My favorite grocery store in the area the prices our the best the staff are very friendly lines never long unless its holiday

Maybe the most consistently SLOW grocery store in the Valley. During the most busy hours (4-6pm) only 3 out of six registers are ever open. Its one thing if someone called in sick, thats not it. This issues happens every single day. Management is cluelsss how to staff its store. And no one is ever at the customer service counter. So when someone needs that service, a checker has to leave their register for 10-20 min. I hate that i have to shop here and i hate that they cannot get straightened out. Been like this for over 5 years. Manager is Jesus, assistant manager Claude. They should be let go. The other staff always are apologizing for the lines. They know the problem. read more

I would honestly give this place 5 stars but for the fact that EVERY TIME I COME TO THIS BRANCH, ONLY 1 OR 2 CASH REGISTER LINES ARE OPEN. For instance, its 8:40 pm, and there's only 2 lines open and I've been standing in line for 20 mins and still it's not my turn. This is ridiculous. Vons, you've got a billion dollar industry. Hire more people and have more cash registers manned to assist customers so as to allow them not have to wait a minimum of 25 mins to be assisted. Thanks. read more

Worst pharmacy ever! The Armenian lady working there checked to see if they had what I needed and they did not. Instead of offering to order it for me, she told me that I could check with CVS or Walgreens pharmacy! Last month when I went into pick up my prescription, I had called it in two days prior. I stood in line, with one person in front of me for a few minutes and the same lady told me that I would have to come back in 30 minutes. They had 5 people working behind the counter and not one person offered to help me or ask if I had a prescription to pick up. She just told me to come back or go sit in the other room for 30 minutes. So rude. Now they've lost my business!! I've transferred to another pharmacy. read more

The staff is always friendly. But I've literally never been to a store with lines as long as this. Tonight there were three lines, all of them blocking the main walkway and into the isles. Every single line. If they just opened up a single register it would help but they've got at least 3 other open ones. The lines there are never even close to this long in any other store. And here it's no matter what time you come in. Hire more people if you need too. This seems like a fire hazard! read more

The pharmacy inside the store was on its game for quite some time! And now it's a hit and miss! You have people waiting and the tech attending to the people! I realize you need the pharmacist filling out the prescriptions but the sooner you get the line smaller than go back to the tech handling the customers! What is so difficult with that! I have shopped at this store approx 15 years because I love it and the staff. Or used to, anyway. I was in there last evening to use some WIC vouchers for my daughter who just had a baby. As I was paying, a man behind me became agitated that it was taking too long. He starting shouting at me loudly, saying I was "inconsiderate". He screamed at me for several minutes. While this was going on, noone intervened to help me-not the cashier, not the store manager, NOONE. Not the elderly security guard either. Finally the cashier, Julie, directed him to another line. At one point a stockboy was sent to exchange a WIC item and this took several minutes. As I was leaving, this man came up to the checkstand and AGAIN started to scream at me, and told me "fuck you". A no time did the manager or cashier tell him to stop or to leave. He finally did leave and I went by the Starbucks, where I encountered the elderly security guard, who claimed to have seen and heard nothing. I should add that I was in an electric cart, as I have lung disease and heart failure. I am appalled and shocked by this treatment in a store I used to love. I have a great friendly personality and come here to visit friends and have a good rapport with the staff. This store is UNSAFE now, especially for the disabled like me. How terrible. Appalled and shocked. No help or aid from anyone in that store. For shame Vons. Do better Vons, for your CUSTOMERS. Do much better. read more

