I heard about Paradiso from a friend and it's one of the world's top 50 bars. It's a bit hidden and has speakeasy vibes as you enter. We waited in line for maybe 10-15 minutes around 6pm and were easily accommodated. They have many interesting drinks and several non-alcoholic options as well. Even the cups and presentation are unique and all have a story! We sat at the bar in the middle and had front row seats to all the action. They change the menu ~15 months. This bar was voted Top 50 bars in the world. If you are visiting Barcelona, this is definitely worth a visit! Do expect a wait time or enter their queue when it opens to expedite that process. We started there one night and there was a long line out the door. We decided not to wait as it was already midnight (late for us!) and come back the next night. I'm glad we did, because there was minimal line and we entered the queue before anyone else, so we were able to enter rather quickly. It was the coolest speakeasy vibe and fun ambiance. We sat at the bar and quickly observed the menu. The menu was lit up, which I thought was pretty unique. It took a little bit of time for the server to assist us, but it was evident she was super busy. My drink came in a skull with a "brain" that was actually edible sorbet. It was vodka and not too strong but also not too sweet. Honestly, I wish I had more! My husband ordered somewhat of an old fashion that he said was the best he ever had. If you are into novelty cocktail bars, Paradiso is definitely a great place to check out! I arrived around 7pm to a decently sized line; my party of 2 didn't get seated until 30-45 minutes afterwards. I did read that there would be QR code for a virtual queue, but we didn't see that option and just ended up waiting in line ourselves. I was worried Paradiso would have a snobby vibe to it, since it is ranked #4 in the world, but that wasn't the case at all! The servers were very friendly and the cocktails were genuinely delicious. There's also a sense of theatre when they present you with their specialty cocktails. For example, I ordered the Gravity cocktail (reminiscent of an espresso martini), and our server brought it in an interesting bowl meant to mimic a black hole and also gave a little background story to the cocktail. They provide menus in Spanish, Catalan, and English. Servers also speak English as well, so communication is not an issue. The interior is gorgeous and and had great moody lighting, there was also a great playlist on with classic pop songs. Their cocktail menu is unique and as previously mentioned, I especially loved their presentation. Most of their drinks are served in some funky cup or bowl, it was so fun seeing the servers bring out other cocktails to other tables. Overall, a 5/5 experience for me! read more

I arrived shortly after they opened at 4 PM and waited in a small line to get in; not because the place was full, but because they were letting people in slowly to give them time to settle in and be served. We got great seats at the bar. Our bartender (David, I think) was very friendly, knowledgeable, and skilled. The menu is a light-up book that has fun illustrations and useful descriptions in it, including flavors, alcohol level, and a drawing of the cocktail itself. I really like when menus show this much info. Our first round was the Subterranium and Atlantide. They were both delicious and interesting flavors. They also came with tiny bites and in interesting glassware. Our second round, the Ramses and Great Gatsby, were similarly interesting, but we liked them a bit less. I came around 5pm on a Saturday, and it only took 20 minutes to get in. The bartenders were super friendly and spoke english which was a bonus. Their menu is constantly changing, so I forget the names of the drinks we ordered, but I also ordered a regular old fashion and they nailed it. I noticed another guest being a little rude to one of the bartenders. She was complaining about her drink so they made a new one, and another one after that. Had it been me, I probably would've gave up and asked them to leave lol, but they did not. Instead the opposite, which is very telling of the type of service you'll receive at this place. Yes, this was one of the best cocktail bars I have ever visited. It was fantastic! The website mentions a QR code for a virtual queue but there was a physical queue before opening time. The wait wasn't bad itself, except the line had several chain smoking teenage girls making the narrow street (really more of an alley) noxious. For a cocktail aficionado, nothing prepares your palate for complex flavors like a bunch of cigarettes. (sarcasm) There are tables outside, but I did not see them in use. The pace of entry is kept slow by a velvet rope allowing only a couple people in at a time. I was twelfth in line at opening time. It took me about 30 minutes to get inside. The upside is that once you get in it is never so crowded that the service is slow. The bartender to customer ratio is high. Especially when seated at the bar, there is plenty of personal attention. The cocktails are delicious. Several include a theatrical performance upon delivery. Fun, great drinks and great service! I am sad to say, they don't accept American Express; a slight inconvenience. More of a novelty stop, this absolutely