This is an A-OK supermarket. The location is a bit more urban for the South Bay, and tends to get a tad crowded, but overall the food prices and selection is good. Parking is fairly easy, especially if you're not lazy and are willing to walk a little, not expecting front parking in the lot. We usually go to the Food 4 Less in Hawthorne, but tried this one out. I'll say the the great thing about Food 4 Less is if you're catering a party that you should order: 1) Fried Chicken 2) Pre-Made Sandwiches 3) Fresh Cupcakes (opt for the real whipped cream, not the buttercream topping) It's really a good affordable place to cater your party. read more

Out of the 3 Food 4 Less I shop, this one is my favorite. Last Friday(July 12th) I went to this Food 4 Less. I was in the produce section and one of the items I needed to get was fresh corn on the cob. It was my first time buying fresh corn on the cob(someone else would always buy it). So I didn't know how to buy the fresh corn. It was priced 5 for $3.00( good sale I thought). I got my 5 but I saw the produce man Salvador and asked did I do good in my picking? He shook his head no lol. So he went over to where the corn was and came back to me and said he'd be right back. Asked how many I needed and went on his way to the back. This store NEVER has enough checkers! Only one checker for regular sized baskets, and 2 for express. Are they saying they just want us to buy 15 items and leave the store? Long lines in each One. Yes, i asked them to open another lane. The bathroom here is deplorable. It's "possible" the floor was mopped sry some point today, but the tile is falling in, there are huge holes in the wall, not a lot of tissue dispensers. And the large stall of the women's bathroom has just a roll sitting on the rail. The food prices are reasonable, and I guess that's why I come here. Lots of selection. Service here sucks! AnnMarie cashier #3 in a Saturday at 9:45am was rude and just abrupt when cashing me out. Prior to check out I had asked a clerk to assist me with alcohol and he just dismissed me and she witnessed the encounter which was not nice. He laughed and lied about his name . First it was Benjamin then he said Cory. She obviously felt some type of way about it. She mentioned him upsetting me due the encounter. I was not though. I chalked it up to him being young with no customer service training. She however was way older and salty. This place needs to get it together. People of color need to do better. Standard American staples that can be a touch cheaper since you bag your own groceries which is a good thing since many of us Americans are starting to feel too entitled. Soo difficult & bothersome to turn off a switch to save energy created by polluting, global warming powerplants which pollute the air we breath. Most foods here are boring, insipid, but a-ok. The one star is for the produce department with its wilted, ready to spoil in in two days lettuce and other greens which look as though they are in the same sad condition. Vegetables have phytochemicals needed for good health, anti-cancer properties, fibre to cleanse the digestive system, etc. And the veggies here at Food for Less seem antithetical to our well being. YELP 100 CHALLENGE 2017: 16/100 I come here primarily for 2 things: beer and steak. Compared to Albertson's less than a mile away, beer is cheaper by at least $2 and steaks are cheaper by at least $5. I know. I've made price comparisons. Tons of parking, but tons of carts everywhere. (More often than not, I see someone collecting them, but they might want to do it more often during the day.) Never really had issues with the staff. And the place is pretty darn clean overall. US Bank branch inside if you happen to be an account holder. And if you feel like a movie, there's a Redbox on your way out. I still yet to try their deli! I walked in to get a gallon of milk and orange juice for my kids, I noticed half of the milk and juice in the fridge were expired since may 23!!!! I asked an employee and she said the manager just wants them to take out produce and fill in the empty gaps! She then brought me milk and juice the the back cooler and said those had just gotten in this morning. When I get home i realized she had given me expired product as well! This food4less location is awesome. Neat, well arranged and well stocked. Unlike most locations I visit they opened plenty of lines to get the customers out faster. Their parking lot was plenty and what I loved the mist is that they had plenty of slots to leave your baskets when you are done shopping. This location was very impressive to me. To be honest I forgot I was shopping in a food4less. Items were very easy to find. Signs were very legible and easy to read. I love that fact too that they are a parking lot away from fast food restaurants so you don't have to go too far to pick up something to eat. No reason to come here except convenience right at the end of the 91 freeway for post-road trip shopping pit stops, opem till midnight. And maybe the fact that they have a bulk / family-size section with pretty good prices if that's your thing. So we just moved to Gardena and all I could say is that this Food 4 Less is awesome! I like the one in Carson but it was always packed, at this one it's never packed and there is always parking! I only come to this Food 4 Less because it's the closest food market to me but I'd rather make the trip to a farther store where they actually force people to wear masks. People come in with no mask and the security nor none of the employees say anything about it. Social distancing like in any place you need to speak up if somebody is too close so that's understandable but cmon AT LEAST ENFORCE A MASK. NO MASK NO ENTRY. Things that drive me nutty at this location: - When their ads advertise their chicken thighs to be on sale, I NEVER find any thighs here. NEVERRRRRRRRRR. Only drums! - They only have pre-packaged meat/fish so no butcher/person around to ask for a specific cut. Once they are out, you are SOL. - I find the stocking of essentials a hit or miss. I always walk away with things missing from my grocery list because they've ran out or it hasn't been stocked (especially if it is an advertised sale item). This Food 4 Less is like most of the others. Far from premium shopping, the beets were either too small or too big. The avocados are either too hard or rotten ripe. You can definitely tell why the food here goes for less. On a positive note the average staples are always in stock and the customer service is good! read more

