Everything , they are the worst airline I've ever been on. We flew into Chicago and they may just wait on the tarmac for 45 minutes to an hour. So we missed our flight going first class from Chicago to San Antonio. Then I was unable to get anybody to help me none of the gate agents could do anything I called for a supervisor. Finally, when the supervisor got there he wanted me to fly the next day. I said no I need to get out tonight and I understand there is a flight out 9 o'clock on American reluctantly he got me tickets on the American flight. I will never fly United again read more

The flight was great. The pilot was very nice and funny and so were the flight attendants. The seats were pretty comfortable for economy. It was a short flight and they still gave drinks. But we were delayed for 30 mins. read more

United Airlines has gone from one of the better airlines to the worst. Been flying them for 20+ years and they have fallen to the bottom of the heap. Their average review is now less than 1.9. Short and sweet, I had many problems making a reservation for travel in December and the website would not complete the transaction - got on the phone for over an hour and a half with an agent who could not get it to correct and complete. Finally they made a manual reservation and forced it through. "for my trouble" it was stated that I should just call back once the reservation was finalized and "the notes in the reservation" will allow the next agent to adjust your seats to EXIT ROW further toward the front with no extra charge. I already had preferred seats in row 26 ("haha preferred"). Well, and you probably guessed it, when I called back United as soon as the reservation had been completed and "there are no notes" stating that a seat upgrade would be made. So frustrating and time consuming - the entire process unpleasant, broken promises, lack of service, boarding procedures are non-existent in some airport gates, concourses lack of seating, no amenities, understaffed gates just overall not a good experience to fly United anymore. It's unfortunate I have to fly from South Florida to Chicago often to visit family, and United has direct flights, but not sure if it's even worth it anymore - American and Delta MUCH MUCH MUCH better in so many ways these days. United Airlines new corporate goal seems to be "scam the customer by deleting options on the website, so your customer will be forced to upgrade their ticket or pay excessive fees at the airport counter. Insane that an Economy customer is unable to add a carry on or checked bag prior to check in and is forced to check in at the gate (check out) and get fleeced. I hope others will follow my recommendation and have their travel departments immediately stop using United Airlines for any travel needs. read more

I will not fly or ever recommend this carrier to anyone ever again and this is why... When I was a little girl, I would fly from the West Coast to the East Coast every summer to see my Grandmother. We always flew United. The stewardesses were friendly and gave us little wings that we wore proudly. Our dinner was served on little partitioned trays with real silverware in baggies along with salt & pepper packets. Those were very fond memories that I associated with visiting my grandmother. Back then, you were indeed, the "Friendly Skies". Recently, I bought a Basic Economy ticket to see my grandmother this summer because her health was waning. I understand United's Basic Economy policy; however, when I found out that my grandmother's health had taken a turn for the worse just a week before I was scheduled to fly out, I called to change my ticket, but ran into a brick wall. I called United to request a change of departure date due to the family emergency, but I was denied any ability to change my ticket without losing all of the money I had paid for the original ticket. I told the United representative that my grandmother was dying and I had to fly out asap. I begged her to asked her supervisor if there was any other way to get my flight changed without losing all of my money. At the end, her answer was that I should "buy another ticket to fly out, then come back home and use my original ticket to fly back again". I couldn't believe what I was hearing. In the end, I did not have the money to fly out twice (which again, was an absolutely ridiculous suggestion), so I crossed my fingers hoping that my grandmother could hold on for a couple more days so that I could see her one last time. She passed away just before I got there. Humanity and compassion are sorely missing from the company guidelines at United which has become very obvious by the recent problems they've been having in recent months. I thought United would have re-trained their people to have more common sense than this, to treat each situation with respect and human kindness. The "by-the-book" training and robotic solutions to everything has made United Airline's message loud and clear that this company does NOT care about the people who chose to fly with them. This has been an extremely sad experience for myself and my family and I can never get the time back with my grandmother again. It is absolutely unacceptable and I will not recommend United or fly this carrier ever again. My entire family agree with me as well. I don't expect much in change, but I hope for a better future -- that United will change it's ways and be the leader for a better tomorrow. read more

