Worst Von's ever. Always out of everything you need, the things you want are expired and a weak selection. Better to make the drive to Clairemont. read more

This vons is great and like all the employees and cashiers! But last night I bought a bag bagels! Then I went home and then I realized I bought the wrong kind of bagels which we're cinnamon raisin bagels! I'm allergic to raisin so I went back to store and tried to return the bagels and the lady said there's no return especially in covid! But I told her I understand but you see the thing is coming that I'm allergic to raisins so that's why I came back to return them! She then starts giving me attitude! This lady I had to deal with you guys all may know who she's. She's some Latino lady who's short, brown hair, and has a temper and a big attitude and isn't friendly at all. Whenever ur come to Vons and shop here she'd always give me attitude and would tease me when I had questions! So for the bagels I told that lady hey can I speak with your manager because what she's telling me is a joke! I speak to the manager and he tells me ya no problem you can definitely return items and I explained the story to him and he totally understood my point and told his crew and the lady who took my order that there are returns! The manager is a tall guy who wears blue and some jeans and has long hair and a mustache! So I'm saying that whenever u shop at this location try to avoid that lady because she is a pain in the ass and she doesn't help at all and can be a dick to everyone!! read more

Am moving into the area next week but needed to get quick items for dinner today everything was ok until we got into the express lane I encountered a very rude cashier by the name of Nicole when I swiped my Vons club card I proceed to give her 2 forms of payment when I took out cash to give her she "sighed" loudly like Nicole didn't want to be there or I was taking too long I didn't want to make a scene but the customer service sucks big time there! Nicole had the same attiude with my aunt who purchased items also... read more

Poorly managed. I used to be a fan of this smaller neighborhood grocery store. But over the last year it has gone down hill. My family is in there every couple of days and now we dread it. The lines to check out snake back into the isles. It's a joke standing there as other people try and squeeze through with their carts. Especially those stupid ones with the plastic car on the front for little kids....... This store is just to small for those. The worst part is seeing staff stand around when there are literally 10+ people in the only 2 lines open. I'm trying to give them money and they act like they are doing me a favor!!! And as long as I'm being honest, the deli sucks too!!!! read more

It's a very small grocery store, and my grocery needs are simple. But this store has perhaps the rudest employees on the face of the earth. Based solely on the rude treatment I have received here, I will limit my shopping at other Vons locations, and I will never purchase another item from this one. read more

The Deli is disgusting, Rose who I dealt with was as rude as can be. They are going to get someone sick, I'm sure they already have. The manager could careless about any of it. He literally wouldn't even take 2 seconds to listen to me. As bad as it gets. I go to Safeway, where I'm from weekly (which is the same as Von's). The Deli always has a line and is very busy. It is no wonder this deli has no business. I've never had a complaint before this. Stay away is my advice read more

So my husband just witnessed 3 males rob the store, filling huge backpacks with high priced liquor. He immediately told the (older toothless) manager, with the security guard STANDING RIGHT NEXT TO HIM, and the manager said, "oh, OK". Then DID NOTHING!!! Wonder why prices keep rising?!? We are done shopping here. read more

Can't wait until they have self-checkouts here...Cashiers are slow and don't seem to care about making you wait to check out a few items. The last time I was there the cashier disappeared without telling anyone in the line what they were going for a while and then when complaint was told to the manager he didn't take it seriously. I try to avoid this Vons even though it's the most convenient locat read more

pros...this von's is like a throw back, old fashioned neighborhood grocery store. went here early in the morning with my wife, and we were pleasantly surprised with the super friendly service. all the workers really must be 'morning people', cause they are just super friendly. we were greeted by all the workers, who were genuinely happy to see us. the sandwiches are made fresh if you come in for lunch. in fact the bread was still warm and you could tell that it was made with care. not just sloppily slapped together. and the counter girl was super cheerful as well. cons...in need of a face lift, a bit dark in some places but all in all a nice von's to go to if you are in the area! read more

Definitely my last Vons option I'd like to visit, they don't have self out check lanes and usually only have one or two people working the register. Imagine a busy Friday night at 5pm, it's the worst. They're the smallest Vons store I can think of that I've visited and the beer selection here is terrible. Go to the one down the street on Regents/Arriba and youll find what a Vons store really should be. read more

I'm giving this Vons a one star just because of its location near my house. That is the only reason this disgraceful Vons gets a star. This grocery store never has anything in stock and the worst part is what they do have in stock is rotten! They always have rotten moldy fruits and veggies. DISGUSTING! You would think that being a Vons (a reputable store) that they would care about what they sell to their customers but I guess they just don't give a damn. I guess I just have to make the drive to get to a better grocery store. :( read more

