Went to get a couple of things this morning, no cashiers at registers I proceeded to check out myself. Noticed an elderly couple had been waiting for cashier and when they asked I'm guessing the manager. Expressed with rudeness to couple that there were no cashiers and he need to help in self check out. I proceeded to pay and as everything played in front of me I had to speak out loud to him you should have patience and watch the way you talk to them. I'm pretty sure you wouldn't like someone thanking to your parents that way. No response from him and he proceeded to scan the items. Manager or employee shouldn't be speaking to customers with that response or that tone. If you don't have cashiers before you open the store to customers, you shouldn't be opening the doors then. I've been stuck in lines before at this location and ever since they added a self check out line everything runs smoother. 5/5 Service I'll be honest I've avoided coming here but I was pleasantly surprised how smoothly the checkout is now with the self check out. They are advertising curbside pick up which is awesome! 4/5 Food Produce looks okay. But when you need to run for some emergency needs you go wherever. I come here for my veggies, plant based milk, oatmeal, and bread. Sometimes the alcohol is on sale. I like their red tag specials. Sometimes they're worth it to stock up on more and other times no. Like what another review said, their prices can be deceiving because sometimes their red tag prices are their regular prices or even higher than regular price even though it's marked as a red tag special. There were several times where I calculated and the bigger item was more expensive than when you get multiple of their little items. Hope that makes sense. Make sure you check the expiration dates and how many items you need to purchase to get those red tag specials prices. Customer service could use some improvement with a few employees. The fresh produce is often past its prime, so I usually shop elsewhere for fruits and veggies. I tend to stick to jarred, boxed, and frozen items, which are convenient and budget-friendly. They do offer fresh Bello bread--definitely grab it when it's just out of the oven! On Christmas Day, I bought a flan cake for my family. I was really looking forward to it and excited to see my family's reaction when I got home. However, when I opened the cake, I was shocked to find that all of the fruit on top was covered in mold. The cake was clearly not fresh, and I was worried it could make us sick, so we did not eat it at all. Because of this, we ended up spending Christmas without a cake, which was very disappointing. I had gone out of my way to buy it, and it completely ruined the mood of our Christmas. The next day, I brought the entire uneaten cake back to the store. I had already thrown away the moldy fruit, but the cake itself was untouched. When I explained what happened, the woman in charge of the cakes did not believe me and said that this kind of thing does not happen at their store. She refused to give me a refund. I calmly asked to speak with the manager. When the manager came, she also did not seem to believe me and had a very unpleasant attitude. She looked annoyed and only refunded my money reluctantly, as if he had no choice. The behavior of both the bakery staff and the manager was extremely unprofessional and left me feeling upset for the rest of the day. Good market for all of your grocery needs. Store is well stocked and very organized. Prices are deceiving on many products. You will find deals on items which are on sale however, items priced at regular, everyday prices are definitely on the high end such as milk and bread. I'll definitely continue shopping at Walmart for groceries as their prices are always lower than all the other markets in the area Service is slow and on the three occasions I have visited this store, the check out lines are always 5-6 customers deep. read more

First thing I noticed as the wide aisles, neatly stock and the store was neat, clean and organized. Perused the whole store and found several items not normally found at mainstream chains. Large location with plenty of parking. Store seems to be well stocked. I love the bakery area. I bought a cake, and it was delicious. It's a good market when looking for certain Mexican products. The checkout lines are ALWAYS super long! Be prepared to wait a while since it takes forever! Also, some customers don't follow the rules for the express/10 items or less lanes. They will have a cart full of items and pretend it's 10 items or less. Get the hot foods. The beans are delicious! Love the cheese & jalapeno, chicken, and pork tamales! Their salsa is good too. They have refrigerated beans, but why go for that if the Hot Food Section is still opened? The