When this place opened I really thought it was something special. Now, it's really gone downhill. Took my out of town family here to eat after talking it up. I was embarrassed when we got there. Dirty tables, server who wasn't even sure what time zone he was in. Food seems to have become bland and assembly line. The men's room was like a truck stop bathroom in a crummy part of town. With long waits and expensive prices, you might expect this to be fine dining. Actually, it's just sob-par tacos that take forever, combined with bad service and frazzled over packed uncomfortable environment. I've given them way too many chances, you're better off getting authentic tacos in South Omaha at 1/3 this price. In fact, you could probably drive from Gretna to South Omaha in less time than it takes for these guys to crank out a taco. Even with the additional gas money, you would still be in the black. I guess most have beat me to the punch on writing a bad review: Definitely changed since I've last been there. They took too long to make the order. Nobody was there except one other at the time. Food portions have definitely shrank. On top of that, pieces of burnt, caked oil bits were in the food. Customer Service: The cashier kid with the glasses never says anything. He's been working there a while. No "Hi", no "Thank you", nothing. Certainly adds to the overall impression. It's a shame it has become this way. This is the second Voodoo taco location I have taken my appetite to. I was pleasantly surprised with the larger portions they gave in their tacos compared to the Aksarben location. Two tacos were more than enough for my apetite. I love the fried avocado in the vegetarian tacos I ordered. Tacos are a bit pricey, Yes...but you got to keep in mind there DOES come a price with quality ingredients. You're not sauntering into a Taco Bell people. With that being said, the tacos are probably the best tacos I have had in a long time. Very unique flavors. I just wish they didn't hand out teaspoon size salsa cups. I don't like having to walk all the way back to the counter to wait in line to ask for a decent proportion of sauces. I was disappointed they didn't have the quality tap beer selection they do in the Aksarben location. Not the end of the world though. This place is a bit crowded, and I have to agree with Dave B. The tables are shaky and hard to eat on. There was a line wrapping almost around half the restaurant and it is hard to hear your own conversation. There are too few tables for the amount of people that come here. I saw strangers sitting with strangers just to eat their food because there is hardly any space. 4 stars. Why? Smart location, artistic and creative interior, amazing food and nice servers. I love the spicy sauces..I wish I knew their secret recipes for these mind blowing salsas. :) Despite the hectic atmosphere, I will be back next time I do another outlet mall shopping trip. We read the reviews, and unfortunately, the bad ones were the most accurate. The tacos are way over priced, not too flavorful, and the inside of the restaurant & tables outside were both dirty and there was a lot of trash that needed to be taken care of. The service was just okay, but at least this restaurant is more original than McDonald's. Overall, would not recommend. read more

I dropped in here last night and was excited to try the food once I saw the menu. The menu is limited to about 6 different kinds of tacos. It was the most I've ever paid for tacos. I had two tacos with chips and queso. Without a drink it was over $15. It was quite a bit of food, but still get it was overpriced. I asked about salsa and they were out of all of their house made options. The atmosphere cold be kind of cool, but it was dirty. Although it wasn't busy and the staff had plenty of time they're were dirty tables all around me and most surfaces could stand a good scrub. Stopped in for tacos and made the mistake of not going to the ordering line. Employee yelled across the store for us to go to the wall. You cannot see the menu from the wall so it takes a long time to order because no one knows what they want. Then we get to the front and we want to order nachos but are told they are out of chips. Good food. The spicy sauce definitely is very very spicy. The service is horrible!!! They guy bringing the food was more concerned with sweeping the floor then bring out food. We were waiting for over 10 minutes and saw our food at the window. His co-worker told him there is food ready to be delivered and he didn't care. Lesson learned: be wary of joints with "Voodoo" in the name. This is the Voodoo Donuts of tacos: juvenile branding (#showyourtaco to VD's "The magic is in the hole") overpriced reinventions of the wheel, hip decor, etc. Service was polite. I'm sure they're exhausted with the holiday season, and I'm not the type to expect employees to pretend we're BFFS. My boyfriend said his carnitas were good, so I'll take his word. My ghost pepper pork taco was not as spicy as I'd expected, but still pretty decent with melty-but-not-mushy pork, and the fried avocado was okay. I personally prefer warm corn soft tortillas over lukewarm flour tortillas. My biggest gripe is the chips and guacamole. The chips were seasoned like Potato Oles. I only want Potato Oles to taste like Potato Oles. The seasoning on the chips is a bit much paired with the guacamole, which was pasty and gritty and made the stuff at Taco Bell seem gourmet. I think the taco fillings were pretty good, but there are so many other options around that I can't see myself returning any time soon. read more

