The other Fridays they had Country/Western dances. These are open dance nights, sometimes 12 people show up, sometimes 70-100 people. Only $5 per person to get in, something like 7PM-11PM. Sometimes they have special parties, which are a lot of fun, like on holidays. The Halloween party is just great, and you can win free lessons. And occasionally the place is rented out for private parties. You just have to check their calendar. It is available for weddings and I think it would be great for a wedding reception, particularly if you could get the staff to stay and liven up the dancing. The people who go here really vary- some people were high school age, especially home school students, soldiers from Ft Hood came sometimes, older people also. One person I met was 90 years old, and a very good dancer. Really anyone who appreciates ballroom dance. You don't have to be very good either (and they offer private lessons) because people are very patient and will usually help you learn at least the basic steps. The music is good too, some old stuff some new. Cumbia, line dances, tango, swing, foxtrot, Lady Gaga, MJ, Nat King Cole, if you can dance to it they play it. Also they take requests sometimes through the email list. The place is in OLD downtown Temple, on Main Street. When I went there alone the management would walk me out to my car in the evening sometimes, as it is dark and deserted there at night. The building they are in is really old, with a dance floor, stage, wooden floor, tables, bar (no alcohol, they sell snacks and soda, etc, it is BYOB), it used to be some kind of department store. The owners restored it, it has a great deal of charm. It has a second story window that a person sits at and DJs all the music. It is painted like an aquarium, which is funny. Anyway, if you want to hang out in a mature but fun place and meet lots of nice people, I highly recommend you check it out.

Diane the proprietor was so helpful & made everything so easy. Theyve got two floors & a patio with gorgeous tall ceilings & chandeliers. We had a photo booth set up in the back shaded courtyard, which made it a popular hangout spot for everyone at one point. Diane has lots of decor & supplies up in her attic you can use for free! There was even parking across the street. My daughter was thrilled & everyone had a great time!

The Giraffe barn is attached to one side of the house, and their pasture is on the other side. It is the most fabulous "Barndominium" with incredible finishes and clearly thoughtfully designed. That experience alone was mind-blowing.... however we also had the Gold Packages and were able to experience everything the ranch had to offer! Zebras, Capybaras, Kangaroos, Otters, Deer, Homer the Dromedary!!! Everywhere you turned there were more animals and more experiences offered. My children and I were in absolute animal heaven and will be thrilled to return. I will say, our vacation was expensive and it did not disappoint. However, I do believe you can absolutely visit this ranch on a budget.... Probably one of the best experiences was their ranch safari and that is a nominal price and totally worth it! You can see the entire property and all of the animals on the safari trip. Additionally they have fantastic cabins that are themed, and if you have children under the age of 10, the pirate themed cabins are beyond your wildest imagination.... as far as I am aware all of the sleeping accommodations include kitchens so you can absolutely cook for your family instead of paying for the delicious ranch food. That said... Chef Alan is phenomenal and out of this world excellent chef. Each meal was made with love and artistry. The staff at Blue Hills Ranch all go above and beyond to create lasting memories for you. I absolutely recommend this experience as a NOT TO BE MISSED event! We are already planning a return in October/November depending on availability . Cannot wait. I took a two day personal retreat here, and the service staff was so kind and courteous and beyond helpful. They connected me with jogging trail maps, things to do, and a map of the facility. And MC3 Catering also went far beyond expectations to allow me to be added onto their meals that they were serving for larger groups (thank you Willie and Jeremy). Their fried chicken is just glorious. The views here absolutely stunning. Whether you are on the 2 mile red trail and taking in the breathtaking views of the hills and prairies, or whether you head under the bridge to get close to the waterfall, you will have an amazingly restful experience. You can also see deer, elk, donkeys, and cattle up close. The amenities are great. I stayed in the Lone Star cabin which was clean, spacious, fully equipped with a full kitchen, comfy seating spaces, and a large stone bathroom with a tub and walk in shower (for two). There is also rocking chairs inside and outside for your maximum relaxation. Everything you need is labeled well. You can also visit the Coca Cola rec room and the Roadrunner fitness center, which had plenty of solid equipment for the workout enthusiast. I cannot wait to bring my family back here!
