staying across the street at the Fairfield Inn Marriott making this location so convenient. lots of parking though I walked over. the store is not huge, but has a decent size deli, and all the basic needs of a shopper. the space was clean, organized, with comfortable lighting. my shop included a need for hairspray, and at this location the aisle with personal goods had a single exit / entrance, and was staffed with a cashier, my guess to help reduce theft. bought some flavored waters, and the main checkouts were sufficiently staffed, used my Kroger account for the first time. very happy of this stores location. read more

The last time I came here was years ago (despite it being the closest grocery store to my house) due to the fact that it was absolutely, inexcusably awful in every category. I've been driving the extra distance to Trader Joe's ever since to do all my food shopping and have been really happy...but tonight I needed a few small things and Trader Joe's was close to closing time, so I rolled the dice and gave Ralph's another chance due to a closer proximity, later hours and the hopes that in all this time some improvements may have been made. I was so wrong; and the decision was a monumental mistake. There isn't a single category where Ralph's is even competitive with TJ's. The organic product quality was literally disgusting and I had to opt to just forego buying two of the items I needed. The bakery item I purchased (cake) was stale, loaded with chemicals, and left a strange film and aftertaste in my mouth to the point I couldn't even finish it. The employees are stressed out and spread thin due to insane understaffing (one poor unfortunate soul sweating & doing their best to man the only open register) Ralph's prices are much, much higher for worse quality and smaller portions. The only thing that seemed like it was a good deal was Kombuchas on sale...but once I got to the counter learned the price shown on the shelf required the downloading of an app, the linking of online accounts to other accounts, and an incredibly confusing time-consuming process that in the end GLITCHED and didn't even work! Long story short, I will be making sure to leave earlier and drive the extra miles to continue to go to Trader Joe's instead. read more

Fairly easy access in and out, parking lot is shared with a few other businesses but you can almost always find a spot. Great selection of grocery items. Prices are a bit on the expensive side but not horrible. Checkers, baggers, and department staff are usually friendly, cheerful, and helpful. Store is well lit and aisles are clearly marked making navigation easy. read more

With this hot weather, getting some lemons was the driving force for this visit. Really trying to make an effort to get the hydration and water level consumption up. Since I started mixing lemon in the water, I can't just do water by itself. Too boring! That said,, anytime I hit a major chain grocery set up, it always interests me to see what their displays look like, how unique the product is in the display, etc. More often than not, as we near the holiday season, the displays tend to get more elaborate. I must say I was surprised at the amount of clerks and available lines to actually go through where a human being could actually interact with you. Not exactly a normal shopping trip. I stopped into this Ralph's to pick up a few items because my son had a soccer game nearby. I WILL NOT BE BACK! PERIOD. Let's jump right into this review. On a positive note, the store was well organized, including the produce section and clean. So, video technology is amazing at the self checkout. Indulge me a moment here... you scan an item and place the item in the bagging area (weight sensor). If the bagging area doesn't sense the item OR you didn't select "skip bagging," the infamous "help needed" chimes to alert an associate to assist. Well, at this location, the associate came over, and then she reviewed a slow motion video of me scanning an item and placing it in the bagging area (the correct thing to do). Once she reviewed the video, I noticed she had to select a category of the screen that correlated to the item or video motion. One of the choices was personal items that I saw. This was my first time encountering a video of me being viewed. I shop at various Ralph's, including my neighborhood Ralph's frequently. The first time wasn't a bother, given that Red Bull didn't scan properly, and I had to rescan and place it in the bagging area. Which I did. The second time, the associate came over it was to view a video of me reaching into my purse to retrieve my wallet - to do what, to pay. As the associate reviewed the video, it felt uncomfortable, both times. I'm standing there as she watches a video of me and other customers waiting to use self checkout is watching as well. Given that other customers were chiming "help needed," and as I pan the scene of the associate assisting, she didn't review any video. One may draw a conclusion, but I won't do that. I will list some of my demographics below and you (the reader) can draw your