It's your average vons. If you live close and just need the basics this is a good option. The only complaint I have is everytime I go they don't have shredded lettuce on the shelf. read more

Pharmacy had horrible, rude, disgusting service. Closer to my house than CVS but I'd rather drive the extra bit. Worst service and most unpleasant people I've encountered in a long time. read more

I shop daily for my business. I like this Vons because parking is a breeze. No long hike to get in and out of the store. It's a smaller store so I can shop pretty fast. The selection on some of the most basic cooking items is sad. I have requested items several times and although the manager said they would order them they still don't carry them. The fresh seafood and meat counter doesn't open until after 10am ish- if your looking to buy anything else but the basics (and even then it's hit or miss) then this Vons wouldn't do. read more

Guess I started shopping here after the renovation. Don't forget your Von's club card, because it will cost you a lot extra. Usually have what I am looking for. Coupon items seem to be sold out most of the time. Staff is upbeat and helpful. Confusing advertisements, things on sale for differing days instead of all week. Large inventory for a little store, though. Fresh deli items confusing. read more

Meh, is probably the best word to summarize my experience at this vons. Nothing was ever terrible, but I've been to better stores. Check out Henry's for quality service. If you can't spare the extra nickel, go to Ralph's off of nobel. read more

Good store, they just need to get more organic items in stock. Prices are ok, staff is ok (they hire local high school students). The manager David B. is awesome though, he really cares about the store and customers =) read more

I'm not quite at Ghetto yet here but it's a close call. There is a lot of room for improvement that's for sure. They run out of milk and eggs too often for a major grocery company and the sandwich shop needs a huge upgrade of both quality speed and service. We'll keep an eye on you since I end up in your store once a week or so. read more

I avoid this Vons if I can. Never enough checkers. Needs a self serve check out. I ran in the other night while my husband was at the nearby Urgent Care. Only 2 lines open and each line had about 15 customers waiting. Took over 20 minutes and I only had a couple items. Staff is very nice, but they are understaffed. I've lived in the area for nearly 30 years. The store has definitely taken a turn for the worse. read more

OMG don't go here unless you have an hour to burn waiting in the only line they ever have opened. I avoid this store typically unless I'm at work and have to stop for something. It's been this way forever read more

The cashier yelled at me and gave me attitude because my vons card wouldn't go through and the way he treated me, he obviously did not want to deal with it. The customer behind me even looked shocked. I will not be returning here. Vons claims to be all about customer service then these people should be fired because when I was next in line I didn't treat him in any bad way. Who wants to deal with that? way to try to ruin someones day. read more

LETICIA the cashier! This is the closest grocery store to the the place I live so I go there very often. I am very sad to admit that the cashiers there are not the best: very unpleasant and rude! (not all of them!) Every time I go there I experience the worst customer service with one particular cashier by name Leticia! (short woman with shoulder length brown hair) Please make sure you don't stand in her line!!! The last time I was at the store she rudely underlined not to stand in her line next time if I have more than 15 items! The store was busy and I ended up in that line without even realizing it (usually I check for those signs!) I apologized but she seemed not giving a damn about it! I wish you could see the way she was bagging my groceries. She was literally throwing goods inside the bags. Most of the goods got smashed and damaged! She did not give any monopoly tickets and after I asked for those she said: "No tickets! no tickets!" and pointed me to the door without looking at me. Her hand gesture was so rude as if I annoyed her. I don't write reviews (never) but Leticia "deserves" one's attention! She never smiles. She really acts as if she's making you a HUGE favor by checking you out. She acts as if I showed up at her own place without invitation not at check out point! I wish her manager could've explain to her that this is HER JOB and she is there to provide good customer service. People like her spoil stores reputation. The rest work hard helping people; in fact I know other employees who's just great! She ruins every single visit of mine to that store. NOTE TO THE MANAGER: Please make sure you talk to your employee and explain her that people can not be treated it such a way! You cannot treat people bad! Especially without any reason. If you won't take care of it now later you will get more complains! read more

I live close by. I come here 3-4 times a week. I can find everything easily without hiking five miles up an endless number of rows. Produce is my favorite area. Love the specials on fruits. Also on crab sometime. I have gotten to know most of the checkers. They are always pleasant and helpful. Everyone here responds positively to a kind work and a smile. How hard is that. In return, they will make you want to come back. read more

The worst experience with the cashier here. I normally spend about $150 weekly in this market. Well not anymore, in my most recent visit the cashier yelled at me for imputing my club card number wrong. Just because the touch pad rejected my number...It was embarrassing and unnecessary. He seriously lost it and told me to never touch the pad again until a cashier instructed me to. That I messed it up for him. Seriously, For the price I'm paying for groceries the last thing I expect is to be yelled at like a child. read more

This is the worst Vons I have ever shopped at, which is a bummer because I live in UC. Their excuse for everything is their size because they have a small store. That doesn't excuse awful service, long long lines and spoiled food. Ugh. read more

Terrible! They always have the longest lines. The 3's a crowd campaign is a joke. If there was anything else closer I'd go there.

