I had a terrible experience here and will not be returning. The nail tech was clearly rushing the entire service and could not execute a simple white French tip. The lines were uneven, sloppy, and not filled in correctly. When I politely asked him to fix them, he became visibly upset and started complaining and cussing instead of correcting the work professionally. Instead of fixing the French tips properly, he angrily added white all over my nails, making them worse, and then proceeded to remove product out of frustration. The entire interaction was uncomfortable, unprofessional, and disrespectful. I expect basic professionalism, especially when paying for a service. If you can't take feedback or perform a standard French tip without getting upset, you shouldn't be working on clients. Save your money and go somewhere else. read more

Made an appointment for a pedicure. Needed one before vacation. My appointment was for 3:30, but got there 15 minutes early. They sat me in the chair around 5 minutes later and had me soaking there until 3:40. A lady came in, without an appointment, and they told heer it would be a half an hour. So the lady, Tanya she said her name was, started my pedicure. She missed half of my toes with the file, didnt trim the cuticles, and was done in 15 minutes. I have never had a pedicure done in 15vminutes. The worst leg massage I have ever had as well. So my take is that they screwed my time for a person who walked in off the street. I wont be going back and I dont recommend this place. What waste of money. read more

So I was having a problem with the nail care I was receiving so I searched for a new local nail shop in Oakley who could also do the designs that I had grown used to from my favorite Concord shop. I took a couple of weeks to decide if I was just going to do them self, travel to Concord or actually try again. I drove up and wondered if I was going to be comfortable here but to my surprise I walked in to an older establishment that was very nicely decorated. I was welcomed immediately and my name was confirmed and escorted to my seat. (No waiting? AMAZING). The lady who prepped my hands to soak off the old nail overlays was amazed at how much product was on each nail. When I confirm that it was from one fill set and one fill, her face matched my feelings of why I made the appointment and I began to relax. Once all the old gel top was shaved off, my hands were prepped in the solution and then I was sat in a spa chair to soak and have my pedicure. There are 2 main choices for pedicure level 1 (A,B, C) and level 2 (Pedi in a Box). I chose the #2 and I'm so glad that I did. #2 came with a choice of scent and I picked lavender for relaxation from ~20 different scents. Then the pedicure started and boy let me tell you its been months since my feet felt and looked this good. Amy is a fantastic technitian and I told her then that I would definitely be back! Once the pedi was over I was moved back to the nail station. I was asked if it was ok for my real nails to be cut down to start over and then the most gentle take off I've ever experienced in life happened. I was in shock. No pain at all from this shop or nail tech! (Yes, Amy did it ALL). Please not that because I wanted a particular shape, the owner Vu did my shaping but Ms Amy did everything else. This shop does design but please let them know when you call to schedule that you would like a design on _# of fingers. I did not know this and backed up their schedule just s bit so I waited a bit but totally understood and appreciated their respect of people's time! All "routine" appointments get 1 hour unless you specify on your call your needs. If they don't know, then they may not have time necessary to complete your desired design. I love my turn out and will continue to patron this nail shop. They are pure professionals and I love my end product. Pricing subject to change: Take off+ cut down + full set + extension tips + pink & glitter ombré + 10 finger design less than $100. Pedicure with design less than $60. Cash tips preferred: $1 fee for charged to credit/debit card. This place is a true diamond! Zero complaints!!! read more

