What to do on a very cold Chicago morning. Try a spot that has been on my collection list for years. The amount of donut to select from was overwhelming. The amount of vegan options was definitely a plus. Maple -(vegan) kind of overly sweet and the cake was just avg 3 out of 5 Buttermilk I should have got 2 of these instead they were not overly sweet and the cake was memorable and crispy. 3.5 out of 5
Since seeing Voodoo Doughnut on the Food Network, I was always intrigued to give them a try as their donuts seem to be funny, unique, risqué, and over-the-top. I had my first chance in San Antonio but I missed it because I was just feeling way too full after a decadent steak dinner down the street (Bohanon's??). Anyway, fast forward to them opening here in the West Loop - by Au Cheval, JP Graziano, Bar Siena, and Levain, I've been here no less than four (4) times and I would have to say my mind has been blown over and over again due to their creativity and generosity with ingredients!! My favorites are: - Memphis Mafia (at 1,800 calories, you're done for the day if you're maintaining your six (6) pack). - the homer (light and flavorful). - the Portland creme. - Grape Ape reminds me of this purple soda pop that I used to love as a kid. - the bacon maple long john is a complete meal. As for funny donuts, I would have to say it's the Voodoo doll, male genitalia, and the blunt. If you come here to eat at any of the above-mentioned places, you have an excellent reason to come to Voodoos for dessert. Note to self: These are really big donuts too, so cut them into quarters and have a wide variety with your latte.
This place is awesome because they have so many different flavors AND vegan options! From the vegan menu, we tried (from favorite to least favorite): vegan chocolate ring, Voodoo doll, maple bar, and old dirty bastard. From the regular menu: raised glaze and blueberry cake are my boyfriend's go-to picks. Voodoo offers a lot more unconventional flavors of their donuts but we definitely prefer their more classic, simple flavors. Service is always quick as donuts are ready-made. I've been here during lunch hours and 2am after a night out - it's never stale and lines have never been long during the times l've visited. There's 3 small tables inside, but I like to enjoy my donuts while walking around Fulton Market. There's also a bench in front if you want to sit outside.
I needed to order donuts for an early meeting event. I needed variety and the ability to pick up fore 7 am. Voodoo has the ability to order ahead so I placed the order the night before. I walked in at 6:45 and it was ready on time and all the donuts looked fresh and obviously tasty. My group was excited to see the familiar pink box and appreciated the order! On other visits, the line has always moved fast and we havent had issues thus far.
SWWEEEEEETTTT novelty spot! Voodoo Doughnut definitely hit the spot for the kiddos! It would right! Plenty of varieties and interesting flavors that were presented upon arrival. The building itself seemed very well unique so we had to check em out. Thank god for no line, as stated in many reviews the long waited out lines. Voodoo Doughnut was very clean and staff were really friendly. We ordered the Homer( pink sparkle donut), grape ape (blue sparkle) and a plain cake donut. A little too sweet for my taste but kiddos went bananas! First time checking them out and glad we did! Check em out!
This is a great stop for donut lovers who want to try something different and crazy. I really liked the shops personality, and the chandeliers are the best! We tried the bubble gum donut, and yes, it really did have a piece of gum right in the center! Lol The variety of flavors on display is impressive, cereal-topped options to bacon-covered bars, etc. I do wish we had arrived earlier to try the coffee too, sadly, we missed out this time, hope to try it out soon.
Solid late night donut spot with a wide variety to choose from. I've tried a handful over a few visits and definitely liked some more than others, but there's enough variety that it's fun to mix it up. I've been here multiple times now and the location is super convenient. The shop always seems clean, and the customer service has been consistently great. A reliable stop when you're craving donuts late at night.
Great selection of donuts to try that we're all very good. Great item to bring to a gathering so everyone can sample. Inside is very cool with the spinning donut case and the service was friendly and quick! Definitely a cool spot to check out in the WL! Pro Tip: go earlier in the morning when donuts are fresh and there is no line :)
Phenomenal service. A very patient and helpful young dude w glasses and gauges helped us in a Monday at like, 820. He was manning the counter alone (his coworker Hess on break), and it had a little rush of a few groups and he really kept it running very smoothly. As a former GM, I was highly impressed w his ability to provide such exceptional service for everyone as well as keep the line moving quickly. He was also super friendly. We got a few dozen vegan donuts and they were really good. Prices are in line w all the other voodoo locations. We've been to the Portland one and the one in the South Bay.
Voodoo doughnut had quite a lot of options and also many Vegan options which is great. We tried the Voodoo Doll, Portland Cream (Vegan) and Chocolate Old Fashioned. All 3 were great. Service was quick and good for when you need to pick up doughnuts on the go. The ambience was quite pink and pretty.
I've known about Voodoo for more than a decade now and all the craze in Portland. First, I'm not a big fan of donuts to begin with. But if I were to eat one, I'd rather it may melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Warm, gooey, etc. I find Voodoo donuts to be dry and it's often served after sitting for a while. It's a fun stop for out-of-town guests though, because of the unique flavor combinations and funky names. All in all, a unique one-time experience but not a go-to dessert stop for me.

