Less than a month and I want to run away from Vivint. Can't do to the contract unless I pay over $1000 for equipment fees. Guy came back 2x first was because the doorbell stopped working and getting said a wire was loose, then the doorbell stopped again and now they are saying it's my home wiring, and I need to pay someone to come fix it. No problems before, and if it was the wiring why didn't he say that the first time? If anything is wrong, I think it's the shotty work of installer. Now I'm waiting on a different tech and that is going to be another week before he comes. Meanwhile I am paying for equipment I can't use. Huge mistake to have signed up with Vivint. Years ago we bought a home that had Vivint installed already so we signed a contract so we could utilize all the features the system had to offer in our home. Overall, the service was fine although we didn't like having to sign such a long contract and felt it was a pricey monthly fee. Fast forward 3 years later and we were making an in state move to the Houston area only to discover that not only could we not get out of our contract with Vivint to sign up with the service that was already securing the home we bought. We had to wait for approx. 3 weeks to have our service installed in our new house with NO credit to our account for not having had service, apparently its in the fine print of our contract that we are still liable even if we are not receiving the service. In the process of getting our new service installed we were manipulated into signing yet another contract amendment which we later realized wasn't an amendment for the new house service but additional years added onto our contract! Despite calling countless customer service reps who are smug and have no authority to make any credits or changes to your account we only received a measly $25 credit. We can't even sign up with a new service provider without being obligated to pay 80% of the total contract timeframe or going to collections. This company is taking advantage of the fact that they are not being as heavily regulated by the states they service like the auto insurance companies are. They are trying to get as much out of consumers as they can before they inevitably receive heavier regulations. We have filed a complaint with the better business bureau in the state of Utah (their home locale). We recommend you do the same to eventually stop their "gym" like deceptive contract practices. read more

Just a quick update on my review from a couple years ago. Even though I received a confirmation from Vivint that my account was cancelled and stated within the time allowed, to this day I am still getting billed from their credit collection company. Now if I have everything in writing stating my account was cancelled free and clear, then why the heck am I getting collection notices, calls and a mark on my credit rating. I have turned everything over to Experian to dispute their hit on my account and they did take that off. Maybe I should send them a statement from my contractor that had to fix my walls where they left a huge hole, the door frames where they kept moving the sensors and drilling holes and the cleaning fee to get the greasy handprints off my walls, doors and windows. Zero stars was not an option so i'm leaving one star. I've been a customer for approximately 5 years. My alarm panel has been 'freezing' about once a week for months now. When I call support, they tell me to start troubleshooting they have to reboot the panel. Even though I tell them, if we do that, the problem will go away for a week. They insist they have to start there. So every time we reboot and they tell me that they seem to have fixed the issue. Fast forward about 12 months of dealing with that, I went to cancel my account. They flat our refused. Took me a month, about 20 phone calls and had to be extremely nasty with them to get a supervisor on the phone to get it done. During that call though they told me I'd have to pay off my equipment and that I owed them $500. I refused to pay $500 for equipment that doesn't work and they couldn't provide me anything about how they came up with this round number. Then i insisted we call the lease company I purchased through for them to tell me I paid my equipment off in 2017! So they were trying to get me to pay them $500 for no reason! Seems criminal to me. This system simply doesn't work well. There support is not good at all. There customer service is non-existent. Now I get harassed every week for a mysterious $95 charge that they drummed up and threats of putting on my credit report. My experience is a ZERO star! read more

