Obviously this airline does not care about how it is perceived. What am I talking about? Well, just take a minute or two to scan the overall reviewed ratings of this airline. My review is overdue, because I actually flew with them to Guadalajara 2 years ago. The plane was clean and the attendants were friendly. But there was NO entertainment during the whole flight. Twiddling your thumbs gets old after a few seconds, now imagine three hours worth. Because of this, the flight felt like for-----ever! Come on...no music or movies!?! Given the choice, I hope to never ever fly this airline again. Also, a huge no no is serving instant powdered coffee instead of good regular coffee. In fact, is instant coffee even coffee!?! What a horrible company. They wanted $1000.00 pesos to check in a 24 inch grill. I decided to try my luck at the check point and was told it could not be accepted as a carry on. How can I give zero stars?? This company has no morals or standards. I booked a flight to Cancun and needed to adjust my return date. There is no way to do this on the app or website and there is no phone number. My credit card ended up filing a dispute with them and responded saying I couldn't cancel my flight. But THEY canceled my flight. My credit card paid them for my flight after this and they refuse to acknowledge they were paid and will not refund the money. I filled a complaint with the department of transportation and they finally called me. Only I couldn't Answer so I emailed them to call me after 5. They called and I answer after 1 ring and they hang up. Then send me an email that they tried to contact me "several" times. They have no intention of contacting me. $587 stolen from me! read more

Do not book travel with this company, at least not until after the pandemic. I purchased a flight for my two younger cousins and I and it got cancelled in May of this year, which okay it was for safety purposes so I get it. We each received a voucher to use within 6 months. After 5 months and things getting bad again with Covid-19, I decided to call them and ask for an extension on the voucher because my aunt doesn't feel safe having my two little cousins (8 and 9 years old) fly. Their response? "I'm sorry we cannot extend your voucher because it was set in May. You have to use it by November, but your flight can be booked for 1 year in advance." I then asked them if I would be able to use their vouchers to make a purchase for myself, and they said only the person who the voucher was given to is able to use them. I asked for other options and they said "unfortunately there are no other options, you need to use the voucher by November, otherwise it will expire." It's irresponsible and unprofessional in my opinion, they clearly don't care about their customer's safety or feelings. They're basically stealing honest people's money and it's disgusting! NEVER FLYING WITH THEM AGAIN. read more

I want to express a complaint related to your horrible service. Upon arrival at the Cancun airport, reservation WDQ2PD on Tuesday November 30, 2021. By giving Frontier Airline agents our reservation WDQ2PD they notified us that we could not travel to Chicago since they could not find our reservation. The Frontier Airline agent advises us to contact Volaris to notify them that the WDQ2PD reservation was incorrect. Had to call Volaris right on the spot. After about 10 minutes, talking to the Volaris agent, he informs us we CANNOT travel from Cancun to Chicago, that we need to go MXDF and leave MXCD at night arriving in Chicago at midnight. We absolutely did not accept it. The Frontier agent asked me to speak to the young man from Volaris to explain that there were 17 seats available and that he only needed the confirmation number from Volaris. The young man from Volaris insisted that he cannot give us the confirmation number since we must travel to MXDF and from there to Chicago. Me, with diabetes type two. After pleading with the young man from Volaris, he did NOT help us and hung up the phone on us. Do not fly volaris! they routinely oversell flights and then cancel ticketed passengers. i've had my flight canceled, even though the flight was not really cancelled, when i asked for a refund they refused to refund my money and would only provide a 90 day voucher on the same route. their customer service is rude and lie. the desk agents all have different stories as to delays and cancellations. The also nickel and dime you, not even a cup of water is free anymore. they fares arent really that low as they say they are for them to sell you EVERYTHING. do yourself a favor and fly with a better more reputable airline. read more

