We found VIVO on Google after searching for restaurants nearby with excellent reviews. We were very pleased with both the service and the food. We had tapas that we shared that were so flavorful and beautifully presented. The atmosphere is really great and it's very noisy but a lot of fun. They also had a wonderful singer which was so enjoyable Our server Melina was excellent too. I'm sorry I forgot to mention her on TripAdvisor and could not edit my review.

Walking the streets of Barcelona and always looking for a great place for tapas, Vivo is definitely a must on your list. We were greeted with a great welcome by Giovanni and we Sat quickly. Ordered beef cheek cannoli, Spanish tortilla, and papa brava. Everything was absolutely delicious and the place is absolutely aesthetically, pleasing with a great vibe. Absolute when in Barcelona.

The indoor seating offers. It's a chic, contemporary setting, for those craving an alfresco experience, there's also the outdoor seating. The DJ spins tunes and on Friday nights a singer walks around taking the atmosphere to a whole new level. As for the food, the dishes we had were delicious, oysters, tenderloin and sea bass carpaccio. The service at Vivo Tapas is great. To top it off, the mixologists at Vivo Tapas are true maestros of their craft. They concocted some of the most creative and refreshing cocktails I've had the pleasure to sip. This place is worth a visit.

The outside of Vivo is so warm and inviting.

This upscale tapas restaurant was simply divine in every way - the food, service, and ambiance were perfect. One of my favorite restaurants in Barcelona, Spain. The pictures speak for themselves! Thank you, Vivo, for best-ever dining experience.

Very good experience. Great service from Luis. After several days of (very good) cafe eating, this super nice restaurant was a treat. Really good food. Great experience. Sat outside on the sidewalk for some nice outdoor dining. However, inside was elegant and enjoyable. Also, the live singer was a surprise treat. Enjoyed her voice as she sang many familiar tunes. Started with some tasty tapas: toasted bread with tomato, Iberian ham, grilled octopus with potato puree, and goat cheese salad. Finished with a fried pork entree. All were tasty. The decor and singing pushed this over the top. Definitely consider them if you are in the neighborhood.

    Calamari in squid ink batter

Vivo Tapas Restaurant Coctelería is a modern restaurant in the ritzy Eixemple neighborhood near Passeig de Gràcia and Casa Milà. The chef here starts with Catalan cuisine as a base and then cuts loose with some modern interpretations and riffs. Cannelloni stuffed with duck with bechamel, parmesan and mushrooms: The crepe is rolled into cannelloni and filled with juicy, tender, shredded duck. The cannelloni is covered with luscious bechamel sauce, oyster mushrooms, and parmesan. The octopus is grilled so that it is tender and meaty at the same time. It is served with smooth potatoes and dusted generously with sweet paprika. The calamari is coated with a thin and crispy black squid ink batter. The wasabi mayonnaise is nice and I can actually taste the squid ink, but don't have the words to describe it. The salmon tartare is fresh and flavorful with the wasabi vinaigrette. The garnishes of roe, scallions, and sesame seeds add texture. The crispy nori chips serve as a nice base for the tartare and make a nice bite.

Restaurant Decor is modern and nice. Definitely one of the more snazzier spots we dined at while in Barcelona. Drinks The espresso martini was amaze! I also had a glass of Sauvignon blanc which was delicious. Food Paella was ok. I've had better. I ordered the paella for myself. The waitress told me it was meant to feed two people, twice. I was ok with it. My boyfriend ordered a burger. The paella was priced at $23 per person. Once we got the check I was charged $46 when I was the only person that ate it. She said bc it's meant to feed two they charged me for two. That makes zero sense when you have it on the menu priced out PER Person. Just bc it can feed two doesn't mean it did. Using that same logic you could've charged us twice for the burger since I had a bite of his. They need to fix that. To me, it was predatory. The burger was ok and it came with like 15 French fries. Overall Wouldn't recommend. Definitely pricey for the same food you could get elsewhere

Got dinner here on my first night in Barca. Was on the way to the Barca vs FC Chelsea game so I stopped by Vivo to get a quick snack. I showed up wearing a Messi jersey, backwards hat, and a Fanny pack - I stuck out like a sore thumb. However, I try not to take myself too seriously :) The vibe here was super chill and classy. The interior was decked out with this enchanting metallic glow (black and gold) with dimly lit lights. Felt really cozy and romantic. The bar was stocked with all the drinks you could ever wish for. There was also a DJ setup in the back - I really wanted to stay to see how Barca throws down, but I had a futbol game to catch! I ordered some aperol (of course, what else) and some tapas (of course, what else). I also got some kind of crusted pork, which I wasn't a huge fan of, but the tapas were great. The owner (I think?) came up to me and asked me where I was from. She was super nice and welcoming. Would definitely check this place out at night. I'm sure it gets craaaaazy here.