I grew up in the neighborhood right down the street from Oakley shop and center. I've lived here when this was the one and only nail salon in town. Before I could drive I would walk here to use some of my tiny pay check that I earned while working my very first minimum wage job to get my nails done. I've always admired their commitment to their craft and their warm and inviting nature. They never fail on making each and every customer feel important and valued and like they are their favorite client in the world. To me that type of personalized approach is what sticks and what keeps customers coming back year after year. While I did move away for college and go other salons over the course of the 17 years I've been getting my nails professionally done - I've found my way back here again and it's not easy for me to recall why I loved this salon so much to begin with. I don't write many reviews but when and if I do it's because I genuinely believe in the establishment and or the product being referenced. If you have children it's nice because yogurt island is right next door (best yogurt place around ) and you'll also find the best pizza (skippolinis) the most amazing Chinese food (silver river) and the best tacos in town (la costa ) all right here in this same shopping center. I was in search of a new nail salon and this place was highly recommended to me by many in a local facebook group. They all said VU was the best. It was recommended to make an appointment. I called two days prior was able to get in today, Saturday. I was greeted, which is huge. Many salons don't acknowledge you, so this was a big deal to me. And he immediately took me at my scheduled time...another plus! I was impressed with how detail oriented he was. They are all uniform and a nice thickness...just like regular nails. The full set took almost an hour, maybe 50 minutes. I had a full set and gel polish. Cost was $45. I Paid cash but there is a fee to use a credit card. I highly recommend Vu. The owners VU & AMY are the best! I would recommend them any day. I personally like making appointments with Vu for acrylics because he is always down with trying my crazy and complicated ideas and designs. He also PERFECTS the shape, which not a lot of people can do by the way and I've been to more nail spots than the average person. I appreciate the skill that goes into his work. He also gives legit fills. I honestly think he is the only person I know that can hide that ugly line from where the nail grew out. There are two other employees that work at this location, one of them actually worked at the salon BEFORE it was renovated and when it was NOT the business. I usually get my pedicures done by them and never have any problems. If you got them ingrowns tho, I suggest you get down with Amy who my mom prefers. This place is nice and clean especially compared to what it use to be like. Vu also hooked me up with more mood changing colors that I requested! I always make an appointment since this is a small business and that works best and I never have to wait more than 5 minutes if not always on time. My nails always look fabulous and when I get my pedicure it doesn't just look good, my feet feel amazing after all the pampering. The reviews on pedicures here had me feeling confident and comfortable walking in for a service while in town visiting my family. I said that I was wanting nude French tip pink on the whole nail, and I get spray tans so I can't have the scrubs on the legs. I said extra callus remover add on was fine for my feet as needed, just couldn't have it up my legs. When the technician asked me if I was happy with the polish and I saw that she had done French tips, I pointed out that while the lines were well done, I had not asked for a French tip but that she could leave it since she'd already done one foot. I went back to my emails. Once she finished I got up to use the restroom. I noticed upon inspection that my FEET didn't look or feel as pampered as they should have. When I payed, i noticed I was being charged for the French tip that I never asked for. I asked to speak with a manager to discuss the situation. The response has me floored. I was told that 'there is just some skin that won't come off' and was shrugged off as if I was asking for too much for expecting my service to be complete. I didn't even bring up the polish issue at this point, this business owner did not care one bit. Photos below are right when I got back from my 'pedicure' and then once I took a basic pumice stone to the areas I was told were acceptably sloppily serviced. Absolutely ridiculous. read more

I had my nails done by Vu all last year and was pleased with his work. I recently went in after not having nails for a while and got a full set. I picked a light turquoise from a demo he had in the salon. After getting it done I realized it was way darker and uglier than what I picked. I called him three days later and ask him if I could pay to have it removed. He was clearly disturbed about my decision. He would not do it. Told me that all I could do was paint over them. ... OMG - RUN FROM THIS PLACE! I was so excited to get my nails done. I haven't had them professionally done in three years. I ignored the bad reviews and called this salon. It is close to home and I thought if they make me happy, I'll start getting my nails done again. :0) They told me short white nail tip french would be $42 +. It is actually $45+. Why Lie? Whatever, ...right - what's another $3? I said, "Ok." I was still happy to try there. :0) The guy approached, talked to me about what I wanted and sat me at the first chair. Nice start. There was what looked like a dirty towel at his station. It was gross. I'm sorry. That's kind of a red flag at what is supposed to be a sanitary experience. I asked him to please change it out. No attitude. Just what I thought was a simple request. If it was clean, he could have just told me, "It's clean. I changed it out." I would have been reassured. Other salons use paper towels, but every place is different and I'm still happy to be there and willing to move forward. :0) He lifted it up and left. He came back with what looked like the same stained snagged dirty towel. I made a face because it was that gross and it looked like the same towel. Same stain. Same snag. He got up to get another towel and started YELLING at me from the towel station across the salon. When he returned, he went on and on AND ON about how I didn't trust him to change the towel and then gave me a side glare. Seriously. LOL. Is he really mad and glaring at me because I asked him to change out the towel? More red flags. sigh....Dirty towel, bad attitude, angry technician = sloppy, bleeding painful, nail experience with a possible nail infection. No thank you. From where I sat, the bad reviews flooded my brain. The "infected nail" a girl had, "Rude technicians" and "Dirty place" noted from other reviewers. I got two out of three in one sitting. I wasn't going to gamble on getting an infection. - DANG IT! I wanted to be one of the ones that gave this place 5 stars. I was really looking forward to getting my nails done again. It became stressful in three minutes of being in this unprofessional place. I yanked my hand away and left. First Technician: You got your way. I left. After your behavior, you became right. I could not trust you, AT ALL. Not with your bad attitude. Do you know what that funky stained dirty gross towel represents? "What else don't you clean? Are your nail tools dirty too?" No one wants to get their nails done by someone who doesn't keep a clean station and can't control their anger. Note to owner: Toss the old nasty snagged stained, dirty towels away. Other places use paper towels after each client. That ensures a clean towel. It's not that hard. Your first chair nail technician needs anger management classes. I left without getting my nails done because of him, not the bad reviews. No one can trust an angry person with nail files. For all I know, I'd leave bleeding, infected and with gloppy crooked nails. He would have the audacity to charge me. He ruined what was supposed to be a nice experience and one I would tell everyone about. I'll keep my money - minimum $1,250 a year (not including the pedi's or gel nails I would get for special occasions.) Getting nails done is a luxury. I don't need you or it. Too bad. read more
