Giving this spot a 3 star only due to their prepped food. More specifically their chicken and guacamole. I've had their prepared chicken at least 7 times, they're conveniently located near my home and my dad seems to think their meat is decent. They put way too much much salt on their chicken and it's every time. Sometimes the chicken could taste a bit old. Their guacamole always tastes sour, I've also had that on multiple occasions. Three things: 1) Add more cashiers. Everytime I go there, there's only two open that when suddenly one opened, commotion arises and some rude customers invite arguments. I don't like that. 2) Make sure you warn customers with your "Buy two" to get discount. Discounted price on red tag is predominantly showing but the warning "You must buy two" is nowhere to be found. When I asked the cashier about why do i need to pay regular price, he said i need to buy two and , he said our promo never changed. It's been like that. 3) Your store cashiers need to snile a little bit and show a welcoming attitude. 4) I may not come to your store again due to bad experience I had today. 5) I prefer El Super for price and better customer service. I came across this supermarket and was really impressed with the variety of food at the hot deli area and all the fresh vegetables and fruits they offered. Their meat area was clean and had many choices of fresh meats (also marinated). I decided to have lunch there and it was delicious. I had the chicken soup with tortillas. Staff were friendly and the entire super market was clean, organized and good vibe. This super market put "Ranch 99" or "Marina" to shame. I wish this super market was in my neighborhood (Fremont) Silicon Valley area. We have similar supermarket here called "Cardenas" but they are not as good as Superior Grocers on Hawthorne blvd. read more

As much as I like this kind of market with so many varieties of groceries etc, the employee that answered my phone call when I called this morning misled me and wasted my time in going here for tomales that were all sold out. Their phone employee woman told me she'd check, after she returned to the phone to let me know, she then told me they have a lot. Emphasis on they have it and a lot. I told her I'd be on my way over now to buy them. I got over here after she said that. To find out from another employee behind the counter at the tomales area that they didn't have any more left. Only the ones of vegetarians in the fridge. Went to get carnitas de turkey a the worker proceeds to add the food in a plastic bag. I told him that the food was poorly handled and I did not want it in a plastic bag, I requested a food container and he said that his manager from store #146 Reyna told him to serve the food in a store plactic bag. I did not accept my food like that. He did provide the plastic cup for the food. I find it ridiculous that the food was served like that and it's unprofessional. The LA county department of public health will be informed. It's ridiculous people would service food like this, it was nasty and unacceptable. We came in at about 8 pm because we needed a couple of things we didn't find at another grocery store. We even picked up extra things because they had it. The store was pretty much fully stocked and really clean. KESHA was our checkout cashier she was really nice and personable. She was attentive and knowledgeable about the products that had. I am writing this to report how poorly I was treated by the cashier/ female employee at the self check out area at the Superior in Hawthorne ca. I was there 6/5/24 on Wednesday morning between 10:20am-10:50am. As I approached the self check out, I found an open kiosk, rolled my shopping cart with all of my goods left it there walked over to the woman to kindly ask "can I have 3 bags please" she said nothing and just handed them to me, I said thank you. I went over the the kiosk to begin scanning my items and as soon as I started scanning, she approached me from behind and said to me " you need to make sure you are scanning every single item." (In Spanish) In the worst attitude I have ever witnessed in a store towards a paying customer. Her attitude was unacceptable. To which I responded also in Spanish "Excuse me, I am scanning every item, what are you implying?" She gave me a dirty look said nothing and walked away. I continued scanning all of my items she approached a gentlemen at the kiosk next me to offer help" which she never did to me. As she was "assisting" this customer, she kept glances over to me looking at me scan the items. She should have asked me if I needed help or assistance instead of invading my space and implying that I was not scanning all of the items in my shopping cart. I even asked her if she wanted to check my receipt and to check the cameras. I felt attacked, and accused of a crime that I did not commit. I was extremely upset at this point and even paid for my items. I regret completing the transaction, I should have left them there and walked out due to the way she treated me. I heard her say have a nice day to everyone leaving the self check out and as I approached the exit she said nothing. I normally don't bring these matters up to store management but I felt compelled to have my voice heard I am a hard working honest individual and to feel the way she made me feel is extremely offensive. I asked a cashier on my way out who the manager was and she advised me that she was on register three. The women tat self check out then ran over to the manager while she was ringing up a customer and pointed to me. I could not hear what she said. I spoke to the female manager who apologized for her behavior and as we were talking this security guard felt like he needed to chime in and make an excuse to defend her reasons as to why she did what she did. He was no where near what happened so how dare he chime in. That was also unacceptable. I but I still do not feel that she will tell the store manager which is why I am writing this email. I will never shop here again and will tell ever that I know how horrible I was treated by that woman. I should have gotten her name off of her name tag. He wears glasses, had lots of makeup on, middle aged 40-50s Hispanic lady. She needs to be re-trained. Thanks to her, I will never forget shop there again and will be taking my business elsewhere. RACIST CASHIERS!!! I can't believe I'm really making this yelp review but I am disgusted and angry by what happened today. At around 11:40AM I'm at the first cash register ready to pay, and there are 2 Muslim men behind me. The cashier decided to make a comment (in Spanish) in which she said to a cashier next to her (The ladies are both in their 40s or 50s) "oh my god, can you check them out please, they smell so bad, I'm going on my break, you take care of them" and they continued to laugh and say "how can't these people smell themselves, these people never take care of themselves".... Excuse me ? What is that supposed to mean? It's 2023 and we are still being discriminatory towards people? Is this the customer service you provide ? Prices are extremely high, conchas at the bakery are amazing (that's what I mainly get every visit), but they simply charge too much for items you can get for $2-3 less at Walmart. Yup, this place was tolerable and it is cheap loaded with quality foods and Mexican products. But it's gotten worse (is that possible? Yup even with a nice expensive hotel across the street, it's still an undesirable environment. Hold on, the pan dulce is always hard as cardboard so it has gone downhill, yet people clean out Mexican sweet bread like it's the best-it's actually really stale and dry. But you gotta to wonder how those people don't really notice the difference or just don't care it's cheaper. As for the rest of the souls depending on this market because it gets people through day by day.-They deserve better. And even though there's security, it does no good, it's just that bad and sad. I don't usually buy any other groceries from here unless I happen to be here and remember what I need for later. Everything from the produce and meat departments is mediocre but works if you're in a pinch. The lines are usually really long and the customer service has been hit or miss. I was kinda surprised at the poor reviews after going to the store. I never had an issue with the staff members and was very happy with the prices. I went into this store to purchase 3 items for breakfast! I went through the line at the cashier and paid for my items. I get a call from my husband and found out that I needed to purchase coffee for breakfast, so I go through the line again to purchase the coffee and as soon as I paid for the coffee I was approached by security. I know the Yelp average for this place is a little low, but I had popped in and thought Superior Grocers was great. Picked up some ready-to-heat Chile rellenos, chicken enchiladas, store brand fresh salsa, and a slice of tres leches cake. Everything was great and reasonably priced -- especially the enormous slice of cake, which sat in a bath of condensed milk syrup and cost less than $3. Lots of checkout people and many many customers stocking up -- so while this store might not have a lot of happy Yelp reviews, this place is definitely frequented by a lot of folks. Not only do they not have a great selection of products ( nor are they a specialty store ) on an average day it could take you 10 minutes or less to find what you came in for and about 45 minutes to get out of the store because they only ever have 2 cashiers with at least 50-60 people waiting to pay and leave. While waiting down the aisle I call the front desk and ask if they could open additional registers, the employee was dead silent.... Me: Hello are you there? Employee: Yeah well ? I first tried Superior when buying a large quantity of carne asada for a birthday celebration. Now I shop there every time I'm going to BBQ. Their meat market carries a large fresh selection at reasonable prices. The best part about this market is the prices for the fresh produce! They can't be beat. Word of caution.... check price tag. It's either x quantity for x $. OR X lbs for X $. You could end up with a lot more cauliflower than you really need at the register just because it's a great deal, and of course we can't pass up on a great deal. read more