lovely little space in the old city makes a fine conversation starter / first stop with your date, or a bit of culinary exploration in liquid form. "How did they make this taste like that?" But for enjoying some twists on craft cocktail making? Not so great. Despite a wall full of both rare and classic bottles, most of what's featured on the menu is...eccentric at best. I had two after discussion with the bartender, and both were okay but not what I would enjoy drinking despite having a very broad palate. Although famously ranked by "50 best", this is a lot different than other cocktail bars on that list (I've visited quite a few of them), including the others in Barcelona. Perhaps having hit the number one spot before, they didn't know where to go from there? Nice staff but also missing was bartender banter (at least in English) I've found at most top bars - the bar experience is heavily about that interaction, especially for the solo customer. A positive - drinks are actually cheaper than fancy hotel bars in this city. What they offer *would* be great as a liquid tasting menu and I would return for that. But for full sized cocktails? Meh. Paradiso was ranked as one of the Top 50 Bars in the world, so we had to drop by after eating a dinner around the corner. While it's hidden behind a door that goes through a breadshop, it's really not hard to find because they have a velvet rope where people lineup right outside. We got there around 8:30PM and there was only a couple of people in front of us, so we waited 10 minutes or so before we were ushered inside. By the time we left, the line was down the block, so if you want to avoid long wait times, go earlier in the night. Once we got inside, they provided a complimentary shot of something, dunno what it was, but it was delicious. The decor makes it feel like you are stepping into a jungle of some sort, and it was pretty cool. The menus alone were hella cool, because they lit up so you can read it in the dark. Each of the cocktails have a picture of how it's served, and just sitting across from the bar, you can tell all the time and effort went into planning the menu and how they showcase each particular drink. The drinks we had were good, nothing like mind blowing, but the experience and presentation as a whole was great. The drinks are on the pricier side compared to Barcelona, but actually normal to what we'd spend for lesser cocktails in the Bay Area. I'd recommend coming with a smaller group, maybe 1-4 for a chance to get seated quicker. 1-2 people is perfect and increases your chances of getting a bar seat where you'll have front row action to see the bartenders whip up some jaw-dropping drinks. read more

When I heard this place was the #1 bar in the world, I HAD to stop in. When we first arrived, I was a bit worried since we had a bigger group (7) and you can only wait in a virtual queue. I believe the wait was about 2 hours at first! Luckily, since we had a bigger group we were able to get one of the tables they hadn't used yet and were sat after 2 minutes! Hidden away behind an unsuspecting door is a bright but intimate bar with a number of chairs and tables. It was extremely busy but our servers were super attentive and able to help us out. We got the evolution Negroni, the Tesla, Paradiso Express and Top Gun. Everything was super strong and the presentations were one too remember. Price wise wasn't too bad either. Paid about 100 Euros for 7 drinks. I can understand why people would be upset if they knew about the place before hand but we had a great time since we were visiting! read more

Paradiso is one of the top bars in the world (one of two located in Barcelona, but I enjoyed this one more). The drinks are an experience with each one being presented in such a unique way while also being tasty. First of all, reservations at through a QR code. Come early on weeknights if you want to avoid hour long waits. Although they don't take reservations, I was able to get them because they cancelled my reservations for the Macallan Experience. If you get a chance to do this, do it --I need to go back to try this. Once we were seated at the bar, we were provided a complimentary cocktail right away. Not sure if they do this for everyone or if it was a nice gesture for cancelling our Maccallan reservations, but it was very nice. Thereafter, we went through 3 more cocktails each and was able to try The Cloud (€20), The Great Gatsby (€20), Kryptonita (€17), Ramses (€18), Dry Storm (€21), and Tlaloc (€18). Each cocktail was so unique in its own way that was so special. The cloud and kryptonita were the most interactive, but all the cocktail were complimented with jellies, cheeses, and other bites to pair with the drink. If you're only going to have one drink, I highly recommend the Kryptonita. It comes with a flower bud that literally electrifies your mouth into a tingly and numb sensation. It's difficult to describe, so you just need to experience this for yourself. Seriously such a wild and unique bar experience, which is no wonder they made it to one of the top 50 bars in the world. If I went in knowing nothing about paradiso, I would have thought this is a good bar.. nothing extraordinary for sure. Being the 2022 best bar in the world, we definitely had high expectations. They have a QR