I love finding a new place to try delicious food. Vons is no exception. It's a Korean restaurant that bills itself as a chicken restaurant. They're excellent at both. They have a lot of traditional dishes like Japchae and bulgogi but they also serve a variety of oven and fried chicken dishes that were unique and flavorful. The server helped me get out of my comfort zone and order something different than a traditional dish. I had the friend chicken with a side of pickled radish and fries. Wish I'd gotten the rice instead of fries but it's all good. My wife had the Hot Stone Bibimbap which came out sizzling and delicious. A good tip is to look at the portion legend on the menu. Best fried chicken in the Treasure Valley so far that we've tried! We did half crunchy and half crispy fried chicken. The latter has a spicy saucy glaze on it, so if you can't take spicy, I suggest ordering this either mild or pick something else. Also love their japchae and my husband love their bibimbap. And the owners are sooo nice! The guy actually put the red sauce in my hubby's bibimbap on our table and mixed it for him as this is his recommended way of eating it. Korean fried chicken is a staple I grew up on. This was my second time here and the service both times were superb! The owner will come out and sometimes greet you too and he is a bit of a comedian . What's funny is the chicken wasn't the star of the show... Their hot stone bibimbap was! It's very traditional (even with gosari) and a treat I would come back for over and over again. My mom also enjoyed the Japchae. Their fried chicken was good, but not great. It needed more sauce to fully coat the chicken legs, so make sure to order that extra sauce. We tried their Garlic (sauced), Honey Butter(powdered coating) and Yang Nyum(sauced) chicken with mixed full orders that gave us some wings with the chicken legs. Their menu is also a bit confusing, but look at the bottom and it will describe what you get for each half or full order. Also, do not get the baked chicken with vons special sauce , I was not a fan and it tasted like watered down tomato paste. All in all, the chicken is worth a try, but that hot stone bibimbap is where it's at! read more

What a great place to eat fried chicken! The staff is friendly and the food is hot! If you love fried chicken come try the KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) you can get wings or a whole chicken. My experience here was good, but they could use a little improvement. It could be better decorated and better promoted. The food was fair. I would go again to try something else. I wouldn't call it bad, but it wasn't the best either. The fries were good, my friend had chicken with cheese and it was pretty good. My japchae was very low quality compared to japchae I've had in other restaurants, in Korea, and that I've made at home. Japchae has a pretty consistent flavor, and this tasted weirdly different from anything else I've had. Again, though, it wasn't BAD necessarily. Just not as good as I expected. I love Korean fried chicken and Vons does it right. Located in an unsuspecting strip mall, interior is simple but clean and open. K-pop plays on the tv's. Food is cooked to order, fresh, crispy, and flavorful. My go to is usually the Yangyum boneless but the honey butter is also excellent. They offer a variety of other entrees and sides as well but chicken is what they do best. Attentive service and the owner/chef even came out to see how I enjoyed the meal. In Boise, it's been a challenge to find a Korean restaurant that hasn't adapted their dishes to American tastes or has managed to stay open.
