Fort Wilderness with Surf and Sun! Great way to unwind and rip some waves. We had a quick little getaway all the way from FL. My son had a blast when he wasn't surfing on the slides and we joined in on the fun. We had breast fast and lunch on the property and stayed at the hotel (great/ modern chic rooms) and a night in the cabin. Staff was friendly and welcoming. Very different and nice experience.

5" peephole views for rows /rows of seats. Not accommodating to us moms/spouses supporting our boys being here. DUMB choice of fencing. Lady next to me complained to her family a group of 5 men stood there watching her shower, "pretty upsetting", she said. Here from Seattle for 2024 solar eclipse, along with thousands of other out of towners. You'd think they'd want to consider us out of towners travel and expenses and open the water parks; but no, WS decided to keep rides closed until next month, even though it's 80 weather. They don't want our business. Otherwise, cool spot middle of peaceful town. Not impressed with the lack of consideration for women. Hopefully they sort out these scuffs soon

Great place to surf and wakeboard in a land-locked area. They have mimicked both sports well! Website is a bit confusing because you have to book everything separately: surf, wakeboard, beach, water slides/lazy river, food/bar area, and equipment; however, staff are friendly and able to answer questions as needed. They have caps on the daily tickets they sell, so it's never too busy. Prices are very reasonable. Plenty of free parking. Bring lots of water. Clean and well maintained. Will return for sure!

This place is truly a hidden gem right outside of the city of Waco. If you go or have gone to Baylor in the last 10 or so years, you've likely come here. The surf park, cable park, slides and lazy river are perfect on a hot day. The one negative would have to be the prices, as they've gone up drastically. The park is very nice, and they've added additional parking which allows for ample space to park. Definitely check this out if you're spending your summer in Waco!

We only went to the surf school so I can't speak for the hotel. The surf school was really fun for my son and husband. They did a beginners class (never surfed before) and both were able to pick it up pretty quickly. I would definitely recommend this place if you're in town. For those watching, there are beach chairs and you can rent a cabana if you want to get out of the sun. Otherwise, it's hot! Bring a hat and some sunscreen and enjoy being outside in a beach like environment!

Came to Waco Surf because my significant other used to be a professional wakeboarder, so he wanted to visit the place again since we were around the area. We booked the Cabana for 2 days. Now of course this is not a 5 star hotel so expect that to he vibe and ambiance are on a more relaxed pace. One of the things I wish were different for the guests staying at their park is beach/pool towels to be provided to their guests.... The bedding and towels are more on the used side but it was sufficient for the 2 days stays... I had no expectations of a 5 star hotel although the price is a bit high. But we had a great time on the slides, pool and the cable park. So overall we had a great experience and I do recommend.

Sittin, enjoyin' the view!

Awesome place! An oasis in central Texas! Splurge and get the cabana! Makes my beach heart happy!

Ask the Community - Waco Surf

If my friends and I want to come check out Waco Surf this Friday are we able to show up without pre-booking? On the website it makes it seem like you only take reservations but if walk-ins are available I would love to come see Waco Surf?

Hi Stella! You are more than welcome to purchase a beach pass and sign your digital waiver on site to come check out the surfing :) Our surf sessions require a reservation as we tend to sell out about 4-6 weeks in advance. Please note that the… Read more

How many beginner sessions should you do before moving on to intermediate?

It depends on your progression - sometimes it just takes 1 beginner session to get the hang of it, sometimes it takes a little longer. I would try the beginner session first and see how it goes, and then make the call from there :)

My husband and I were part of the kitchen/meal crew and stayed in the Gathering House. The kitchen was quite well-stocked and the extra fridge around the corner + extra storage space was much needed. We did have to bring some of our own equipment but we were thoroughly prepared to do so because Gathering Oaks provided all the information about what was available at the retreat center ahead of time. The sound proofing isn't the greatest in the main house for those staying in the ground floor rooms, but that didn't really end up mattering too much since I'm a pretty deep sleeper. Those who wake up more easily from loud noises may not have as easy a time staying in one of the bedrooms in the Gathering House. The facilities are all very well kept and the kids had a great time with the outdoor activities and the fire pit at night. Would definitely consider Gathering Oaks in the future for smaller retreats (about 40-60 people max).

