One of my friends doesn't eat eggs and asked if she could have a menu item that included eggs, a meat and breakfast potatoes. She asked if the eggs could be left off. She was told NO, so she then just ordered a bread and coffee. I don't understand the waitress response because we weren't asking to deduct the cost of the eggs! She just doesn't eat eggs! Turns out they were out of breakfast potatoes and wanted to bring us french fries instead. We declined. Really.....nothing special about this breakfast and very expensive and disappointing service. The only positive was the restaurant looks nice. Decided to give the restaurant another chance and went for lunch. Had soup and salad. I really only wanted a cup of soup, but that was not possible. Had a very good strawberry and watermelon salad and a giant bowl of corn bisque swimming in oil on top. Very unpalatable. Told the waitress and all I was offered was that they would tell the chef. The salad was $16 and the soup was uneaten and cost me $14! They did bring me the standard Stagecoach hush puppies before my meal and they were delicious! When I had heard the restaurant would be managed by the owners of Monument Cafe I was so excited. I love Monument, but this restaurant is too expensive for the poor quality of food. I would love to have the menu at Monument at this restaurant. The only positive is that the remodel of the restaurant is lovely in appearance. Continue to improve the property and add back things like the wedding venue and the restaurant/bar plus add on a pole bar. They have a great pool. The rooms are very comfortable and it's right in the middle of town where you could walk to the majority of things that you want to experience with the insulator. They also have options now for renting golf carts and a little gift shop in the front lobby for some souvenirs.

I went to the front desk and said "So y'all are sooo booked up that I had to have a room for those with disabilities?" He didn't have an answer for that. I mentioned my room in August was much nicer, smelled better, and didn't have dingy carpet and 70's-style nightstands. Front desk guy said "Ummm....we're renovating" (no they are not). My room faces I-35 and is right by the breakfast area. A lot of noise. Plus, the air conditioner is locked and though it says 66 degrees the room didn't cool off. I'll stay elsewhere next time I visit this area.

My card was charged for both nights, so all good there. When I tried to check in the following afternoon to take advantage of my second already paid night, I was told I'd have to pay again. I challenged this, and the front desk staff called the site manager Dixie who said I broke my reservation by not calling. She relayed that if I'd called they could have worked with me. I explained they still could work with me as I was NOT asking for a refund ... only for a room for which they acknowledged I'd already paid for ... which they again denied. Never again Holiday Inn. We're done.