I have shopped at this store for many years and tell you that over the past couple of months, it has gone from a 3 star to a 1 at best. Here are few things that have happened at my last couple visits: there was not one employee who acknowledged my airspace. The meat department person was working at such a fast pace it appeared he had a few large cups of double expresso with his running up and down the meat counter. At check out - There was a long wait and no mention of "sorry for the delay". The cashier did not say "anything" but a quick thanks (I think) handed me my receipt and didn't even count out my money back. The bag boy did not respond to my "thank you/have a nice evening". What has happened to this neighborhood store???? I can tell you I have heard the same complaints from others. I work in healthcare and if we treated our patients the way you treat your once loyal customers ..... We would be out of business!!!!!!! . read more

I have been coming to this store for about a year. The cashiers are the slowest I have ever encountered. They are under trained and usually rude. There are one or 2 that are ok. The produce is expensive (you can go down to Sprouts and get fresher, better quality for much less). The layout is also terrible. It is hard to get around and things are in very odd spots. The only reason I keep going there is that is the closest grocery store to me. I try to only purchase things like milk or bread when I have run out now. My family dread having to go in here. I have taken to driving to Ralphs in La Jolla when possible and all fresh produce or special items I go to Sprouts. If you do have to use this Von's I recommend giving yourself an extra 20mins for waiting in long lines and you might want to take a few deep relaxing breaths because chances are you are going to encounter a rude employee who has no idea how to answer your questions. ;) read more

The only reason I gave this store a one star is because I cannot give it a zero star in order to write this review. A word of advice to the management, when the lines are long right before the holidays, you might consider not closing the express line. read more

This Von's is a tourist trap rip off. Located right on the outskirts of La jolla you might be lured here to buy groceries if you are staying in town for a vacation. Don't bother, they are so overpriced, it is cheaper to eat at an expensive eatery, than trying to save some money by purchasing groceries. Drive an extra ten miles to Clairemont Mesa area where the prices are a little better and the service is very good. I was actually surprised when an employee actually came out from behind the counter to show me some food options. Of course, if money is not an issue, like for people who live in LaJolla, then this is not relevant. If you are visiting and have a family to feed look for other options. Final point, even if visiting get a Von's loyalty card so you can get additional discounts. read more

Not the best Vons, although I think it's a smaller store than some of the others in the area. Much better prices for food items I buy regularly at Target. read more

the current MANAGER SUCKS! he is rude and I have been wanting to call corporate to tell them how rude he is! everyone else there is pretty cool.. BUT THE MANAGER sucks!!! I hate seeing him there, he has a horrible vibe, he's soooo rude beyond rude!!! I wish they transferred that man. he needs costumer service training; he needs to learn how to greet his costumers, and how to be nice to his employees I have seen him be rude to both. A little smile wouldn't hurt. read more

Von's..., how the mighty have fallen. You've never been a great neighborhood market, but this Von's just sucks; the worst of the worst. You don't even deserve 1 star, that's as low as I can do here, but you deserve less. Why? Lousy customer consideration, even on your supposedly "sale" items exclusive to Fridays. Example: This morning I went to buy canned Albacore tuna and chicken. We (me and other customers) can't FIND them, they're mixed, and placed where most customers won't be likely to find and/or sort them from other items NOT on sale. Shady, but at first I'm thinking that maybe it's an accident?! Then I went to buy 2-for-1 Lay's potato chips. Guess what, the only one's on sale are placed SO high I can barely reach them (I'm 5' 11")!? Then I'm looking for the 2-for-1 Parmesan cheese..., and looking..., and looking. Finally! Bottom line: It's no accident. This is tired 1970's-era retailing run amok. L-o-u-s-y. When I point out to the clerk at check-out that some of us customers don't appreciate an Easter egg hunt every time we use the store (including trying to navigate around TOO MANY in-aisle point-of-sale promotional stands), he just shrugged and told me to call the telephone number on my receipt, because all decisions were from "corporate". Well, I have a message for the clerk, the store manager, and Von's "corporate" too; your store policies, stock lay-out, and customer consideration all *S-T-I-N-K*!!! I'll take my money elsewhere from now on, and I suggest my fellow Yelper's do the same. Buyer beware. Don't shop here unless you have a lot of extra time on your hands and eyes like an eagle. read more
