On October 10, 2017 at approximately 12:50 P.M. I went to Vons located at 1260 W. Redondo Beach Blvd. Gardena, Ca. 90247. The purpose of my trip was to get a few items for dinner. When I entered the store I saw that there were no shopping carts inside. I had to go back in the parking lot to get one, as did another lady who entered the store the same time I did. (There were several shopping carts in the parking lot and were still there when I left). From there I went to the meat department to get some thin sliced bone in pork chops. There were none on the shelf. I asked the lady and gentleman working in the meat department if they were going to put some out. The young lady told me the guy who puts them out was on lunch for another half hour. I asked if either of them could grab some and she said that was his job. I then asked if they had any Jimmy Dean pork Italian sausage. She again told me I would have to wait for the same guy. I went to the deli to buy some chicken strips. I asked the young lady working there was the manager available to let him or her know about the shopping cart and meat department situations. She told me the manager was at lunch. I went to checkout and asked the cashier if a manager was available. She told me the manager was in the back and would not be available for a while. I don't know if I came in the store at the wrong time, or if the store is being run poorly. I hadn't shopped there in a few weeks. I have never had this type of experience at this store all the years I have been shopping there. There were not too many customers in the store, so I'm sure they could have freed someone to bring in the shopping carts, and maybe they should have someone covering in the meat department when a person goes on lunch. I'm not sure what the roles were of the two who I saw working in the meat department, but surly they had some knowledge of the meat department. read more

Horrible store.. my boyfriend was about to use the bathroom and someone threw a plastic caution wet floor sign over the stall and it hit him on the back. When he reported it to the manager Sal and Sal said he'd review the surveillance video but kept us waiting for like 10 minutes as he proceeded to still ring up people!! Unsafe store. They sold me 2 month old EXPIRED MEAT!!!!!!! So I have been a loyal customer to this store for over 3 years, never had a single problem. I have always been very content with the service and usually everyone was very friendly......until you have a problem with the produce you just purchased. So I wanted to have a bbq and decided to buy 20 dollars worth of Bubba burger patty's. The expiration date was 3/05/14 and the date purchased was 5/26/2014. We prepared the burger patty's and it wasnt until my mom ate a burger that she realized the meat had gone bad. I was so upset that this store had sold us this old meat. I went back the next day (today) so that I can get a refund and warn them about the meat and maybe hoping that they would be a little concerned! Well......nope!!! The manager offered no appology and instead told me that the meat was fine because it was "frozen" so the meat was fine to eat. My mom is now sick to her stomach and these idiots think its ok to sell rotten meat. I cannot believe that the manager did absolutely nothing about trying to make things better. I will NEVER shop here again and neither should you. If they believe its ok to keep expired food on the shelves because its "frozen" then something is seriously wrong here. read more

This review is for the Vons pharmacy. I went in for a prescription for my daughter. I was told to come back in a hour. I went in after an hour it was not ready. I was told to give them another hour. At this point I called before driving there. NOT READY AGAIN. Are you kidding me. I was told please give us another hour. I guess I was very patient because anyone else would have screamed at them. I gave them 2 and a half hours. I was told to go in. When I go in I'm told that they have most of my daugther medication. They needed to order more antibiotic but they were able to give me enough for three days. OMG. Not going there ever again. read more

A few times I shop here, there's always 2 cashiers when the store is busy. The manager is horrible & doesn't notice that the lines have 15 people waiting in each line. Get it together!!! Around the holiday times, Von's always seems to have the best sales on what I need for my holiday dinners. Unfortunately, the one by my house is the worst Von's ever, always out of everything. Today I decided to come check this one out and try my luck. The parking is not the best since they share the shopping center with other businesses, but I managed to grab a spot. I was shocked how clean the store was, the produce and meat section were literally over stocked. The store is huge with a bakery and deli section, and by the way the chili from their Signature Cafe section is some of the best we have had. Von's is pricier than other grocery stores to me, but when they have sales, I will be driving to this location from now on. read more

this location seems to need a face lift. it's not as pretty as other locations and the parking lot needs tlc. it's nice to have a gas station and their prices seem lower than other places. i didn't find what i needed so i left without purchasing anything. read more

I only gave this store a star because I had to. Just moved to the area and it's on my way home from work. It's unclean and the prices are higher than other Vons. But the worst part was the Deli section. They actually put completely burnt chicken in the display. I was so upset and really disappointed by this. The young man named Jerome had the nerve to tell me that it was ok and it was at the bottom of the pan. Then why put it out. Tomorrow I will be calling g corporate office and going back to show the manager the pics I took of what they are selling the customers. I could smell the burn before I even reached the chicken. I complained to the store supervisor named Liz Beth and her rest was to call the number on the bottom of my receipt. I will not shop there again. I will drive the extra miles to go were they don't sell food that a person would not even give to a rodent. The only way to stop this is for people to stop buying there. This place used to be good i do not know if they fired or what happen to the deli/ food workers that used to be there but now they never have anything there no chicken wings, no soups, salads look dry an old looks so gross an it is only 12! I am only leaving this review for the pharmacy/ pharmacist. I called in to get some information transferred to a different pharmacy and the guy that answers the phone was so rude and literally responded "WHAT?!" and then i restated my question and problem that I had and he said "i can't do it for until tomorrow until 6/7PM" i said "okay, i'll call tomorrow" he responded with "i need your information" at this point, his tone of voice had already made me upset because of how rude he was so i said "its okay, i can do a walk in" he said "okay but don't come in until 11pm". leaving a review doesn't really help express his smart mouth, but this guy was rude and had no customer service skills. if you don't like your job then QUIT! find something better instead of upsetting others that have general questions or need help. i wish i could give it 0 stars. read more