However, on the listing it mentions there are no hidden fees. This is the first place with a hot tub that had it replaced with a cold tub. As it turns out, they want an add-on cost of $100.00 to turn the heat on the hot tub. I am sure there is an excuse, but it is probably ridiculous since this is not an industry standard.

But caution: once you start staying there, you'll want to keep coming! Everything about White Rock Creek B&B is built with care and decorated with love and beautiful detailing. The cabin rooms are custom built, comfortable and inviting with romantic ambiance, and nestled in the oak and poplar trees with plenty of quiet and privacy. We love the owners and they love to chat with you and become your friends as they serve up their breakfast casseroles, fresh fruit, and pastries in the mornings. You can enjoy the fellowship with other guests in the dining great-room, or in privacy on their sprawling back porch facing the trees and a quiet creek. The location is perfect for a Waco stay. Just 5 miles from the brand new, must-see McLane Stadium where you can catch a Baylor football game, or a short walk from there to a baseball, basketball, or tennis game -- all good choices of Big12 championship teams. Enjoy the ever growing, beautiful Baylor campus and the "Baylor Bears" in their natural habitat, and the onsite Texas Sports Hall of Fame with the SW Conference Exhibit; the renowned Armstrong-Browning Library; the Mayborn Museum Complex with the Titanic Exhibit; and the Texas Ranger Museum. As soon as I stepped in, I noticed how clean and modern the space felt. The design has a bright, minimalist aesthetic that gives off a very calm and refreshing vibe. After doing a bit of research, I found that Element markets itself as an extended stay hotel designed for the active traveler -- and that definitely came through in the details. Each room had a reusable water bottle, and all the water throughout the hotel is filtered, which I really appreciated. There was a mini fridge in the room, lots of built-in USB charging ports, and everything was set up to be functional, but sleek. The fitness room was a standout -- large, well air-conditioned, stocked with plenty of towels, and had all the essentials for a solid workout. I found out that they use the same beds as Westin Hotels, and it showed. Super comfortable mattress, plush pillows -- I slept really well. But honestly, what impressed me the most was the breakfast. It was complimentary, but far from your typical "budget hotel" buffet. Here's what stood out: * A yogurt bar with Chobani, fresh fruit, and nut toppings. * A variety of bagels, muffins, breads, and cereals. * Made-to-order hot breakfast options including a quinoa bowl, French toast, and an egg frittata with optional sausage. I went with the French toast -- a slice of toast cut in half, buttered, lightly sugared, and topped with powdered sugar and fresh berries (blueberries and strawberries). They even had a Nutella squeeze bottle, which was a fun and tasty touch. They also had a full-fledged cappuccino machine! It was such a pleasant surprise to be able to make a proper cappuccino in the morning. Overall, I had a great experience at Element Waco. With only a little over 100 Element Hotels across North America, it feels like a bit of a hidden gem. If I'm staying at a Marriott-brand hotel in the future, I'll definitely check to see if there's an Element in that city.

What makes the situation even more frustrating is that I specifically called ahead before each visit and was assured that the water park would be open regardless of the circumstances. Based on that information, I made the decision to go -- only to arrive and find the main attractions closed. Considering how expensive admission is, this is unacceptable. The water park is clearly the main reason people visit, and without it there is very little else to do. Paying such a high price for a park where the primary attractions are unavailable feels misleading and like a waste of time and money. If the water park cannot reliably stay open, visitors should be informed honestly before they arrive. Accurate information would allow families to make better decisions instead of spending money on an experience that does not match what was promised. After two disappointing visits, I would have a hard time recommending this park to anyone unless they improve their communication and ensure the water attractions are actually open when they say they are.
