night! it was 6/22 a Monday night.
