I just had the most bizarre encounter with a young man hawking your wares in my very neighbor-supported, very safe neighborhood. First he more or less scolded me for being tough to reach because I'm rarely home (uh ... sorry, bro?) He then asked me repeatedly "Is this your car?" as he pointed to my driveway; when I wouldn't confirm either way, he proposed that I install an orange wrap on my car; he was barely able to establish eye contact with me. Seriously, this is your pitch, guys? Really? He had to have been only about 20 years old, so I'll forgive him for being clueless. But you guys? Wow, you are obviously bottom feeders. The quality of their equipment is horrible, there is always something not working right. Their customer service is nonexistent, it's hard to get ahold of someone. Highly recommend not using them you'll be stuck in a contract with them and not even know about it because they don't mention anything about it. read more

Just switched from ADT to Vivint and in 72 hours I havr never been more disappointed, frustrated, and less secure in my own home than I do now. The cameras are either NOT working or NOT recording. Customer Service? Forget it, they are rude and unhelpful. I asked more than 20x for a supervisor and they refused. Once I said I was calling my attorney and disconnected the call, they call me back and state that's since I said "attorney " they are TOLD to transfer me to a supervisor. I then sat on hold for almost 2 hours and NEVER got a supervisor. I am DONE! I am ripping out ALL their equipment and going back to ADT. I am still trying to get ahold of a supervisor with NO success. The customer service reps now will not even provide me with their names. They record calls, it's OK I do as well!! read more

Scam. Always have hidden charges more than agreed price. Tried to charge $1.59 more per month as soon as it was installed. I moved and the moving policy said it won't increase price but of course it did. I did a lot of dispute with Vivint with my credit card company. If you call Vivint you are put on hold and even if you get a live person the "manager" will look into it and get back to you which means calling us waste of time. When my 5 year contract is up I'm not going to use them anymore. read more

Update as of 10/1/2021- we received a call from corporate very apologetic to what has happened and what we went through. Although there is nothing they can do about the credit pull they have cancelled our service, removed the equipment and refunded what was already paid. They have made good in what happened. Vivint are crooks.... I had my service on hold until my new home was built, apparently after the time you tell them to Hold they automatically start billing you again no call, no email, no nothing.... Luckily I keep all my credit cards locked until I use them. when vivint tried to start billing me again it would not process.... Again no call, no Email, not a letter... nothing......Then since the payment was "delinquent " they cancelled My service which was best thing that could of happened..... but they sent it to collections, so until I got a collection letter I had zero idea about this.... After an hour in the phone we finally figured what had happened I said to the man do We see an area where we could improve on customer service???? Sad that I have to write another review of this company. I don't know what happened from when we first had gotten the service to now but I guess moral of the story is don't add any service. First and foremost there is a $299 charge that got added to my account for no reason? That $299 needs to be taken off of my citizens pay account immediately. I did not authorize that and that shouldn't be on there. Secondly I bought 2 extra sensors and decided to add them and they don't even work so that was a total waste. The first ones that were initially installed are amazing but these ones are totally different and complete garbage. I paid out of pocket for these and just want to return them and get my money back. Third thing is I added another doorbell camera and it doesn't even work half the time. Actually 2 of my cameras that I added after the fact go off line more times than they are on line. It has nothing to do with my WiFi either because it's a strong connection and very fast. Lastly they won't send someone out to fix this issues without trying to charge me $100 so they expect you to have broken equipment and pay for it month by month unless you pay them. Well I decided I would schedule and try and get it fixed and figure the $100 out and they send out a tech who is not supposed to be at my house!!! If you read my other review he had installed a camera in which I did not authorize so it was in the notes for him not to be there. I mean come on this is horrible customer service and just very portly ran. I will definitely be taking this further and trying to switch if it doesn't get resolved. It's absolutely ridiculous with how many phone calls I've had to make and how much money this has cost me. I think I need to contact the attorney generals office or take it steps further if this doesn't get resolved. Beware so this doesn't happen to you. read more

