My Favorite Trader Joe's: Always a Delightful Experience! Whenever I'm not in W LA or Malibu, this is hands-down my go-to Trader Joe's! It's such a convenient spot, and every visit confirms why this is my favorite location. It's no surprise that the genius founder, Joseph Coulombe--who worked so hard building this legacy from 1967 to 1988 (the same year my incredible sister, an amazing Internal Medicine physician, was born!)--created such a wonderful shopping destination. The Staff Makes the Difference.. What keeps me coming back is the consistently warm, helpful, and optimistic team. From my very first visit months ago, I was impressed by how knowledgeable everyone is; they always know exactly where to find items and when new shipments are arriving. * The Management: A huge shout-out to the managers! Emilio has always been so polite and informative. It was a pleasure meeting JP and Jerrell today, too--JP provided exactly the info I needed, and Jerrell was so thoughtful, reading my mind and bringing me a basket when my arms were full! * The Team: Angel at the register is an absolute sweetheart, and I still remember the lovely gentleman with the grey hair who had such a fun, outgoing personality--he reminds me of myself at work! And I have to give five stars to both Pierces! Pierce on the floor was so detailed and helpful, and Pierce at the register had such a fantastic eye for style--he noticed my outfit immediately! It's so rare to find a team that is genuinely happy and helpful, but you'll find that here. Why I Keep Coming Back.. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I love that this team makes every customer feel welcome--even my Dad has mentioned how much he enjoys the atmosphere here.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It's a joy to pop in, even on a quick run in my favorite comfy pj top, Abercrombie & Fitch jeans, and cute ballerina flats. We originally drove by Trader Joes at around 6:30am (they open at 8am) this morning, we were looking to get some limited edition pastel mini shopping bags, we didnt see a line so we thought they weren't on sale today. We turned around then went to the Hawthorne location instead. We came back around 8:45am to go shopping at this Trader Joe's location and saw people walking out with the pastel mini shopping bags, go figure. We did our shopping then decided to stand in a much much shorter shopping bag line, maybe 10 people in front of us. Lol we bought 8 more bags (one of each color). They have a shelf with their new items, which makes it tempting to walk out with more than I intended to buy. Parking can sometimes be a challenge. The Baseline: For a grocery store it must have a wide selection of items, the produce/bakery/meat selections must be fresh, the store aisles need to be clean/organized, the traffic flow must be logical, the prices must reflect the value, and the service from staff must be good. Food: This is Trader Joe's so it is going to have a variety of grocery items not considered standard by major grocery chains. The items I come to expect to be available from a TJ store are typically there and I get some good finds. On my visit all the produce items and meat items looked fresh and of good quality. The things I probably didn't need but were fun to find were bought. I also got ice cream, so good trip. Service: All the store staff were friendly and helpful looking for items we came in for. Register check out had a nice engaging conversation and helpful demeanor with staff member Kike. Ambiance: [[HIGHLIGHT]]The aisles were cleaned and stocked, well organized on my visit.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The flow of the aisles are slightly askew from a grid like aisle standard but were functional to the flow of traffic making selections.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Price: Trader Joe's has some really good value items but it is based on quantities with a 2-3 member household ratio. Been shopping at my neighborhood Trader Joe's for 30+ years. We love it here! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Although smaller and less busy than other TJ, they are very busy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This is our kitchen! We shop here sometimes 2 times a week to get what we need for the week. I know some of the staffs for over 10 years and watched many new ones comes and go. we shop at this TJ a lot, probably 2-3 times a week. Their business model is nothing by weight, everything by count. For example, they charge like $0.89 for a medium size onion, $0.29 for one jalapeno chili, etc. They have a lot of unique products that are of good value. But I don't kmow why but their milk goes sour well before the expiration date (this is apparently a well known problem) had that experience several times. It is so frustrating to start the day to make a cup of coffee only to find that the milk has gone sour. Too late to run to the store and get a jug of new milk. Also, some of the bakery products are not fresh. Their bagels went moldy so many times only after two days of buying. Their salads are very creative but the protein portions are ridiculously small. and also their return policy is not very pleasant. one time the manager gave me an unpleasant look and said to me that they do not accept returns unless there is something wrong with the product. I did not say anything but I knew that you can return anything of you are not happy how it tastes or how it looks or feels. As a matter of fact I read an article on the web a few days ago ' the 8 things i will not buy at Trader Joes' and what he described was very true. So most of the time I am happy with the stuff I buy there but some of them are not fresh and some over priced. They have a no sale policy which means they are the same price any time of the year but seasonal products like berries and vegetables are fresher and cheaper at other super markets. read more

