I'm new to this place and love it, clean, quiet and pleasant to shop here. The employees are always pleasant. The produce is fresh, sweetest cherries I've had in a long time came from here. The sushi company was replaced by a new sushi company and chef. The chefs are so nice and accommodating and love working on base. This commissary is an example of how a commissary should be run. My favorite commissary. They always have new products in the store and that's great! Everyone here is always super friendly. There is always a gentleman stocking the fruits and he'll say hi to you and even help you pick out a good one. If you're moving and you ask him for boxes, he'll go to the back and get you the sturdy apple boxes so your things don't get crushed. The other workers will also give you boxes from the back room. In the aisles, there is always a nice guy named Steven who will help you find what you're looking for in case you don't know where to look. He even helped me located firewood once. They were in the back room since it wasn't in season anymore. There used to be another guy Luis who was super friendly too, but they told me he only comes in to restock when the store is closed. He was always stocking the shelves super fast. The cashiers are also pretty helpful and fast. I've been shopping here for over thirteen years, and I wouldn't change it for the world. read more

Sorry to have to leave this review because I have been shopping at the Commissary for years and years. But, I've been going back and forth for a couple of months with Los Angeles SFB commissary, El Segundo, CA. And, up until now nothing has been resolved. This is in regards to a split transaction between a cashier named Sebastian and myself. In my opinion the cashier is incompetence and obviously did not know how to do a split transaction. My total purchase at the time of check-out with Sebastian was in the amount of $252.10. I gave the cashier $180 in cash and he was only suppose to charge my debit card $72.10. Unfortunately, there were no security cameras in the Commissary at the time of this incident (not so sure if there are any now); so it's my word against his. And because he was obviously not trained properly or just could not comprehend the training process on how to do a split transaction, I'm out of $180.00 cash money. Which has caused stress and anxiety for me. I have reported this issue to different management teams, the military police, and even written a letter to the CEO. I have requested more training for the cashiers so that this would not happened again to anyone else, as well as investing and installing security cameras for everyone's protection. No one of the management team or staff has excepted fault or accountability and I was never compensated. So, due to this situation that has left such an impact on how I shop and where I shop now, incompetence employees, and a lack of leadership that doesn't go by their own Values; I will not be shopping at this Commissary location in El Segundo,Ca, (or the lack there of), again. read more

The Commissary is one of those grocery stores that brings nostalgia. I remember coming to the commissary as a kid in Rose Barracks, Germany and accompanying my mom getting various food items. I came to this commissary as a customer shopping around. I have noticed that this commissary has a wide variety of issues that I will going into briefly. Below are my critiques. 1. Food The commissary does not disappoint in having various food options available to the consumer. The produce is not locally sourced but will sufficed. My issue with this commissary's food is there lack of checking their food items. I have found several food items that are spoiled or even expired. The commissary employees happily will replace the items or refund you, however, they continue to fail to correct the issue. CHECKING ALL FOOD ITEMS. 2. Customer Service/Care Not all employees exemplify Commissary standards and values. Some of these DECA employees have attitudes when asking for items and lack patience. I have witness a customer politely ask for an item and where it's located and the employee said with attitude, "I don't know... Maybe you should look around." Overall, This commissary could use some work. With proper checks on food items and improving customer service, this commissary could have the potential in boasting revenue sales! read more

The size of a Commissary is based on the BASE population and so, yes this one is rather small. But they do an excellent job of stocking most of what people want. A couple of years ago they made the isles narrower so they could fit in more products. It works. There's enough room on most isles for two carts going in opposite directions. The store is clean, well stocked and it's easy to find help if you need it. EVERY Commissary has baggers, it's not something new. You always have the option to bag it yourself. The baggers are not government commissary workers. The only money they make is what they make on tips. Overall they do an excellent job. A point on baggers; if you complain that something was smashed or broken, it doesn't come out of the Commissary pocket, but the bagger you had. They have to pay for it. So make sure you know it wasn't your own fault before you go back. read more

I've been shopping here with my family ever since I can remember (my dad was in the navy). It had become a family tradition and now that I am older, I see why we are always here. They have amazing deals! Parking: Lots of spaces. There's more parking near the exchange if for some reason the commissary lot is packed. Deals: Everything is not on sale here, but most items are lower than in your typical grocery store. Some examples are $3.30 for bacon (did bacon get cheaper? I remember when it was about $6), $0.69 for arizona tea (usually $1), 2 for $3 peanut butter, etc. Overall, this place has everything food related I can think of. Wow. I love this place. Daisy sour cream for under $2? Cool Whip for $.97? Hot chocolate (pack of 6) for $.73? Count me in. I grew up on sales and coupons so I LOVE cheap things. What's the point of buying something for regular price when you can find it elsewhere? There are no taxes, they take coupons (even expired ones). I saw lots of deals and even items that I don't regularly see at other stores. Inside, it may not look the most inviting and it's a bit small, but I can ignore all that. My mom wasn't impressed by the prices, but that's because she loves to combine cheap prices and sales and coupons. She's too picky. I do want to come back, and live by a military base in the future. They do check whether you have a military ID or not when you exit. So if you're a s/o or spouse of military (like me), you can't buy anything, unless you have a dependent's ID. read more

Best prices I've seen anywhere! I would of given 5 stars but the morning cashiers are rude and unprofessional, at least 2 have been pretty rude. I won't say here what one of them did because she'll know who I am. For the type of pay and benefits they get they should be a lot nicer and professional. read more

