Classic steakhouse interior but with a little spin to it.

Came here for the first time for dinner on a Saturday night. We got seated at a table next to a large, noisy group of 9 people so it was a bit distracting. Even though it was primo dinner time - Saturday 7:30pm - the restaurant was just half full. I wish they had sat us a few tables over. However, the acoustics in this restaurant is well designed so we didn't have to raise our voices to be heard. If you are a hard-core steak connoisseur, this is the place. So many varieties of meat to choose from, so many sides, and sauces for your steak. The prices were astronomical though! Easily $100+ for a steak. I had actually had steak the night before so I decided to order Steak Tartare. I LOVE me some Steak Tartare & not many restaurants have it on their menu. A few minutes later, the waitress came back and said they were out but they did have beef carpaccio. Bummer. Beef carpaccio came with some argula and a dollop of mustard based sauce in the center of the meat but no lemon wedge. I had to ask for some. The carpaccio was super thin, it was fine. Nothing out of the ordinary. Got a plain salad to go with it. My friend got a large ribeye steak, I didn't have a bite of it but it did look juicy & nice even though my friend asked for it to be cooked well-done. For dessert, I got thwir peanut butter & chocolate mousse sprinkled with puffed quinoa. It was good but you couldn't really taste the peanut butter. The puffed quinoa was good but kept getting stuck in your teeth or throat. Overall, this might be a good place for a very special occasion dinner but I won't be going back. There are so many other good steakhouses in L.A. with more within reach prices. If you do go here, plan on spending $300 per person including tip.

In a day and age when great service seems to be slipping away, MEAT on Ocean reminds me of the old days when keeping the customer happy really mattered. Right on Ocean Avenue, we had a beautiful ocean view and could see the Santa Monica Pier from our table. Chris, the manager, is sophisticated, kind and incredibly generous, and our server Maddy was excellent. The food was delicious. Don't miss the buttery Butcher's Bread, and definitely try the different sauces, especially the horseradish with the steak. You can tell how much time and care goes into them. They even surprised me with a complimentary birthday cake. Great food, beautiful views and true hospitality. We'll be back!

5/5 Food: 5/5 Ambience: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Noise Level: 5/5 Ocean in Santa Monica delivered an exceptional dining experience from start to finish. We started with the steak tartare, which was probably the best tartare we've ever had. The butcher's bread nearly stole the show--we ordered two of them and will absolutely be coming back just for the bread. For entrées, I ordered the 12-ounce thick-cut New York Wagyu. It was cooked perfectly, seasoned perfectly, and ranks among the best New York steaks I've ever had. We also ordered the 30-day dry-aged bone-in ribeye, which had an incredible nutty, buttery flavor and was equally impressive. The oysters were outstanding--fresh, clean, and exactly what you'd expect from a restaurant owned by a team known for doing seafood right. My daughter ordered the meatballs, which were also delicious. A nice bonus: they offer complimentary corkage for the first bottle, so I brought a French red that paired beautifully with the steaks. Overall, Ocean exceeded our expectations. Outstanding food, great atmosphere, attentive service, and a comfortable noise level that made conversation easy. We will definitely be back.

We had dinner at Meat tonight. Love the vibe and location of the restaurant. Our entrees were delivered while we were still eating our salads and oysters which is never ideal. Also, I ordered my filet medium (pink) and it came out rare. They had to cook it longer twice so mine wasn't great. My husband enjoyed his ribeye which is why I gave the restaurant four stars.

A lot of options on the strip but nothing beats Meats. The food was through and through delicious. From the appetizers to the desserts. Even more, Valentina was very lovely. Her service added to our very pleasant experience.

Yes! Meat On Ocean?! The name has two of my favorite words!!! Meat - YES, Ocean - YES How can this place not be a winner?! Came here for lunch with some colleagues. Service was spot on. Consistent but not overbearing. Great ocean view seating as well. I ordered the 16oz ribeye. It was not surprisingly cooked perfectly. Had the chimmichuri sauce on the side which was tasty but definitely not necessary. Everything we ordered was great. From apps to entrees. Would absolutely come back for more next time I'm in town.

