When I crave sushi I expect a few things- namely options! Volcano has a wide selection of creative rolls however the seaweed salad is a quite a small portion size... As usual I enjoyed some hot green tea (because who doesn't like antioxidant rich digestive aids?) and my coworker went to town with a platter of rolls. I opted for the dancing roll after my miso soup (a good one) and my salad. I personally think adding cream cheese inside or mayo-anything outside is "cheating" and crosses my sushi limits, so I opted for it on the side. The service was great and the ambiance is cool. Stayed at the Garden Inn right behind this restaurant and was suggested by hotel staff to visit this place for lunch. The customer experience was poor as hostesses and servers were not that friendly. My waitress did not greet and was rushing me to order, it almost felt like she was mad at me for some reason. The meal was excellent on presentation and flavor. However no one came to check up after meal was delivered and water was not refilled. I give two stars as it is very uncharacteristic to receive such poor service from what seems to be an authentic Japanese restaurant with Japanese staff. read more

Sushi and Asian food in Midland, TX? YES!! Driving through the area we decided to risk it on Volcano because we were so tired of burgers, sandwiches and other fast food and I am so glad we did! Food was fantastic and the staff was just as good. Sushi, Udon, Gyoza, Seaweed Salad and everything were all on point and I would highly recommend. We also ordered some orange chicken which I thought was a little sweet but my son loved. Not sure how they can do it all, but they can! If you are local I would highly recommend. We had never been here so we came here on Sunday 01-01-2023 for lunch. As soon as we walked in we were seated. Waiter came right to the table and took our drink order (unsweet tea and hot green tea). We ordered appetizers of lettuce wraps and fried gyoza. They came out really fast with our drinks. For our meals we ordered Hunan Beef with fried rice and Japanese Ramon with beef plus we orders pad Thai noodles with beef since we had never had them. Our food came out within a few minutes. Orders were correct, food was hit and delicious. Our waiter was very attentive and my drink was never empty. Very calming atmosphere and very professional staff. I asked for no cucumbers in my roll I got charged $2.00 to eliminate it ..and when ordering spicy scallops sushi that was $$5.75 I received a dam roll for $15.99.. so I have came to the conclusion that they act like they dont understand to up charge you. The only bad thing I have to say about this place is that they don't serve liquor, only wine and beer. If that's the worst thing I can think of that has to tell you something! Haha! I've had several noodle dishes which were great! Pad Thai, grilled ramen, and the curry noodles I tried General Tso's chicken with rice... I didn't love it but it was ok. I've heard a lot of people complain about the prices here but I think they're very fair for what you're getting and where we live! This isn't H-E-B! It seemed it had pecans, but other than that, said it was okay. For dessert, we ordered a fried ice cream. It was the sorriest I've ever seen. It was more doe/breading than ice cream. As soon as I scooped into it, all the ice cream oozed out melted. The size of the scoop inside was about ¼ cup. It was atop some whip cream with sprinkles, as if, it was for a child.
