Finally made it to Ido Bar & Grill for Lobster Fest after hearing so many good things, and now I understand the hype! We had reservations and arrived to a fully set table waiting for us. There was a small hiccup with drinks taking a while to reach the table, but the manager noticed and immediately stepped in. The food was outstanding. We shared the Lobster Stuffed Mushrooms, and I ordered a lobster tail with a cup of Lobster Bisque. The bisque was rich, creamy, buttery and legitimately LOADED with large chunks of lobster. One of the best I've had. My lobster tail was huge, tender and perfectly cooked, with none of the rubbery texture you sometimes get. Even better, the melted butter comes to the table kept warm over a candle. Others at our table had the Lobster & Steak Alfredo, which came loaded with big pieces of lobster and beautifully seared steak. I attempted to sample said steak, but my girlfriend apparently considered it a protected resource. Lobster Fest genuinely felt like a little coastal seafood experience in the middle of Akron. Great first visit to Ido, and definitely not my last. I'm already looking forward to trying their regular menu and other seasonal specials! read more

Have you ever had a meal that you're STILL thinking about days later? Yeah. This was that meal for me. I've lived in the Akron area my entire life and have known about Ido Bar & Grill for more than 20 years. And somehow, in all that time, I had never been inside. Not once. It just never really caught my attention. Then Lobster Fest happened. My boyfriend started seeing their ads all over Facebook and got curious. He asked in a few Facebook groups and on his personal page if it was actually worth trying, and the response was pretty much unanimous: GO. So we grabbed another couple of friends, made a reservation, and finally walked through the doors. First impressions? I was genuinely surprised by how large the restaurant is inside. It's beautifully decorated, comfortable, and has a completely different feel than I had pictured after driving past it all these years. I started with the Summertini, which was delicious, but honestly...the drinks were just the opening act. THE FOOD. I've only ever had lobster once before--a tiny bite that I remember being surprisingly good. I'd never had enough to actually order a full lobster dish, so I decided Lobster Fest was the perfect excuse to change that. My meal came with a side salad and I'm a huge fan of White French dressing so I was very happy to hear that was their house dressing. The salad was a nice blend of greens with fresh shaved cheddar and delicious house made croutons! The salad was a great start to my meal!!! For my entree, I went with the Lobster & Steak Fettuccine, and I am so glad I did. The portion was HUGE, and the Alfredo was exactly what I want Alfredo to be: rich, creamy, cheesy and loaded with garlic. And there was PLENTY of it. No sad, dry pasta happening here. The steak was seasoned perfectly and cooked just right, and there was a generous amount of lobster throughout the dish. Every bite was better than the last. And apparently, I wasn't the only one at the table making good decisions. The Lobster Bisque was absolutely packed with lobster. The Lobster Stuffed Mushrooms were delicious, and my boyfriend ordered the lobster tail and was completely obsessed with it. Basically, there wasn't a bad decision made at our table. The funniest part of the whole experience is realizing that I've apparently been sleeping on a fantastic Akron restaurant for TWENTY YEARS. ‍ I'm honestly a little annoyed with myself. But I intend to make up for lost time. We'll absolutely be back--not just for another featured menu (a lot of people suggested their Mardi Gras menu), but to work our way through the regular menu, too. After one visit, I already have a list of things I want to try. So, Ido Bar & Grill...you've officially gone from "that restaurant I've driven past for 20 years" to "why the hell didn't I come here sooner?" Apparently, sometimes it takes a Facebook ad and a little peer pressure to discover what's been right under your nose the whole time. After years of living in Akron, I somehow missed eating at IDO. Here's a place that's around since the 20s and I consider myself knowledgeable about the Akron food scene. 5 o'clock on a Friday the place was 3/4 full and everyone was smiling and just having a good time eating tremendous family style food. My dining partner had prime rib and just raved about it. I had a burger with some chipotle, mayo, and stacked with onion straws, and I ended up with some great onion rings on the side. There were a few other things on the menu that I wanted to try like the almond salad. We also had the firecracker shrimp as an appetizer. I definitely would go back. This was our first time ever dining here. We heard about it via Facebook and since I love lobster and they were having lobster fest, we had to check it out. From the outside, it looks like a typical bar and grill. Inside, is very nicely decorated and the staff was very friendly and attentive. We started with drinks- orange margaritas and they were tasty and boozy. Next, I ordered the lobster bisque. Let me tell you, as advertised, it came with lobster meat! I ate an entire bowel! The bisque was creamy just like I wanted it. Next, the lobster stuffed mushrooms which were DELICIOUS! Plenty of cheese, garlic and butter and...yes...LOBSTER! Lastly, I had the lobster and steak Alfredo and it was Amazing! Very creamy and cheesy. It came with spinach in it and the steak was tender. The lobster was cooked perfectly too! I couldn't eat it all because it was a big portion but I ate it the next day and it tasted even better reheated! If you are in the area, stop in there. You will be happy you did. read more