Confirmation code rec'd over the phone, but no email. Yet. So essentially I have NO idea if this even happened. Every SINGLE time I call, I feel like I'm calling the TSA. Or the IRS. Or some other sort of crazy dysfunctional organization with three heads. And these are the people who are kind of at the front line in our nation's security. I weep for the future. Conclusion: the 'outsourced' employees who are working in some big office building fifteen time zones away are TEN THOUSAND TIMES more adept than their US counterparts. I just got confirmation and have now booked my flight including choosing my seats, thanks to someone who lives across the ocean who probably doesn't get paid a TENTH of her US counterpart. +1 star for that amazingly adept person. UAL, via the merger, is in the process of sucking the life out of CO. I've flown both, and plenty others. Honestly, I avoid UAL and AA like the plague, but was happy with CO until recently. What a mess it has become, and fast. It will be SWA for domestic travel or Jet Blue and plenty of Virgin Atlantic and other non-US carriers for me going forward. Life's too short to be treated the way UAL and AA treat customers. I mean for real, not just that "woke" bs where you can't formulate a logical and informationally accurate comment to support your argument so you just insult the other person or call them names. My United flight was delayed into Chicago and my flight to my final destination left early. So instead of providing customer service, the lady behind the counter at United customer service argued with me then walked away & said, "it's that privilege thing". Well, since I lived in a car with my mom & 3 younger sisters for summer while we were on the run from my dad who was trying to kill my mom I would not say I had any privilege. I DID work hard in school, picked an industry that I knew had lots of jobs - nursing - and dedicated my life to service to others as an RN and now NP. I got great service from United Airlines when flying from PHL to Tulsa, with a connecting flight at O'Hare. I am disabled due to arthritis in both knees and a lower back problem. The person who booked my flight told the airline about my disability and that I would need a wheelchair to get to and from the gates at each airport. United saw to it that my needs were taken care of. And their flight attendants were very good to me, and even expressed interest when I told them I'm an aviation buff. UNITED AIRLINES KEPT ME FROM GETTING HOME TO MY FATHER AFTER HIS HEART ATTACK. My father had a heart attack today, and I needed to get the quickest flight possible to Binghamton, New York. Back in February, electronic tickets were issued to me with a confirmation number. At the time, I could not make the flight, so I called customer service, and they said I could use the tickets at a later date and simply pay a change fee to change the destination. There are few airlines that fly into Binghamton, so I tried to use the tickets tonight, but the Customer Service personnel said they could not find the ticket numbers associated with the confirmation number, for whatever reason. Neither the customer service representative nor the supervisor showed any understanding whatsoever regarding my situation. They were completely unwilling to help me. The supervisor kept asking me for a credit card number, and I did not have one, because the tickets were given to me as a gift from my ex-boyfriend, whom I am no longer in contact with. Although the customer service people could see the confirmation number from the confirmed itinerary, along with the notice that electronic tickets had been issued, they insisted no tickets had been issued. Because of this, I was unable to get home to my father. United Airlines should be ashamed of itself. The lazy. incompetent customer service representatives may have thought they were saving the airline a few dollars by cheating a passenger out of a pair of tickets, but they have brought upon themselves a universe of bad karma. If what goes around comes around, those two United Airlines employees have screwed themselves for life. read more

