I normally don't write bad reviews, but I feel like my experience here wasn't great overall. I was next in line for a walk-in, but they had me move from chair to chair multiple times. The next customer after me was given to the nail tech I was supposed to see because "she was her favorite". They hadn't even asked me if that was okay with me or apologized. They just had me move around. I had a reference photo I wanted to show, but my nail lady only took a glance at it. I wasn't too worried up until the end result. Sadly disappointed with this place. I got my acrylics done 2 Saturday's ago and this first set fell off in the matter of 4 days. I went back and they fixed It, thankfully for free. But again they fell off in the matter of 3 days and not only did they fall off but they were horrible. The acrylic was so thick, and one of them that came off, split my original nail. Went in on a Saturday morning last minute and on a bit of a time crunch. I Didn't think they would have space for my mom and me. They got us in right away. I love the lady that did my toes her name was Van. She was so sweet and did a great job! I will defiantly be back! Super sad that Will is not coming back. I have been going here for over 4years and always has been my go to every two weeks. I would travel out of my way after work to come here. I just am not a fan of how my nails were done last. My pedi was not done by Mai its as if she couldnt do them only the new people could. I was very lost. I have been coming to VK nails for the last 6 years. This was my favorite hidden gem. Back when Will was the owner. They all know me and they know I only come to see Mai. Well, when I found out Will sold it I was disappointed but happy Mai is still here. The new owner or manager is a Will wannabe. And he is a liar. I always call to schedule an appointment with Mai. I called this morning he told me she doesn't work here anymore and she told him she lives in Oakland and doesn't want to commute here anymore. I found that strange because I just saw Mai the day before she said come today. I told him that he lied and said no she's not coming. I walked in today on purpose because she warned me that they new owners are all family and lie to her clients. And long behold who was here doing toes! Mai! I told him I would wait for her. She's doing my toes now! This place is not comfortable anymore it's like a "nail shop" get you in, get your money, act like their your friend but don't care about you. Will and Tracy made this place very comfortable and I hate they sold it. When Mai leaves my business will follow her where ever she goes! And Make sure you get the wax for your heals, wow, it's incredible. I love how Vivian is gentle and takes her time. I just like to keep it real, this place has too many flaws for me. 1. they have a tiny CASH ONLY sign so, you're out of luck if you enjoy the convenience of swiping your card 2. Not enough employees .. they were going back and forth between customers which brings me to my next point 3. There is an ATM a few doors down but save yourself the ATM fee and embarrassment, bring cash beforehand! This place is very small. I think there are about 5 nail tables for your hands and about 5 pedicure chairs plus a child-size pedi chair. It's actually quite nice that it's not a big sweat shop. They don't have a sign-in sheet (like My Nails down the street) so when I walked in I was a little confused. This is my new pedi spot fa sho tho. Although the shop is small, it is very clean! I noticed they have a sink area where they keep cleaned kits together for each new client that comes in. Pedicure: $21 + tip The chairs are pretty comfortable and the massage control is built right into the arm of the chair. they have a large area on the armrest for us ladies with bigger purses. Other than that the chair was a typical pedi chair. Not to sound prejudice but I appreciated how they didn't play that loud oriental music in the background. Instead they had a nice flat screen TV with a chick flick on. My pedi was very relaxing and the manicurist was very professional. My pedi was $21 and even included paraffin wax. I came in on a Thursday so I'm not sure if they do that every day or if it's just that particular day. They of course have the massage stone - MY FAVORITE!!! My feet hadn't had a pedi for over 6 months so I was in dire need. The manicurist made them baby soft again. Honestly, I am torn with VK nails because of my experience yesterday. I got a gel manicure which turned out fantastic. I also got a pedicure, which was okay. I chose a very pretty mint color that didn't seem to work right. I got home and it was extremely faded and blotchy. The women that did my toes didn't do a second coat, nor a top coat & I didn't notice until I got home. I won't be going here for a pedicure any time soon. Will is super awesome and is very good at what he does. You don't HAVE to make an appointment, but you will be waiting a long time to get in...ESPECIALLY on weekends. read more