own conclusions. My experience was just uncomfortable to have a video reviewed of me, not once, but twice. Both times, the associate review of the video, including her body language and facial expressions, made me more confused. In fairness, maybe the associate is just doing their job. Executing their training. I can understand that. I can even respect it. I'm in in a more calm state and chuckle inside my head now. Damn, technology can racial profile. Maybe it's a bit extreme, but this is a review, and a review is of my experience. **Note that I didn't have any response in the store. ** I'm a woman of color, 40s, and was dressed in cargo pants and a t-shirt with a baseball hat. I had a fanny pack around my chest. The associate was younger (20s), female, Hispanic decent (it appeared). Base on that, also a woman of color by my own categorization. Regardless of all of this, we are human first. Despite your race or ethnicity; I don't feel anyone should be treated this way by another human or technology. I won't be back. Honestly, anytime I walk in a Ralph's that has the vitamins, nutritional drinks, and toiletries aisle locked up, automatic red flags. I understand there's probably high theft and a big transient community that probably frequents the store. I went to purchase a few muscle milk protein drinks from the aisle. I also wanted to buy water from the store. Unfortunately, I was told that I couldn't buy my protein outside of the aisle and I couldn't bring my water back to add to my purchase. WHAT SENSE DOES THAT MAKE. It screams profiling. This is a regular purchase combination that I've been making for YEARS and today is the first day it was a problem. To add insult to the injury, I asked the worker to ask the manager if I could bring the water to add and she refused to call the manager. When I visited this store I usually can find products easy and the ambiance is cool. The hot food is fresh and they are usually well stocked. However , when a customer walks in to a store, they should never feel like they are bothering people who work there to get help. Somehow stores have grown away from empathy with helping customers especially people using self check out. Staff can't pick and choose who they want to help and how much they're willing to help. "Absolutely not." Is what Jamie said when I tried to reward her for doing such an amazing deed. I dropped by Ralph's 2 weeks ago today to buy lotto tix and to ask about a Metro TAP card, and in my carelessness, I left my pouch somewhere in here. I came back the next day to ask if someone may have turned it in, but no cigar... so I gave up on it. I just hoped that maybe my lotto tickets would hit something as some sort of consolation... but will never be enough... (I really was sad I lost it!) Back story to this coin pouch: my SIL got it for me (she's married to my brother who is a retired army veteran) and I've had it for over a decade now. Inside is a no-longer-in-circulation Philippine Piso coin that was given to me by one of my favorite uncles who has since passed away. (I'm not a coin collector or anything, but I briefly mentioned to him during some casual conversation about wanting one just to have it and he found it for me.) I use it for coins (of course) and loose bills... So, yeah, their sentimental value is beyond priceless to me. I also had my ID in there which is probably how Jamie tracked me down. My house phone rang at around 630am. I normally don't pick unknown numbers up, but when I noticed the 310-615-XXXX, I knew immediately the call was hailing from somewhere in El Segundo. And on the other line was Jamie telling me she found something that belonged to me. (I can't imagine all that work she put in just to track me down!) I came through to claim it and like I said earlier, attempted to reward her, but she refused. She mentioned she knew there was some sentimentality to it, that's why she tried her best to find me, and that getting it to me was a reward in itself. And everything is in there: the coin, my ID, cash. Everything is accounted for. Wow, Ralph's! You guys have really amazing people there. First Arturo, now Jamie, (I have a colleague who mentioned she lost her ID once in here as well, and staff member found it and returned it to her. She also mentioned she's had run-ins with Jamie, and that she's really REALLY nice.) [As for my lotto tix: I got $3 back!] Again, thank you, Jamie, for helping my pouch find its way back to me! Since you won't accept anything, I will make sure to pay things forward and do good things for others as you did for me. I shall never forget you. The short curly haired woman working at self check out around 4:30 PM today is the reason why I'm writing this review. I asked her to help me with an item that was not ringing up correctly. Instead of doing her job, she told me that she can't override the system to give me the advertised price. This is not accurate as Ralphs has done this several times before when the price that is ringing up does not match with advertised at self check out. I asked to speak to her manager and she refused to get