Everything was fine until I scanned the toothpaste which was on sale but didn't ring up on sale. So I was looking around for someone to help me. There he was Hector I. He was so kind,caring, sweet and super down to earth, highly knowledgeable and he was extremely helpful! I really did appreciate his help so much !! He helped me greatly! The process was a breeze! It's big, bright, clean, and well‑stocked, with great produce, meat and fish, sushi, sandwiches, a deli counter, and plenty more. The staff has always been friendly and helpful, and one thing I really appreciate is how attentive the deli team is -- no standing there being ignored, which is a pet peeve of mine elsewhere. My only real complaint is the pricing. I know groceries are expensive everywhere, but I still find myself walking the aisles thinking, "Are these people crazy?" Some items, like $2.99 for a gallon of water, feel way out of line. On the plus side, checkout lines move quickly, and there's usually someone available to bag your groceries. Happy Mother's Day to all lovely moms everywhere! One of my rituals with my mom growing up was to accompany her grocery shopping at Vons every week. She had this giant blue filing box for her coupons, which I helped her to clip, file, and purge (expireds). She'd plop the box (and her calculator) in the seat of the cart and, at the end of shopping, I'd stand by while she quickly went through it, pulled out the ones we were using, and placed in my hand. My dad gave her a set amount of money to purchase for the week, and he told her anything she saved with coupons she could keep. No wonder she was so efficient! I go to this Vons nearly every day now. It's a good activity for my disabled son (who also helps, to the extent he can). I often think of how floored my mom would be by the Vons app, replete with coupons, deals, saved lists, and sorting by aisle! The employees (who surely know us by now) are always friendly and helpful and the store (and app) has everything we need. When we were there yesterday, the front flower shop was overflowing, of course, because of the holiday. It prompted me to look for my mom's favorite flowers: white carnations. I was surprised to discover I couldn't find any carnations. I asked the few (young) gals who were working there if they had any, and they said sorry, but they didn't. I told them it was the very first flower associated with Mother's day, and they could Google it. (Interestingly, the founder tried to get the day discontinued because of how commercial it had become.) After shopping and as we were loading our groceries on the belt, one of the gals came up hurriedly with bunch of mini white carnations and said, "I found some!" I was so thankful I almost cried. This store is always sparkling clean! The best produce department I've seen as far as presentation. The shelves are well organized but I sometimes have a hard time finding certain items that aren't where I expected them to be. Ask staff, they are helpful to find what you need. So to be totally honest, I usually do not shop at Vons, but I happened to come to this location a few times during the whole Covid-19 Pandemic and I was pleasantly pleased with the service, selection and variety of products that I haven't come across even at my regular go-to grocery market. I had heard that this particular location as well as their sister location on Avenida De Los Arboles a few miles away were very well stocked specifically at the beginning of the Covid Outbreak when everyone was stockpiling on groceries. I decided to come check out this Vons and was quite pleased by how well their shelves were stocked and constantly re-stocked over the coming weeks of my initial visit. What I appreciated about this location specifically during the height of the Pandemic was how they not only took care of their customers, but also ensuring the safety of their associates. Doing what they could to ensure grocery carts were wiped down, conveyer belts were cleaned in between customers and outlining a clear guidance of the Pandemic guidelines throughout the store on where to stand when checking out and which way to go down each aisle really set a very high standard that even my own regular grocery market just down the street wasn't abiding to at least not initially. Here are some of the highlights of what makes this grocery store location above par: -Well stocked Produce Department that's Organized and Efficient. -Amazing in-store bakery where custom cakes, cupcakes and fresh baked breads are made daily. -In store Pharmacy, U.S. Bank and Starbucks. The actual grocery store is good. However, their bakery department nearly ruined my birthday party. I have gotten the same cake from Vons every year, but this year, they discontinued the Halloween cake I always get. My mom went in 3 days before my party to place the order, and they had to make some adjustments which was fine, and we had a pick-up time of 10 am. Ten minutes before we could pick up the cake, they called my mom, stating that they could not complete the order as it was "too complicated." After arguing with the bakery staff about the short notice, we placed the order at the Vons in Simi off Erringer, where they said it was absolutely no problem and would take a couple of hours. Great customer service at this location! The store is clean. The cashiers are friendly and so was the young man I spoke with in customer service. Even though this store is a few minutes farther than the Vons located at Avenida de los Arboles, I have started just coming to this Vons. Oh how far you've come! Back in 2020 the service was terrible and I made sure to let you know about. But since then, BOTH the experience with pick up as well as going into the store were top notch. I've had several drive up experience over the last few months and I have to say that your store easily exceeds the experience at both the Agoura Road Vons (they are far slower to deliver and give a vibe as if they are expecting a tip on multiple