    Calamari a la Andalucia

It was a wonder we got a table here within 20 minuted as a walk-in considering this is Barcelona. The ambiance is great, the energy is vibrant and the food is excellent. We were impressed with all the items but when the Calamari a la Andalucia en su tinta (black ink-infused tempura fried squid) arrived, we were stunned. So delicious and original. Giovanni was the most attentive and dynamic waiter we encountered during our whole trip.

very nice starters, perfect meal, I will definitely come back again. I had catalan cream for desert and my friend got chocolate sponge cake, they are both delicious

Mimosa and Kentucky something (can't remember but it's amazing)

5 stars for bar drinks and customer service. We got off plane from NY and just swung in for drinks while we waited for room to open. Looked fancy (and maybe it kinda is) but we were in comfy travel clothes. No worries. Sat at bar, fantastic service and great drinks. Went back last night in Barcelona for a "1st drink, last drink" moment. They were busy for dinner. We sat at bar. Great drinks, great service. We did NOT eat there so don't know about the food. Looked good.

I came around 5pm on a Saturday, and it only took 20 minutes to get in. The bartenders were super friendly and spoke english which was a bonus. Their menu is constantly changing, so I forget the names of the drinks we ordered, but I also ordered a regular old fashion and they nailed it. I noticed another guest being a little rude to one of the bartenders. She was complaining about her drink so they made a new one, and another one after that. Had it been me, I probably would've gave up and asked them to leave lol, but they did not. Instead the opposite, which is very telling of the type of service you'll receive at this place. Overall this was my favorite cocktail bar in Spain, would I go again? Absolutely!

"How did they make this taste like that?" But for enjoying some twists on craft cocktail making? Not so great. Despite a wall full of both rare and classic bottles, most of what's featured on the menu is...eccentric at best. I had two after discussion with the bartender, and both were okay but not what I would enjoy drinking despite having a very broad palate. Although famously ranked by "50 best", this is a lot different than other cocktail bars on that list (I've visited quite a few of them), including the others in Barcelona. Perhaps having hit the number one spot before, they didn't know where to go from there? Nice staff but also missing was bartender banter (at least in English) I've found at most top bars - the bar experience is heavily about that interaction, especially for the solo customer. A positive - drinks are actually cheaper than fancy hotel bars in this city. What they offer *would* be great as a liquid tasting menu and I would return for that. But for full sized cocktails? Meh. Hence the 3 stars. Save it for a date or a "famous bars" crawl, but not for having delicious drinks that tickle the palate while getting the job done.

Wow did we want to give this place 5 stars…read more The bartenders were great and welcoming and the decor was very cool. It is a pleasant place to be physically. All of the cocktails we tried were excellent (we had two more not featured on photos here). We went Sunday 4/19 around open (5pm ish until 7:30 ish). However, our experience was sort of ruined when a female employee came over and chided my wife and two other American patrons we were talking to for being too loud. They weren't being particularly loud and at this point we were the only four people sitting at the bar itself. She was not a bartender (at that time at least) and she completely ruined our vibe with this complaint. She had been eyeing one of the other American patrons we had been talking to before she came over and confronted my wife after she laughed. The bar tenders didn't seem to be aware this happened and when we were closing out they remarked they didn't think we had been loud and that they like their guests to have fun. This female employee apparently didn't get the memo! We sense that perhaps she just dislikes Americans, which would be rich for working at an establishment like this! She also had no issues when a dog other guests brought in barked loudly multiple times, each time silencing the entire bar because the barks were so booming. The other American couple felt the same way -- the stern talking to just ruined the experience for all four of us. So... great spot but our experience was unnecessarily tarnished by a jerk employee!!!