Came here for their DineLA deal. Came in at 6pm on a Friday and the place was practically empty. If you ever want to dine here, make sure you get her before 7pm if you plan on doing a walk in. Because a little bit after that, this place was full. Got seated and our server Miguel came to great us a few minutes later. We got started with the Caesar salad and meatballs. My wife ordered the Seabass and I did the upgrade to a Wagyu Eye of Ribeye steak. We also ordered the mushrooms & garlic mash as the meal itself does not include any sides. Our server, also mentioned that their rolls are at an extra charge of $11. It's been 4 years since I've been here, so I am not sure if the rolls were complimentary back then or not. We ended up parking in the underground parking on 2nd right behind the restaurant. It was $11 flat rate for a Friday night in Santa Monica. But the garage does close at 10pm. So if you plan on staying longer than that, you might want to park elsewhere. There's also valet parking for $16. Our apps came out and look very appetizing, but that's the only positive I can say as my salad was lacking dressing. My Caesar could have used a bit more dressing and it's hard to toss my salad when you're dealing with whole leaves in a shallow bowl. The pieces where I can actually taste the dressing, it was very tasty. Would have like more of it though or the kitchen could have tossed it before plating. That's one thing that annoys me about restaurants is when you order a salad, it would be nice if it came already tossed so you don't waste time carefully tossing it so it doesn't go everywhere. The meatballs were a bit mushy and bland. The sauce helped, but it would have been nice if the meatballs were seasoned well. The bread with mozzarella on top tasted stale. It was definitely not fresh and even with it toasted, I can still taste the staleness of it. Next came the mains and my wife's Seabass came out looking really nice and was pretty good. The crispiness of the Seabass was great. But then my Eye of Ribeye came out and I cut in to it and said to my wife, why does this look like a filet or sirloin. I looked at the piece I cut and there was no fat/marbling and thought for sure it was a filet because it was in the shape of a ball and didn't have the spinalis cap. I even asked our server and he agreed that it did not look like a ribeye. He asked the kitchen and they confirmed that since it's the eye, it will tend to ball up when cooked. I then wondered, why would anyone order a ribeye without the cap? I mean, the cap is the best part of the ribeye. I mean, the steak was cooked perfectly and had good flavor, but if I wanted a piece of steak that was on the lean side, I'd order a filet. I then asked for this to be switched to the 16oz Ribeye medium rare. After about 10 minutes or so, it came out and I saw how pale the color looked and knew that it had to be undercooked. I started to cut in to it and yup, the cap was raw, but the inside piece was cooked medium well. The manager then came over to check on us and I showed her that the cap was still raw. She then said to just cut the cap out and they will pan fry it a little bit to bring it up to temp. At this point, I've already lost my appetite a bit and was super disappointed in my experience this time around. She didn't even really apologize for that and I thought that she would have comped me something. I'll admit, the eye of ribeye was user error. I'll take the L on that. I wished I knew the eye of ribeye was a thing. Every steakhouse I've been to, I've never seen that on the menu so I just immediately thought it was a Wagyu Ribeye and that's why there was a $25 up charge. But undercooking my ribeye and this being a fine dining steakhouse, that's a bit unforgiving. Now I'm not looking for any comps, but some kind of gesture would have been nice. As for our server and the team, they were fantastic and I could not say anything negative about them. They were on point with filling our water and clearing out plates. Our server Miguel was personable and seemed like he cared and wanted to make things right. The manager on the hand, I would have expected more from her tbh.

We dined in on July 4th to celebrate my daughter's birthday and had called ahead to request a table with a view of the water so we could enjoy glimpses of the fireworks. The entire staff was incredibly accommodating, and the food was excellent. We had a wonderful experience and will definitely be back!

Great, friendly staff for this CME dinner I attended. Valet $16, super easy. Clam chowder: good for an appetizer. Size was a small cup. Came with crackers. Had nice chunks of potatoes and clams. Filet mignon was fire. It was so good. With the chimmichuri it came with. And the mashed potatoes and tender asparagus. Perfect. Cheesecake. on point. So good. Not too sweet either. Would come back for a date night or girls night.

