Volturno offers delicious gluten-free pasta, available upon request. Unfortunately, Volturno cannot accommodate gluten-free pizzas, due to the dough.

Is there still 2 for 1 pizza on Tuesdays?

As far as I know, based on my friend who was planning to do that tonight!

Did the restaurant close? Number is no longer in service and the website is down. Too bad, if so! Pizza was delish.

Nice for entertaining - and that is where the party was. It can easily fit about 20-30 people. We had cake for the birthday and people ordered drinks at the bar. The bartender was very friendly. Looks like a neighborhood bar where people know each other. They have some bar food like pretzel, hot dog - the hot dog was only $3 which is unbelievable! Anyway we all had a great time- played some corn-hole too!

It is located in the 'hood...feels sketchy just parking and walking in, even with the street lights on. Something about the trash blowing like tumbleweeds while police sirens blare in the background along with the quiet bump of hip hop just makes it feel so poetically grimy. Inside also feels grimy, which I guess is what some look for in a dive bar. (I personally differentiate "seedy and understated" from "grimy to the point of giving me the heebie jeebies".) There is dusty taxidermy all over the walls, some of which are wearing outfits- funny, I suppose, but just makes me feel uncomfortable to think of the globs of dust flying off into my drink or food. But before I ever noticed this, we had ordered a couple beers and a cheese plate. The beers came quickly, but the keg was definitely tapped- tasted flat. On other occasions we have had a decent mixed drink- the coca cola tastes normal and the ice to drink and liquor to mixer ratio is normal. The cheese plate- why they described this as a cheese plate is beyond me. It was one type of cheese- cheddar I think, with saltines still in the sleeve with a soup cup full of spicy Chinese mustard; some regular white onion slices were also piled sadly on the side. Pretty hilarious in all honesty! On another, busier night we were there and sat outside, which is pretty chill. Except that the staff rarely comes to clear old drinks so some tables are filled with empty glasses, making it so that no one can sit there. When you need a refill, you have to go back inside and shoulder your way through at the bar, which will have just 2 bartenders when they're slammed, one time (of the half dozen times we've been) I saw a bar back behind the bar helping. Needless to say, it takes about 10 to 15 minutes to get a drink at the bar on a busy night. The crowd is definitely mostly white (every time we have been, at least), which could be considered odd? The music is always either honky tonk, old people jazz, or folk music, and the musicians are always white. Overall, a fun place to hear live music (especially if you're white) and get a drink. Would not recommend for an extended stay or to get food.

However we were seated at a large, awkward table in the back of the second floor area where a door was open to an outdoor patio area. The temp was in the high 50's and since we were very cold we asked that they close the door to the outside or reseat us. Initially a cocktail waitress said (rudely) that closing the door was impossible because it would make it hard for her to get in and out. Eventually a manager type of guy came over and closed the door. Fine...except college kids were going in and out the door to the outside patio area every few seconds so we continued to freeze. Complained again and asked to be moved...nothing! Eventually and mercifully we finished our dinner and were ready to leave. The snippy and sassy cocktail waitress continued to go in and out the door making sure that she opened it widely each time, and sneered at us every time. On our way out I complained to the general manager and he said "sorry" but didn't acknowledge that we asked to be reseated and we were just ignored. This place is packed all the time so I assume they don't care about one disgruntled table of 5, still, you should know that if the weather is chilly don't let them seat you anywhere near the outside patio...you'll freeze and they won't care.