It has been the worse experience in my 40 years flying in customer service, the employee Ernesto Peña and his supervisor have no people skills, they treat customers without respect even yelling to people and ignoring requests and questions. I saw the difference of treatment with Anglo customers and dark (Mexican) people, unfortunately this is the only option (for now) for a direct flight to Morelia from Chicago, I remember Mexicana de Aviacion doing the same thing and look where are they now, even with their bad service, Mexicana at least respected clients. Volaris, you keep treating humble Mexicans like your are the king and you will losing a lot of customers if you keep humiliating the customers that PAY your salaries. Ha sido la peor experiencia en mis 40 años volando en servicio al cliente, el empleado Ernesto Peña y su supervisor no tienen don para trato al cliente, tratan a los clientes sin el respeto e incluso le gritan a la gente y haciendo caso omiso de las peticiones y preguntas. He visto la diferencia de trato con los clientes anglosajones y personas de piel oscura (mexicanos), por desgracia esta es la única opción (por ahora) para un vuelo directo a Morelia de Chicago, me acuerdo de Mexicana de Aviación que hacía lo mismo y mira dónde están ahora, incluso con su mal servicio, Mexicana, al menos respetaban a los clientes. I wish I could give this airline negative stars. I am a very disappointing in the way they treat customers and in their policies that don't make any sense. Here is the situation: Grandparents flying from Guadalajara to Chicago with tickets that I purchased. They get their 3 hours ahead of time as the itinerary states is needed ( which is already bad enough since most airlines only require two hours). YET, They are not allowed to board because they had to be there 4 hours ahead of time according to the Volaris agent. Volaris Agents at the Guadalajara Airport: They are rudely told that if they want to board they have to pay 500 extra dollars and fly the NEXT DAY even though the airplane had clearly not even boarded passengers. (This was three/ two hours before departure). They were also rudely told that people think they can just "book online" and that it will be all good (umm yes, people do think that because it is usually correct.) Customer support over the phone: -Tried to explain over the phone to many representatives the situation (in Spanish and in English) because every time I ask for a different department they talk to me in whatever language they pick( I speak both so this is not a big deal but I assumed it would be if you have someone who only speaks one or the other and they get transferred to random languages). -Their response: you have no options but to buy another two tickets. Why? because my grandparents had the option to change their ticket with a fee of 500 dollars while the airplane had still not departed. WHY would they want to change the departure while the plane is still clearly there? -Supervisors/managers (imaginary): I asked for a supervisor, Apparently they are always at meetings and don't talk to customers, "Can I give them a call back, I ask?" No nobody knows when they are back from meetings and reminded that they wouldn't do anything for me. -Filing a complaint: According to representative, You don't get a confirmation email or any kind of confirmation that you file a complaint unless they decide that your complaint is legit. she also stated that a complaint would lead to no good because there is nothing they can do and they should have been there four hours earlier or paid 500 dollars to board the next day. Side Note: They charge for Water! But on the plus side, I don't think they charge for toilet paper, consider that their only positive thing! ps: Give your money to another company, If I and my family members could fly Southwest all the time I would but Chicago to GDL is not available. I never get treated this bad by any other airline. read more

First off, I am a frequent traveler, so I have a decent expectation of what the low cost airlines experience is going to be like. Volaris takes it to a new low. My mom was going to Mexico and decided to buy her a ticket on Volaris since there is a direct flight into her home state from Chicago. Great, they were on track for a 5 star in my head. I go online and read the travel policy knowing that there is going to be charges... Measurements of carry-on for charging, what it costs to check a bag...etc. Have a good idea of what the trip is going to cost. So the day comes, and we go to check my mom in. Put the big bag on, knowing the charges when just then the lady working the counter asks to see the carry on bag. This is a small bag that has wheels (not a carry-on suitcase, small bag) and they tell us there is going to be a charge because it has wheels. We show them that it clearly states on website that wheels are ok... but she is not having it. Then the ticket lady tells us if you buy online you can get a cheaper rate. Being phone savvy, we ask, "if I buy it now on the phone will it be honored", she says yes at first. We let the next person in line go, knowing i can buy pay for baggage pretty quick. Well I find it, enter locator number, enter credit card... BAM it does not work. I keep getting a code error from their website. That they have a unexpected "\" in their code. So we tell her the website is now working. I try another browser thinking maybe... Nope same issue. Call friend tries it from work... same issue. Wait it finally comes up again on my phone and I cannot select pay for carry on. We tell her we cannot select it and she now proceeds to tell us that it is past the time to pay online. UGH... so we end up paying for it... and my mom gets on her merry way... Of course the ticket agent gave her the wrong person ticket... she cannot get through security has to come back to get a new ticket issued. Try two.. with a little steam coming off my moms head, she gets through security to get to her gate and of course the flight be delayed by a hour. After all that, they charged me the $18 from the online transaction. I have called and they are investigating! BAD BAD SERVICE all the way around. The ticket agent was not helpful more of a attitude, the airlines tries to vacuum every penny from your pocket and a low cost airline becomes more expensive than a luxury airline. Yes luxury not regular. Never AGAIN. read more