Unbelievable!! So Oxtails are on sale for $3.99. Called the store and Mark tells me they are not on sale and they have none. The store is pretty new . This use to be the expensive Albertsons. It is very neat and clean and doesn't have that old raw meat smell that alot of stores like this have. Their unorganized in the hot food area. They tell you to pick a ticket to be called but turn around and ask who is next. You have to pay for the hot food before leaving that area. They do not have a big selection on meatless products. Every store carries morning star meatless products. They do have different ethnic products such as asian, jamaican and mexican. Overall I would shop here again. It's clean, they work fast, hot and cold food, and stays open pretty late. Plus you can always get a good quick birthday cake read more

WT,F is going on at this Superior, meat was brown looked horrible and their COVID-19 policy/enforcement was non existing, no one sanitizing the carts and them lied and said they were and the employee collecting the carts no wearing gloves, mask half way down his nose using his cellphone and touching his face. Store #00146 12630 Hawthorne blvd. On 24FEB2019 at 13:50PM My family and i visited our neighborhood store to purchase items we needed. I heard someone over the loud speaker "check zone 8. I did not pay any attention to it, Until the security guard came to my aisle. And stood there, He then proceeded to follow us to every aisle we went to. I then approached the guard and asked him why was he following my family. He said he wasn't, It was his job to check the ailes. I then asked for the store manager and voice my displeasure to her about my family being followed. She was very rude and condescending. She said "it's his job to follow suspicious people. I then asked her what's suspicious about a family shopping. She said to me "Well do you think you look suspicious?" And kept repeating the same thing to me.
