    Rainbow golf ball

Typical set up for these places. Meats, veggies, noodles and sauces. I make about the same combination everywhere I go. To my surprise, it was bland. I mean bland. The cook put so much water in with the cooking process the veggies and meats came out boiled, not grilled. I tried improving the flavor by adding jalapenos and dried Japanese chilis - still could not revive the bowl of bland. Not good. They should change the name from Mongolian Bistro to Mongolian Bland Boil. Mongolian Fire Grill in Nampa is head and shoulders better than this. The Mongolian place in Eagle is better than this. The Mongolian place on State street in Garden City is better than this. Huge disappointment after reading all the rave reviews on Yelp. Must be that Boise residents like bland. Figures. The rainbow crowd. They must get off on the dessert which is Rainbow Sherbet that has been frozen to the hardness of a golf ball. But don't fret, the miniature plastic spoon (see photo) will cut through it in about an hour. No fortune cookie today, but here is your fortune if you eat here...Bland with a side of bland served on sticky tables. The COVID freaks would go nutz in this place.

I have to tell you I love a good Mongolian BBQ. This one is just your typical Mongolian BBQ. The veggies were fresh and plentiful. Only three options for the meats (beef, chicken and pork) what they had looks and tasted good. The standard choice of sauces. They have three options for the size of bowl. The decor was not much to talk about with a few paintings and other Asian decorations. The staff is very friendly and pleasant. I liked that they scrubbed the cook top between every cook in fact the cook top almost glistened. Try this one, you will like it.

If you're in the neighborhood looking for Mongolian stir-fried noodles, this is your place! Here you've got your classic build your own stir-fry bowl with 3 sizes that you can pile high with veggies, meats, noodles, and all the sauce you could ever want. Plus, if you go before 4:30 pm, you can tap into the lunch price for your bowl, starting at $6.99 for a 'Little Khan.' My strategy is to pile the veggies and meat to the brim of the bowl, followed by a heaping pile of noodles that is at least 2 times the height of the bowl. But beware - the noodles cook down pretty well so you shouldn't skimp on them! The restaurant has a lot of space inside with booth seating and table seating all around the self-serve area and central grill. Ingredients are well stocked, seemingly fresh, and staff members were friendly! I would recommend trying it out if you're in the mood for saucy noodles with toppings you hand pick (literally) or if you want to eat a bunch for a good deal! Thank you Mongolian Bistro! :)

My wife have been to couple of these Mongolian grills in the treasure valley. My wife is a big fan since the days during her first pregnancy in Carlsbad, California. Unfortunately each and every location since then simply hasn't been able to capture the magic and overall experience until maybe now I won't get into the why's as what happened at the others locations in Boise and Eagle but I am thankful that Greg left an informative review for this location which helped me a lot. I'll be honest, we've probably drive this strip mall more times than I can remember and never once noticed that there was a Mongolian Grill here. On the drive over, my wife was convinced that we were going to the Thai location by the Overland cinemas. It was an Ah ha moment when we passed it LOL The grill was busy which is always good sign. There's nothing over the top remarkable about the service or the help as it's pretty typical. In all of these scenarios, you the customer do all of the work besides slaving around the hot grill For me the key to any Mongolian grill is the crispness and freshness of the ingredients. This is especially true if like me you don't eat meat. I like that there two different tofu options and really liked that the noodles were freshly cooked. Matter of fact they were want to the touch as I attempted to scoop them up as they spilled out of my bowl. The next trick in my opinion is to get the sauce and ladles correct. Most customers mess this up they don't take into consideration that they chefs use a lot of water to move your bowl ingredients along the grill essentially diluting your sauce and flavors. Here's what I do 1. Get my veggies and tofu 2. Skip the noodles and add half of the recommended ladles of sauces per bowl size 3. Get your noodles 4. NOTE : This location has additional topping like dry chili peppers and chili sauces Yeah !! 5. Pour the other half of ladles sauces. 6. For sauces. I also do the garlic and the spicy ones first then the bbq and Mongolian sauces last. I do this because I want the spicy and the bbq ones typically get washed away in the cooking process My bowl was awesome. The only change is that I would have put a little more tofu but hey that's me. My wife didn't follow the steps and her bowl was meh. It's a lot of food and not inexpensive. For two is was close to $30. There's plates as well. But it's not explained as to why the plates are hidden and how you can use them. I think the plate is what I would next time but a $14 one