Granted, we were flying the day after Christmas, but the service sucked. After waiting 45 minutes or so in the Customer Service line in San Francisco (after being at the airport much of the day, facing delay after delay and finally a cancellation of our flight), we were told we could get on standby for a later flight (and wait in customer service line again if we couldn't get on), get confirmed seats on a fight more than 24 hours later, or go down to baggage claim and wait for up to 2 hours for our bags. We opted for the latter. I went to their baggage counter & was told to wait by carousel 4. 2.5 hours later, no bags. Apparently they never even requested that our bags be returned. We once again asked that our bags be returned. A couple hours later, one of the two appeared. The other (which we were told was "on the ramp") made its way to Oregon & didn't arrive at my home until 12/29. Note to self--avoid United like the plague! My original one star review from 9/29/11: What a joke this airline has become. In preparation for flying from Monterey to Cleveland (round trip), we made reservations a couple months in advance through Orbitz. What a mistake that was! Apparently United (or Continental, or whatever the hell they call themselves now) does not honor the seat selections people make on sites like Orbitz. So the day before the flight, I find out (through no effort of the airline or Orbitz) that we didn't get seats together, and that we each got middle seats (neither aisle or window), in spite of what I selected. I spoke face-to-face with a United customer service rep in San Francisco, and he told me that United didn't honor the seat selections made via Orbitz. He also said couldn't assign us seats for our return trip six days later, and that we'd have to call United to do this. I then called United, and after 20 minutes of voice mail hell, the recording told me I'd have to wait until our boarding passes were issued before our seats could be assigned. So sure as Iraq used to be called Mesopotamia, we'll end up in center seats again. United, you suck! read more

On Sunday June 24, 2012 at ~2:30 PM PST I spoke with a United representative to reserve award travel from Los Angeles, CA to Lima, Peru (confirmation #*****). The representative told that it would require 280K miles to book the flight (total for two tickets). I told him that I had 159,353 miles in my account and that my husband had 37,793 in his account. The representative told me that my husband needed to transfer his miles to me and that would give us a combined total of 197,146 and then I could purchase the remaining miles to get us to the 280,000. I went online and purchase 69,000 with one credit card and was about to purchase the remaining 13,854 on another credit card when my husband informed that he couldn't transfer his total miles to me (37,793), like the agent had indicated but that he could only transfer 15,000 per year. I contacted customer service ~10minutes after I had made my initial transaction explaining the situation hoping that customer service would be able to help their customers only to find out that they not only couldn't do what the United agent told us was possible but that also they wouldn't reverse my original transaction of 69,000 miles. I would like for United to either: 1) Refund the money for the 69,000 miles without any penalties or fees so that I can purchase 100,000 miles or 2) Transfer my husband's 37,793 miles to my account like the United agent originally said was possible so we will be able to purchase the ticket (after I purchase an additional 13,854 miles on another credit card. This has been incredibly frustrating and time consuming only to find out that none of what the agent told me was accurate and that no one at United could help me resolve these issues. I am a frequent traveler and long-time United customer (hence fact that I had over 150k miles in my account in the first place). Given that the information was mis-represented to me by a United customer service rep, I hope that you will consider one of the two options that I have identified above. WOW, it doesn't get worse than this. UA cancelled a flight on 3/18, rebooked 3 pax for 3/10 without notification. Pax showed at airport, agents shuffled pax through line for 4-1/2 line without any resolution, agents treated pax with disdain and contempt, ; agent on phone said it was weather (lie, it was crew issue), and therefore could not help, No checking nearby airports by agents, no offer of hotel for stranded pax. Uhh. After dealing with the United Cargo "representatives", I'm ready to charter a private flight to Hawaii instead. Went to the cargo terminal at O'Hare to get some questions answered and buy a crate for my upcoming move to Oahu. When I walked in, the first thing I saw in the dingy was an United employee behind the "Customer Counter" gabbing away on the phone with a big "See Employee at [Dock]" sign. After patiently waiting for her personal call to finish, I asked what crates they have available (per unitedcargo.com), only to be rudely informed that they only sell crates "The Day *OF* the Flight". RED FLAG! Am I supposed to show up at 2AM trying to buy and mark-up a kennel AND get my dog settled for an 8AM flight? Next I tried asking about what crate size I would need (XL or Giant), since my 24" dog has 6" of space above the shoulders in the XL, but if he stretches his neck up it goes up to 32". Even more hostilely and snootily informed that he cannot touch the crate at all! OK witch, so which of the 3 standing positions my 75lb Lab mix considers "normal" do I measure? The upright head forward position, the upright neck upward position, or the stretching for the skyscraper position??? I guess to be on the "safe side" any dog over 30lb must be housed in a crate sized for a Great Dane! This despite my concerns that my dog might be too small to properly balance a Giant crate that is being forklifted. No response from the rep, of course. In addition, as I thank the rep for her ever-so-helpful assistance *sarcasm*, I see her follow me right out the door for a smoke break after a long, hard misuse of her employer's time. Southwest get 6 stars... United gets half of a star... unless you have Premier Elite status (and even then you're treated like baggage), you face bad service, short seats (no legroom), bad seating assignments and rude customer service reps. Not at all impressed by them and wonder how they stay in business at all. United is absolutely the LAST airline that I consider if I have to fly and their reservations system (SHARES) is horrendous. I ordered the United Airlines Explorer credit card. The main reason, they offer free luggage if you have the card. Unfortunately, when I travel my company makes the reservations with the company card. Turns out, you only get free luggage if the ticket was purchased with the United card! So, no free luggage. At American Airlines, I get free luggage with them because I have their card. Doesn't matter how the ticket was purchased. United should offer the same deal as American. read more