Came in to try voodoo taco while shopping at Nebraska crossing outlets. A little on the expensive side for tacos but the interesting combinations make it worth it. My mother and I ordered a lobster taco, barbacoa taco, alligator taco and steak fajita tacos. Everything was perfectly crafted and unique. I would recommend the lobster taco because of its combination of pineapple and spices blended perfectly with the lobster. I would personally stay away from the alligator taco because of its similar profile to a cut up brat. read more

An off duty officer walks in and the cook yells "hey y'all the fuzz is here". Never coming back! Update.. I was contacted by the owner, who advised they may have a joking relationship w the officer. Not in this case, but very impressive the owner took the time to address the issue. It makes officers uncomfortable when ordering food that the whole place knows who they are. A place called Voodoo Taco, with bold graphics, logo and decor needs to deliver some wow. Unfortunately, all we experienced at Nebraska Crossing was blah. Mahi taco, not enough fish. Shrimp taco, good shrimp, no flavor. Barbacoa taco, no pizazz. I judge restaurants that serve Mexican inspired food on their refrieds and these were bland and uninspiring. Unique menu with some great options. The food itself I give a 4. The service was horrible. Not something I would complain about at a fast food taco place. However, paid over $25 for our lunch and it doesn't appear they just want to be a fast food taco place. The manager appears to hate her job and customers appear to be an inconvenience. The customers in front asked for chips and salsa and at 11:05 she said "we're out". Ok - weird but ok. I have a diet restriction and cannot eat dairy or soy. I asked the clerk what options i had and she said I don't know. So I asked her to ask. The manager came up and why pointing out two options on the menu while she held onto her cell phone. Shopping at the Nebraska Crossing outlets means shopping in an otherwise low-commercial area. Right off the highway between Omaha and Lincoln, your food choices are McDonald's, Denny's and the food court (which I can never find). Today, we found Voodoo Taco. Today, our outlet shopping experience entered, happily, voodoo territory. Walking into VT, (I was raised Catholic. I think there's something written somewhere about using voodoo. Since I can't be sure if that applies to tacos, I'll call it VT.) we were greeted with music that says "you have entered a place with great music." The music was great, not too loud but audible. In a weird confluence, we heard Muse playing while Winnie the Pooh ran on the TV. Certainly, this is a place with seating in and outside where those two can finally get along. But, I digress. Walking in, you are immediately greeted with a big menu board describing 14 (not counting the menu for kiddos) different kinds of tacos, carnitas and fajitas, each with a name that begs further inquiry. The Barbacoa taco is made with shredded beef with avocados, Cajun fried onions, Cotija cheese and BBQ sauce. The Norteno has fajita steak, BBQ, poblano peppers and pickled jalapeños. The Alligator is, wait for it, grilled and smoked alligator sausage, corn, asadero cheese and pico. It takes more than a minute to order because who can believe that an outlet mall restaurant in rural Nebraska would have a taco made with alligator. (Think Muse and Winnie the Pooh...you get it now, don't you?) In all, these eats are not your chihuahua's tacos. The menu offers anything but your run-of-the-mill tacos, all of these costing about $4 each. The menu rounds out with chips and salsa, queso, guacamole and beans, rice and corn. In addition to the standard, un-voodoo-esque sodas, VT has a beer selection of about 6-8 beers. I'll be honest, I didn't look that closely at the beer because I was still processing the whole alligator thing. We neophytes ordered fried chicken tacos, beef fajitas, chips and queso. All of these were delicious. The fried chicken tacos had bite-sized pieces of a chicken tender with the ordinary taco toppings of lettuce, tomato and cheese on a white corn shell. Sounds ordinary but wait, I haven't told you the best part yet. The taco came with a chipotle ranch dressing. And this chipotle ranch dressing was awesome. It was a creamy, fresh ranch that boasted the smoky heat of a chipotle. Without it, this taco