First time visiting Chicago and ORC did not disappoint!! It was located in a cute little neighborhood with a cute outdoor seating area. The decor was amazing, so colorful, bright, and inviting! Customer service was top-notch and we just so happened to visit during their happy hour, select items were just $5 There were so many flavors and items to choose from and the slices of ice cream on a cone were amazing Definitely looking forward to visiting other locations when we go back!! read more

Was looking to get ice cream late at night with my friends. I have an allergy and the staff was very accommodating in making sure they scoop from a separate container in the back and to change gloves and everything. The inside is really cute and a great spot to go to! I got a standard ice cream scoop but all of the other menu items such as the waffles look really good. read more

RUDE STAFF TRIED TO KICK US OUT, PAYING CUSTOMERS. I went there last night with my sister and my son, we drove 25 min to get there. As soon as we walked in, the lady at the register looked bothered and tired. I get it, it was probably a long day of scooping ice cream for her. I didn't take it personal, and was still nice even though she was being very rude to us. We had never been there before and my sister was taking a while to order (there was no one in line behind us waiting) and at one point she even rolled her eyes. We then sat down to eat our ice cream, there was only one other couple in there. My son is 4 yrs old, and can be loud sometimes. Like any 4 yr old. He wasn't yelling, he was simply talking a lot and getting excited. After about 15 min, this lady looks at us and asks us to sit outside. I was genuinely so confused I didn't even realize she was talking to me at first. When my sister told me she was talking to us, I asked her "who, us" and she said "yes, go outside" and I simply just ignored her bc why would I go outside ? My sister then told me she had giving my son dirty looks, I hadn't noticed bc I was trying to enjoy their mid ice cream. I then asked the couple sitting right next to us if my son was bothering them? They immediately replied no and tried to comfort me by saying she was out of line and had no reason to ask us to leave. Honestly I didn't want to make a scene in front of my son, but I wish I had said more to her. I was genuinely hurt and confused. I mean what mother wouldn't be? And if you're reading this, I'm sorry you're miserable, get a new job hon. Maybe one not in customer service. Have the day you deserve. read more

My brother was visiting and I told him that the Original Rainbow Cone was a Chicago food institution, so he wanted to try it (but opted to get it in a cup). I haven't had it in years, but the ice cream flavors are fun (Palmer House is one of my faves and is a bit unique in my opinion). But also the ice cream quality is pretty good and it was really easy to finish this between the two of us. By that, I mean I feel like sometimes I try ice cream and have enough before I finish the serving, but I thought this was a great portion and a delight to eat. The inside is very colorful to match the Rainbow Cone colors. The decor is a little cheugy/basic, but not unsurprising. Conclusion is the rainbow cone is definitely worth trying if you're in the mood for ice cream, but I probably don't need to have it anytime soon. read more

Great addition to Division Street! If you haven't ever tried rainbow cone it's a must. For just shy of $7 after tax you get a pretty generous portion in a cup or cone and can upgrade to a waffle cone for a bit more. Pictured I got the cosmic birthday flavor which was delicious! The ice cream drip catcher on the cone is pretty smart too I must add. Rainbow cone won't be the best ice cream you've ever had in your life but it's a Chicago staple :) read more

5 out of 5 stars 10 out of 10 times! I have been a lifelong Rainbow Cone fan (I'm 28 years old) and will forever be. I was so excited to hear they were opening a location in my neighborhood and of course, had to check it out immediately! I was greeted upon arrival by a stunning pink patio space which alerted me that I was at the right place There were tons of benches and spaces for people to enjoy their ice cream outside which I loved especially given the location on Division. I went inside and absolutely loved the interior with all of the bright Rainbow cone colors as all of their locations have! They had a few tables inside to sit at as well to the left of the ordering area. There were a lot of people when I went but I expected that as Rainbow Cone is so popular and they just had opened. I ordered my tried and true Rainbow Cone and it was delightful as always. In addition, the staff was beyond kind and helpful despite how busy they were when I was there. My boyfriend got a chocolate shake which came with little donuts on top which I thought was adorable. Our ice cream was SO good as always and of course, we will be back. I will note, I noticed a few individuals talking about how long the wait time was (I waited maybe 10 minutes at best which isn't even long for the city honestly) but I need everyone to realize this is a NEW location and the staff is LEARNING. Please give them grace AND kindness as they work through their first few weeks of opening and I can promise you, you will not be disappointed if you go whether it be today or months from now. This place is fantastic along with their staff and I know you will have the same experience if you go! I cannot talk highly enough of Rainbow Cone and love this new location! I ordered the mini donuts that claim they are freshly made. In fact they are not freshly made. They are microwave slop.. they are soft mushy and dry. No crisp on them like how a freshly made donut would have. I ordered the cinnamon sugar, glaze, turtle, and sprinkle. All were stale tasting cheap garbage. Cant believe they are trying to pass off old microwaved donuts as freshly made. False advertising and a disgusting act in their part. read more

A fun place to take out of town guests to try this Chicago staple! They have various rainbow cone style flavors - but the original is a must try. The flavors blend together so well and it tastes as good as it looks! This location is super spacious on the inside and they have a whole square of outdoor seating which is perfect for the summertime. It definitely melts quickly but they do give a little ice cream catcher attached to the cone. Overall recommend trying the original rainbow cone at least once! read more

A real gem in the neighborhood. Of course, the original "Rainbow Cone," is the popular choice, but don't be afraid to try the other flavors. Big muddy, and Palmer House are really good. There are a few tables inside, but sitting outside in the summer and people watching can't be beat. They also carry pints and quarts to take home. My favorite is the free pup cups for your dog. read more

The Good: I love Rainbow Cone, and it's cool to see them expanding. The store is absolutely beautifully designed. The staff seemed nice enough, and it wasn't too busy but had a steady crowd moving through it when we were there on a recentThursday evening. The Bad: I think the owner/operator needs to work with the management of this store a bit more on training, and upkeep of the facilities. First, the trash was overflowing, which is just a bad look in any food service establishment, but it especially stands out when the store is brand new and adorable. Second, the bathroom was "out of order" (or at least, that's what the sign said, though I did see employees go in there and come out a few minutes later). Not sure if it was a facility issue, or if they just didn't want to clean, but it was pretty not great hanging out with a toddler who had to go use it. again, solid product and an absolutely stunning store, so it was super disappointing to see it already looking trashy and non-functional. read more

If you look at this rainbow cone you'd think it was invented for social media. So many places are nowadays. Even the set up of this location would lead you to believe that. From the cute ice cream cone prop, to the bright colors and polka dots everywhere. But then! When you look at the back wall you see photos that show you the original location opened almost 100 years ago! The flavors of the cone are also "old" tasting in a way of being nostalgic. the orange sherbet is so refreshing and a standout that reminded me of my grandmother. Sweet Treats and Sweet Vibes! This ice cream parlor is straight out of a dream! The ambiance is so pretty, it feels like you've stepped into an Instagram filter - in the best way possible! The customer service was amazing too; everyone was so friendly, I half expected them to hand me a crown and declare me "Queen of Ice Cream!" The hardest part? Deciding between all the delicious flavors - I felt like a kid in a candy store... except with ice cream. EZ in EZ out!! If you can't afford to bring your girlfriend to Italy, throw in a Jack's pizza and then bring her down for some ice cream and music!