DO NOT SIGN UP! - TOTAL SCAM Was told by a Ryan Jeffrey that came to my door that being in a lower income neighborhood and disabled they (Vivint) could bundle their service with my cable company and get my payments reduced as well. I diligently asked questions, was told that there was no contract, just a 2 year payment agreement for the equipment that would total between $2k and $2500. My services were never bundled, I called to ask my cable company and they said the were unaware of any such bundle with Vivint and that it was unlikley to even exist because they (my cable co.) have their own smart home security services. Went to cancel several months later when we were moving and were told we were in a 60mo contract! Were never told that. Were told we wouldn't have a contract outside the 2 year agreement for the devices. So pissed! Terrible If you want to be trapped in a contract and never be able to get out of it even after paying off your equipment go with Vivint. I have been trying to cancel with them for past 6 months and they just give you the run around and send you different people over and over again. Just recently I even had the fortiva bank talk to them and show proof that my loan is no longer there but they still want me to pay them 500 dollars. I used to work for Vivint and sold for them for a summer. They are terrible company and just want to rob people of their money and form possible. They will lie to you and say anything to get you to sign the paper. Do not do it. Poor Business practices. You are an alarm company that cannot guarantee its services or its equipment. You and your sales salespeople practice unethical means to get contracts signed and never follow up as they said they would. You can never get customer support long wait times and if you do it is over sea's when you request to speak with someone in the US it doesn't happen though Vivint is based out of Utah. Have complaints especially when it deals with my safety. You are an alarm service you cannot reach when the equipment is not working or any other reason very reassuring to me. Quite possibly the worst security company on the market. They sell faulty equipment that messes with the electrical in your car. When you tell them you no longer want to pay for the equipment they tell you that you that they have to send someone to fix it 5 TIMES. NO THANKS. One electrical problem in my car is enough for me. Not to mention their carbon alarm falsely going off in the middle of the night 2 times....had to smash it with a hammer to get it to stop....the second time I got a bill for 50.00 from the city for false alarm. They refused to refund just for the items that do not work. If I could negatively rate this company I would. I do however plan on being their largest voice of opposition. I purchased their security system back in 2018, was told you pay on the equipment for one year and it is yours. Wasn't told they have a 5 year contract and a penalty clause for early payoff. We never received any paperwork. The reason we got the system is because we were taking care if our 93 year old mother, who had developed dementia. She passed away in July of last year. Just want to get rid of it, it brings sad memories. Contact vivint, they want to charge me early turn in fee. I got a call from this company several times trying to sell me their services. They claimed I did an inquiry and requested a quote from them but I have never even heard of Vivint before. I did a search for the company that I really wanted the quote from and found that when I requested a quote from that company, the link took me to Vivint instead of that companies site! Hijacking another companies potential customers...not illegal, but VERY shady if you ask me!!! That really pisses me off!!! I sat for the 4 hour window to have Vivint install my security system. Changed Dr appointments and Work schedule to accommodate the time frame. One hour before the window ended they called to reschedule. I spoke with multiple people who were supposed to call me back but they never did. They rescheduled me without talking to me, during a time that I am at work. The Customer Service is broken and they certainly don't apologize for it. I canceled my service. Got approached twice by a sales person. We listened it sounded good. But just like everyone has said in the other reviews, they seem helpful and reliable when they sell it to you and then you never hear back from them! We wait on items that weren't in "stock." We wanted the same type of alarm that we already had but somehow they didn't factor door sensors!! How do you not factor door sensors when doing an alarm system. They installed everything and then we realize nothing works. You can set the alarm and walk right out the front door because they never installed the door sensors. We called for months and even tried to reach out to the gentleman who sold us the alarm and never hearing back. We canceled the card. (For other reasons) Once they stop receiving their money low and behold they call us back. They said they never sold us door sensors because they could use our old ones....NO they can't. So after a lot of hassle we basically now have to pay ANOTHER fee to have a functioning alarm system. This company is a total joke. DO NOT USE THEM! Stay very far away. System is so slow My daughter did jumping jacks in front of the Motion Sensor for 14 minutes before it said she was there. So my son and daughter tested the doorbell next. 3 minute lag, alarm design is so bad we walked 26 people past the door sensor and had 8 walking around and the motion sensor indoors didn't alarm. During cancellation, it took 6 calls over 2 days and their process is so difficult it still isn't canceled. During all six escalations to a supervisor, CSR disconnected the call after several minutes on hold(no click to reveal an actual transfer). read more

I've had vivint for LESS than 6 months, I've had to use their app tech support 4 times along with calling in 5 times and speaking to someone to "reset" the system. They finally sent a technician out, after several things going wrong, who helped slightly but a few weeks later the sensors are now falling off my window frames. Just spoke with an employee via application again and they simply said "we don't send techs out for sensor problems. You can use double sided tape or Velcro to re-attach them yourself." NOT MUCH HELP OR CUSTOMER SUPPORT for a falling apart system. Would NOT recommend, wish I had started with a different company. read more

decided to set up the DIY security system (which I didn't sign up for cause I honestly don't trust myself to do so) and now they're saying it'll cost 200$ to install some sensors that stick to walls and connect them to the hub. So that didn't work out well, and come Christmas morning me and my roommate had our tech friend come and the system went off and called the police; I was on the phone with them telling them it's a false alarm and all that and come to find out after the police have been dispatched they can't be recalled on these types of call. So I was then told Vivint (after I have called them in the past updating on my address) sent the police to my old address so luckily we didn't ruin someone else's Christmas morning with the cops and they were redirected to the right address. Now that everything settled the police even said that they need to update my address just in case I need the service to work it will, and they were less then helpful helping me and even hint up multiple times. I wanted the security to feel safe and now I'm just frustrated and don't feel any safer. Don't get read more