Pretty awful costumer service. Itzel, the supervisor was not able to handle customer situations and left during the middle of someone's sentence and walked away to the other side of the airport. She was so rude, kept interrupting, called customers liars, and smirked when a client responded. Another staff member, Jennifer stayed behind to deal with the clients. I really suggest this airline has a top to down reform on simple people skills. I flew with Southwest, Ryanair, British Airways, Airlingus, Delta and United and never in my life experienced such disrespect. Don't be fooled on the low prices, you are really paying what you are getting for with this terrible airline. read more

Charges for everything! Purchased 2 round triptickets for $1200. Arrived 1 hr 1/2 before departure and they cared less to even have the desk open much less talk to us. Lost those tickets completely. There's no point on wasting your time nor battery going back and forth with the operator on how the decided to close the check in desk almost 2 hours early. They can careless what you have to say or what happened. THEY WILL NOT GIVE YOU A REFUND OR CREDIT. We had to purchase another ticket with united and used the same return flight with VOLARIS. Got charged for a CARRY ON, SOMETHING I WILL CARRY! Wtf! AFTER I HAD VERIFIED WITH THE FRONT DESK AND APPROVED OF MY CARRY ON.... then to make things worse I got strip searched. This airline is not worth it what so ever. I rather spend an additional $100 and not have to deal with unprofessional, noncaring staff. Oh and just wait till you get on the plane- that thing feels like it's made out of cardboard.. the seats, I'm Sure,NEVER GET CLEANED. I have a home and family in Colima and I fly there every three months. I took a chance and flew Volaris from Guadalajara to Midway yesterday (November 22, 2015) as an earlier alternative to my usual carrier AeroMexico - which arrives at O'hare at 12:20 a.m. I would not recommend using this airline. I sat in the 2nd row and was amazed at how much time the pilots and flight attends spent time simply chatting and laughing - even during periods of moderate turbulence. The pilots did not provide any flight information and the flight attendants where just as oblivious. There is a basic level of professionalism (demonstrated on AeroMexico) that just isn't a part of the service on Volaris. I know Volaris bills itself as a low-cost alternative to AeroMexico and other US airlines and in this case the old adage is true - you get what you pay for.... If you expect a high-level of professionalism from your airliner - avoid this airline. read more

This is one of the worst airlines. Their customer service is the worst. When you buy additional services online they have no clue when you check in. They do not care about the seniors who require wheelchairs or additional assistance which they charge for. read more

Volaris has one of the worst transportation services I have ever encountered. The company has changed my flight without any previous notice, and they claim that they did send an email (lies). Website is very customer unfriendly, does not have the adequate information to get a hold of them. I have requested password reminders and their system does not send them. They charge for every little thing when you travel with them, baggage, seat, beverage, etc. and yes you must be wondering why I continue to travel with them, unfortunately it is one out of two airlines that has a direct flight to my hometown in Mexico. read more

My wheelchair was broken at airport in Morelia. I was offered a $25 voucher that I was told I could use it to buy luggage. When I called to buy the luggage on my trip I was told the voucher is only valid on a trip. But at airport at moment of filling out the claim I was told clearly I could use it to buy luggage. I even told them I had my tickets purchased already until august of 2019. How stupid would I be to accept a voucher I am not going to use it at all because I already have my tickets and voucher is only valid on the purchase of a new ticket? Would you accept a voucher on those conditions? why did they lie to me at airport? Now I have an unusable wheel chair and I cant use the voucher to pay for luggage. read more

My sister checked in her language...they told her they would make an announcement when they were ready for boarding. They called her to notify her the plane was leaving...they were able to get her language out of the airplane... read more

Rating this a one is more than this airline deserves. The worst customer service I have ever experienced. Called to confirm requirements for traveling with a dog I had rescued during my stay. The agent over the phone clarified all vaccinations and other requirements had been met. I triple checked that the dog met all requirements and the agent confirmed each time. I bought the ticket for the new family member and thought everything was great. The day of travel, at the airport, the agent informed that the dog was missing one of the vaccinations and would not be able to travel. After a debacle of getting documentation emailed from the vet, the dog was cleared but the agent would not let us board because we were now past the time they allowed for checking in. The treatment I received from the agents of this airline is below not helpful,not understanding, or not caring. I will never fly with Volaris again and will tell each and everyone I know to never fly with them. read more