This to all first time users of the delivery services in my area it is nice that you can have groceries brought to your front door especially where I live it's all stairs ,but be careful on what have scheduled for delivery time and produce the services says from 5pm to 9pm I thought I would get my groceries around 5 to 7 pm wrong!! I received a message around 8:59 pm saying there on there way. they could have sent me a message before where they are at on there delivery time since I place my order me in earlier morning nope received just before delivery I just about ready to go to bed when I received the message I thought they somehow forgot and I would take care of it in the morning now all my groceries are here and I have start putting it all away it took about 30 to 40 minutes to do that since I am on a walker just came out of the hospital so I needed groceries and I cannot drive. Now I want to try my produce the peaches where dry and pithy I eventually threw them out in three days I order bananas had to eat them right away they getting to soft the fruits could have more on the green side would have lasted longer everything else I ordered was okay. So to anyone getting delivery watch the delivery time getting your groceries that late is no good especially when your tired and on a walker I could have done a better job picking my fruit only giving them 2 stars I might try again ?? I just moved to the area and was excited vons was down the street and i dont have to drive too far for groceries but i was wrong i went here and noticed that customer service is horrible, hire more people to help your customers. For 1 item or 100 items u have to wait in a long line. This place is a waste of time. To make things even worse they barely ever have someone on the floor to help you find what your looking for in order to find someone you have to walk all around the store and by that time youre better off finding what you need yourself. Now i drive miles away from home to go to smart & final, ralphs or a different Vons to save myself the headache. read more

This is the first time I have posted on yelp. But the service I received was so horrible I had to comment on it. I go to the deli counter where there are three employees working behind the counter. None of them are helping customers however I still have to wait seven minutes before I am helped. I then go to the checkout line and the cashier doesn't even look at me or talk to me other than to tell me how much money I am supposed to give her. She is too busy chatting with the person in line behind me. However the bagger was extremely well mannered nice teenager. The worst service at the deli counter. We went last week to buy a sandwich. You know have them make us a sandwich like their american sub thingy that they usually have pre-made, but we don't like mustard so we wanted to make it without it. It was terrible we stood there for 5 minutes, the ladies behind the counter weren't doing anything they looked right at us totally ignored us. One lady who had just come over to the counter asked the other ladies if we had been helped and my dad was like no were invisible they cant see us. Its a wonderful Establishment, but the problem i have is with an employee who calls herself the manager she is rude to customers and her staff. Maria is degrading to her employees, very spiteful and manipulative. Several times i have attempted to say something as a customer because this is not proper work ethic and quite frankly disrespectful. Due to my concern she is very snarky towards me as a customer and i feel that this is wrong. I come in here almost every other day after my long work shifts dealing with patients and have to deal with her terrible attitude. The cashier said nothing and when I asked if I could get a new one she said" yeah I mean they just cleaned that but ok. Worst Vons experience. My friend and I walked in here to buy a cake, and some balloons for our friends birthday. What we thought was going to be a quick and easy in an out trip, became an HOUR adventure. We walk in and go straight to the bakery area where the cakes are and we pick our cake. We would like to have someone write happy birthday on it, so here we are standing behind the counter for over 20 minutes, just yelling "Excuse Me?!" with no answer and no humanity in sight. One woman was cutting something behind the counter and she completely ignored us as we were trying to ask her for help. Rude. We walk all the way across the store to customer service and ask a worker if there is anyone that can write this message for our cake and they reply, "The cake decorators are only available during the morning, and everyone else is on their lunch break". Um excuse me? What if someone wants to buy a cake in the middle of the afternoon, who buys a cake early in the morning?! Weird. Anyway, one worker who wasn't even a clerk or a cashier, was complaining to us that he was bit by a dog in the store and told us that he is not a cake decorator professional but could try to write the message. He said he didn't trust himself and asked us if one of us wanted to do it. After practicing on a napkin for 20 minutes, he remembered that the cake decorators had pre-written happy birthday messages that could be inserted into/onto the cake. - After all this cake hassle.. we stepped over to the balloon area and no one was behind the counter. UNDERSTAFFED!!! - Again another 20 minutes to find someone to get us 3 balloons. The worker walks in lazy, and on his phone. Whatever, we finally get all of the things we needed, and our trip for a cake and 3 balloons turned into a disaster. read more