code waitlist outside that you scan and can wander around before coming back to your table. We waited around 45 minutes before getting seated inside. Once in, the decor is pretty cool and the lighting creates a nice ambiance. I was surprised that the seating was pretty casual and spread out. We got a nice round table in the corner and ordered some of their signature cocktails. I got the universal sunset which I really enjoyed, and it even came with a tiny chocolate! We were also able to get into the second room, which was a lot smaller. There the bartender made us a drink based on what we described we like - I got something fruity and refreshing which was really great. I would definitely recommend checking this place out! I had both the Great Gatsby (Macallan 12 DC Whiskey, white truffle honey, amaro, lavender essence and smoked with vanilla and chocolate tobacco) and the Universal Sunsey (Bombay Sapphire, Campari, Italicus, yuzu liqueur and red fruit liqueur). We had to wait two hours to enter this swanky speak easy like bar and after waiting 15 minutes to order it took nearly 45 minutes for our drinks to come out. We spent nearly 40 euros on two drinks and notified a lot of the presentation of the drink looks way better on instagram than in real life. My partner and I were lucky enough to get a spot here last Saturday. After putting our name down on the waitlist early in the evening, we spent a few hours trying tapas nearby while waiting for the text that our table was ready. Upon arriving at Paradiso, we were met with really friendly service (luckily, they spoke English). After reviewing the menu in great detail, we ended up getting a few rounds of drinks along with the snacks. Drink-wise, my favorite was the Voyager - delightfully sweet and came with a truffle. My partners favorite was the Kryptonite. The flavors of every drink melded well together and the presentation was so fun and creative! We got there around 11pm and waited about 30min to get in. Marcus was working the line and was very nice and helpful. Pro tip, you can sit at the tables outside and order drinks while you wait to get in. You do not lose your place in mind. Hmmm, stand in line or sit and sip while we wait. Sit please! The entry is through a door that looks like it goes to the kitchen/freezer. It is small inside but a good vibe. Music was good, they played some classics from 80/90's. As for the drinks, wow!!! Just look at the pics. I ate coffee bubbles, my wife had an apple mushroom, and they make a Macallan 12 old smoked fashioned with white truffle honey drizzled manchego cheese! I am a big Scotch whisky fan, so when I heard about their Macallan Experience, I knew that I had to book it. I think they only run them on Thursday evenings, so make sure you plan accordingly. We arrived on time for our booking and were escorted back into their speakeasy room. We were there with one other couple, so it was a very intimate experience. It's a series of 6 mini-cocktail tastings along with nibbles. There's a little bit of blindfolded activity happening during the tasting, so it was a very interactive experience. I really enjoyed it and all the drinks were great. It lasted about 1.5 hours and then we were offered the chance to have a drink in the main bar. I really appreciated that they served a table for us to have drinks, because we all definitely wanted drinks. We were having such a great time with the other couple that we ended up all staying for 3 drinks a piece. I had the Subterranium for my first drink and it was light and fresh. For my second drink, I had the Enigma, which was fruity and refreshing. I loved the presentation of this drink. For my last drink, I had the Secret of Java, which was very good. X had the Great Gatsby, which was very strong and a great old fashioned-themed drink. He also had the Tlaloc, which was just a bit spicy. Others had the Tesla, Kryptonite, and Revival Negroni. All of the drinks were excellently presented and were so much fun. The vibes in the bar were fantastic and it was just a super great time. If you're a Macallan fan, I would recommend paying extra for the Experience. If you're not, then I highly recommend just visiting the bar. We did Dr. Stravinsky and also Sips during our trip - and so did my friend - and we all agreed that Paradiso was the best bar. read more

October 8, 2023. Sunday. Dinner. This bar and combination pastrami sandwich restaurant were voted #1 in the world multiple times. The ranking occurs on the "World's 50 best bars". This bar is open every day of the week, from 3 PM until 2 AM. No line to wait in, just scan the QR code from the poster in front and come back when they text you on WhatsApp. We waited at a nearby bar about a couple of hours before they notified us. There is a working pastrami sandwich shop in front. You enter into the "speakeasy" bar through a fake refrigerator. We were seated at a table in the back of the bar. The bar was gorgeous with curved wooden ceilings, hardwood floors and rainforest-like plants everywhere. Even the men's restroom had a very ornate mirror, see attached photograph. We ordered 2 pastrami sandwiches (15 euros each) from the front. The pastrami tasted fresh and came covered with lots of lettuce and sourdough bread. A very wonderful sandwich. There are a total of 7 pages of