We got tickets for our trip two days ago to go to Mexico. We received a legit confirmation code. Then my husband decided to give them a call since we hadn't received an email. He believed maybe he had put in his email wrong, he checked his spam and junk email and nothing. He calls 2 days later and they say that our plane tickets where not available. They said our cards were declined. Volaris gave a confirmation code but the card did not go through? How is that possible. They wanted to sell us the same plane tickets for $300 dollars more. They didn't even have the courage to give us a courtesy call to let us know that the so-called card didn't have any money on it, when it did. Imagine if we would've waited till the day of our trip and go with all of our luggage thinking that we had a reservation. I don't understand how this could even happen I'm not putting this out just because I'm upset. No, just imagine if you were in my place. They weren't even nice enough to accommodate us at least offering us the same price after we had already booked the ticket. They wanted us to pay $300 more. When asked if they could accommodate us, if they could help us, they said there's nothing that they can do. Really? Was was there nothing they could've done for us? We had been planning this trip for a long time but finally found affordable tickets and we had a confirmation code. We will definitely make this public so that this doesn't ever happen to any one. Volaris has poor customer service, to be exact poor service in general. read more

Price is low but a case of you get what you pay for. I'm ok with the idea of itemized pricing. Every frill has a price. No no deal. But I expect competence in exchange for my ticket fare. I pay for the ticket, the airline flys me where I need to go in a competent manner. But, ah, wait! Not so! I was in a flight from Leon Guanajuato to Chicago on March 29. Once the flight was boarded, which is laborious to say the least, someone from the flight crew came on the PA system to announce that the plane had one too many passengers on board. The flight crew stated that a non ticketed person had gotten aboard. Ok, I thought, this stuff can happen. This announcement came after THREE flight attendants came through the cabin counting passengers with an old fashioned clicker counter. After the announcement, we were told that everyone would need to produce a boarding pass so that the flight crew could check tickets. So, the first guy through the cabin comes through and does just that. Makes sure we all have tickets in hand. Then a second announcement. The next crew member through would count. So, they come through the plane and do an inventory. Then, another announcement. The crew was going to have to go and enter the inventory one passenger at a time in the computer system. 30 minutes later, they came on the PA system and announced that they found the problem and they were ready to go. The problem? The crew had miscounted THREE times. Come on! Really??? The problem that they discovered is that each person who came through with the clicker had mis clicked. I get it...things happen. But for one, if counting that high is going to cause problems, why not count the empty seats vs the full ones. It's certainly easier to count to 3 vs 120. To add insult to this counting fiasco, the way that I found out that the crew miscounted is because they were in the back of the plane laughing with each other about how they messed up! Again, I'm ok with cheap tickets where each item costs. I don't want a bag of chips but if I decide that I do, I'll pay $5 for it. But again, for the price of my ticket, I want a competent crew who can count. Inconvenience aside, if the same level of competency exists elsewhere (calculating weight, fuel required, etc), there could be issues. Leadership of Volaris: Get good people, train, retrain. Look for efficiencies. Perhaps instead of counting full seats, count empties?? For my next flight to Mexico, I will look for another airline. Again, I get incompetence. It's everywhere and it always will be. But a lack of competence where safety counts is no laughing matter. If you want to fly planes, you have to do all the stuff that goes with it...counting included. Do better! read more

Haven't used volaris, but I dropped off my sister this morning and since she was flying alone with her four month old baby we requested a pass to help her with her luggage. The lady handing out immigration papers to fill out said Volaris didn't give passes, so she went and "asked" the supervisor. B@#!*h just walked in and out of the door and said the supervisor didn't allow it. She didn't even offer to have someone help her. The guy taking the luggage had absolutely no customer service skills neither did that woman who asked for a pass. If that's the service before getting on the plane I can't even imagine how it is once you are on the plane. BTW I didn't see many people checking in must have been the time, the weather, or they just don't have many customers. The owners and workers should fly the way customers do see how they like their own service. read more

This review is for the customer service only, I have yet to fly with volaris, but honestly I feel like it's going to be great! The person who helped me today' (a few days) before my flight has very attentive, answered all my questions in a short simple- yet very informed way, his name is Alejandro by the way!!! Volaris he is definitely a person who you need part of your team. He represents you guys really well! Others who I spoke to before didn't know exactly what I was talking about and proceeded to give me false and cut-off-short information. Smh. I was finally lucky to speak to Alejandro and I'm so glad he was the one to answer my call! Seriously, poor guy I asked him EVERY QUESTION that others didn't answer properly; and if he wasn't sure he would put me on hold and go verify. He's awesome! Possibly the worst airline ever, got to the airport at 6:30 a.m my flight was at 8:50 a.m waited in line until about 8:40 a.m. Just ridiculous, the only airline with the line out the door. 30 min. Delay because they had to wait for everyone that was in that long line to come. Not to mention when I finally got up to check in the man was very rude, didn't greet me. Took my passport and when I asked a question he ignored me. A worker going around talking and taking pictures of the long line instead of getting up there to help. On the plane there is no movie so bring something to keep you busy. Never flying on this airline ever again! If I could give this zero stars I would but it won't let me. read more