Meat Department has a funky smell to it. Smells like a mixture of meat and cleaning products. September and November 2021 visits. Really decent market to visit if you're a local or passing through the area looking for specific niche items. I usually stop by here when I visit the L.A. area as I can pick up Mexican spices at a great price. Same for the Tadin brand of tea for the price along with selection. Being that I live in Vegas, the prices for the same items can be exorbitantly high, [2-3x higher.] That's usually all I get from here. I'm not a fan of their produce section as it's mostly gmo. Their bread, cake, and tortilla section always smells good on the way in and is visually appealing. Bags are 10¢ each if you don't bring your own, so be warned. Parking lot is huge, shared by the surrounding businesses, with a very limited amount of handicap stalls. It's an ok area, but not the best of surroundings as it borders Azusa and Covina. Lot looks and smells like it could use a deep clean. Also be careful as a pedestrian making your way to the entrance, quite a few speeding drivers looking for that close parking spot. Some stores I am hesitant to buy my meat from, but not this one, it is so fresh and never has a bad odor. I bought a cake. Asked for raspberry filling, marble cake, red roses & paid $10 extra for fresh strawberries. Thr order was confirmed a few days before. About 30 minutes BEFORE I was scheduled to pick it up, they called to say they didn't have raspberry. So I asked for strawberry. When I got there...SO DISAPPOINTED. Writing looked like a kid did it & it wasn't even centered. No roses. The cake is white only. I heard him tell his employee this morning to add the marinade juice inside the bag and than to weight the meat. That's horrible service. Ruined our Christmas Dinner. So where do you go on Christmas morning when you forgot the main course of roast beef. Well, I shouldn't have ever been here, but nothing else was open. I looked at the rib eye roasts already in the meat area. They didn't look that great. So I saw meats at the butcher counter that looked good. Only came out to a little over $20.00. After he weighs it, he throws it in a plastic bag with no paper in between the meats. Didn't wrap it butcher paper like you're supposed to. I worked as a meat cutter in college and they had strict requirements back then. My uncle was a meat inspector. I know, I know... i should have walked away. Where is the USDA sticker??? Well the damage was done and at home I applied all the seasonings that I normally do, but absolutely nothing could salvage this crappy meat. It was horrible. It was beyond a doubt a disaster. CPR... naaah. It was deader than dead. Even my dog walked away from it. So what do you do with this $20.00+ disaster. In the trash. So I had to use the restroom at Superior Grocers. One word.... pathetic. Dirty floors, paper towels and toilet paper everywhere, walls and ceiling graffitied, urine smell. This represents the business. There is absolutely no excuse for this. As I walked out of the restroom, I had a view of the back part of the bakery department. Their floors were dirty. Not just dirty, but the dirt appeared embedded. Parking lot was very dirty with papers, trash. On a good note, the employees we encountered were very helpful and friendly., especially Anosh. I like this Superior location. I used to shop here alot when i lived in Covina. I recently stopped here after visiting my brother in Covina. They are on the border of Covina in Azusa off of Citrus and Arrow hwy. They take care of the store inside. The outside look so bad with baskets all laying around in the parking lot. The store is clean and i bought fresh meat and vegetables here. Big store compared to some others i know. Staff are nice here. Sometimes the lines are long with not enough staff. Better to come here during the daytime hours. Anyways, always a pleasure to visit here. read more

On Friday December 9th at approximately 4:00pm-5Pm my fiancé walked in to your Covina location grocery store seeking a job. She went up to a gentleman working in the produce department and asked if they where hiring, he directed her to a heavier set older man in a blue shirt, the gentlemen said he was the manager and warned her he was mean. While she talking to your store director, Marco Rodriguez, about a possible job opportunity, she was asked whether or not if she was a citizen. Marco specifically stated that he wanted to know if she was a citizen because she spoke Spanish. She was discriminated against and told she was lying and wasting his time. She talked to him at right in front of the black sliding doors between the juice/dairy department and seafood department. There is a camera right above. My fiancé texted me right around 5pm saying a manger of some sort