This was my first visit to Volturno's, though I had heard good things about it in chow-ish circles over the past year. I had a wonderful experience for a Sunday lunch today. My dining companion and I were treated with a variation on an amuse-bouche, a small single serving primo piatto of a delicious pasta dish that was not on the menu, cavatelli with pulled pork, chili and toasted bread crumbs. More than promising, it was entirely delightful. When I return, I will have a hard time choosing between paste o pizze! Our pizzas were wonderful. For me, it's first and foremost about the crust, and here Volturno hit a home run. I wondered if, being a Sunday lunch, the ovens might not yet be fully heated to get there (it can happen in places...), but my fears were misplaced. Perfect. I had the funghi, and my friend, the Margherita. Both were wonderful. If I had an adjustment to make just for myself , I might do with a bit more basil (if the basil's worthy; not all basil is equal - late season American basil can be rather menthol-y, especially if it's picked after blooming (hint - don't let it bloom; Italians know this...)) - though my understanding is that the practice in Naples is to have the basil as a light condiment rather than a dominant presence, so I can't fault Volturno on this in any respect. The wines my dining companion had were terrific. The service was flawless, and the space is wonderful. I wish the owner, staff and lucky customers of this place much success on a place I would consider good enough to drive over an hour to have a meal. There's not too many of those in my book. A word to people who are looking for the pizza they grew up with (Yelp reviews tend to have that issues): unless you grew up in Campania, this is probably not that. This is a really nice addition to the Worcester restaurant scene. There is nothing quite as delicious as a true neapolitan pizza straight out of the oven. I have tried the pistachio, the bianchi, and the volturno. So far, we like the bianchi the best. These are traditional style pizzas, not the ooey-gooey drippy american interpretation of pizza, which is where I think some other reviewers are getting hung up. The arancini are delicious, and the calamari also fantastic. My husband tried the pasta with brussel sprouts and was a fan, but I didn't taste it. It smelled very good. My sons liked their margharita pizzas and the nutella pizza for dessert. I would add another star in a HEARTBEAT if they took reservations or offered a translated menu- it's easy to figure out as the italian words are all food words, but it did slow down the process of choosing what to get. I would also prefer if house wine was served in a wine glass as well, but that's a stylistic preference. Bravo. It's great. Looking forward to the patio experience as well. read more

My Saturday night at Volturno was top notch! Upon arrival, we were promptly seated in the cozy, casual atmosphere. No need to stress about attire here. The culinary experience was beyond exceptional. We indulged in a delightful array of dishes including Beets & Mozzarella,polpo, classic margherita pizza, and Rigatoni all'Amatriciana. The polpo was a masterpiece, perfectly cooked to tantalize the taste buds, and the Beets & Mozzarella showcased the epitome of freshness. The pizza was very tasty. Drinks: Guinness, Aperol spritz & a gin cocktail While I refrained from sampling the pasta, my companions raved about their dish. Despite residing in Boston, I'm more than willing to make the drive for the perfect culinary experience that Volturno offers. What added to the experience was our attentive server, who struck the perfect balance between attentiveness and not being intrusive. Her service was flawless, enhancing our overall dining experience. Volturno undoubtedly earns a well-deserved 10/10 rating in my book. read more

I want to start by saying I'm a huge fan of Volturno. I love everything about this place. I can no longer say this. I came in at 6:30 on a Saturday, was told the wait was 45 mins. Apparently, they had mistakenly crossed off my name, and we were not seated until we asked after an hour and a half. We were sat at a bar, separated from everyone. We declined, then had to pick up our own menus, and wait for another table to be bused. Asked for the manager, and he only appeared after 15 minutes and having to ask 2 different waitresses. When told the situation, he only "understood" and offered nothing else. I love this place, but I will never return. As a young person, I cannot afford a $30 meal + drink with horrendous service. Was told to get a reservation next time. We stayed for our meal, waitress was rude about splitting the bill because apparently, they're system cannot process that. read more

I've been to Volturno twice and really liked it. I'm vegan and ordered the Marinara Pizza, as it has no cheese. The owner chatted with us a bit and he seemed like a really nice guy. He even gave us some background on the ingredients and other interesting tidbits. Everything was very fresh, and the Marinara Pizza was delicious. I'd love to see more vegan options on the menu, and the owner said he was open to that as well. I also ordered the blood orange cocktail and it was very tasty! The drinks are very good. The atmosphere allows for a diverse customer, so you'll be comfortable dressing casual or dressing up, having dinner with family, friends, or coworkers. Good location, plenty of parking, clean, nice decor, tasty food, friendly and attentive staff (our waitress was very nice!), and a good manager/owner it seems. Good experience. I highly reccommend visiting Volturno. Whether you're looking for a great date spot or a night out with friends, you wont be dissappointed. They have a fun drink menu, great wine selection and the food is always fantastic. From the pizzas to the pastas - you can't go wrong! And did I mention the atmosphere? Trendy but not overly done. Occasionally the service can be a little slow, but I still gave it 5 stars because I go for the food. The servers have always been incredibly sweet and very knowledgable in regards to the menus - everyone has bad nights. Honestly, if you want fast food, go to McDonalds. This is a date night, relaxing, enjoy the company your in kind of restaurant. read more