Flying the Surly Skies There's no excuse. It isn't customer service, it's abuse. I had the most disdainful condescending service on a United LGA to ORD flight last Thursday. The staff feels they can be obnoxiously rude because they're not accountable. Almost no one wears their badge visibly (or facing foward) so you couldn't report them if you tried. (Though in this case, the rudies of the week were Marcia Barrington and James L. Harper.) And I'm a veteran flyer. An importer who logs tens of thousands of miles a year. I used to be Premier with United, but now I avoid them like the plague. I'll take British Air to Europe, and Cathay Pacific to Asia, just to avoid them (and receive Cathay's stellar service). I now travel with my young baby. It used to be courtesy to let those with infants board first. It still is on many other airlines. Delta was kind enough to block out seats next to us, American gave us bassinets on an overseas flight, so did Turkish Air. United made us (the only infant on the entire plane) wait on the side for 20 min. while they boarded all Premiers, even after 6 Premier flyers requested they let us on first. The boarding agent was very smug and proud of herself for following United protocol. Then when I mentioned my displeasure (apparently so did others before me) to the first class attendant greeting boarders, he was a total snot and complained about me to the lady behind me . . . who is the baby's aunt, and was too furious to speak! (I had bought 3 tickets on the flight, btw.) The Premier flyer next to me (a daily flyer) said she wouldn't fly United in the future, that their behavior was galling. United might as well say they value money above humanity. Not only that, but they have managed to infuriate this flyer (who flew first/business and economy to 5 countries last year . . . none on United). Let's start a Komen effect and vote NO to United with our wallets. Don't fly United! Don't encourage such spectaculary surly service. Maybe when their business dips, they'll start paying attention and send review agents on flights to see how rude the service is and how badly they handle customer service. I invite the United CEO to board one of their flights with me with an infant. Believe me, he'd be embarassed . . . and so would his mother. read more