im not even going to go into detail because i would be typing a whole story but just know that vivint is the absolute LAST company that should ever be used for security. they shouldnt even be in business. i had them in my retail store for almost 2 years. absolutely horrible customer service. terrible connection quality my cameras and alarm panel would disconnect 24/7 leaving my store completely vulnerable. paying for vivint is literally the exact same as having no security at all. they are 10000% worthless. do not waste your time. i still have yet to find a great company. i have ADT at the moment and its extremely overpriced and the employees are schemey almost as bad as vivint but the service at least works well. i know i had brinks for a short time i was trying to find the business card i had but i remember having a positive experience with brinks. the bill wasnt terrible best customer service i saw and it all worked well. whatever you do stay away from vivint. and if you can, find something better than ADT. it shouldnt be hard. if i could vivint would get negative stars forsure. read more

They'll knock on your door without proper licensing, they are prolific at spamming email, they recently changed their name from APX Alarm to hide from their "F" rating on the BBB, they currently have a "C" rating (terrible), they have faced government action from the states of Oregon, California, Arkansas and Louisiana (check it out on the BBB). I would give zero stars if that were an option. I have had multiple malfunction with the sliding door device that set the alarm off and police showed up at my house. I received a fine from the city every time ( since u used their services for malfunction)and Vivint won't pay for it. For the first 6 months they were charging my account( which u r obligated to have automatic payments) more than the contract rate. I have to call their billing department multiple times and every time they said they fixed the problem but I would still be charged more. This occurred for 6 months. The window brake unit was malfunctioning and while they were over to fix it the police showed up because the tech didn't put the system on test mode. Again I got stuck with another $100 fine from the city that they didn't pay. I don't turn on the alarm system anymore since something always malfunction and I get charged $100 from the city. I'm paying for something that does not work. After all this I still have to wait 2 more years for the contract to be done. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY read more

So, I don't know if Vivint was purchased or what but my experience is different from most others. I saw a Vivint kiosk in Sam's club and everything went fine. Sure, we had to move cameras angles or adjust locations once, but Matt Jameson, area director, and Luke made everything amazing. They were/are so helpful. I paid a bit more for Vivint and I have no problem with that as ADT charged me a ton for no cameras and was soooo rude when I had a problem with a sensor. Honestly, I will stay with them a very long time if customer service stays the same. read more

I love my system! The rep was very knowledgeable and friendly. And it was installed that same day. It was smooth and super easy from beginning to end. Don't sign anything! They will say whatever it takes to get you to sign and there is NO way out, even if the system never does what the sales person said it would. If you have problems or are not happy with their service, they still make you pay and there is absolutely no way to get out of paying the full price all the way to the end of the contract. All I can hope is that nobody else pays good money for such a scam. Awful awful awful. I'm sure when things are running smoothly customers are happy. But the true measure of a company is how they handle problems. THEIR OWN PROBLEMS! I own 3 vacation rentals and I wanted to try out some security and home management systems that would allow me to lock doors, set thermostats remotely. Vivint seemed to be a decent company to try out. The system worked well in the beginning, even though I told the installer that AT@T had bad reception in the area, he installed it anyway. I have issues being able to change things remotely now and they will have to come out and change it to a verizon system. They can be out in 2 weeks. I decided to see what the cancellation of service would be and they let me know it would be $2000 to get out of the 3 year contract I signed, I have been having these issues for one year. The way I see it, if there is an issue that needs to be taken care of, they should respond in a timely manner and 2 weeks out, on a security system, is unsatisfactory. Before you go with Vivint, please look at options that dont require long term contract. This technology is abundant today and there HAS to be better deals. If I were to sell the property, I would still be liable for the attached system. read more

This would be ZERO stars. My alarm goes off when alarm is not armed, just when we open doors or windows. They are giving no directions, I have been calling since February to get an appointment, the appointments have either been cancelled or there was a glitch in the system. I spoke to a supervisor who won't fix the appointment problem. Just rescheduling. You would think they would be concerned with the system failing and the problems with their scheduling they would get someone out asap. But NOPE Not at all, they don't care. Don't get them. Any company that gives you only 4 days to try their product RUN, I should have known better, system malfunctions within 7 days and no one in the company wants to help. All they do is blame You. They want to send out a technician but will only do it 9-5 when we have jobs and can't do those hours. When trying to select a time with scheduling and we couldn't find a time they send someone when they wanted to anyways when they knew we wouldn't be home. Left a note saying they stopped by without our permission. Now we are stuck with this horrible situation! A lawsuit will be pending on these crooks. read more