What an excellent spot for great steaks. Everyone, from hostess(es), to bartenders, to servers, were great! Especially server, Timothy! Tasty, creative cocktails, nIce wine list, and wines by tge glass. Food was great. Oysters were super fresh, tasty, and accompanied by fun toppings. Filet was perfect, as were the Ceasar salad and Meatball starter (BOMB). Also had an excellent cheese platter! Only negative note was the chimichurri, which was more just an oil, rather than a finely chopped greens and garlic in oil. 100% recommended, and we look forward to a return visit.

This was our fist time in this place . One of my best friends found it and we decided to try it . The steaks are full of flavor . If you feel like craving meat - let me tell you this is perfect spot for an amazing quality of meat . Cocktails were really good too . Ambiance is great from the minute you walked in , is very cozy and romantic since is next to the pier . Our server super attentive - he took his time to explain the different type of meats which make it easier for us to decide which meat to try , such a great place fam.

Reasonably priced (for a nicer steakhouse right on the waterfront). I decided to splurge and get the 45 day aged ribeye. They charge per oz. The total price was actually not that much different from the regular ribeye. I honestly wasn't like blown away but it just tasted like a standard good ribeye, not amazing but the price also wasn't crazy. I got the mashed potatoes and spinach meant to be shared (even though it was just me). For shareable sides they were also reasonably priced and pretty good quality. The best thing at this place is the view, even from the bar. In fact, I came here a couple more times just to grab a drink at the bar and enjoy the view!

Chelsea - Best Rib eye I've ever had

Came here to reunite with some old coworkers and pleasantly surprised by Chelsea! This location has…read moreturned over quite a bit over the years, but this might be my favorite version! The dark green building exterior gives you a hint of the vibes inside as you approach it. There's valet parking or nearby metered parking. There's a small entry space and you're met by the bar right after. It's a standard size bar with attentive bartenders. The happy hour menu is for the bar seating only. The entire space itself is on the smaller side, pretty intimate and cozy. I can definitely see it as a neighborhood bar with regulars. We got some drinks at the bar and were seated at our table. The menu is the perfect size, great variety of types of apps, smaller dishes and entrees. If you're feeling ravenous or just feel like grazing there's a dish for every appetite. I got the octopus. The tatertots are not your normal cafeteria frozen taters. They're deliciously seasoned and are more like a small croquet. The octopus was also good but a bit on the chewy side. I like my octopus more soft. Still a very good dish. I definitely want to come back for the watermelon yellowtail appetizer. Looked amazing! I got the American samurai which was very easy to drink, light and refreshing. I usually don't like vodka but this was subtle and the olive oil drops gave it a beautiful scent. Lastly we ended with dessert, I got the sticky toffee with ice cream. It was good, not drenched in the sticky toffee but still flavorful and a moist cake. Our service was excellent, we were comfortable enough to spend a few hours catching up and reminiscing. Our waters kept full and we were well taken care of. Overall, a great experience, excellent food and cozy ambiance. Highly recommend!

