Today was my 2nd time going to Voodoo. Went thru the drive thru and didn't have any issues, until I got to the pay window. The lady had on gloves, but accepted money/cards with the SAME gloves that she grabbed the donuts with! Didn't even seem concerned about cross contamination or Covid. Just nasty! I will say that the 1st time I went the donut was decent. Not amazing, but good. Also, it was already in the bag when I got to the window, so no clue if not changing gloves is their norm or a fluke. We didn't even get to try the donuts we waited at the drive through for 10 minutes ignored, she told us to "honestly just go inside" we went inside the donut shop. The lady at the register had gloves on taking peoples cards, touching the register, and checking out people's items. Then she goes and touches the donuts doesn't change her gloves out. Vodoo lived up to it's hype. Customer service was on point, friendly,fast & informative. This is a small location. Expect to wait in line and parking and seats are limited. We were able to sit and enjoy our donuts. We got a dozen,bit pricey, but the quality is worth the upside. Donuts were fresh,tasty and Oh so Yummy! Came here for the hype the 2nd day it opened. Stood in line IN THE RAIN but letmetellYALL! EVERYTHING WAS WORTH IT! The employees were nice and inviting. The line went by fast(in my opinion). We even sat down at a table and took some pictures. Even the bathrooms were cute and most importantly clean! ANYWHO. THE. DONUTS. Wow. I've been looking for a donut place besides Shipley's to go to and this place DOES NOT disappoint. The donuts were soft and good and not overly sweet. My fave was the maple bar. THE MAPLE. WOW. WOW. First off, I live super far from this location and always wanted to try it but never had the chance. Luckily, I was hired by the city to paint a mural nearby and by chance the manager of this location stopped by one morning while I was painting and invited us to come by after I was done painting for some donuts! Man oh man, not gonna lie, these donuts were to die for. She hooked us up with a huge box of pure deliciousness - each donut had a flavor story to tell, and left us wanting sequels, movie deals, the works. I gotta say, our fave hands down was the Voodoo doll and the custard filled round thing (they got weird names). Did I mention these donuts are huge?! Worth the trip, worth the price. OMG AMAZING the Donuts are the best in Houston!

The doughnuts here are not as fresh as the location in Austin. They aren't churning and making a fresh batch as their most popular locations in PDX and ATX. Long lines are non existent and it's rather quiet out these days. The storefront is not as charming as well. I don't know.. we have so many great doughnut shops and this one ain't it. I do like the pink themed color splattered around the shop and the quirky feel. Cute and funky names for their items as well. It's definitely a cool spot to bring out of town guests. But as mentioned.. there are several places that are nearby that make fresh donuts with simple good flavors. Some of the toppings here are overkill, there's more hype than substance. Jelly donut was probably my favorite.. full of raspberry jelly with a thick donut shell. Crisp and gooey. Next favorite was the plain cake donut.. with hints of nutmeg. Cake like and dense.. not too sweet. Buttermilk bar is good as well. Mostly the simple flavors. Voodoo supposedly is magically delicious.. but things are getting stale. Side note: coffee is good here.. local.. warm and fresh. Ask for milk. Pair it with your best liked item and you're good to go. My husband and I ordered some doughnuts to share and all the filled ones weren't proportionally filled. It was disappointing because only the bottom half or top half would have the filling and the rest just tasted like bread with really sweet frosting. I had high hopes for this location because we used to live in the PNW and would visit the Portland location. Ok so y'all gotta try these out. They make it really easy by offering a classic dozen (your basic glazed, cake, etc), voodoo dozen (most of their to-go specialty flavors), and vegan dozen, ranging from $14-23, with the most commonly ordered voodoo dozen right at $20. Good idea to get it to split amongst a group of friends or take to the office so you can get some bonus points with the boss (or a little respect if you ARE the boss). The parking lot is a cluster. I came on a Wednesday around 10:30am, thinking most everyone will be at work or the thought of getting something cool/special and possibly waiting in a long line would be marred by the fact that it was hump day. I was lucky enough to get the only remaining parking spot available and only one person in front of me in line. Within a few minutes, there were almost a dozen people behind me! Geez! I got 2 voodoo dozens for my office staff and a separate Tangfastic and maple cream. The maple cream was excellent, but not super fresh. It was still really good though, with plenty of frosting and filling to satisfy my sugar craving. The Tangfastic was gross. Cold, hard, dense... and the tangy flavoring did not seem to be ideal for a doughnut. That's my opinion though. I had one small bite and threw the rest out. From the voodoo dozen, I enjoyed the blueberry cake the most BY FAR!!! It is sooooo good--and I wasn't expecting a cake doughnut to surpass all the others, but it did! It's not dense, hard or cold like I had imagined it would've been. On the contrary, it seemed fluffy and fresh, with the perfect amount of glaze and blueberry flavor. Perfection! The voodoo doll and Portland cream came in a close second, would definitely get those again! Interior is fun, vibrant and staff is nice--they helped me to my car with all that I had! They just need to get that drive-thru open and the parking situation won't be such a mess. read more

I do believe Voo Doo Donuts has ruined me for regular donuts shops. They have the freshest donuts with best ganache on top! The only complaint I have with the voo doo dolls is the raspberry jelly needs to go the whole way through the doll/donut and not just 1/4 of the way.