Stopped in to try a burger here since it was in Akrons best burger tournament. To be honest, I've no idea how. It was bland and had no flavor. For what I believe was $15 it felt pretty unreasonable. We always enjoy eating at the Ido Bar and Grill. We went on a Thursday and they take $5 off the comfort food. The pork was pounded, breaded and fried. It was delicious. The mashed potatoes were warm and came with beef gravy. The green beans were okay but nothing special. Service was great and atmosphere warm and inviting. read more

I came for lunch on 2/3/26, left Margaret a generous $10 tip, and ordered Kate's cobb salad to have for dinner that night. When I got out the salad later, there was no salad dressing. I called to report it, they didn't answer their phone (they rarely do), it was cold and dark, I'm a senior citizen, live 30 minutes away, wasn't about to drive back downtown, didn't have any dressing at home, and had to eat my $18.99 salad dry which, by the way, had very little chicken on it. The next time I was at Ido was 2/27/26. I told the bartender what happened and showed her my receipt. I asked her what they could do to make things right. She had to call Steve (owner? manager?) and rather than give me a credit or another salad, he said I should have returned the salad and then, get this, he offered to give me salad dressing! Like what am I supposed to do with that, wise guy? Rub it on my face? I've always liked the food at Ido but I'm definitely not in a hurry to return since the management doesn't care about its customers. So heads up! Ido is a local neighboorhood restaurant and bar established in 1998. The exterior is very plain but the inside is nicely decorated and the staff is very friendly and provides great service. Prices are good and food is good. It isn't high end cuisine but is a great place and has lots of repeat customers. Give Ido a try if you are in the neighborhood. read more

Ido Bar and Grill is exactly what you would expect it to be. It is old and the decor reflects that. We were there on a weeknight and it was about half full.. I chose steak and it was quite good and very fair for the price . Not sure if they were short of staff, but the waitress was rushed and kept apologizing for the delay, which was about 45 minutes . Really good neighborhood bar and grill. We recently went on a Saturday for lunch, and were extremely pleased with our meal. Mozzarella Wedges, Pierogi's with sausage and onions started off our lunch in style. Their mozzarella wedges may be the best in town. The pierogi's were, well, pierogi's. Not the best I've ever had, but still solid. And c'mon, they are still pierogi's!!! I had the prime rib sliders and my wife had a burger. Really, really good burgers here btw. Shame on the Ido! We've gone to the Ido for years but tonight we were refused service because my husband has a service dog. We were told they don't allow service animals. This ridiculous and shameful. Also it's illegal to deny entrance to a service animal. Our server was courteous and helpful despite forgetting a drink (which he did provide later for free). Two of us tried the burgers they were supposedly famous for - they weee not bad but also not good. The special blend really didn't have much taste and was well down without any juice. Seems very greasy spoon on the interior upon first walk in but staff was very friendly welcoming and on top of it. The menu was huge so I asked for a recommendation from the server. She said they make their own corned beef. Being honest, I was like "there's no way and it's prob terrible." Boy was I wrong. It was very good. I wanted another helping. As a former employee, I worked here for about 4 days before walking out. The kitchen is pretty yucky. Cooks do not wear gloves or regularly wash hands, even though gloves are provided, and the cooks have been there for 10ish years. They haze and harass the younger dishwashers and say foul things to them, they're extremely rude to the female serving staff. When the owner leaves the cooks start drinking alcohol on the line while handling customers food. The place is poorly operated. I started working Saturday, the owner neglected to have me fill out employment paperwork until after I quit. There's no one to handle scheduling or anything past the owner who just comes and goes, and handles business whenever he decides he wants to get around to it. I worked here for 4 days. The man pays me for ten hours. I sent him my logged hours in a text because I was never given any type of time card or anything, he never read my text and told me that he asked around and came up with a number. I explained to him that I sent him the hours in a text as I was there filling out paperwork, he told me he'll look into it and maybe next week....... So if you enjoy washed up cooks that cross contaminate your food by not using simple food safety techniques due to them flat out not caring and being lazy, and an owner who wings it in the kitchen and makes up for it from bar sales.....then this is your place read more

Came down to Akron to see a show at the Civic Center and when my friend suggested this place to eat at beforehand I was a little hesitant, but boy I am happy to report what a pleasant surprise Ido's was! Four of us dined on things like chicken paprikash soup $1.99, prime rib sliders $10.99, the pork chop special, a burger and fries, and the Sonoma chicken. All of us enjoyed our meals. I loved that I could get more than just french fries with my order of sliders. Sometimes you just want a green vegetable that isn't deep dried. The sliders are spicy though so watch out for those Hungarian peppers! Also, I thought my sliders were a bit dry so I got a side of the brown gravy to dip them in and that really helped with texture and taste. There were several things on the menu that I wanted to try out so I will definitely make the drive to eat here again! This place reminds me of a diner back in my hometown that I worked at in high school. Simple good comfort food. No high prices. A-Okay service. Very unassuming.
