I've had the fried chicken at the deli and it's too salty for me and the lady at the deli counter seems to always be in a rush. It was hard to flag her down and she was short with me when I didn't have my order ready. Checking out is easy at self check out but when there is an issue there's one person working and if they're tied up you'll be stuck at your register waiting. I guess it's my fault for not checking for expiration dates but I'm tied of spending $$ on meat that seems bad as soon as I bring it home and other grocery items. The most recent is the parm/romano cheese that has a march, 2026 expiration date and looks like it actually expired a year ago. I also think this place is goes too far with self checkout. This is my local grocery store. It's so convenient and easy. I'm in and out within 10 mins if I stick by my grocery list. The fruits (especially raspberries, blueberries, strawberries) is a hit or a miss, but I feel like that's all the grocery stores. I love that they have a self checkout now and it's usually short. I decided to go to Vons with my boyfriend at 9:30 on Saturday night. Tell me why the security guard MANED me up at front of the door when I asked him where the baskets were??? I wanted to buy ingredients for spaghetti so I had some things in my hand. But the guy didn't even answer my question, basically ignoring me. I placed an online order on 10/30 for 12 12 paks of soda clipping the deal offered buy 2 get 2 free. Somehow at checkout I was charged $134.78.. when I realized my price wasn't being adjusted, I called customer service on 11/2 877-723-3929. Spoke to a rep, explained the situation. She said she has to send to manager for approval. She gave reference # of 21800794. She asked i wait 5 business days to get the refund. Nothing appeared. I called same # again on 11/14 spoke to Michael who told me there was no motes regarding my conversation on 11/2. I explained everything to him again and was told he had the authority to grant the refund, it just needed a manager to sign off. He gave me a new reference # 22045342. Still no results. I called for the 3rd time and spoke to a gal who had no idea what she was doing. Its been a month and they still have my $54.28 ... I hope there's someone out there with deep pockets that this has happened to so we can all file a lawsuit against them. This happened to them before so you'd think they'd learn. i love vons... it's usually quite empty here but last night was a bit more busy. it's in a great location and the staff are helpful. this vons feels a bit smaller than a few ive been to and ive noticed the selection can be a little smaller but otherwise i can get most things here. i'm always amazed by my total because it'll always be much less than i expected. the fresh made food is so yummy and delicious... the staff are always ready to answer any questions and assist however they can. it's really one of the first grocery stores i'll go to in the area, since the stater bros around are always so packed, and don't even think about going to sprouts! the best around, always least amount of people with good selection. very fresh produce and essentials. love getting the freshest bread and pastries here! read more

One of the best places to get flowers. Small area but they have some fresh flowers with good prices. The service is good and friendly. They try their best to move the lines along with the limited amount of workers. I like that the store is nice and cold. The produce, meat and dairy area is clean and organized. Not a fan of the bakery or the donuts but to me it's not something that is a deal breaker. The Friday deals are good. Clean area and the front of the store is also clean. It is nice that there's carts in front of the store and you don't need a quarter for them. It is located on a busy street and next to a CVS a with plenty of parking. This is your average grocery store with your basic necessities. The meat and seafood is a limited selection but it seems to be typical of Vons. The store brand Signature Select bread is pretty good and on par with Oroweat in my opinion. My family's's favorite flavor is the Nut & Grain in the purple packaging. The freshly baked cookies I recently discovered are excellent. I like crispy cookies and they are the perfect texture when fresh, must try the Brownie cookies. The chocolate chip are just as good if you want something less decadent. For some reason, the deli section's fresh fried and baked chicken display case with the potato wedges was cleared and empty the last two times I went. Maybe someone broke the window because there was no barrier for the empty case. They do still sell it but make sure you ask. I've had an issue where they will tell me that the chicken would be ready in 30 minutes, it was 12pm, around lunchtime so I shopped around and came back 20 minutes, asked again, and was told it was 30 minutes. I pointed out that the previous associate told me 30 minutes, 20 minutes prior. She explained that they just washed So this time, I waited in the deli section for yet another 30-40 minutes. By this time, there were 5-6 other people behind me also waiting for the fried chicken. They bagged the chicken in the back and said there was a limit of one per customer since only one oven was functioning. Some suggestions for management to improve service: Display a timer to show when chicken will be ready so customers don't need to constantly ask how long when it's ready. I think we'd all also appreciate more accurate times for the chicken, especially because no one in their right mind would be willing to wait a whole hour for fried chicken. Maybe we need to call in ahead of time to reserve chicken like a catering ordering. read more