Easily one of my favorite Mongolian places to go to to feast on a large bowl of noodles, fully customized by me. The inside of this place is very spacious, which means a ton of seats waiting for people to sit at. I like this because I am able to grab a bowl of noodles and find myself an empty table, where I can be away from the other customers (that's just who I am as a person). The restaurant is clean every time I come in for a visit and the staff are very kind and diligent. They have a great selection of meats, vegetables, and any other food ingredients that are fresh to pile. They have three sizes of bowls to choose from: Little Khan, Mighty Khan, or Barbarian Bowl (small, medium, or large). They also provide a good amount of sauce choices to season up the noodles. The noodle bowl take around five minutes to cook and the aroma of the noodles really stand out. I usually put sriracha sauce on my noodles and they taste absolutely amazing. I love this location because they give a small cup of sherbet ice cream at the end of each meal. They also have a stamp card that is eligible to receive a free, any sized bowl of noodles. Overall, this location is exceptional and high of satisfactory.

Always good. A lot of options for food and sauces. Just need to ask the Mongolian cook to not use to much water and the flavor remains!

Too much of a good thing can be bad. I didn't want to cook tonight so we decided to go to Mongolian BBQ for dinner. We entered through the back entrance. We did stand in the front for a minute. We didn't want to just seat ourselves just in case. The server was busy chatting with some customers so the chef told us to go ahead and grab a table. We got ourselves situated and headed towards the noodle bar. I love how many veggie options they have. Cabbage, broccoli, zucchini, carrots. The possibilities are endless. I loaded my bowl up with veggies and sauces. I don't know what the hell I'm doing sometimes with the sauces but it always ends up turning out good! Our server was a little disorganized and disoriented. She gets caught up talking to guests and then loses track of what she needed to do. I had to remind her a couple times of our drink orders and that we wanted the soup. She was a little older so we gave her a little grace when she forgot things. You can't go wrong going to Mongolian bbq if you have different eaters with different pallets in your family. And it's a great way to please everyone without having to make different adjustments for everyone. It was a quick and easy dinner and I'm happy we decided on this local joint tonight.

I wanted to try Vincenzo Trattoria but they were closed and I didn't feel like driving to another area so I just walked in here even though I haven't had much luck with Asian restaurants I've been to in idaho since I've moved here with the exception of a couple really good Vietnamese pho restaurants in Garden City and Nampa. I will say the woman working the register was very friendly so my one star is for her. She smiled and got me some water and rice at a table and I went over to the buffet style area to pick out my meats, veggies and noodles. I placed them in three separate bowls as that's how it worked a Mongolian grill restaurant I used to frequent in another state and the chefs there cooked them separately on the wok but then mixed them together and plated them but I guess that's unusual here. The chefs here cooked everything separately and boxed them in separate to go containers. The lady was on the phone and didn't tell them I was planning to eat at the restaurant but she got off the phone as they were boxing up the food and then they started arguing in their language. I said "it's okay, it's already boxed up so I'll just take it to go" and she rung me up and apologized a few times. It wasn't a huge deal to me but their arguing definitely was unprofessional and awkward for me as a paying customer. What really makes my review one star only is the food itself. I got to my car mixed it together and took a bite and even with the sauces I added, the food is so bland with watered down noodles, not the freshest of veggies and hard to chew meat. I stomached a few more bites but it ended up being a waste of money. It's now a little over an hour later and my stomach hurts even though I really didn't eat much of it. I won't be back.
