First time in and we will be back. We are always looking for new breakfast restaurants and I think this place hit it out of the park. I ordered the breakfast bowl which was a combination of hashbrowns, eggs, and sausage gravy. My wife ordered the german fry. Both dishes tasted great and was served quickly. Awful! We accidentally ended up at this place when we were trying to go to Broken Egg Cafe. This was one of our worst breakfast experiences! I ordered steak and eggs on a baked potato. The potato was grayish. My son got the California Benedict which was supposed to have avocado but instead just had some greenish guacamole squirted on. The hollandaise sauce was crusty and the whole thing was cold. My wife got some black tea that was foamy and milk that was sour, and clearly expired. The server was okay except when she asked us about our meals we told her the truth and she just gave us the check without any apology or offer to make up for it. read more

We have had breakfast here before several times and it was very good,but it has been a couple of months since. Today we decided to go there again and it wasn't good at all . I had biscuits and gravy, gravy was very watery and the sausage in it looked like they took patties and chopped them up in big chunks, it came with hash browns that weren't edible, they tasted like old grease. My husband had stuffed French toast with berries it said and it had about six pieces of fruit and I tasted it wasn't very good French toast either over cooked very crunchy. The waitress never asked why I didn't eat the hash browns or how our food was I should have spoken up I need to start doing that so at least they can make improvements. We won't be going back though. Tucked away behind Grinders on Whipple, you'll find the Cracked Egg Cafe. It's got a big dining room (split into two rooms) with patio dining. There's also a little bar as well. First time here. They have a big menu, with lots of options for breakfast and lunch. I went with a skillet type meal. Hashed browns topped with a split biscuit, sausage gravy, two eggs and cheese. For starters, the "hashed browns" were actually more like breakfast potatoes. Which is fine; but I was really in the mood for crispy hashed browns. The biscuit and gravy were both decent. And the cheese was good. Also there was some bacon mixed in as well. I don't remember reading that, but maybe I missed it. And I'm not gonna complain about unexpected bacon! The biggest miss was the eggs. I asked if they could do them over easy instead of scrambled. She said no problem. However when they came out the yolks were fully cooked and hard. I was wanting that gooey broken yolk all over the meal effect; but definitely didn't get it. Not the end of the world, but not really what I asked for. Lastly; and I hate to mention this part... but there were flies. Not like, one. Lots of flies. At my table alone there were four to five different ones flying around. And once you see one land on your plate, it's kind of a turn off. I know flies are notoriously hard to eradicate, but you have to try. Based on the experience; and the bevy of other breakfast options, I don't see myself coming back here anytime soon. read more

Came here by accident, we were hungry and figured we would try it out... but we were very pleased with the decision! Our server was Jess and she was great. Helped with options to pick and gave recommendations, she kept our drinks full and checked in often to make sure we were ok. I ordered a appetizer of pretzels rods which excellent! Then I ordered the "Big Breakfast" which I under estimated by far.. the amount of food could have probably fed 3 people!! Pancakes were great and the sausage patties are made here fresh! Went here for the first time--LOVED IT! Went around 10:15am on a Friday and very surprised it's not busier! Service was great--we had Jess. Coffee was delicious. Food came quickly! Tasted delicious! This was a super cute place. They are trying really hard. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. Orange juices was cold and delicious. Hubby's decaf coffee was fair he said. First cup was good, but second cup had an off taste. Our Breakfast entrées arrived quickly, and were what we ordered. Hubby had The Scrambler, and he was very satisfied with his meal. I had French toast, and it was delicious. We enjoyed everything except their music selection was a bit over the top for breakfast. We would have enjoyed something a little more quiet. read more

I really like this place! Of course, we do try to hit it at non-peak, usually 10-11 am or so after the breakfast rush is over. We've been here twice and had great service both times. Great location with the warehouse feel inside. I've had the scrambler and my favorite sausage gravy on biscuit. Both were delicious. Definitely a place to try often. Place was mostly empty when we got there. We were seated right next to the exit so every time somebody left, we got frozen! Ate with our jackets on. Short order cook in the back was spot on! Food came out lightning fast, correct, and well done. Unfortunately we had to eat quickly to avoid having it refrozen when people left. Fortunately only one left after we got our food. Menu all looked good, and will probably return but not until its warm outside! If the place was packed, I get having to sit there, but the place had maybe 3-4 tables used. We ordered: Grandma's way - scrambled eggs with chip chop ham, The cracked egg breakfast with sausage, hash browns, pancakes. Grandma's way came with sausage patties and not chip chop ham. We informed our server who said 'you did not chose a meat, so it defaults to sausage'. Not what the menu says. I walked back in (we sat outside) and showed her the menu. My sausage was not well done as I had asked, the half order of biscuits and gravy were on the cold side, hash browns are really breakfast potatoes. The grits were good and so were the pancakes. Nice concept, but poor execution. My breakfast bowl didn't have any eggs. I ordered toast, and got one piece, sans jelly. I asked for jelly and finally got one grape jelly container at the end of my meal. I told the waitress about there not being eggs on my bowl, and she said, "well I know I hit the "scrambled" button when I put your order in, sorry about that." No effort to correct the order or offer something else. My wife's chicken quesadilla tasted of cinnamon, probably grilled on the flat top along with the french toast. Server went to get sour cream and salsa and finally returned when we were nearly finished. Not a good experience for us. There was only one other table occupied, yet we had to wait 50 minutes for our breakfast. Server never did come to refill our coffee.