This review will be based on 1 person who literally ruined a shopping experience at this store. The name is the cashier is MARISELA I think. Hispanic lady with a face that looks like she hates her job or can be the horrible eyebrows. Regardless I asked her for a couple dollars in quarters and she said, " I got $10" so I told her I'll take the $10. Then she tells me I have to think about it to give it to you. We do like to buy at Food 4 Less a lot, been customers for years and this review is specifically for the meat department at this store. On Memorial Day we had a get together with our family, planned ahead and when time came we saw that the flap meat (carne asada) was on sale at Food 4 Less, we had bought this kind of meat in the past and never had an issue. We bought about $70 to $75 worth of meat, they had it in containers and looked great but when we tried to putting the seasoning on it we saw that under the first layer there was fat, very thick cuts and hardly a slice we could put on the grill. Our son tried grilling it slowly but it was so thick and so fatty he ended up just putting it aside and went to buy more from another store; we felt cheated, why do they put a nice piece of meat on top and then just garbage? I do understand how important reviews are for a business and do my best to be fair, in this occasion I think is fair to point it out, we trust the store to sell us merchandise that will match their advertisings and this time all we got was a very frustrating experience; hope someone can see this and make sure they teach the people in charge to actually give what they offer. I am a little discouraged to buy this kind of meat again but at the same time wonder if corporate will try and work to improve this so I am not saying not again but will definitely update on future purchases. read more

I started shopping at Food 4 Less again because I was gradually finding other stores to be rather pricey (took me long enough...). It requires driving a bit extra (like... extra 10 minutes) to get here, but it's worth saving tons of $$$ when getting groceries at this place. They definitely have items that I don't normally find at Wal-Mart or Target, so that's a major plus. Overall, it's a very clean place. It can get rather busy after 4:30pm on weekdays, yet there'd only be about 2 lanes opened for checking out. So you'd be standing in a long line with 10-20 other people who also have 20+ items in their cart. Other than that, awesome store for grocery shopping, whether it's a major haul or picking up a few things after work! There's plenty of parking here too, so that's always awesome. You can pay by credit card here but the checkers don't bother to ask you for ID or bother checking that the face on your debit/credit card is the same as the one using the card. I've been to this location several times and never once do they bother asking for ID. So if you happen to be into credit card fraud this would be the place for you to come but eventually KARMA with rear it's head! I drove 17 miles to this which was my favorite grocery store since I moved to this area. This morning, suddenly a very rude man whom I assume to be the manager told me in a non polite way "where is your mask?" When I said I didn't have one he yelled "you can't come in". I looked at their website for the hours and saw nothing about the mask requirement. I see that in the worst of times the worst comes out in the worst people. Some when they get a small bit of power, it balloons to their head and immediately they become tyrant rulers of a flourescent lighted "kingdom". It wasn't being told I could not come in, but the way in which he said it. He yelled so as to let everyone know the boss has given an order. I simply replied "thank you" and left. And this person walked out after me to tell the gentleman handing out sanitizer wipes , "If they don't have a mask, don't let them come in!". Again yelling. This place is alright --- things are moving around a lot and the produce section is always organized. However, the lines are always long because they have 1-2 cashiers at most regardless of how busy it is and the cashier I had last night was just AWFUL. Her name was Nancy. She was rude, she wasn't at her register and when I asked, "Is this one open?" she gave me an attitude, "uhhh... yeah. That's why I'm here." (not at the register). When my wife and I started putting our groceries on the conveyor, she didn't even make eye contact, say hello, smile or anything... instead she was on the phone... laughing, chatting it up while completely ignoring me. Daniel is the guy I seek out when I want advice about which cut of beef to BBQ! This is my local grocery store and when I mean local, it's literally three blocks away. That's the only reason I shop here BUT it's only for certain things. Customer service sucks. Almost all cashiers are mad and bitter. I gave this place three stars because I do like going there for the basics just will never buy poultry or meats at this location from a couple of past experiences with bad meats and frozen meats. Went into store to get some Arizona can drinks, sign clearly stated .59, so i proceeded to grab 24 (case qty) and when we got to clerk she started scanning and then i see they are scanning at .89 cents. I told Monica the cashier stated only the mango drinks where .59 cents, i told him how the sign stated "Arizona tea .59" not only a specific flavor.
