My husband and I were part of the kitchen/meal crew and stayed in the Gathering House. The kitchen was quite well-stocked and the extra fridge around the corner + extra storage space was much needed. We did have to bring some of our own equipment but we were thoroughly prepared to do so because Gathering Oaks provided all the information about what was available at the retreat center ahead of time. The sound proofing isn't the greatest in the main house for those staying in the ground floor rooms, but that didn't really end up mattering too much since I'm a pretty deep sleeper. Those who wake up more easily from loud noises may not have as easy a time staying in one of the bedrooms in the Gathering House. The facilities are all very well kept and the kids had a great time with the outdoor activities and the fire pit at night. Would definitely consider Gathering Oaks in the future for smaller retreats (about 40-60 people max).

However, on the listing it mentions there are no hidden fees. This is the first place with a hot tub that had it replaced with a cold tub. As it turns out, they want an add-on cost of $100.00 to turn the heat on the hot tub. I am sure there is an excuse, but it is probably ridiculous since this is not an industry standard.

But caution: once you start staying there, you'll want to keep coming! Everything about White Rock Creek B&B is built with care and decorated with love and beautiful detailing. The cabin rooms are custom built, comfortable and inviting with romantic ambiance, and nestled in the oak and poplar trees with plenty of quiet and privacy. We love the owners and they love to chat with you and become your friends as they serve up their breakfast casseroles, fresh fruit, and pastries in the mornings. You can enjoy the fellowship with other guests in the dining great-room, or in privacy on their sprawling back porch facing the trees and a quiet creek. The location is perfect for a Waco stay. Just 5 miles from the brand new, must-see McLane Stadium where you can catch a Baylor football game, or a short walk from there to a baseball, basketball, or tennis game -- all good choices of Big12 championship teams. Enjoy the ever growing, beautiful Baylor campus and the "Baylor Bears" in their natural habitat, and the onsite Texas Sports Hall of Fame with the SW Conference Exhibit; the renowned Armstrong-Browning Library; the Mayborn Museum Complex with the Titanic Exhibit; and the Texas Ranger Museum. Then you can take a hop across the bridges 1/2 mile from Baylor to downtown Waco to eat and shop at Magnolia Silos Market by Chip and Joanna Gaines of "Fixer Upper". Or if you have a taste for archaeology, history, and God's creation, a 5 1/2 mile drive from the B&B to Waco Mammoth National Monument will satisfy your itch for walking through an active "dig" and seeing the finds of wooly mammoth families who had been enjoying the grasslands during the ice age and became preserved by the melt and mud (or, maybe by the Flood?).

Upon arriving I was given an upgraded room featuring a living area , kitchen, large bathroom and separate bathroom! The room was clean, modern and comfortable. I arrived later in the evening after a long work day and no food so was happy to see that they have a restaurant and I was able to order some food to go - they called my room when it was ready and service was fast and friendly. The bed was comfortable and took is nice and dark! It's a little loud as it sits on a road but other than that, this was a great choice!!

I like…read moretrying out different hotel brands within larger chains, and this seemed like a great opportunity. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised and really enjoyed my stay. As soon as I stepped in, I noticed how clean and modern the space felt. The design has a bright, minimalist aesthetic that gives off a very calm and refreshing vibe. After doing a bit of research, I found that Element markets itself as an extended stay hotel designed for the active traveler -- and that definitely came through in the details. Each room had a reusable water bottle, and all the water throughout the hotel is filtered, which I really appreciated. There was a mini fridge in the room, lots of built-in USB charging ports, and everything was set up to be functional, but sleek. The fitness room was a standout -- large, well air-conditioned, stocked with plenty of towels, and had all the essentials for a solid workout. I found out that they use the same beds as Westin Hotels, and it showed. Super comfortable mattress, plush pillows -- I slept really well. But honestly, what impressed me the most was the breakfast. It was complimentary, but far from your typical "budget hotel" buffet. Here's what stood out: * A yogurt bar with Chobani, fresh fruit, and nut toppings. * A variety of bagels, muffins, breads, and cereals. * Made-to-order hot breakfast options including a quinoa bowl, French toast, and an egg frittata with optional sausage. I went with the French toast -- a slice of toast cut in half, buttered, lightly sugared, and topped with powdered sugar and fresh berries (blueberries and strawberries). They even had a Nutella squeeze bottle, which was a fun and tasty touch. They also had a full-fledged cappuccino machine! It was such a pleasant surprise to be able to make a proper cappuccino in the morning. Overall, I had a great experience at Element Waco. With only a little over 100 Element Hotels across North America, it feels like a bit of a hidden gem. If I'm staying at a Marriott-brand hotel in the future, I'll definitely check to see if there's an Element in that city.

Had tea, coffee in the room and bottles of water if you wanted to pay $2 to drink them, fridge, iron, hairdryer. Checked in was smooth but clerk could have been a bit more talkative/informative. Large conference room on the first level, pool and outdoor seating was nice but it was December so I didn't utilize those. Easy walk to multiple restaurants, bars & shopping at Spice Market across the street and only about a 15 min walk to downtown Waco. Bar & restaurant in lobby, cleaning staff was very accommodating and friendly. Over all good average hotel experience but there are more modern hotels close by.