Need some groceries so I went to Trader Joe's. Got some smoked turkey lunch meat for my sandwich. While there I thought yeah I need potato chips to go with the sandwich. Found some great chips cooked in olive oil. Love this place because I can always fine some unique stuff that other stores do not carry. When I went check out standing in line behind some big shoppers a checker who was open took me in so I did not have to wait in line. Trader Joe's is a chain of medium sized markets. It has its own label of some great products. There is a good selection of vegan options and vegetarian options as well. We really like this Trader Joe's. The service is just super friendly and they know where everything is. It is kept clean and the aisles are a great size, unlike some that are a bear to get through. Check out is easy and contactless. The woman that checked us out was so nice to my grandson, helping him pack up and such a sweet smile she gave him--makes a difference. As with all Trader Joe's parking can take a minute, but at least it is free. What I really love is their selection of things you just won't find elsewhere, like their tea, they must have 30 different kinds. They have a good selection of coffee and organic produce. Even their frozen section is good. They have some of their own brands and I have never had a bad one. They have wine at good prices and some different types of sodas and water. One of my favorite places to shop at! This location is typically stocked very well so that's always a big plus. Nothing worse than going grocery shopping at everything is picked over. Trader Joe's is the only place that carries the best cashews ever... it is a traders joes brand and they have one that is Thai lime and chili flavored and I am obsessed with them! Be careful I was a victim of someone stealing an IPHONE out of my own purse at this location. And management informed me this is the second time it's happened this month alone. Keep your belongings close to you and keep an eye out. They also do not- I REPEAT DO NOT have any active cameras on site throughout their whole store or any locations I was also informed. I don't feel safe shopping at this location/store anymore. This happened yesterday, Wednesday October 25, 2023. This is my local work TJ's and its not too shabby. I feel like there is way more merchandise to select from (it's huge!) and often find new items I've never seen before here, prior to browsing through the aisles of my own TJ's back in Pasadena/South Pasadena. Never have I ever had issues finding items I was looking for and I have never had to wait very long in line. Haven't really needed any assistance from staff, but I would say they're friendly to talk to at the register. read more

We are so in love with this Trader Joe's! Why you might ask? Well for starters, they have Mission St Hefeweizen beer that my husband fell in love with a few years ago, but we were told at the Whittier location they stopped carrying it. We went to the others (Brea, Pasadena's - all of them, Redlands, etc) well we were absolutely sure it was vanished from all chains. Then we came here on a whim, just happen to be in the area and why not right? He came back to me w/a few buddies, I mean bottles and there you go! I also noticed they seemed to have a little extra than the other Trader Joe's. Customer Service was also excellent. People that go here....just here to get their groceries and be on their way, most polite - not at all like the other Trader Joe's where they tend to have their noses up in the air, nope did not feel that vibe here at all. While it might seem like a smaller Trader Joe's location and the parking is definitely smaller & challenging at times, it's worth it! It's a good thing! Coming here, it's a good thing. read more

This is a solid TRADER JOES', a bit on the smaller boutique side, and the parking situation can be tough in their lot getting in and out, where the street parking is metered 24 hrs and monitored religiously. The selection here is good, nice fresh flowers daily too, and the service is always friendly. read more

Stop in here on occasion for a quick shopping trip if I don't need or want to go to one of the large markets in the area, they have a good quality of food items and the prices are very reasonable. Staff is always supper friendly and helpful. They do the best they can with the limited space, but sometimes you just need to go to a market with larger selections so they are not for everyone but they do fit the needs for a quick trip. Parking is the biggest drawback to this store since the lot is small and customers will back up onto the street trying to get in. read more