So I recently won a trip to Puerto Rico, and my company booked our flights great right well it turned out to be the worst experience of my life not because my company did anything but the flight we had turn our trip to hell!! On my way there they left my luggage in Houston, TX on Thursday, we didn't see it again until Saturday the day before we left. yes that right the day before we left. Every time we called they would tell us it was still in Houston and it would be there the next day. I asked to speak to multiple supervisors and was told NO! amazing right hold on its gets better, they told us to get reimbursed it takes 12-15 WEEKS for the necessities that we had to buy like under ware and toothpaste! but hold on there's more, on our way home we go to the check in counter to check our bags and hope they don't get lost again here's the KICKER they charged us $200 bucks because the machine was telling us that we needed a Representative to help us and that REP told us to do it again so we did and swiped our card yet again and a 3rd time and each time it charged our card $50 bucks so when he finally took it upon his time to get us our passes our card that my company gave me to pay for our luggage was declined because all the money was taken... and that oh so WONDERFUL( sarcasm) rep said to me oh no we wouldn't do that, so i call the cc company and yes guys they did do that and the cc company since its prepaid tells me they have 8 business days to claim the money if not they will refund it to us! but in the meantime to get our bags home he said to us well you have to pay the $50 so out comes the debit card yet AGAIN!!!! hold on hold on the last part we were suppose to have a 50 min lay over in Houston yeah that lovely airport yet again and we get there and come to find out our flight home went from leaving at 9:10pm to 10:20 to 10:52 pm and we get on and then the flight attendant is yelling at the whole plane about taking our seats so we can get out of there because we are late, and then they didn't even get our luggage so we have to wait some more! Turns out we didn't even leave for another 50 Min's! YES I SAID IT another 50 min! suppose to be home at 10:37pm didn't land until 1:20am. So i hope everyone reads this and doesn't fly UNITED AIRLINES it was the worst experience i have ever had that is why i only ever fly SOUTHWEST THEY ARE NICE!!!!! read more

No explanation needed other than to say this airline has really bad customer service. Numerous unannounced and unexplained delays. Two gate changes while waiting for my first flight. Estimated time of departure was passed 4 times with no announcement. Missed connecting flight after told how to get to the gate running for 15 minutes. The whole time the status was boarding. Got there at time of departure only to be told they left a minute early and that I was late. Rebooked on a flight two hours later only to get a call from a friend to tell me that flight had been delayed two hours. Not one agent to be found anywhere. No announcement, no explanation and no apologies. An agent showed up an hour after scheduled departure to retrieve some type of paperwork then immediately left and went in a side door down the hall. Inbound flight arrived then they finally made an announcement saying we had to wait for another crew to get off another flight. First announcement all day. Wow, now that's service! read more

I was discriminated against on a recent flight and wanted to share my experience. Oddly enough I wasn't discriminated against based on my gender, race or religion, but rather on my "status" or shall I say, lack thereof. On flight 544 from ORD to LAS on August 31st that was due to depart at 11:55a I witnessed and was subject to what I felt was discrimination. On this flight I had been upgraded to First Class. After takeoff when the female flight attendant went around to take passengers meal preference she bypassed me. I quickly tried getting her attention as she stood at the row right in front of me. It took three times for me ask for her attention before she looked my way. I said "Did you miss my order?" She replied very curtly "No I didn't." She then went back to taking orders but I then took note that based on the list she had she would ask some people and not others. It didn't take long for me to figure out she was asking based on their "status". I could hardly believe what I was seeing. Had she at least acknowledged me in the first instance and let me know she'd be back to get my order I would have understood. On my international flights that I take several times a year they ask what your first choice is and don't [ever] skip over people. This is a far more professional approach. It makes me ask the question, is this the type of customer care experience being taught to United flight attendants? This what you call flying the friendly skies? The bad experience continued. By the time she got around to me my salad choice was no longer available. When the food was being served the couple sitting directly across from me received a salad when he preferred a turkey sandwich. The same female flight attendant went to return it to the galley. Before she did I expressed I would like the salad. Without even acknowledging my request she turned went to the galley and came back with his sandwich. This is down right rude behavior. In my opinion when on board this is not the time to exhibit preferential treatment based on status. There are a number of perks you get as you reach different status levels and so be it. I know because I previously had 1K status and my boyfriend has Global status. read more

