This is a review just for bread--my dad and I did a quick run into the store for the "help yourself bread" where you grab tongs to reach for your loaf and place it in a bag. It was cheap. The place was hopping with lots of customers and was really busy. Too bad we did not have time to shop for other groceries!

El Super is a great Latin / Hispanic ethnic supermarket whose prices are more than competitive to the mainstream stores like Von's, Ralph's, Pavillions, Albertson's, Sprouts, Whole Foods, Gelson's, Bristol Farms, Trader Joes, and the like. I'd say it's comparable to the Asian supermarkets like 99 Ranch or the other Mexican supermarkets, and even a Food 4 Less, in that the freshness is good, quality is on par with their peers and pricing is usually below the average. An example is/was, Avocados were on sale at Sprouts 3 for $1; and at El Super they are 5 for $1, albeit maybe one can say they might be a little smaller (but I don't think so), the prices are still always a bargain compared to their counterparts in the mainstream. I'd come here for the fresh fruit and vegetables without a doubt. With that, I endorse and support as well as recommend El Super. Parking in the lot is easy too. It's in a safe area.

they have fresh vegetables for low prices. Also the shrimps are very flavorful. the only down side is the checkout lines always slow.

Do you have to bag your own groceries?

Yes, you bag your own groceries. It's best to do so while they are scanning them because the cashier will not help one bit, no matter how large your order is.

The staff has always been friendly and patient, and you can surprisingly find a wide variety of items here. We have not tried any of their hot food, but we see that it is popular. We don't always find what we need in this little market, but we are still grateful for its service! The parking lot is small in a plaza with many other businesses, including restaurants, but you'll always find parking. The checkout process is consistently efficient, even when there is a line of patrons, and we certainly appreciate that.

I love that it is small so I never have to wait to check out or worry about parking. I get most everything I need from here for SEA cuisine (papaya salad ingredients, sticky rice, rice pin noodles, frozen ube, canned lychee etc etc). Between a regular grocery store and Saigon market, I find that I don't need to go to the large Asian grocery stores as often to get what I need! There is a bakery here, I only tried two things and it was mid Customer service is great, a gentleman saw me carrying a lot of items and brought me a basket!