This is the worst Vons that I've ever been too. I went in one night to buy a pack of vitamin supplements and ended up waiting 15 minutes in one line just to end up having to go to the only other line open, ( At night-time there's only 2 checkstands open and all self-checkouts are closed) and the rest of the employees that are there aren't doing anything but sitting and talking to the cashier/clerk, distracting them causing them to take even longer than they already are instead of trying to help, and overall every time I go in there they seem to always give me reasons to not come back as well as some of the workers giving me looks like I am stealing. We have a Von's about a mile from us on Foothill. The staff is great. I like that they have done the "lifestyle" remodeling that Steve Burd is famous for doing in response to the popular stores like Whole Foods. My reason for reviewing Von's today is that the organic section, which used to be a few apples, plums, strawberries, carrots, etc, is now much bigger. They actually had the organic beets I wanted for a juicing project with beets, carrots and apples. Not only red beets but orange beets! Sadly they seem to highlight the Chobani yogurt which Chobani even says on their Facebook page: "We do not add GMO to our product, but we are unable to ensure that the grain fed to the cows producing the milk is non-GMO." Congratulations on a bigger organic presence and allowing me to remain in Tujunga for I love the organic section at Ralph's and will continue to use them but now in case I need to go to Von's it will be a pleasure to know it is there. read more

Well it looks like my relationship with this Von's. Is now back to what it was a few months ago. I will only shop there for items I can't find at Ralph's. You could of had me as a full time customer, but your service today fucked that up entirely. How can you fuck customer's over so much, that they don't even know if they don't look at their receipt or very carefully watch as the items are ringing up. Here is where it all went wrong , I went to the deli in the store and asked for a pound of Dietz and Watson's Maple honey ham. I received it and saw the price as $10.83, not the $6.99 per pound as stated in the deli case. I know that it will ring up with your club card at the correct price, because I have purchased this before. Also she told the girl who got the same item as myself that it will ring up at the correct price at the register. Well it would if it was tagged as maple honey ham and not turkey. Look we all make mistakes at are jobs and the lady apologized for her mistake, but what REALLY REALLY FUCKING PISSES ME OFF TO NO END IS THE ABSOLUTELY FUCKING SHITTY FUCKING SERVICE I GET WHEN THEY TAKE ME BACK TO THE REGISTER TO RING IT UP AT THE CORRECT PRICE. okay so I know people are waiting in line just like I did a few minutes earlier and there always seems to be a problem in line with a customer trying to purchase something. Just like I experienced when I had to stand in line again to get my refund. At this point after waiting for the customer to figure out how she is going to pay, it turns out she has no money to pay on her ebt card. I have absolutely no fucking patience at this point after walking from the far end of the parking lot , so my car won't be all door dinged from stupid fucking people that have no respect for their car or other people's cars. You treat your customer's like shit and you get shitty reviews. I know nowadays that everyone is cutting corners to save money, but use the customer's service desk to refund a customer. Don't make me wait in line for your fuck up. I have been in this Vons a whole lot and never once have I seen a manager or employee at the customer service desk. Don't inconvenience me or other customer's waiting in line trying to check out. So for this you lost me as a full time customer, for your deceitful ways of pricing items. I wonder if the girl who bought the same deli meat as myself was overcharged as well. And oh yeah I caught you in the deli trying to do a bait and switch on me when I tried to purchase Dietz and Watson's baby Swiss cheese. You couldn't find it already open to slice in the deli case , so you took the advice from your Asian older lady coworker to give me Primo Taglio baby Swiss. Even though the primo Taglio was cheaper per pound by a few dollars, money has nothing to do with it. I Caught you about to slice the Primo taglio Cheese when I said I wanted the Dietz and Watson's baby Swiss. Why not just open the brand new package that is on display instead of taking your co worker's advice. When you go to buy a tv you don't buy a Magnovox, when what you really want is a Sony!!! Same here with premium deli meats and cheeses, so in the future , don't listen to your coworker listen to what the customer wants. So for this simple trip for a few items, you totally fucked up my shopping experience. Thank you Vons and your crappy customer service. You can go FUCK YOURSELF AND YOUR FUCKING CRAPPY ASS STORE AND YOUR DUMB ASS EMPLOYEES. Their checkers like Loretta or Maria or also Brandi W. at the deli are super friendly and super cool, I shop here just about every day and Dakota W. is always on top of his game moving those fingers faster than i can keep track punching away at the keyboard and bagging my things at the same time. I asked a special favor of him and Claude D. and they didn't just brush me off or feed me some BS they actually are working on making room in the cooler for the champagne that I buy daily, awesome ! Some of the cashiers here are not very friendly. There is this one lady who ALWAYS looks like she's in a bad mood. Looks like she hates being there. I avoid her when I can. And the lines here are terrible. Never more than 2 or 3 cashiers open. And there's always a guy who works in the meats department who is always trying to flirt with me and just makes me feel uncomfortable. Just wish they had better customer service. read more