I've been going to this salon since it opened.I originally started with them back in 2002 in concord and wouldn't go anywhere else! They are my family, always provide the best service, ensure im always satisfied and go above and beyond with appointment times, massages, waxing etc. I would recommend this salon to everyone, for their quality and professionalism. This nail salon is literally awful. How it has 4 and a half stars ... I have no clue. I thought I'd try something new by my house and it was a disaster. I asked for a take off and new set and they denied me. Pushing me to get a fill, saying they can make them look better. I gave in. She does my set and my shape actually looks good until she does the color. I chose a light pink and the paint job I was given was decent...here come the rhinestones. At first they looked great until she put clear gel over the rhinestones and made them look like pearls. I asked her to take them off because I did not like them. She shaved my nail down and painted right over it and now my ring fingers are noticeably bumpy. I was here for 2 and a half hours. So I said Thankyou and how much, and she said $36 plus $2 dollar charge for credit card. $38 dollars for bumpy and poor colored nails. The owner of the shop seen my nails and even her face was a clear indication that they sucked. But she didn't say anything and walked away, not offering to fix them. They're all different lengths and sizes and the shape is mediocre. So upset and is currently waiting at another salon for them to fix this mess. Ladies, save yourselves. DO NOT GO HERE . read more

today I tried something new.. the glitter acrylic. ( very intimidating for 1st timers, esp with so many glitter/color choices) I'm used to getting a full acrylic with just a white french tip or white tip nail. This glitter stuff is all new to me.. The pricing as well! a reg acrylic with french tip paint or white tip nail would cost you anywhere from $25-35 the glitter acrylic will cost you anywhere from $42-50 yeah pretty expensive stuff! however, you do get what you pay for. I picked a light pink glitter with different colored striped designs. ( I uploaded a pic) and its a beauty! I'm very satisfied with it. now, would I spend 50 bucks regularly for nails? hell no! but it is a nice treat once a while.. a fill will be about 30-40 bucks.. ( not your average $15-20 fill ..sad face) my nail tech was Jenny. she's great =) last time when I had the white tip and pink acrylic I had Mai. Everyone is great . read more

Ever since I moved to the CoCo county area 6 months ago I've visited this salon. Im used to the competitiveness of the Sacramento salons, but I like VK Nails. They have a very simple, calm atmosphere. Wonderful gel color selection, and enamel polish is extensive as well. High quality massage chairs are a gem here that must be used! Heavenly. So let's just start with the what I wanted and what I got...obviously not great. I went to this place specifically because they said they do holographic nails and that this wouldn't be a problem. It looks like they painted my nails black and put silver glitter on top. Besides that, the nail person was in such a rush she kept cutting my cuticles. I said "ow" or pulled away at least 10 times and not once did she say sorry. Just kept going. Finally after about the 10th cut I pulled my hand away and asked her to use another file, which annoyed her. Fast forward to this nail disaster, the nail lady had no idea what she was doing. She literally restarted my nails at the very least 6 times which took about an hour extra. I asked if they do holographic nails often and she said yes, obviously not. The owner, who was a man, saw I was upset and asked how he could help but by this time I had no time to start a new color and I didn't want my cuticles hurt again! Two nail ladies came to look at my nails and spoke in another language, i asked if there was a problem and she said "if we speak in *another language* that means it was not for you to hear"The owner tried helping but he kept talking about 4 inches from my face, with no mask, and kept touching me as he talked, rubbing my back and shoulders. Nail lady finally finished painting and left me there. No hand massage, no cleaning up the polish on my fingers, I did that when I got home, nothing. The owner charged me full price still and offered a free manicure next time but even free will not bring me back for that horrible experience. 10/10 does not recommend. read more