mistreated her, I was working at the time and was upset to hear this. knowing I'm a manger and would never mistreat or discriminate anyone. Just cause your a manger does not give you the will power to treat others wrongfully. It's your job to respect and provide the best costumer service the best possible ways you can. I get it, we all have bad days at work but it's your JOB and you hold an important title as a MANAGER. So after I call the store around 9:30 and talked to Hilda your store female manager, she expressed how sorry she was and she thinks she knows who am talking about and said she will put in a claim or complaint and call me the next day. So I never herd back from her, so I do happen to stop by to get groceries on Wednesday December 14 right before 8 pm.( few days later) I asked the security who was the manager and she pointed me to Hilda. I went up to Hilda with my fiancé and told her you never called me back and she said she was so sorry and the was going to but she was sick. Ok well you should have had the audacity to inform someone eles to make the call or followed up. As a manger it's your job to follow up with any kind of discrimination or complaint. She was nice about it, as I think she handled herself respectfully. She then called over Ernesto Sandoval and he said who my fiancé was talking to was the store director. I said no way!!! I can't believe this. I told him I need all there names and corporates number. I told him this this wasn't and he didn't seem to care he said there was nothing they can do.he was being passive aggressive and agreed that he doesn't think it was wrong that he asked for her papers knowing that he said he knew it by her language. I told him it's for E-verify to confirm that, not assuming without knowing.I told him most of my employees are hard working individuals but what gets me is we are costumers.I have to be honest Hilda handled herself respectfully and apologetic me that's what a store manager does but what a store manger should not do is "Not Follow up" she was very apologetic and I respect her for that. Only it makes it seem she didn't care either cause she never followed up. And that right there so why you get emails like this and lose customers. It makes me wonder who else is being treated in this form there. I have been in management long enough to know what's right from wrong and it clearly states in The U.S equal employment opportunity commission (EEOC) specifically states it is illegal to ask an applicant for employment about their citizenship status. I was extremely disappointed in the way that this situation was handled by your store director and assistant. I would like to speak to a supervisor who can help resolve this issue. It's not the concept that matters, it's the principle, as a working salary manager I know my rights and would not treat one like that in any way shape or form this is absolutely embarrassing especially knowing the director named Marco Rodriguez could be disrespectful in this manner. I love this place! 1) low prices on fruits and vegetables! I love juicing when I can... And they carry kale, beets, carrots and then some, everything I need for juicing. 2) amazing pan dulce/bakery. And believe me when I say they have thee best pan dulce/concha (the white shell, sweet bread) thee BEST. It's soft like a donut, NEVER dry or dried out, overly crumbly. Pair with a cup of the cafe De olla coffee from the Nescafé machine! Amaaaazingggggg 3) freshly made tortilla chips, tortillas (flour and corn) right on premises. I was there last night and looks like they put up a wall now of fresh flowers, instead of the tortilleria view when you walk in. Went shopping here last night 7/16/22, I'm going to keep this short and simple. Check the package date and sell by date on all package meats. I bought a roll of Farmer John pork sausage shame on me for not checking the date. When I got home it had a sell by date of July 5th here it is July 16th. I took it back and the manager was nice enough to exchange it for me. So we go to the meat department and guess what ? all of the FJ had the sell by July 5th date. So I told the manager I just pay extra and get the Jimmy Dean sausage, guess what? It had a sell by date of July 12th. The manger was surprised and said all of these products should have been removed and normally they rotate their products. Word to the wise check the date package and sell by date. The prices are decent but make sure you double check your produce as a lot of is not the freshest. Other than that, you can find some appetizing items in their bakery. My two stars is due to their horrible customer service and hostile environment. I've been in here multiple times and almost every single time someone is yelling, fighting, etc. Today I had quite the experience as I was