Its great...produce is always good quality, people are really nice, except the occassional teen they have bagging. But all in all its the place to be. Moslty because theres a firestation right next door and on those special days some hotties come strolling in buying donuts or some crap... This is a big Vons with everything you need! It is well stocked and they have great weekly deals. Sometimes though, I've noticed some items on the shelves are expired. I have be burned several times by this after I've come home and looked at the boxes. So I'm trying to be careful looking at all the expiration dates when I'm shopping here. The lack of competency in their pharmaceutical dept. not only pisses me off but makes me worry about the medicine I just took. They also could of saved me a trip when I called asking if I would be able to get a refund if I go down their with my new med insurance info, could of said "what type of card got sent, oh since it's the paper one you might want to wait.." But instead No, completely wasted my time gas and patience. Also got given a hard time and then when looking for my coverage the Albertsons partner working with them says "uhh why not look it up by social.." Then instead of having the person who has the mental aptitude to properly use a computer they have the person with the least technological experience using it. While snaggletooth (the lady with glasses and IQ less then 30) gives me shit when they don't even know how to properly use their system. Could of saved me a lot of time and bs by just saying "Sorry we are absolutely incompetent.. You might want to go somewhere else for your pharmaceutical needs." Sadly I have to give a star rating rather then just give a huge middle finger.. The only one who seemed to know anything is "Matthew" but he could of just stepped in instead, and not have to deal with the stupidity of the other workers, matthew I give 3.75 stars. Guy with the huge glasses training these "pharmacy technicians" I give the same for effort. The rest.. Were a complete disappointment and made me lose all faith in returning to this establishment for anything past a box of cheerios.. Also forgot to add, and maybe it just wasn't observed yet to be cleaned (I hope.) but the men's bathroom had fecal residue smeared on the wall... The deli employees are also worked to the point where they appear miserable on a regular basis and the fact that they put damaged goods on the shelf rather then returning as damaged is appalling... I waited at the meat counter for a good 10 minutes and was making direct eye contact with the employee working there and he refused to even ask me what I needed let alone acknowledge I was standing right in front of him. He continued to ignore me and let 2 other people form a line and he still refused to look up at as and help us. A man that worked in Loss Prevention had to come over and help us and THEN the employee who worked at the counter decided come over to help us when someone else came to do his job FOR him...as the guy from LP helped me, his coworker told him to STOP helping us and basically refused to have someone help him with 3 customers that were waiting for 10+ minutes. I've ever come in contact with someone so rude and ignorant before. Never buying anything from the meat counter if he's working there!!! read more

This supermarket is run down with the homeless taking over. One should be careful at night. Dirty entrance, limited inventory, not good for anything other than milk and cereal. The new Haggen supermarket is clean and they carry everything in stock. Also, can't wait for the soon to be remodeled Ralphs in Sunland. read more