We used miles to book a family vacation for 4 back in January. Due to merger of united and continental I called today to confirm our reservations. I was on hold 3 hours!! The good news: we are all confirmed to fly home. The very bad news: only three of us can fly out. My 16 year old daughter does not have a reservation according to their system even though we have a confirmation number. How can that be? The agent could not help us. The supervisor says she cannot help us because the flight wasn't ticketed. What? We did it all online. We are pressing her to help us. It's now at over 4 hours. I had booked my flight on Expedia From Washington Dulles Airport to Amman Jordan connecting through London Heathrow. The reservation was done under BMI with the first flight using a code share with United Airlines. The reservation was made on May 2nd, 2012 and the flight date was June 18th, 2012. The nightmare started at the airport. The first Agent that handed out the Boarding Passes apparently did not know what they were doing. I got assigned the wrong seats in the wrong section of the aircraft. When I noticed the error, I went to a different Agent/Check-in Counter and told her that I had upgraded to Economy+ seating. Her first concern was the bad Boarding Passes (BPs), that had I used them I would have missed my flight. She assured me she would correct the problem and issue new BPs, however, she could not locate my actual reservation and complained there were multiple reservations and no reference to my upgrade to Econ+. She asked if I had proof and I informed her that I had forgotten to print the receipt. Her response was well without proof how am I supposed to give you the seats. The Econ+ upgrade was done by calling United directly. So I proceeded to login to my account on United.com and I pulled up a copy of the receipt on my phone. Her first comment, was she was not wearing glasses and could not see it. I zoomed in and tried to hand her the phone to look at the receipt and her next comment was that they were not allowed to read info from a phone! So she disappears into the back office to check with a supervisor and surprisingly enough my reservation materializes in the system. By that time all the seats in Econ+ were gone with the exception of 2 BROKEN SEATS. She tried her best to find seating and when she finally gave up, she offered me a refund and an upgrade to Business for myself and my 10 and 11 year old daughters. I said ok, I can deal with that. So everything seemed cool after about 1:15 minutes of standing at her counter. So we proceeded to the gate, when I got there I mentioned to the Agent there that I had been offered an upgrade to Business class due to my seats being unavailable, and she proceeded to throw a fit and I felt berated and embarrassed by her attitude. She ranted how the other agent had no authority, that no seats were available in Business Class, I am not allowed to make the upgrade. So I simply said, fine, you screwed up my reservation, I did not ask for an upgrade find my original seats. She did her magic and managed to seat my two daughters together and separate me in a different row. Being how my youngest is scared of take offs I sat with her for the whole flight. Due to exhaustion I fell asleep right away and did not wake up till about 45 minutes before landing. I decided to check on my eldest only to find out that she had been asked to relocate to a different seat to so that a mother and her son could be seated together. So she politely said no problem, come to find out they had given her a Broken SEAT (No TV, No recline and the tray did not fold back into the armrest!) so she spent 8 hours being bored out of her mind and unable to rest or sleep!. When I confronted the flight attendant her response was, oh we were not aware that the seat was broken. Funny the check-in counter agent knew and the flight attendants did NOT. I instructed my 11 year old to wait in her seat until I came to collect her and we would all exit the aircraft together (she was in the front seats of the Econ+ section and would not have blocked any other passengers). When we finally made it to her row, she was gone, I was upset, but said ok, we will see outside the jetway, when we got outside there was no sign of her, so I said ok, maybe she kept walking with the rest of the passengers (Which was very strange). So we walked for about 3 minutes and could not locate her. At this time I was in full Panic Mode, I asked my other daughter to wait on the side and not move and ran back to the gate, one of the ground staff saw me and asked if there was a problem and I informed him that I could not locate my daughter, so he said let's look at the other side of a partition that had another jetway (Maybe for business and First Class) don't know. Sure enough we found her and when I asked her why she went against my instructions and left the aircraft she shocked me by saying the flight attendants had forced her out of her seat saying that she would hold up other passengers and she could not remain on the aircraft after landing so they stood while an 11 year old exited without adult supervision or escort (and this is the most upsetting part of the trip by far). I was livid at the point and swore I would never set foot on another United Flight. I contacted their customer care and after 18 days they sent a general generic apology that did not address any of my concerns and offered me $200 vouchers for each of us. While our flight was more comfortable than US airways and the service was more ample, It was very frustrating when the attendant announced all overhead compartments were full and anyone with baggage now had to have it CHECKED... FOR FREE! Shame on those of us that paid the baggage fee to begin with and checked our bags from the start. read more

