I took two of my friends here for a midday pedicure and nail appointment. The early morning weekday time was perfect. We got right in and they went to work. I asked that we all did pedicures together and they were very accommodating. You could tell each tech cared to try and meet what the customer asked for. They are a bit pricey. An additional $20 for gel on the toes but some of that is to be expected. The employees were friendly and made conversation. Comfortable atmosphere and good service. If you want a nail fungus, then go here. Dirty, overpriced, mediocre service. This place was nice when it opened, but it's gone down hill over the past few years. I got a toenail fungal infection and it's taking forever to get rid of. I went three months in a row bc my boss gives me a gift card and it's enough for three visits. Well by my third visit I noticed my toenail had pain when they were doing my toes. So I got home and took the nail polish off immediately and noticed there was a fungus. Most of the time I would call ahead and make appointments, and I would try to stick with the same nail tech to show my loyalty. Today, I walked in without an appointment and WAS NOT GREETED KINDLY at all, but was told before I even signed in, that it would be an hour before they could get to me and they would call me. And yes they were busy but Peter was so rude! I decided to wait rather than leave. Meanwhile, a young girl who came in 10 minutes after me and was told to have a seat and wait. I spoke with her to see if she had an appointment (and she did not) and I nicely explained my situation & my disbelief of their rudeness. As we were talking they called her-ahead of me-to get her nails done. I got up and walked out the door- vowing to never return. I have been here plenty of times before and had good experiences but today was not one of them; my daughter waited over 1 hour for a manicure and when she was finally seen, the 'manager' only painted her nails. No cutting, no filing, no cleaning up around her nails and no lotion applied. And they had the nerve to charge full price and lie about what services were given. This place has great potential. It's beautiful inside, they have a nifty system to keep track of customers, and the manager and front desk employees are wonderful. Nonetheless, this last experience was my last straw. Came in for a mani/pedi right when they opened on a Saturday morning. As he was doing my pedicure, I realized there were gaps in the service; no scrubbing, no cuticle cutting, no nail filing etc. In fact, I had to remind him to cut my cuticle and add another coat to my nails, in the midst of him yelling across the salon (in an apparent argument) to another employee. He begins getting rougher with my manicure and forgets to add oil and lotion on both hands. After an hour and 40 minutes, it's finally over. I look at my hands and feet to find polish on my skin. I make my way up to the front desk, fortunately the employee is kind and understanding. I shared my experience to the manager, we settled on only paying for the color done. I usually visit the location on Mendenhall but recently tried the Cordova location but I wasn't too pleased with the service. I waited over an hour before I was seen. I got a basic mani/pedi. The mani/pedi was okay. When she painted my nails, it was kinda done sloppy. What frustrated a little more was that the color didn't last more than week like usual. I always try an establishment two or three times before I give a less than positive rendering. I want to be fair and give the business a opportunity to redeem themselves. We all have off days, right? I have been here 4 times..I have had a manicure and pedicure and they have ALL been subpar. They just aren't very attentive or thoughtful about the process or final outcome. I do find that male techs here are rough and heavy handed. Don't get me wrong I will be vocal and say "that hurts". I don't suffer in silence. Now admittedly every time I have come to this establishment it was because my regular stomping grounds had a long wait. Without fail I can pretty much walk right in and get serviced here. I don't know if this is telling or if it's just that I've always had good timing. If you are in a real bind, meaning that you can't wait and your back is up against the wall because you have an event in a few hours, then by all means come here. If you do have other option, I recommend the other salons in the East Memphis area. I hope they read some of the feedback and really take it into consideration. I've been here twice. Once for a shellac mani and the second time for a pedicure. The shellac mani was less than stellar. The girl rushed through (polish started chipping in a week, as a result) and talked about her very colorful personal life to a coworker the whole time--I didn't want her to talk to me, but gossiping isn't favorable. The experience with the pedicure was AAAAHMAZING, however. Peter was outstanding. I got the deluxe pedicure and it was (truly) the best pedicure of my life. I told him about the bad mani experience and he called over a manager. They asked me to try the manicure again, and I said I would. The worker Misu does great work but her attitude is terrible. She is not sociable, has a smart mouth, she acts as if you are bothering her. I asked her the last 2 nail appointments if she was having a good day because she always has an attitude the 3 times I've been there. She is rude to her coworkers and can't even explain to her coworkers the service she provided me so they can check me out with not having an attitude. Went for the first