them for me. So now I'm leaving a public reviews so the manager knows this employee is the reason I am filing a charge back with my credit card company For the difference, which is going to increase Ralphs's chargeback rate and lower their profits. If I could give zero stars I would! I used to love this store. It has gone down hill fast. If you call the store to share a concern with the store manager nobody answers the phone! If you are lucky enough to get the store to answer after multiple days of trying, they will never let you speak with the store manager. It doesn't matter what day or time you call the 'store manager" is NEVER there. The people that on occasion answer the phone have no interest in helping a customer. Very convenient location with access right off very busy intersection. Constant motion with shoppers entering and exiting. That goes for the grocery store as well as the parking lot. For the grocery store no problem, for the parking lot, keep your head on a swivel in all directions. Parking is tight and cars are darting in and out especially in the evening when everyone is getting off work and tend to be in a hurry with things on their minds. There are hotels in the area and a lot of people use this Ralph's to stock up or get a meal. Once you've made is safely inside, breathe, whew. It's kept nice and clean and all areas are well stocked. Always a lot of shoppers but they keep enough checkout lines open so things move fairly quick when you're ready to cash out. Produce is fresh and they have a nice bakery. Aisles are wide enough and everything's within reach. Bright lighting throughout. The bakery is one of the most underrated bakeries in all of the South Bay. I have paid $60-$100 for cakes that taste okay and seem somewhat dry. Ralphs on the other hand tastes just as good if not better, more lousy, and has that homemade taste, not too sugary. I'm just being honest and I have been around Los Angeles for many years. Bristol, hansens cakes, wehobakery, even Torrance bakery. Ralphs is still a pretty darn good cake when compared to the price and ordering from other places. You know what? I never thought I'd review any Ralphs because I didn't think I shopped here enough compared to Whole Foods or Bristol Farms lol. I've been ordering via the Ralphs app for pick up (sometimes I go back and forth between pick up and delivery) and my most recent visit was one of the best experiences I've had in terms of customer service. I placed a pick up order this past Monday, 1/23 and had my pick up time selected for 3 pm - 4 pm. I was a total hot mess that afternoon and managed to lock myself out of my house where my car keys were. I reached out to speak with a representative via the Ralphs app and they told me that it would be no problem if I came a little after the allotted time frame. I also called this store to let them know the situation and the gentleman (Blake) answered the phone and was very kind and understanding. I show up a few minutes after 4 pm and the associate that I initially spoke with was also very helpful and paged Blake to come to the front and assist me. The same Blake came within seconds and was super awesome. The parking lot was a madhouse on top of it so I wasn't able to park in one of the designated "Pick up" spots; I had to park pretty far away. Blake still loaded up his giant cart with all of my groceries and lugged it all the way to my car and was just very pleasant. This gentleman is hardworking, pleasant, and most importantly kind!! Upper management if you are reading this, please give him a raise - he deserves it! As for the store itself, this Ralphs is very well-organized and stocked. I will continue coming back whether it's to shop or just pick up. read more

Thos review is for tgeir pharmacy only! It's great. They answer their phone quickly, friendly, efficiently, and with great care for their clients, unlike consumer value stores. Manager Sherry is super. She is super knowledgeable about medications. I always ask her about my meds. She's so sharp she usually beats me to tge punch and volunteers great info before I even have to ask. And she gives great covid vaccine shots. The delicious frosting on tge cake: ralphs pharmacy delivers for free. The same day if you order early enough. Hours are like 9am to 9pm. On-the-go food options include prepared bowls by-the-weight cafeteria-style food (full- rather than self-service) and are serviceable but nothing to write home about. Manhattan Beach speaks for themselves. This location has more than enough parking. The grocery store itself is neat, orderly and clean. Plenty of items to choose from. Their cashiers are very friendly and personal with their regulars. It's a Ralph's unlike any other. But it has average prices. And this particular place has a Shtarbucks inside the store. It is convenient. Amiable personnel. Slightly interior and well placed items. I personally enjoy shopping there. By the way, there are 2 ways you can proceed with your payment: there are automatic machines in case you don't have that many items and cashiers if you have a lot of stuff.