Voodoo Doughnut has opened in the Chicagoland area, and I spent New Year's Day seeing where the magic happens. Before entering the doughtnut haven there's a banner of donuts on the window so you can plan ahead what you want to get. Sometimes the lines can get pretty long. Upon entering, you're greeted with a mesmerizing carousel of doughnuts. Luckily, I planned ahead and went to the website and read every doughnut description and made a list of each donut I wanted to purchase. There's yeast and cake type donuts. I like them both. There's so many donuts and it will take a few visits to taste all of them. I was pretty happy with my choices, which included Oh Captain, My Captain, Butterfingering, Chocolate Coconut Cake, Double Chocolate, Mango Tango, and Maple Old Fashioned! read more

I've been wanting to check out Voodoo for a while now, and so glad I was able to finally stop in. They have a wide variety of donuts to choose from. Out of the many I chose from, I loved the banana cream & maple bacon long John. Can't wait to go back! read more
Ordered delivery though DoorDash (which is perfect for snowy day) - the order was very fresh, donuts are huge! I got the regular ones as well as vegan voodoo signature - surprisingly loved the vegan more! They have plenty of options for both vegan and non vegan - so take your pick :) the favorite one was the mango - very unique flavor for donuts. They have so many more I'm wanting to try - I will be coming back P.S. Main taste tester of the household refused to take donut photos without his presence they're that good read more
So excited I got to try voodoo! Very cool place I love all the pink! Staff was friendly as well, I was able to bring my doggy in! Ordering was a bit stressful, all the donuts are displayed on a rotating shelf and it's hard to see all the flavors until they rotate in front of you. I felt stressed because of the long line and panicked. I would order ahead next time! Besides that, these are my favorite donuts in the city! They are so big! My favorite was the Boston crème, they were not skimpy on the crème! The banana crème pie was also very good full of flavor! Even a day after I got these they were still fresh! I was so excited to try this place out after hearing so much about it. $25 got us about 5 assorted donuts to try. We arrived later in the evening, no like no wait. It was very bright, woke me right up; didn't even need caffeine. We ordered our donuts, and they were packed in minutes. Every donut I tried was delicious. I love the jelly filled ones the most, especially the vodoo doll. The donuts were cute and tasty. I will be back. read more
What a great way to end 2023 by having Chicago's own Voodoo Donuts location!! My first time trying Voodoo was in Colorado and I fell in love. Upon entering, you are immediately greeted by their high energy staff which really sets the mood. They have their donuts on display via a revolving stand. They have so many flavors to choose from that it can be overwhelming but exciting. My choices were - grape ape, maple bacon bar, Go-tart, and Portland cream. Mind you these donuts are HUGE so its perfect for sampling & sharing with friends. I bought the Portland cream for my bf because he likes cream donuts and I don't. The grape ape is sweet and tasted like grape kool-aid. The Go-tart is supposed to be like a pop tart (my only criticism on it is that the jelly filling was only on 1 side of the donut). read more

I don't know that Chicago really needed a doughnut infusion from the West Coast, but if you haven't tried Voodoo Doughnuts at their original locations, it's nice to be able to try them in Chicago. We grabbed a few to try and prices ranged from $3 to $4.75 each. It was nice that they were all on display, so you can easily select what you are interested in. They will have stiff competition with Chicago stand-outs like Do-Rite and Stan's. read more

Finally made it down to Voodoo donuts. I completely forgot there is a chicago location until we seen it at Fulton Market. We had to go there. At the spot my wife and I split the old dirty bastard. Upon the first bite regretted splitting with her. We then ordered the classic dozen to take home as we were not sure when we can make it back. We also had to share some with the kids. read more
I've always seen so much hype for Voodoo donuts and it's nice that there's a location in Chicago! I got the Dirt, Smores and Blueberry raised donut. The dirt was great and I recommend it for those who enjoy oreos/cookies and cream. The smores donut was so indulgent, filled with marshmallow cream. The blueberry one was also good but probably not the best in the city. The service was pretty quick and I love that your donuts come in a cute pink box. If you're in the area and need a donut fix, this spot is a great choice! read more

Even after living in Austin for 5 years, I never got to try the famous voodoo doughnuts. We came in Saturday night to order a couple of different flavors. I liked the Homer slice and the old dirty bastard the best. We also got the Diablo Rex, sprinkle cake, and ring of fire. I'm glad I tried these, and they were all a good price point; however, I like the other donut shops in Chicago overall in terms of taste. read more

Stopped in the other day because the outside of the building caught my attention. There are so many different types of donuts to pick from and are pretty tasty and don't cost a bunch of money. The only downfall is they only take card payments and no cash. I bought two donuts and was going to pay cash because it was so cheap but had to pay card. There was one gentleman working when I stopped in and he was friendly. read more
I was very excited that we now have voodoo in Chicago. We came here later in the day and it wasn't super busy, but then people started coming in all at once. I felt a little rushed because there were a lot of people. Ordering was a little confusing because it's my first time there. The employee wasn't too friendly when I asking/making my options. I wanted to try their apple fritter, but it was sold out for the day. We ended up getting the voodoo dozen. I had tried the Portland cream one and another that I forgot what it was, but I wasn't too impressed with them. Tasted like any other place? Nothing really stood out really. I do want to go back to try the apple fritter though lol read more