Wish I could give zero stars. On a ZCL to Midway flight they said "the system" wouldn't let them check in my daughter because we bought an infant ticket online. The system thought she was two even though she clearly was not. They forced us to buy a full price ticket, lying about her age so the system would allow a charge for her. Then, essentially the same thing happened on the return trip. Over $700 just for my daughter when it should have been free. Two months later, after many, many hours on hold, still no refund. Supervisors say they'll call back but never do. What do you expect from an airline that doesn't even offer water for free on the flights? The most unbelievable part is that charging for an infant (under two) is actually against federal law in Mexico, yet they did it and apparently have no intention to issue a refund. Fly this airline enough and you will eventually regret it. I say we need to boycott this airline and hope they go out of business before more people are swindled. (Look up other online reviews and you'll see it's common for them to cancel flights if they're not full but not refund any if the sold tickets. Wow.) read more

I have had the worst experience with this company over the past 5 months. I traveled to Mexico about 5 months ago and had my round trip ticket bought. As i showed up to the airport to return back to Chicago they had told me that they didn't have a seat for me and I had two options on returning home. One was that I had to take a taxi to another part of mexico on my own and than fly back from that airport or that I can wait 3 days to be able to return. I have a job to return to and school I can't just take extra days off just because they don't have a seat for me especially after I paid for my ticket. A complaint was filed and they stated they would provide me with a flight credit but they failed to provide me with a voucher number. I am now trying to purchase a new flight ticket and use my credit but they have terrible customer service. They have hung up on me twice and disconnected my chats. They are just plain useless. Worst company ever. read more

Maybe it's just the way they're set up, but with so many people waiting to board, they definitely felt cramped. Overall, though, getting in, getting around, and getting out was pretty easy. For such a large and busy airport, I didn't have any major issues navigating O'Hare.

Pricing is of course, not of this world and expect a lot of things will be out or take forever. 20 minutes for a basic iced coffee at Caffee Mercato at Noon on a Wednesday? Yepper. I guess it could have been worse. It could have been an International flight which would equaled a commute of miles, insane tight connections that could have only been done via Star Trek transporting or I could have left from a different origin hub which might have bypassed the need for a connection but..... This place is a necessary evil but if possible, avoid.

I had to remind myself that I once flew with Spirit Airlines to New Orleans, Louisiana for crying out loud. And most know that Spirit does not have the best reputation. As for my airport experience, surprisingly, TSA was not crowded at all! Other than my carry-on bag being checked due to me having toothpaste check-in went smooth. At the time, I chuckled with personnel because I knew clearly what it was but leave it to hard-headed me for packing it, hehe. As for the flight gate, it took me forever to find it due to lack of signage. As mentioned, I have never flown JetBlue, so the terminal was one I had never visited. What threw me off was the fact that the only terminal 2 signage I saw was for baggage claim. Eeek! I nearly missed boarding, but I kept on moving until I found the JetBlue gate. Now as for my onboard experience, I wanted to charge my phone as I slept on flight because my phone battery was low. I found that there were no power outlets at all which left me with no other option but to preserve my battery as much as I can enroute. I have to point out that it was unpleasant smelling smoke as the plane prepared to lift off from Chicago, Illinois. It was then, I started to take notice of how outdated everything appeared on this plane as my melatonin kicked in. I slept the majority of the flight, so I had little communication with the flight attendants other than the boarding flight hello, a flight attendant asking me if I wanted a snack as I woke up briefly, and the airplane departure goodbye greeting. And as for the airplane interior, the seat comfort was decent! I did have an acceptable amount of leg room, even with my backpack underneath the seat in front of me. I did love the image of the airplane hovering over states on the seatback television which I could not help but notice while awake. In spite of what the plane did not have, it did have access to XM radio stations & Direct TV channels. I survived this flight with JetBlue and would be open to flying with again, as well as recommending to a friend, relative or colleague after this experience. The rental car, tolls, and Lyft to get to a rental car cost me over $1000. BEWARE- canceling of flights with very little notice is COMMON for this airline. Also plane was dirty (no cleaning between flights).

The second transporter at Denver International was at the gate to meet me and she did get me to where I needed to go but she talked on her phone via ear buds in her native language the entire time and had all she could do to keep the wheelchair from running into the passengers coming the other way. She was a black girl with long blonder braiding. The service was adequate but if I were her employer I would discuss that with her. I had 2 other transporters at Denver who were males and very pleasant. I do want to say this service is awesome and worked seamlessly.