occasions) and the Las Virgines Vons where it's just okay but nowhere near as responsive as your store. Also, shout out to Loren the cashier. I was impressed with his meticulous approach to organizing how the bagging process works for the person with quite a few groceries in front of me. I have been here a few times. I have yet to ever be able to go in here and find someone to help me. I have not found produce to be in good shape. I have noticed slit, cut open packages of meat in the deli. I have noticed a ton of not so great things. The one thing that I did notice amongst all the employees was that they all looked miserable. Hmm. I guess that says a lot about how they feel for their store. I asked if the carts had been cleaned, wiped down at all or sanitized. The store employee asked me why and told me that it didn't matter. That didn't make me feel comfortable at all. Another thing that turned me off was the fact that there were deli workers who weren't wearing their masks properly. One of them even pulled their mask away from their face to cough a lil and clear their throat. Umm, NOPE! I don't NEED to come to this location and if possible I will try to forget that I've ever been here. I left feeling so uneasy and disgusted. I hope the store gets re-vamped and maybe the rapport rebuilt and restored. This is a decent store for me. I do not come here often, but I drop by if I am in the area. The store appears well-maintained and well stocked every time I have visited. They provide the typical items you would find at any other Vons. However, as others have commented, there are usually long lines due to a lack of cashiers/baggers. I really wish they had self-express checkout. It would be best to come here early in the morning or late at night especially on weekends to avoid the crowds. Customer service is so-so for me. I have yet to try out the Starbucks here. The parking lot is huge, and I never have any issues finding a spot no matter when I come here. I have been wanting to review this particular store for a long, long time. I have had the pleasure of observing Doug (store manager) lead his team by his own example for many years. Doug is probably the finest front of the house Manager i have ever seen in action, and not just grocery store related businesses, i mean an example of the best management practices i have ever seen period!. He treats his employees and customers with equal respect, he listens, and always uses good, sound, fair judgement always giving the benefit of doubt to the customer in every instance. that doesn't mean he is giving away the farm, he is simply applying the golden rule when he is in a situation, and has a choice. I must say in comparison to many Vons on the westside that this one is far more cleaner, larger, and modernly designed unlike the other outdated Vons, I would have honestly thought this was their high end grocery Pavilions store based just on image. Over the years, they have upgraded this building so its pretty to shop in and there are more variety of things to buy. I also like how it is organized. This location has a Starbucks and a US Bank store inside the building. PARKING This building is located inside a plaza that has plenty of parking spaces and well lit at night. CUSTOMER SERVICE - 3/5 Stars Since I've been coming here for so long, there's people I like so I know who to ask for help and there's people I avoid because they give bad customer service. Check pricing and your receipt carefully. It seems every visit there is something charged incorrectly. That is why I check the receipt every time before leaving the store. I get up there and she goes totally off on me because I didn't tell her I put In for extra money on my atm card. She was so rude! Apparently she might not have enough money in the drawer. This is a typical mid-sized/large Vons. The floors are clean, the isles are kept neat and tidy and the selection of products is good. I often stop in here for their soups or deli sandwiches made fresh for you. They have good produce and bakery items as well. When I came here earlier in the week it was to buy a dog/cat food bowl which I couldn't find at my other (smaller) Vons. All it needed to say was Happy Birthday Kim and it turned out AWFUL. The writing is barely legible and smeared. For such a simple cake it shouldn't have been that hard to make it look clean. I really like this location, very convenient and friendly staff members. I tend to go here regularly and many times the staff will greet me when they see me. I was shocked to see the man in the deli not wearing his mask over his nose and loosely over his mouth. Von's has a sign upon entering that states "Wear your Mask while in the store". I was going to mention it to the manager, but no manager was around and they even had the produce man as a cashier. So went back because this is the closest store and they are competitively priced, but the staff is somehow getting worse. the deli counter is ALWAYS short staffed and while 1 or 2 of them are ok, there are 4 or 5 regulars that work there that are TERRIBLE. they take FOREVER to do anything. it's incredibly frustrating. the checkout lines are also still horrible. just stfu and check my stuff, stop talking to every customer. god those idiots are slow. I am surprised at how rude all of the cashiers are. Invariably each time I have the privilege of going through the red heads line she doesn't say anything, nor ask how my day was. Also, most recently I handed her my von S card and she says "and.." During the save visit some of the produce was mislabeled so she made me walk back and get the correct item. Not only that I had to wait in line again. I had such a bad visit I called on the way home. The lady that answered didn't want to transfer me to the manager so I insisted that I would hold. I shop this Vons more often than any other grocery store in TO. Not just by being a creature of habit, but also because it's clean, organized and the staff is friendly and outgoing.