Okay - I have tried these twice so I didn't give a 3 star for a one time misfire, but yet here I am, giving a 3 star after the second try and I think it's warranted. First off - the staff here is wonderful. Everyone is so chill and kind and patient. I love that. Especially when I take my kids because they have a little anxiety around lots of people and they're learning how to interact in these situations and just... 10/10 for the employees. Second of all - the donut selection. Wonderful. 10/10 for options. Lastly - I do not think the donut quality is very good. We have ordered the employee selected dozen twice. And I wonder if they aren't taking the leftover day old donuts and putting them in those which from a business standpoint is smart, but from a consumer standpoint the donuts have never tasted fresh to us at all. They taste like grocery store donuts with decorations. Really frustrating because I was so pumped for this place to open, but I don't think we'll ever go again. ETA- this got a 3 instead of a 2 from me purely because I hold out hope that if you order in-person the day of the donuts are fresh. read more
loved all the variety of donuts inside. they even had some specials going on. the line was going pretty quick and you can even order ahead. we got 6 donuts to try and i'd say our favorite was the cannoli one, captain crunch and the banana cream. i'd come back, the quality and sizing is good and for the price. read more
Funny and unique donuts with many flavors including one that that is part of the male body :-). Everyone gets a kick out of that one. The display for the donuts is so colorful and you want to try each one. They have tables here and they have drinks as well and the decor inside is really a lot of fun to look at. This one is in the heart of west loop near all the restaurants and there is diagonal parking right in front but you have to pay through the app for meters about $4 per hour or so. read more
I like voodoo donuts a lot and was excited for them to come to chicago! The prices are pretty reasonable for where it's located and there's a ton of variety. 1 star off because I've had them twice and they have not been hitting the same way as the ones I had in Portland - a lot of them like the signature voodoo donut and the Oreo one felt way too sweet (and I have a real sweet tooth). Maybe I need to try other flavors that are more balanced. But they may need to work on their recipe or they won't compare favorably to Chicago favorites like Stans and do-rite. read more

Checked out Chicago's first Voodoo Doughnuts! The store front itself is hard to miss with the bright pink brick and large black branding letters. I loved that they had a large window graphic outside showing their main doughnut offers to understand what you want to order and if anything sounds good before even walking in. The inside has some fun wall graphics, two doughnut displays, minimal seating, and merch for purchase. I got the Portland Cream (their take on a boston cream) and boy was it good! The main doughnut tasted like a baked cake constancy. Overall it was sweet but not overbearing. I loved that they have vegan options as well! Pricing is a bit steep but one knows they are going there for the special experience Voodoo has to offer. read more

Portland crème and Maple bacon update: I went back and forth on my ratings for these two between Voodoo and Do rite and as much as it pains me to say it, Voodoo wins on fluffy moist texture and outsize portions and flavor. Still love do rite but if I'm in Fulton's market area Voodoo wins. read more
The Donuts are worth the stop at any time of day! I love cake donuts and I am so sad they don't have one where I am from. I am a sucker for a chocolate cake donut. This one was so good! The first time I tried Voodoo Doughnut was in San Antonio, Texas and was not fan. So I was hesitant to give it another try in Chicago. I let the newness wear off and ended up trying it twice in a week and my experience in Chicago was much better! Service is a bit slow, but I couldn't tell if that was because of staff or people ordering simply not knowing what they want. The line is usually longish when I've been there or driven by. They should consider putting a sandwich board of the menu or top sellers along the line. Kind of like Jeni's across the street does. People clearly want to see the donuts up close and printed photos of them (or a QR code leading to something similar) could go a long way. The inside of Voodoo looks similar to all the others. Nothing to write home about tbh. The doughnuts are good. Much better than my San Antonio experience. The Homer and Glazed Old Fashioned were my favorite. And since visiting the first time I've experienced the morning and late night crew at this location and the quality of the doughnut and customer service experience is about the same. Some of the newness has worn off (at the time of writing this, a month after ordering) but I hope this place remains consistent, if so I'll be a consistent customer! read more
So happy that Voodoo donuts finally opened in Chicago. We tried the pink donut with sprinkles, the mango donut, the chocolate donut and the voodoo doll donut. All donuts were so tasty! There was a bit of a line at the store, but it was fast moving. Also, the staff was well informed and friendly. The decor is very eclectic with big logos, a big merch table, pink walls and bright decor. The seating looked limited though. A must try if you love eclectic donuts! read more
Brand new to the Chicago Fulton market scene, these doughnuts are worth the hype! Bringing its creative flare from the west coast, these delicious treats are melt in your mouth good, but a word from the wise, check out the menu before you stop by, or while you are waiting in line as the choices can be overwhelming. Every flavor possible, Alex, was such a huge help. Our first time visiting, luckily on a week day morning with no line, he walked us through the items, giving us a few notable mentions, and was very friendly and personable. I would avoid the store on the weekends, and don't forget to check out their merchandise! read more