I have to say that this is one of the smaller Trader Joe's in the area. The parking, as usual, is tight, but they have really improved upon it, considering the small size of the store. Having said that, during this pandemic, this is my preferred store by far, because they really do enforce numbers of people in the store, and they have arrows on the floor so that the store is one-way only. If you're safe at the store. It doesn't hurt that all the people who work there are pretty darn cool. It's not just my favorite Trader Joe's. This is my favorite store. Yaaaay! I love that I can drop into Trader Joes, pick up a bottle of wine, flowers, cheeses from around the world, fruits and nuts and call it dinner! Whenever I need a "quick" idea for any meal, TJ's never lets me down, and the prices are fantastic. I admit most of my last minute hostess gifts are from TJ's. I even started my orchid craze because of TJ's...mu sunroom is full of them! I've got 3 of them near me, so it's easy for me to pop in. Fast shopping and fast checkout, even when it's packed. CUSTOMERS WITH NO MANNERS I like going to Trader Joe's but on this last visit (in this location) there was a problem. I felt highly uncomfortable with other customers shopping there. Sadly, there were rude people around the store, giving my boyfriend and I spiteful faces. I especially got upset when this lady almost ran me over with a cart, while I was choosing which cookies to buy. Then five minutes later, another rude lady approaches me with a cart, disregarding my existence and almost hits me! Leave it to Trader Joe's for always picking the "ideal" spots for parking. Of all the locations that I've visited, this one by far increases the most traffic and most dangerous. People turning right from Aviation headed westbound onto Manhattan Beach Blvd., will find themselves slamming the breaks because there is always a slew of cars trying to get inside a tiny lot. The right lane is ALWAYS blocked. One can imagine how disastrous this could be especially during rush hour. In addition to the parking lot being small, there are metered parking on the side of the store. Not all the meters take credit cards...so make sure to always have some change handy. I went to my go to Trader Joe's on Rosecrans a couple minutes before they closed the doors so I could buy bananas that would keep for a week. I walked in only to find bananas that had been beaten up and would not last a day. A Trader Joe's employee was putting out produce for the next day and asked if he was bringing out new bananas and he said no. I turned around and left. I knew of another Trader Joe's on Manhattan Beach Blvd and headed that direction. I have been to this one years and years ago but tend to avoid it simply because the size of the parking lot which tends to be on the small side. I have recently purchased a smaller car and figured it was worth a stop by again. I walked into this Trader Joe's to find bananas stacked high, slightly green and yellow (meaning they will last a week EASY). I purchased 21 for $3.99, that price cannot be beat. I walked around the store a little bit and checked out the selection and this Trader Joe's has everything a larger one might have only scaled down a tad. I think based my last experience with the Trader Joe's on Rosecrans this might have just won the title of the new go to spot. I walked up to the cash register with my bananas and the cashier asked if I had a monkeys at home that needed to be feed, I laughed, he laughed and I left. I am giving it 4-stars because of the parking issue, it is a REAL BIG issue. One person stops for a space and traffic backs up on Manhattan Beach Blvd. When I do come back it will be during off hours. I love how all TJ stores have their own brands and how the store is not large and overwhelming. This TJ's is no exception. PROS: - Small organized store for maximum efficiency - Flowers/potted plants located outside right in front of store - Friendly and helpful customer service: They always take returns with no hassle - Carries all of the yummy TJ staples I love - cookie butter, mini ice-cream cones, blueberry goat cheese, variety of frozen pizzas - Bagged and ready to go organic produce for a much cheaper price than Whole Foods - Vareity of unique ready-to-go foods in the refrigerated and frozen sections - Great samples every day CONS: - Small parking lot - Less organic selection than Whole Foods - Runs out of certain items on Sunday and Wednesday evenings Overall I love this TJ's as it is usually well-stocked, clean, friendly and in a great location. read more

Great staff, great selection, great prices...clean, always stocked, and very friendly people. This TJ's has a very happy, upbeat vibe...even amongst the customers. People smile, people say HI, and it's always a pleasure to shop there. TJ's has a great selection of veggies and meats. Lots of spices and sauces. Lots of healthier options, a gazillion wines...I really enjoy shopping there for the stuff I don't want to terribly overspend on at Whole Foods. Things I like to buy: - Premade salads - Ready to steam veggies - Green Tea Mochi Ice Cream Balls - Sea Salt - Nanners - Organic PB - Channa Masala (freezer section) The only CONS of this locations are: - Parking lots is tiny, and it can be a traffic nightmare especially with the intersection of MB Blvd and Aviation right there. There are street meters though, which I usually use. I pop in $0.35 cents for like 17 minutes and I'm golden like the grahams. - The avocados are always hard as all hell. Usually days away from being ready to eat. I tend to spend twice at WF or resign to lower quality at Von's because I need a daily avocado for salads, homemade guac, or to rub all over my chest hair to keep it soft (okay not the chest hair part, but you get the picture). THAT'S IT...Parking lot, avocados...full-on First World problems...honestly cannot complain about this TJ's one bit...good for me, good for you...cool. read more

Today Ozzie was my cashier and he was super sweet and efficient bagging up my cart full of groceries. I'm 7 months pregnant and without even asking me if I needed help out, he took the initiative and owned my customer experience asked another worker named Linda to assist me out. I told them don't worry about it but they were super sweet they insisted. I super love trader Joes!!! Super thanks to Ozzie and Linda for making my shopping this morning as painless possible. This is my favorite TJ's in the area. They have a nice selection of wine, cheese, and dried fruits. The parking is a pain I have to admit but I like the layout of the store. The TJ's on Rosecrans has a diagonal layout that makes it difficult get around. read more

I just got back from this TJs and am quite delighted. Spent $80, but it was well worth it, since I've got food to last me a month. Major plus- get here early! I was here at 9:30 am and there was like 5 people in the whole store, everything was freshly stocked, and lots of parking!! Love it! Finally got my chicken gyoza (they are always out of stock), lots of fruits and veggies, salsa, hummus, milk, sparkling pomengrante juice, chips, crackers, yogurt, etc.. This sure beats going late at night and looking at an empty store. read more

this TJ's is actually pretty big. I dont think i've ever been to one that was this spacious. Parking kinda sucked, very small lot. The wine selection is pretty extensive. But I have no complaints about this place. I do love TJ's though. Easy to walk out broke, but with lots of groceries if you please. read more