I would honestly rate this 0/5 if possible. We all know at this point ( or at least should) that United Airlines is probably one of the worst companies out there. It's important to understand that ,I first of all, would never willingly give United my money in any capacity. But ...my company bought the tickets so I'm stuck. I say stuck because I was supposed to leave on a flight out of Chicago O'hare airport at 6pm. Granted, there was rain. I work in Aviation so upon looking at the position of the aircraft in an app( it never left the airport it was coming from). After about 2-3 hours of rain not letting up I politely asked the gate agent what was the plan and if we were actually going to leave that night( if not we just wanted to know so we could get a hotel as I was working off of little sleep and wasn't intending on an extra 12+ hrs at the airport .) After lying to me about checking on status of things and giving me the run around even after speaking to multiple ramp agents and a manager. They basically couldn't care less and made no qualms hiding it. I have to say, this isn't the first time I experienced a similar situation in regards to United. The best part, was when I challenged the ramp agent and manager and said" We both know that your crew, if it makes it here... is going to want crew rest. So EVEN if the plane makes it, you will have no crew..." her answer was" we are a hub sir, we will call in another crew!" She said haughty, but I responded with" we both know that's bull sh*t and I think it's a shame you have all known this would play out this way and yet, you lie to these poor customers of yours and waste all of our time." Funny, as we left the airport finally( without our bags because that was a whole other issue about bags.) I got another automated message saying the flight was canceled... do yourself a favor... ask yourself before you ever give this company money: do I really need to get to my destination that bad? Because if the answer is yes, choose all other methods including walking. read more

Flight 430 leaving SXM (Saint Maarten, VI) on Saturday 2/18/12 @ 4:45PM, to arrive at IAD Dulles International Airport at 8:45PM, took over 12 hours to arrive. First, we were told that SXM was our of jet fuel, it was suggested that we stay in Saint Maarten, by the pilot, but was told that there were no accomidations in St. Maarten, so the pilot told us that we would fly to San Juan and get room vouchers as well as meal and transportation vouchers. We arrived at San Juan and we were told that there were no rooms available for us. The pilot said we were going to get fuel and because of flying time limitation on the crew, we were going to stay in Miami ans could not fly to IAD. We flew to Miami and we were told that there were no rooms for us in Miami, however, United had found a replacement crew to fly us to Dulles. We were told that we had to clear Customs and Immigration, recheck our bags, go through security and they re board the plane to leave at 11:55PM, but when we arrived at the gate the flight was scheduled ti leave at 12:30 AM. When we boarded the plane at or around 12 midnight, however we sat on the plane at the gate until around 2AM. We landed at IAD (Dulles) at 4AM, 12 hours after we boarded in SXM (St. Maarten). My complaint is that we have not received an apology via mail, we have not been given any compensation for loosing an entire day traveling on a flight that should have taken 4:30 minutes. And we lost the entire Sunday, because we slept most of the day away. On top of everything, we paid a premium price to have a non stop flight. I understand problems occur, however, my complaint is that other than the crews of United, no one has called or email to apologize. My wife and I flew to IAD to Fort Lauderdale Fl, back in December, 2011 and we were delayed for 2 hours and by the time we got home there was an apology email and a $50.00 credit for each of us. There is no wonder United Airlines is in financial trouble. It seems to me that it is because they don't understand that the customer needs to come first.