would have been a disappointment. But with it, it made these tacos noteworthy. The steak fajitas were served with tender slices of skirt steak with grilled poblano peppers and onions, asadero cheese and pico. My favorite husband choose the mild fire-roasted tomato salsa. It had some heat but was not completely void of spiciness that so many salsas miss. The chips and queso were also right on the mark. The paper boat was over-flowing with crispy corn chips that carried just enough salt. The queso came in a 12-15 liquid ounce bowl. It was creamy and, again, right on the mark for spiciness. Not mild to the point of bland but not so spicy that your eyeballs sweat. The menu describes seven different kinds of salsas, from the one-flame fire-roasted tomato to the four-flame raspberry scorpion which is described as salsa made from the hottest pepper on Earth with a hint of raspberry. Our first time in, no one in our group felt courageous enough to try it but it definitely registered on the curiosity scale. Two tacos and two fajitas, chips and queso rang in at $20. Two tacos were the right size for me. My husband could have handled a third fajitas. All in all, good food with shopping money left over. Driving away with full shopping bags and tummies, I felt a little sad that it wasn't closer to the city so we could put it in the restaurant rotation. I was elated to learn from their website that they do have a location in Omaha (90 & Fort) AND a food truck! All of this leads to the coveted five stars. Try it! Love it! And then go to confession because, again, I don't know how this whole voodoo/Catholic thing can work out. I'm not sure what I've heard before or the draw for this place is, but I have little desire to go back. I've been here twice and on both occasions the meal and customer service wasn't worth the price. First, while it may seem like the prices are great here, that's because it's per taco. The average 'Murican is gonna eat at least two themselves so you can basically double the price of everything. We went hungry and paid the price of a high end restaurant which Voodoo Taco is not. Second, the customer service is seriously lacking. This last time we went in, surprised at the few number of people on a Sunday night, we had to wait for the girl taking orders to count out her tips (mind you it was an hour before closing time), then once she'd figured out how much cash she had coming to her, she pawned us off on someone else to take our order. Once we sat down it took ten minutes (reminder: it wasn't busy) for people, who came in after us, to get their chips and queso when we'd ordered the same thing too. We had to hunt down someone else who acted like we were trying to pull a fast one on them until we produced a receipt. So much for "customer is always right". When the tacos finally did come, they were nothing special and felt like they'd been waiting for a while and not warm anymore. Third, the place was a wreck. Rows of lights not turned on (not necessary to have a romantic setting), soda area was trashed, there was food diaspora all over the floor, and the restroom was dirty. Tried the Fish Taco's since it's only for a month. They were highly over peppered with a hard chewy Tortilla wrap which was a shame as the slaw was fresh and the pineapple was good. The Shrimp Taco had tiny dried up pre-frozen Shrimp with a sweet sickly sauce and again chewy old Torilla. Queso sauce was lackluster and gloppy. I've tried the other Voodoo taco in Omaha, and this one has the identical menu. I appreciate that there is one non-chain restaurant At the NEX outlets. We visited on a very busy and hit weekend. It was difficult to find a place to sit and the line was very long. Also their ice machine was broken and they were out of guacamole. The kitchen staff was running crazy trying to keep up, and I have to give them Kudos for that. I would like to suggest that they add more 2-seater tables instead of four-seater because almost everyone in the place was in a couple. Now on to the food... We ordered two tacos each plus cheese dip, and it was plenty of food! My Barbacoa taco was delicious, and the fried onions added a nice crunch. My dining companion ordered the green chile and carnitas taco, and she said they were delicious. My only complaint about the food is hat the chips are not evenly seasoned and some become very salty. I spoke to the owner at the other voodoo location about this same issue a few months ago, and he said he is working on it. I really wanted to like Voodoo Taco but I am sorely unimpressed. 1) The wait. Came here around 3 PM on a Saturday and there was not a single table open. We awkwardly stood around until people began clearing from the dining area. A restaurant being this packed on rather unusual dining hours must mean they're serving up great food, right? ... wrong. 2) Ordered the "Cajun Chicken Salad". It was a couple of pieces of bland chicken and grilled peppers (?) on some wilted lettuce. Their guacamole was just okay as well.
