One of my friends doesn't eat eggs and asked if she could have a menu item that included eggs, a meat and breakfast potatoes. She asked if the eggs could be left off. She was told NO, so she then just ordered a bread and coffee. I don't understand the waitress response because we weren't asking to deduct the cost of the eggs! She just doesn't eat eggs! Turns out they were out of breakfast potatoes and wanted to bring us french fries instead. We declined. Really.....nothing special about this breakfast and very expensive and disappointing service. The only positive was the restaurant looks nice. Decided to give the restaurant another chance and went for lunch. Had soup and salad. I really only wanted a cup of soup, but that was not possible. Had a very good strawberry and watermelon salad and a giant bowl of corn bisque swimming in oil on top. Very unpalatable. Told the waitress and all I was offered was that they would tell the chef. The salad was $16 and the soup was uneaten and cost me $14! They did bring me the standard Stagecoach hush puppies before my meal and they were delicious! When I had heard the restaurant would be managed by the owners of Monument Cafe I was so excited. I love Monument, but this restaurant is too expensive for the poor quality of food. I would love to have the menu at Monument at this restaurant. The only positive is that the remodel of the restaurant is lovely in appearance. Continue to improve the property and add back things like the wedding venue and the restaurant/bar plus add on a pole bar. They have a great pool. The rooms are very comfortable and it's right in the middle of town where you could walk to the majority of things that you want to experience with the insulator. They also have options now for renting golf carts and a little gift shop in the front lobby for some souvenirs.

Normally this isn't a problem - I get when you're low on rooms - but there are maybe 20 other people staying here. Not to mention my profile always requests "highest floor available, please". I went to the front desk and said "So y'all are sooo booked up that I had to have a room for those with disabilities?" He didn't have an answer for that. I mentioned my room in August was much nicer, smelled better, and didn't have dingy carpet and 70's-style nightstands. Front desk guy said "Ummm....we're renovating" (no they are not). My room faces I-35 and is right by the breakfast area. A lot of noise. Plus, the air conditioner is locked and though it says 66 degrees the room didn't cool off. I'll stay elsewhere next time I visit this area.

We asked if the Internet plugs were activated in the rooms and they said yes.. so we buzzed over to Best Buy to grab ethernet cable only to discover it was not hot and wasn't working at all. Tried 3 different laptops! The beds are still lumpy with a metal box spring that makes a loud clunky sound every time you move or get up climb into for that fact. They ate covering something by spraying the hell outta the rooms during their so called cleaning the room. I get a hint of roach killer spray with that fragrance smell behind it. Burned my eyes,nose and chest. Was hard to breathe the first night. The bedding was dirty and had grains Of something in the sheets. I asked for both beds to be changed and not to spray and so called aromatherapy cleaning fragrance or roach killer on the bedding to prevent the swell and skin irritations and they did it anyway. After being out all day.. I wanted to relax and came back to this! I made my way to the front desk and had to grab some fresh bedding minus the perfume roach killer spray on it ( i keep mentioning this is when we first checked in and eyes burned soon as we entered the room; i went to the front desk to explain it to the gal and was told that they use sprays) Seals on toilet were bad would hear water running water ever so often ... I liked the chain location up there in Belton just off I-35 access rd Food was ok but coffee pots dirty and lukewarm coffee.. But this is my gripes and experiences and this will be my last tome at this location.. I tried a few times now and to give this location a chance by kindly letting them know of issues without being overbearing or dramatic.. but given-some of the other reviews that were posted here... proofs in the pudding! The inside of the brewing company has tables and often does live music or you can hang out at the bar in the air-conditioning but the majority of people at barrows are outside because Burrows also has a phenomenal massive concrete pad that has covered picnic tables and this is where the food trucks park. This is also where they do their live music on the weekends. From behind barrows, you can walk down to the creek, and this is where they have the ice cold natural spring that comes out of the ground. You are welcome to bring their beers down here and sit in the water or sit by the water and hang out and enjoy the creek. Depending on the day, there can be anything happening here from a farmers market to vendors to food trucks to music to dancing anything you can think of so definitely check out their Facebook page for the activities. Absolutely family friendly and there's usually tons of kids having a blast down here with their parents. We like the beer a lot and the staff is friendly and we end up here more than once every single time that we're in Salado, so don't skip it!