time yesterday and got a full set. They are still running their opening 20% off promo which is a great way to get people in the door. The interior is very nice and very organized which I can appreciate when picking out a polish. They had plenty of colors in shellac, dip, and regular polish to choose from. The man Lee who I am guessing is the manager was very nice and welcoming and immediately asked how he can help me when I walked in. They also had a sign in system via iPad which I thought was helpful and a great way to keep track of your customers. Lee handled my full set and did a really great job. He asked multiple times if I liked them which I can appreciate as a lot of nail technicians get going and don't stop to ask when you want/like. They salon offers drinks (alcoholic and non) but I think due to busyness Lee forgot to offer me one which was not a big deal and I just asked for one myself. He was very apologetic when he realized he forgot to ask me. Overall, this is a great, clean and relaxing salon that mimics more of a spa-like atmosphere. Lee did a great job on my acrylics (see picture) and the prices are fair ($30 for full set). I will definitely be back! read more

The girl doing my mani was trying to do me and another customer at the same time!!!! The next day my nail broke. I called and spoke with Lee and he said they would fix it. By the time I made it back for repair 4 nails were broken. The guy doing my nails wanted to charge me full price for a manicure. The repair manicure lasted less than one week. The first time I went I had a polish change, and my eyebrows waxed. The tech did well at painting, however he made me feel bad because I hadn't had a manicure in a while, kept telling me how bad my hands looked. Then the eyebrow tech cut me (enough to bleed a bit) between my eyes. He apologized and I was understanding. Decided it was my bad luck so went back for a dip. First, very unsanitary used the same file that had previously been used, and dipped my fingers into the shelf pot of dip rather than separating a small amount for just my nails. Second the tech left it extremely thick so it wasn't pleasing to look at, it looked fake. Third I was just woken up by a text from them (see picture notice the time) at 12:04am....midnight texting customers really????? When I pulled my foot back because it was painful, she grabbed my foot and pulled it towards her and continued. I was with a bridal party, and we were celebrating the bride so I didnt want to make a big deal about it but the next day when I was a bridesmaid in the wedding, I couldnt even wear the heels I was supposed to because of the damage this girl had done to me foot. I am very angry tonight. I am a long-time customer of this nail salon and have never been treated so badly. They painted my toenails and then I went in and had my fingernails done. The polish they used on my toenails was clumpy but they put it on anyway. When it got time for me to leave, the girl told me that my nails were dry and go ahead and put my shoes on. I walked out to my car and started it and as I put my car in reverse I realized my toes were sticking to the tops of my shoes so I parked my car and went right back in. She told me to go have a seat, which I did and I proceeded to wait over 30 minutes. She came and looked at my toes and said that should not have happened and I asked her to put gel on them. She walked away and I still did not get helped. I ended up walking out with my toes looking like crap. They have just lost a long-time customer and I will quit referring people to them. I even had to wait about 10 minutes for anyone to even acknowledge that I walked in. The girl that did my nails did not even file them or cut my cuticles at all and had the nerve to charge $50 for some of the worst nails I have gotten in my life. I was very excited about this salon, but within the past 3 months my experiences have been anything but great. Most recently I paid $48 for a Dip Manicure and Henry did not even touch my cuticles. I was too busy being distracted by the nail tech doing my pedicure showing me unsolicited shirtless pictures of himself to notice the lack of actual manicure until after I left. If you are going to charge me almost $50 for my nails, I expect to be able to tell a manicure was actually done and I don't think that is unreasonable. This is also the 3rd encounter I have had with the nail tech making uncomfortable advances/gestures. It is safe to say I will not be returning to this salon. read more

I used to go to the other VSL on Kirby back in 2018. After a couple of bad visits and really nasty attitudes I quit going and I found Ann's Nails in Germantown. Ann's is fantastic on every level- service/cleanliness/technique- everything. They are closed in Sundays though. I decided to give this new location a chance. There was one other person in there besides myself. I am happy to say that the people working in there are much nicer than Jessie and the Kirby crew- but for $73, my nails looked AWFUL. They were clumpy and uneven and my old color was still on my skin and the new color was outside of the nails-see in the pics. I told the lady at the counter that I wasn't happy and she must have agreed as she offered to have them redone at no charge. Ok, nice enough, but I've now seen what you can do and I'm not interested in sitting another hour through a soak and getting another mediocre job. It would've been more fair to charge me for the pedi, but not the manicure. This did not happen. I went to Ann's the next day and Annie fixed everything. I've learned my lesson at a cost.
