Our church hosted a family retreat at Gathering Oaks earlier this month and everyone involved had a really great time. My husband and I were part of the kitchen/meal crew and stayed in the Gathering House. The kitchen was quite well-stocked and the extra fridge around the corner + extra storage space was much needed. We did have to bring some of our own equipment but we were thoroughly prepared to do so because Gathering Oaks provided all the information about what was available at the retreat center ahead of time. The sound proofing isn't the greatest in the main house for those staying in the ground floor rooms, but that didn't really end up mattering too much since I'm a pretty deep sleeper. Those who wake up more easily from loud noises may not have as easy a time staying in one of the bedrooms in the Gathering House. The facilities are all very well kept and the kids had a great time with the outdoor activities and the fire pit at night. Would definitely consider Gathering Oaks in the future for smaller retreats (about 40-60 people max). read more

We stayed very, very recently in one of the tiny homes for a mini-vacation with the kids. The property is beautiful and the tiny home was more than adequate. However, on the listing it mentions there are no hidden fees. This is the first place with a hot tub that had it replaced with a cold tub. As it turns out, they want an add-on cost of $100.00 to turn the heat on the hot tub. I am sure there is an excuse, but it is probably ridiculous since this is not an industry standard. read more

They were all booked up at Gathering Oaks Resort Main Property, no problem, 2 montgs out! but they had 'farmhouse" accommodations available. But we wouldn't be allowed to enter the pool or tennis courts or the main prooerty at all. They kindly referred me to another venue that will probably work out. read more

We visited Gathering Oaks in September & December 2020. It is a perfect place to sneak away from quarantine safely. We stayed in the Luxury Casita first then brought our Family back to the Gathering House in Dec. They loved it as much as my Husband & I did the first time. The Staff is wonderful to work with leading up to your visit & during. Super accommodating. The Casita is not set up with a kitchen so we packed a cooler and brought back take out food from Waco because it's close by but the kitchen at the Gathering House is stocked with everything you need. Bonus, the beds in the Gathering House were extremely comfortable. Our whole Family slept well. We want to know details on the mattresses!! Thank you Lacy & Hannah. This place is awesome and provided exactly what we were looking for -- a socially distant middle of the week getaway. The hosts went above and beyond to make our stay as smooth and enjoyable as possible. Our daughters had a blast in the pool, and we made steaks on the grill and made s'mores. I can definitely see why this place is popular for family reunions, group retreats, and other such gatherings. Waco is only 15 minutes away, which made our Zoo trip and grocery runs convenient. For local eats .... a Texas Monthly Top 50 BBQ restaurant is only 2-3 minutes away. read more

Gathering Oaks is the perfect place to enjoy a weekend get-a-way! My mom, sister, and I fell in love with this cozy little gem and are already planning our return. We decided to stay in one of the tiny houses and I'm so glad we did! Even though there were three of us, we had more than enough room and never once felt uncomfortable. The tiny houses sit slightly behind the main gathering house in their own little perfectly manicured cul-de-sac, which makes it that much better! As for the house itself, we loved it! We stayed in #3 and as soon as we entered, we felt right at home! The grounds are equally as welcoming and the location can't be beat! We felt close enough to all that Waco has to offer but also in a cozy country setting where we could relax. Lacy was so helpful and made sure our stay was nothing short of amazing! Staying at the Gathering Oaks Retreat tonight. The place is beautiful for sure. Pictures are hard to judge so just want you to know the pool is pretty small. If you're not into sharing with people you don't know in close quarters, keep this in mind. There is no ice machine anywhere on property so bring your own if necessary. I like ice in my drinks so lucky we brought some. There is one grill and it's not real close to all rooms. If you are planning to bring your own food, you may want to verify if your room selection has a kitchen or not and how far you are from the grill. The sound of all the bugs in the Oak trees will take you back to the days of playing outside in the summer of your youth! Peaceful little retreat! read more

This place was absolutely beautiful. Negatives: there was a bunch of mosquitos in our room when we got there, a little weird not seeing anyone the entire time we were there, 10am check out, extra $35 cleaning fee.. All that considered, we really enjoyed this b&b and definitely recommend it, especially to families or if you will have free time to enjoy the outdoor areas. Kids would love all the fun games outside, pool, and things to explore. We probably should have just stayed at a cheaper hotel considering all we had time to do was sleep there, but it was still a really nice place to stay. Clean, quiet, and beautiful. They even have new fire pits you can use, although if you use a real one you need to bring a log or buy for the s'mores kit they sell. 110% recommend this place if you have younger children, enjoy nature, and/or are looking for a relaxing place. read more

Our family gathered at Gathering Oaks to celebrate our son's wedding and it was an amazing retreat! Gpa/Gma, aunts, uncles and the kids all enjoyed their stay! Everyone found fun things to do both in the lodge and on the surrounding grounds. The rooms and kitchen were well equipped with everything we needed, plus everything was extremely clean and tastefully decorated! When we wanted to actually sleep at the end of a long day, their beds were spectacular, beautiful and extravagant! We hosted our rehearsal dinner at the lodge and it felt like we were having family and friends over for dinner -- plenty of room for everyone to enjoy time together. The best part was that the home was so well-equipped for cater an event like that and the kitchen (plus catering room) supplied everything we needed for our entire group. It was truly the perfect gathering place to entertain. We met the owners Brandon and Lacy who were available on site plus Hannah was available to help us in any way -- but literally, they had thought of everything. We felt safe with the private gate code, the pool in our "backyard" was fun and relaxing and the kids enjoyed all of the fun things to do outside. The entire experience was stress-free and we appreciated the clear communication they provided. We hope to visit again -- it's the perfect place for a private getaway or a large gathering. I booked this gem a month ago for my Corporate sales kickoff with my entire Sales Team. I booked "The Whispering Vines" meeting room and it was perfect! They had everything I needed including a projector! Hello awesome!!! One of the main reasons I booked it was because in was only 10 minutes outside Waco. Another bonus was IT IS LITERALLY RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET FROM MAGNOLIA FARMS!! It was neat for my out of town Sales Team to see that and MAGNOLIA. I had a group of 38 people who all stayed on prem! We loved it so much we are having our company Christmas party there again this year!!! The cottages, main house, suites, pool, outdoor space is beautiful! I brought a group of 7 gal pals to Gathering Oaks Retreat and was blown away by ambiance of this setting. The twinkle lights, the campfire and s'mores, the Tiny Houses...my out-of-state girlfriends and I LOVED this serene Texas setting. We loved using The Gathering House as well, as a meeting place before hitting the town. The owners were on-site and some of the nicest, most accommodating people we had ever met! We reserved a few Tiny Houses, the 2 room cottage, and the Luxury Casita and loved all of the decor and setups of the rooms. The beds were EXTREMELY comfy, which was so nice after spending the entire day shopping. I LOVED how every room was private and separate, unlike a conventional hotel setting. This is the perfect place for family gatherings and girls weekends! We even saw a company party going on in the courtyard and it seemed perfect for that too! You will love staying here! read more