Oddly enough, I don't find myself on the West-side of LA often. But due to some awkward planning, I…read morefound myself looking for a dinner spot and stumbled on Chelsea. What intrigued me was the Steak Frites but...other factors came into play.... Located on Wilshire Blvd. its not difficult not to spot Chelsea. I got the first slot as they open at 5pm on a Sunday evening and upon stepping in, I found the space to be very relaxed yet refined. It gave me modern Victorian vibes, with low light, and lamps. As I say I was presented with the menu and what was a surprise and threw me off my plans was that they had a Sunday Selection for the evening. Which was a a choice of soup or salad as the appetizer and the main was a Herb Roasted Prime Rib. So let's get down to business: Appetizer: Ora King Salmon Gravlax To be honest, I often open the menu to check out the full selection, and while doing so the hostess and server mentioned that this was new on the menu. I wouldn't be doing my due diligence if I didn't order it right? For me the Gravlax, I had in Norway is a high bar to compare to, however what really tickled my taste buds was the combination of the onion pancake and the salmon. The different textures made that first bite sublime. The fresh salmon finished the first bite cleanly with the caviar and fraiche adding some savor notes. 9/10 Starter: Lobster Bisque Light and full of comfort with your choice of how much pepper. Cleansed the palette and was a great preparation for the main course. I would have preferred it to be more thicker, but It hit the spot none the less. 8/10 Main: Herb Roasted Prime Rib The curveball in my evening was indeed a home run. Excuse the baseball metaphor but it was indeed delicious. The Prime rib wasa nice size (10oz) and perfectly cooked to my desired temperature and I savored every single bite. Paired with some spinach and mashed potatoes which rounded the meal out nicely. 8.5/10 I was chopping it up with my server and the owner has an Indian background which explains the subtle spices I was getting here and there with each bite. I really enjoyed it! The staff were so good to me and checked in consistently to make sure my meal was going well and gave me background on the new dishes which made choosing so much easier. But what stood out to me was the check. Yes the check. They presented my check as a bookmark. That was so unique and so endearing. I was encouraged to look through the book and find something to highlight and reflect by writing a small thought in the book. Such a memorable way to really seal your visit. Overall, Chelsea was such a shock in a good way! It was quiet, bursting with so much passion and flavor, and unique that it won't be leaving my memory so quickly. If your by, swing in and enjoy the ambiance and the delicious bites! Cheers!

Santa Monica has a special gem…read more On a random Thursday night a few weeks ago, I stumbled in with a friend. We had a few drinks and one pasta--the Cavatelli. I just wanted something to close the night out. I LOVE PASTA! We were put on notice about their new menu, so I definitely had to come back and try it out! The Cavatelli was sweet and savory... the BEST combination! I love sweet and savory dishes, and they did that to perfection! Now let's fast-forward to this week... I was committed. After having the Cavatelli, I was ready to indulge and see what else FIA Steak had to offer! A few things I'd like to highlight before I get into the food... Ambience: It's candlelit, romantic, and gives a speakeasy, swanky, private-club feel. Whether you're there with friends or a lover, FIA Steak complements any occasion. Perfect for date nights. Decor: Iconic photography is framed perfectly against sultry, well-lit walls. Paired with the rich red tufted booths and seating, it gives that plush, rockstar look! The industrial wall sconces are so fabulous! Hospitality & Service: Everyone--including the chef--was so nice! My past two experiences have been great. Everyone seems genuinely happy, and it feels like they love working there. Sometimes a little small talk with the staff is enough to break the ice, and both visits felt so welcoming. Cocktails: I had the Mamba Mentality. It was sweet and smoky because of the mezcal! I love tequila, and I love mezcal, so if you like sweet drinks that are balanced to perfection, the Mamba Mentality is for you. They have a brand-new mixologist, and he definitely knows what he's doing. He's super creative, and you can taste the passion in the drinks! The cocktail menu is thoughtful, creative, and worth every PENNY! My husband really liked the Toma Tini with Belvedere, tomato, Dolin Blanc, and verjus. Culinary Experience: The new menu at FIA reads very well. There are about 10 different appetizers. We had the Bread & Butter along with the Miso Cured Hamachi. I don't typically eat raw fish, but it was so delicious and fresh! I would absolutely order it again. It comes with caviar, lemon, and olive oil... YUM!!!! The pastas are handmade... As I mentioned before, the Cavatelli is hands down my favorite pasta! It's topped with black truffle shavings. Of course, I ordered it again. For the steak, we had the American Wagyu cooked medium, and it was made just right! I'm not an expert at grading steak, but I'd happily order the Wagyu again on my third visit! Juicy and delicious! My husband really liked the duck. It wasn't gamey at all! That definitely encouraged more than one slice. The Japanese sweet potatoes came in clutch and really balanced everything we had. They were the perfect transition (I THINK!) into dessert. We finished with the brown butter cake, with vanilla ice cream slowly melting all over it, making every bite even softer and richer. That was one of the BEST desserts I've had in a very long time! I really have to ration out my visits because... I LOVE REALLY GOOD FOOD! As a picky eater, I fully give FIA Steak 5*'s across the board in every category Overall Culinary Experience Ambience Decor Hospitality & Service Cocktails I will definitely be back very soon!