Volturno is a favorite of mine. The restaurant and its decor are lovely, and the food is delicious. Some reviewers on here complain that they couldn't get a 'cheese' pizza and that the Italian terms on the menu were confusing - but if you're not a complete moron, you'll enjoy it. The Margherita pizza and the ricotta bruschetta are two of my favorite dishes. It's a little pricey, but only when compared to other pizza joints; otherwise, it's on par with other decent restaurants in the region ($11-$18 per entree). Both draft beers are just $5! The salads and pizzas we ordered both times were excellent. Given the standard, the prices are reasonable. Salads were made up of high-quality greens that were lightly but adequately dressed in a well-balanced vinaigrette. Salad cheeses were kept to a minimum. It's all about the crust on pizza. Although the toppings are delicious, some topping combinations can cause the bottom of the pizza crust to become slightly soggy, making it easier to eat a slice with a fork and knife rather than picking it up. This is perfectly appropriate to me for this type of pizza, but I understand that others will disagree. read more

I attended Volturno's first homemade pasta making class! We had the best time learning how to make the pasta dough and then learning how to roll and shape the dough ourselves! It was such a fun environment and we enjoyed the hands on participation. The staff was so attentive to us, we couldn't have asked for a better night (not to mention the DELICIOUS pasta we got to eat at the end!!) I would 100% recommend attending one of these monthly classes if you'd like to learn about the history of pasta & learn how Volturno makes their pasta at the restaurant! read more

It was the best pizza I've ever had in Worcester! The crust is incredible. We ordered three pizzas for a total of four people, and it was perfect. The garlic pizza was decent with a few slices leftover, but our table was divided 50/50 on whether we'd order it again. The wait staff was friendly and helpful. Nutella pizza.... do I really need to say anything else? I have been here 6+ this year and I love it. The atmosphere is great, a little loud, but things echo in that big, beautiful building and its just the sounds of friends and family having a good time. I have never had a bad or even ok time here. Volturno is a great Worcester restaurant staple, right in the middle of all the action. The waitstaff is on top of things, even when busy, and the pizza is excellent. They also have pasta dishes, but they're more like the backup dancers-- the pizza is the star of the show here. And they have a lot of good local beers, given they're physically connected to Wormtown Brewery. It's almost always busy, though, so plan accordingly. read more

Some of Worcester's finest pizza. I adore the Neapolitan look. I've been here with friends, relatives, and on a date, and it's been great for all three. I enjoy their pizza combos, and the house wine is excellent, but it is served in odd glasses that make it obvious that you are drinking the house wine. Have gone there for lunch twice with both a large crowd and a small crowd... Both times service was pleasant and efficient. Got the malted chocolate- this was very unique it was like a creamy chocolate with tiny chocolate chips and the chocolate frappe was good again a unique chocolate flavor that hit in a good way. Unfortunately that's were the positives end. The restaurant in unbearably loud. They start you off with bread and unseasoned oil which is weird, no parmesean, chili flakes, oregano? Nothing, just olive oil. We started with calamari, which was mostly tenticles, I don't mind this, but my wife only likes the rings. My wife ordered the surf and turf, I ordered the FraDiavlo. The food came out in decent time. Which can be added to the good column. Upon delivery the first thing we noticed is that the chef cut the steak in half. This caused the juices to run out leaving it dry, the surf was 3 shrimp, which seemed like they are precooked and used for either cocktail or this dish as they were chewy. My guess is they are precooked, chilled and brushed with oil and herbs before broiling to warm them up. The FraDiavlo lacked any hint of chili pepper and I had to request chili flakes just to make it edible. It consisted of 2 scallops, 4 shrimp and 2 chick lobster pincher claws. In summary, under seasoned, over cooked food in a place where you can't hear yourself think. Plans on spending upwards of $200 if you want wine or dessert. We won't be returning as there are far better restaurants in the area.

Once inside, the lighting shifts to a nicely dimmed atmosphere that still feels comfortable and easy to navigate. We had a separate area for our group, and it was spacious enough to move around and mingle without feeling cramped, which I really appreciated. We had a three-course, set menu, and I started with the chicken soup. It was light and comforting, a great way to warm up the palate, especially since it was cold out that night. For my entrée, I chose the chicken parmesan. The chicken itself was crispy and not overly breaded, which I liked. I did wish there was a bit more sauce on the pasta, but overall it was still a solid dish. Dessert was cheesecake, which was nicely moist and topped with fresh berries. Our dinner also included complimentary drinks, and the service throughout the evening was very good. The staff was attentive and answered questions easily which was great for this larger dinner. Overall, Via Italian Table is a great option for company dinners or group events, but I'd also stop back in on my own even if just for a light drink at the bar.