This is a fairly small, but pretty well stocked commissary. 90% of the time I am able to find exactly what I need. Sometimes they don't have "gourmet" or other speciality items and I have to make a second stop elsewhere. It can get pretty packed on the weekends, especially right after pay day. Sometimes the line to check out wraps around a couple times. They don't always have enough registers open. During the week it's a lot more empty. All and all it's a pretty good little commissary. read more

I love love love shopping here. No taxes & the merchandise is already marked down? Wow, sounds like my type of shopping. Now ladies I know you are all thinking I get to gaze at some fine gentlemen in uniform! Well you couldn't be anymore WRONG!!!! I yet to see one that makes my jaw hit the floor. I think all the good looking ones are in Afghan! Now lets talk about the actual staff & what the Commissary looks like from the inside. Staff is always friendly (I should know Ive been here multiple times), store is well stocked & pretty darn clean. Only down side is their hours of operations. I love this air force base for many reasons! The main being their lower grocery prices. And second, at the exchange, even with their low prices, they price match! When it comes to groceries I do recommend to shop before sunday. Sundays they are usually wiped out of alot of stuff. Clean, organized, and good customer service. They do check for military ID at checkout. The exchange could use a better food court. You get 10% off your order when you use your Military Star card. Also 10% when you use it to pump gas. I have found that the snacks/food at the exchange are more expensive than the commissary. Still love this place! read more

When we moved from living closer to Riverside AFB to Long Beach, CA, I was encouraged to learn of L. A. AFB Commissary. There is a difference from Riverside AFB, but the main one is size. LAAFB is smaller, therefore, not as many choices, but it is far better than not having one at all where I can shop at reduced prices, especially on retired income. The Commissary service has been good, and I am sure the baggers are happy when they get a tip for helping take out the shopping carts, but do not have to assist with unloading the purchases since we have a certain way of handing our cold and frozen items (into freezer chests). I am grateful for the privileges I have as a widow, and deeply appreciative of the service years. God bless all those who serve, and I thank God for the Commissary and Exchange! read more

Must have a military ID. Love the commissary and shop here frequently. They have great prices. Customer service is hit or miss. Self checkout. Have a large variety of healthy/all-natural foods for the size. Limited hours and parking are the main drawbacks. read more

I will only give them three stars only because the meat department here has been lacking big time . I have gave them plenty of tries but am disappointed to say that I won't buy any meat or salmon here because the salmon first of all on my first try wasn't expired but when I opened it to cook it it smelled awful now I like others thing in this store and the prices are great but here we go again I went to cook my steak and it tasted so awful I had to throw it away what a waste not to mention I could of gotten sick from eating this food! read more

This is a military grocery store. Dont bother coming here unless you have an ID. Those of you who do and are curious. Well lets see.... positive is that you got a commissary right here by the airport... MUCH better than hauling but up to the CB Base. Bad side, very cramped type of store. Laundry detergent (and some other GM stuff) is in the back stock room. You have to look for this or you will miss it. Price wise.. its about average like all other commissaries are. Some prices are so great you feel like you're getting a steal. Other prices are... well... you could go to Walgreens and get better prices on some of the stuff. The customer service here is about as crappy as it is at any commissary. They are government workers... and they will treat you however they feel like treating you. They dont like you bagging your own stuff. I left something behind one time and was told 'thats what I get". I dont have them bag my stuff cause they mess it up 95% of the time (nothing worse than tipping somebody $4 just to go home and have to clean spilled milk out of your car for 20 min and dry off your grocery goods.) Their response is to bring it back if it busted. For returns, if you buy anything frozen.. try it immediately... it is their rule that they do not accept a frozen product after 2 days. Even if its bad. So make sure... heck check it right there at store. Some of the staff are good... most are not You could probably find fresher produce out of the dumpster behind Ralphs. Milk (and eggs)... expect to have milk for a few days before it expires. There supposed to be a rule that there at least 10 days. I've never seen that. They keep the fresher milk in back till milk in front is gone or has spoiled. Meat.. meat is best I've seen in a commissary. For that reason.. I've given as high of a score as I did. I like the commissary, too. Prices change all the time, and you need to be careful. Today a 12 pak of Pepsi was $1.49, plus CRV, but no tax. That's cheap! Household stuff, paper goods, pet food, all without sales tax. The baggers work for tips, and about all conus commissaries are closed on Mondays. And they don't nit pick the use of coupons, so you can pick up some savings that way. read more

I am not happy with the meat section at this commissary. I have brought ground hamburger and turkey on a few occasions here. It looks red on the outside but when you open it to use it, it is brown on the inside. I will never purchase ground meat from this commissary ever again. read more

Commissary is great, the place is clean and one of my favorite benefits of the Military. Customer service at the food court and BX is definitely hit or miss. Commissary is in a great location- not a lot of choices out in the LA area for commissaries. We've been stationed in japan for the last 5 years. This is the closest commissary to my mom's place so I thought I should compare prices to stores out in town. The meat department had great prices and fresh stock! And you don't have to buy wholesale huge amounts to get that low price, which was nice. The cereals were expensive. Parking is sometimes an issue. The produce they had outside on sale had unbelievable prices. 10 corn stalks for $1!! Staff was friendly and helpful. read more