repeatedly harassed by a customer in line. This customer was extremely impatient due to my transaction holding up the line as a result of a system and employee error. The cashier witnessed this and didn't say or do anything to address this customer's absolutely despicable behavior. I've never been talked to so horribly by a complete stranger in my life. One of my favorite Mexican markets in the area! Their bakery inside makes fresh bread and bomb tres leches cake all at a fair price. On top of that, they also have fresh meats, fish and even cheese! There is cereal, sandwich bread, rice, veggies and fruits as well. My latest visit consisted of me searching for walnuts and shredded coconut to make a lent dessert called capirotada. I loved the fact that they have self serve dispensers for those things as well as trail mix. I also found the piloncillo (sugar cane cubes) near by and later that night proceeded to make my 'master piece' haha. The market is huge and sort of organized. You can find a few aisles with cleaning supplies as well but some of the items are a bit over priced compared to other markets. I come here strictly for the fresh fruits, veggies, and baked goodies. Everything is clean, the aisles are big and the workers are pretty helpful as well as friendly. As most markets, the lines can tend to be a bit long but they move pretty fast. On your way out there is someone most of the time near the exit selling churros and aguas frescas (horchata, fruit water drinks). The parking lot is a mess though. So crowded and in some places pretty dark so be aware of your surroundings when walking out at night. I shop here because it's close to my home and convient. This morning I go in to get some things. As usual the clerk and everyone is very friendly. I pay for everything, bag it and begin to walk out. I'm stopped at the door by a security guard who ask to see my receipt? I complied thinking it was a new policy but as I'm putting my things in my car, I see the security guard allow Four different customers to exit the store without checking receipts. I go inside to ask and or complain and am told, " Don't take it personal she's just doing her job??" Really Superior these are the types of people you want working for you?? Granted, there are not a lot of great choices in Covina, but opting to shop here on purpose when you are able go somewhere else is beyond me. OK, I have not the pleasure of buying anything at the bakery, mind you, and I see from other Yelpers it's a highlight. I read the circular each Tuesday, and although the prices are OK, they are NOT that much less than a sale at Vons or F&E. If you are buying in bulk, I guess its ok. But I can't get past the past-the-prime produce, complete with flies... The horribly rude cashiers and no bagging service... The weird layout, which seems designed to deter escape (I'd hate to be in there when the Big One hits) Once you get inside, it's hard to get out. It's scary. NOT worth it for me, sorry. For cheap cilantro, mexican goodies, and fresh produce, I head to Baja Ranch, which is head and shoulders above in the atmosphere department. Be prepared for lots of people, and a bit of chaos. But also be prepared for soem really good prices on fruit and freshly baked breads. They bake bolillos fresh, and they'll dump them in the bin fresh and still hot. You've gotta be ready to grab some as many hands will be diving in trying to fill their bags. The fruit has great prices, but it's sorta like the fruit lottery. They're not big named fruits you'll see at other grocery stores. But don't worry, the fruit is tasty and more often then not perfectly ripe (their fruits tend to be ripe or a bit overly ripe so choose wisely). When you walk in you'll be greeted by a wave of freshly baked pan dulce. It looks amazing, however I've never had it as I don't particularly care for pan dulce. They also have freshly made tortillas. Their prices on beer are decent, however, don't prepare yourself for a large selection of wine. If you're lucky you'll find someone at a table as you walk out selling churros and agua frescas for some change. read more

The only meat I buy here is the chicken. I do buy fish, imitation crab and fish here too. I come here for veggies, fruit, chips, beer, water, sodas, snacks, sweet bread, etc. Sometimes I use the coin star too or fill up my water jug outside from the machine. The staff here always greet us. I like that they always have specials. This store is the main place where we shop. They have check cashing here. You can buy your postal stamps here. The rotisserie chickens are expensive and small. The tamales are pretty good. They also always have sales on paper towels, paper plates, toilet paper, etc. This place can get crowded on special days but they usually take care of it. read more