This has been our main grocery store for years. I'd give it 5 stars if not for dirty bathrooms, low stock on many items & panhandlers out front. If I could give 5 stars just on customer service, I would...especially for Angie & Eric up front checking and Joseph in the pharmacy. The worst vons deli I have ever experienced. Pavillions are usually awesome but this deli not only cuts corners but serves black customers first. The guy making sandwiches looked at me took my order then said I'll get right on that. Then decided to take orders from the black customers instead. I love the vons at this location! Everyone is always so friendly and helpful! I never have a bad experience coming here. The produce is always fresh! Make sure you check the paper for sales and cut out your coupons! I like how they have the justforU app to save even more! Can't complain about that. This Vons is complete trash. Hire better employees that care about actual customers than attending to their friends who are vons employees as well! I waiting for 15 maybe 20 min with no line at the deli. The deli person was too busy making a customized sandwich for his friends. He would of easily took my order. My family do special order every month for Pediasure Vanilla for my son for about 2 years now and those 2 years I can remember about 2-3 times that they didn't miss up my order and that I didn't have to follow up on them. The most recent special order I did was this month 12-2-16 for a 108 bottles of pediasure, keep in mind I order this every single month and we spend about $1000 a month to this store anyway spoke to Sarah 12-2-16 to order nothing happen and after that Spoke to Walter, Aura and the Assistant director and nobody can answer if they did order it, now I just spoke to the Assistant director again today 12-20-16 supposedly they have it I'm gonna pick it up today and hopefully the full amount is there only took them 18 days to get my order right read more

Walking in to this vons you quickly see the differences between it and other grocery stores in the area. This store has a big produce section,meat deli,hot food section and even a bakery. You can find items at this store that you may not be able to find at others. As for customer service, they have a few nice and friendly cashiers and of course they have the rude ones. I shop here because of its quality and quantity of items. read more

Yeah I too remember how it was back in the day in this area.. Anyway, I had enjoyed coming to this Vons location because I could get a sandwich from the deli, and eat there in their small sitting area for lunch. Their sandwich's are pretty good, except that they no long have wheat bread, only white with some other strange breads. I mean how can you make sandwiches and not have wheat ? So anyway, I had started trying their fried chicken, and they don't make it really good, their batter is very hard, like trying to eat cement. They do do a good job with their chicken tenders tho... For fried chicken, I know go to Albertsons, they have great variety of fried chicken, but no sit down area there either :( Another thing I don't like about this Vons is that they give the green light to any type of pitchman to stand outside and constantly bombard you with their sales, or literature... I mean, I want to get in and get out, not have to feel defensive when I try to patronize the store. read more

I go in for one of their breakfast signature sandwiches at 8am on Thursday, which if you don't know are the best tasting for the best value, and I asked for a sandwich on focaccia and she said that, "I don't get that out cause most people don't buy it." I used to go to the pharmacy at Walgreens next door until they stopped taking my type of insurance and found that the Vons Pharmacy in Gardena was more convenient to go to since I do my grocery shopping there. But once I started getting my monthly prescriptions at the Vons Pharmacy, I found that the staff is very friendly, informative and helpful with all of my request. Even when i'm asking questions about "over the counter" products. The actual pharmacist has come from the back of the counter to the aisles to help me out. And they even know me by name. Now that's personalized service! I would recommend this particular pharmacy to everyone. read more

THE WOMAN WORKING AT 7:45 ON FRIDAY NIGHT 12/9/2016 provided me with the RUDEST service I have ever received in a Vons store. I regret not getting her name and complaining to management. The chip on my debit card was malfunctioning, and she was hassling me so much as if I was doing something wrong. I was clearly taking up too much of her time although I was only trying to buy a pack of water bottles. I asked her if the bottles were on special, and she grunted "yes but don't you know there is CRV" she was so confrontational that the man behind me offered to pay for my water bottles to avoid the confrontation. He insisted to her and she became more angry. She seemed to be so angry about something and taking it out on everyone. I love Vons and will remain a customer and will refuse to allow her HORRIBLE customer service to ruin my customer relationship with the store. People like that should not be in customer service and present a very negative representation of the store. read more

I don't have a problem with the grocery and it's close to my house. My problem was with the gas attendant Nidia older lady with blonde hair passed her shoulders. See what peeves me is when someone treats you like your dumb for asking a question to the point where they slow their speech as if you don't comprehend. Not only that but poor customer service and rudeness. That is exactly what she did to me. I ran my card without inputting my number for my Von's discount, usually it asks before hand this time it didn't show. I walked to the booth and asked her for help in regards and that's when she rolled her eyes and started with her nonsense even went to the extent of walking out to my car which by then it had cancelled cause she said I took to long which she probably cancelled from with in. Then she starts reading what's on the screen to me extremely slow which I'm not stupid and I know how to read (I told her I'm not illiterate) and by that time I asked her name, and told her to stop being rude and to walk away cause I don't need her help anymore! smh read more

This vons keeps ringing me up for my items that don't end up in my bag. I don't know if it's a mistake or the baggers trying to keep paid items that won't go missing from their inventory. But my items keep going missing. It's irritating, because I used to like this vons, despite the higher prices. But when it keeps happening, it's hard to trust them. Because it has happened before, I specifically looked back to make sure that no items were left in the bagger area. And there weren't any items left. So it had to be done on purpose and hidden. Because it's on my receipt. And I doubt it disappeared from the cashier to the bagger area. I should have known something was up because the bagger was acting funny. Even after I said have a nice day, he didn't even look at me. He looked irritated but I figured he was just having a bad day. I go here once or twice a week. But that was the last time. And in case anyone is wondering. I tie the bag up at the top so nothing can fall out during the car ride. It doesn't get untied until I get home. So no, it didn't fall out my bag.