I love my Vons supermarket & have been shopping here for years. It is clean, & carts are sanitized. Employees, cashiers, managers are friendly and helpful, respectful and wearing masks. I love their great deli area, I love their salads, ready to heat large variety of soups, hot roasted whole chicken, chicken pieces grilled, barbecue & fried. I also appreciate the wonderful fresh flowers by the dozen, well stocked liquor dept, fresh vegestables dept & really appreciate the chopped ready to cook vegestables, ready to eat salads and the fresh meat dept is great & enjoy their baby back ribs. I had a horrible experience with their delivery service. Everyone - from the agents on the app to supervisors in the store gave me the run around. My order went from being hours late to just cancelled without my knowledge. When I finally spoke with the supervisor they said there was an issue with getting into the coded gate of my apartment building - even though I listed the code under the instructions. I have never had this issue with Instacart, DoorDash, Amazon, or Shipt. I am still without groceries as have difficulty leaving the house while I work from home and care for a 6 month old. This store is located right on Vincent and they are Cameron. So it's pretty convenient for me. Close to the mall and freeway. I felt like writing this review because of my experience today. I had bought some ground beef and didn't know that there was a small hole on plastic wrap so the meat went bad. I went in to get it exchanged and a girl and Daniel was able to help me right away even though there was a long line. I felt a little bad that I was holding up the line when the girl that helped was running up the stairs to get the override card. The people in line were very sweet and weren't in a rush. So overall experience for the store is that the staff are very helpful. The prices at the store are a bit more higher in the compared to the other grocery stores, but it could be justified with their level of service commitment. read more

Last Friday I went in to pick up my online order for fried chicken. The Deli manager Veronica was so rude and unprofessional. The deep fryer broke which I completely understand and Ismael did call me an hour before my pick up time to offer me baked chicken and a discount ( he was very polite and helpful). Not a big fan of VONS, but this was the next closest grocery store from where I was. I particularly don't go to VONS because their prices are a bit higher than most grocery stores. The store is clean and well kept. I do go here for some higher end items that I know I will find here. Funny thing though...I was here to buy a can of Land O Lakes whip cream, which is a pretty expensive product, so I figured it would be here. Nope, it wasn't! I actually ended up buying it at Albertsons. Who would have thought. Anyways, it's a bit dark in the store. That's not a good thing for me. I don't like shopping in dark places. I know they probably are trying to conserve on the energy, especially it being the afternoon, but low light doesn't make my shopping experience better, actually worse. Weird, but that's me. I've come and gone through this location quite a number of times over the decade that I have lived in West Covina. The service is a little slower than other supermarkets, but it's 1 of 2 larger chains within minutes from my home. This location is mediocre at best; my younger brother worked at the Vons in Walnut, and he also has noticed how badly this location differed from the his old store. Well let's fast forward to today. My father went by this location after work to pick up a few items and noticed a "Just for U" coupon for an item that he wanted to get. The coupon was not being applied when the cashier was ringing everything up, so the cashier called the manager over. This lady basically accused my father of lying (without actually saying those words) and stated that he must have used it earlier. The app is tied to his cell phone number and no one at our household has shopped there in months. Let's just say I'm very shocked to hear how a manager of this store treated him over something that could be a glitch in their system. By reading other reviews here on Yelp, I see that there are quite a number of people complaining about how downhill this store has gone. I will not be doing any more of my shopping here, and will make sure my household does our shopping at the other chain supermarket. I hope corporate sees this review and audits how this store is ran. Maybe then, they can fix the customer experience at this location. read more