cocktails on their colorful menu! Cocktails ranged in price from 10 to 20 euros. Although there was one for 2 people for 32 euros called "On fire". I ended up ordering 2 cocktails: Kriptonite (15 euros) which had Gin Mare and Principe de los Apostoles gin, lemongrass, shisho, Sichuan pepper, and Riboflavin (to make it glow); Supercool martini (14 euros) had Tanqueray 10 distilled with fennel and oregano, dry Moncino vermouth, mustard seed and a cordial olive. I liked the radioactive green color of the Kriptonite, although it tasted on the sweeter side. The Supercool martini tasted wonderful and dry with absolutely no sweetness. My wife ordered the Voyage 1977 for 15 euros. This drink comes in a radar dish with what looks like a gumball at the top. The menu says, "Inspired by the Voyage I and II probes" and lists the drink as, "sweet, fruity, delicate". It contained Ketel One vodka, Amaro Santoni, Italicus, lemon, blueberries and raspberries. The drink itself was a bright pink color, but our waiter failed to tell her to add the gumball looking thing to the liquid. She figured this out after all the liquid was gone. Our waiter seemed hurried and not too friendly. We wished the waiter would have spent more time explaining the drinks to us. We met another group by our table that had been at the previous bar we were waiting at. I talked to the father of this group and he said they were from New York City and had to try out the Paradiso. They told me they had a much better bar in NYC called McSorleys. This was an Irish bar and he showed me a picture on his phone. I would recommend visiting this bar if you are in Barcelona and like cocktails. We didn't wait too long to go inside and although the drinks are a little pricey, they aren't outrageous. Just a caution, most of the drinks are on the sweeter side. Also, order the fresh pastrami sandwich. read more

Wow! Wow! Wow! This place definitely deserves five stars and I can see why this place is a number one ranked bar in the whole world. From the presentation to the drinks, everything was phenomenal. I don't think this place takes reservation so you have to walk up and scan the QR code to get a spot in line. When we first came here it took us about 1 hour before we were able to get inside. You enter in from a freezer door, so I guess it's kinda like a speak easy. The inside isn't really that large. There's a few seats at the bar and a few more scattered around the room. As for the drinks, make sure you get the Tesla drink. I've never seen a drink more interactive than this. The glass reacts with the Tesla coil and it was amazing. Check out my video. I also enjoyed the train drink (forgot what it was called). We got a few other drinks but make sure no matter what you need to get the Tesla drink. I also like how the menu goes from ancient times to the modern times. This place also serves non-alcoholic drinks for people who are the designated drivers. 10 out of 10. By far the best cocktail bar I've ever been to, and I live in New York. The drinks, design and tiny nibbles on the side are brilliant and creative. I've never seen anything like it. The menus are really cool because it's LED lighted menu given how it's dark in the bar. As for ambience definitely top notch! Supposedly this bar is voted #1 as the best bar in the world. Because of the popularity it is also very difficult to get in. You have to get there and reserve a spot on the waitlist via the QR at the location. Some people wait up to an hour and some up to 2-3 hours for a table. Luckily for our occasion it only took an hour or so. There are plenty of bars and restaurants in the area if you want to eat or drink beforehand. I believe they allow a 15 minute grace period. I think what makes this place so cool is the different type of cocktails. Each one is handcrafted and comes with a unique story. The server then informs you on how the drinks was made and how you should consume it. Every drink is presented in a different way to match the story behind it. Paradiso is a unique spot but it's certainly a one time visit for me. All the drinks were too sweet for my taste. I would consider these dessert cocktails based on the sweetness. So if you like super sweet cocktails and more images for your social media then this is the spot for you. If you like traditional cocktails and hate waiting then it is not worth the visit. read more

We made some friends while we waited and ended up having a blast inside but I'm not sure I would do this line again. I would recommend going in earlier. We stopped by around 9ish. It was 2 people at first, then we met 4 other people (all couples) and ended up sitting together by the bar. 1st drink Cronos: Was def not the one. DO NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL. Tasted salty, and totally let me down as I had very high expectations going into the place. 2nd drink Kriptonita: Def worth the hype, this one was yummy and there's a whole choreography when the bartenders serve this one- happens every time. You'll see, I won't tell you ;) 3rd drink TESLA: This one was my favorite, it is served on a cool artifact that mimics electricity running from the base to the drink, COOL. After these drinks, my group started drinking tequila and regular beer, price point is def expensive for Spain- NY prices for sure!!!