Whatever you do DO NOT USE Vivint Home Security. They hound you to the ends of the earth to get your business. HOWEVER, when you call for service, ALL of their calls go overseas. You can't understand the rep, the calls break up and when you ask to be transferred stateside they tell you they can't or your call drops. Our brand new system kept getting error messages telling us we we are offline. Not one person from Vivint Home Security reached out to ask if everything was ok. How are we supposed to trust a company that we are using for monitoring fire and break ins if no one reaches out for anything. You will be throwing your money out on so many levels and have absolutely no peace of mind if you use this company. Apparently they have been recently acquired by a larger company and merged. But for the last one month I would have given Vivint 5 stars. We've been customers since 2008 without complaint. A week ago we moved from Las Vegas to Sugar Land and have been trying to get a technician out to install the system in our new home and it's been a nightmare of gigantic proportions. As soon as I knew what our new address was going to be I called Vivint at the end of March to let them know and scheduled the appointment for April 16 for installation. I called them again a week later to confirm all was on track and find out what to do with the existing unit and was told there was no record of our move in their system! The guy explained their operating systems were moving to a new platform so there were some problems. So he goes ahead and makes another appointment only this time the first available is April 23rd between 8am and 11am. I had no choice but to agree. Well, today is April 23rd. At 10:45 am I called the customer service and the guy told me to call back if no one comes by 11 am!!! Really?? you want me to call in 15 minutes?? No problem, I call at 11:10am. This time the agent tells me there is no record of a service ticket for our address and the next available is in 3 weeks!!!!!! BLOODY HELL! If you're telling me I have to be without your security in a new city with a small child for 1 month then I'm telling you I can do without your security. PERIOD I asked for and was transferred to a supervisor Johan who was really nice and polite and tried to help but again all he could do was tell me I'll be getting a phone call within 48 hrs!! That's all, a phone call. I want a technician and all I get promised is a phone call. A few hours later I called again to see if they had any updates for me and was told by Jeff I can only get an appointment for May 6. I asked to speak to a supervisor or manager and was told no one can do anything more for me because no appointments are available. So basically there's nothing I can do. I'm at the mercy of a big business. If I cancel they'll throw all kinds of cancellation fees at me. I have no option but to wait and live with this uncomfortable feeling until Vivint has time to come around and install my system. Good going Vivint. When the time rolls around to renew, do you think I will? Do you think I'm ever going to recommend you? Would prefer -100 stars! Worst experience with any company I have ever dealt with...Customer service sucks, equipment is crap. I had a 30 day trial and the cameras stopped working correctly after 3 days. I called to get equipment pulled and cancel the account before getting locked into a contract, and instead of being cool about it, they had to pull the door lock leaving my home unsecured. I tried to tell them to take the money out of my refund, but they wanted to charge 3 times the value of the equipment. Needless to say, they have to waste their time coming back here to pick it up, which probably costs more than the used lock they are getting. Will never recommend them to anyone, and I hope this company crumbles to the ground. Needless to say, stay far away from these idiots! read more

Overall I like the system and the online format for arming and disarming your home. I think the monitoring is overpriced and I hate the idea of being tied into a contract, but the display panel is cool looking and offers some unique features. When I placed my order the salesperson on the phone confirmed the equipment I requested so that he could make sure the technician was prepared for the install. We scheduled a time for the technician to do the install a few days later in which he would arrive between the hours of 8am and 12pm. I get a call around 11:15 am from the technician saying that he is on his way and that he'd be at my house in 20 - 30 minutes. About 20 minutes later he calls me back stating that he doesn't have the equipment and that he needs to make a stop in Pearland and that doing so would take him about another 30 to 45 minutes which would have put him well outside of the "promised" time window for installation. I had plans so I couldn't wait for him. I asked that he come back later in the day and he was flexible in meeting that request. When I asked him what equipment he needed he said he had to grab basic sensors. I asked him about the cameras and he said that he didn't have those and that he would have to order them. From my conversation with the salesperson on the phone, I assumed he would have prepared the technician to know what he needed for the day. I decided to go with the most basic monitoring option (no cameras or automatic door locks). The technician was nice and did what he had to do. The system has been working okay thus far, but based on some of the other reviews...I'm now super skeptical. I guess that's why the put us into contracts so we have no way out and less need to focus on customer service and retention. read more

Vivint's level of service has taken a nosedive in recent years. I use to happily refer friends and family to them. Now, there is no way I would send them any business. Service calls is over a month out. Then, they either don't show up or arrive outside of the appointment window with no notice. My last customer service interaction was months ago and it was just as bad. I will most likely switch to a new provider once my contract is up. This is the same experience my brother as well as my parents are having with their Vivint service. The change is very unfortunate, they use to be such a great provider. read more

The absolute WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. Literally this is appointment number 4 that gets cancelled. I will spare everyone the long story (Go read the BBB review if you want to hear it.) Here is the short version. Appointment 1- no show. Appointment 2- also no show. Appointment #3 gets cancelled because I called to confirm my appointment & cancelled my services. So they cancelled my work order appointment & rescheduled me to have someone else remove their equipment. Appointment #4 was today & I just got a call to let me know the tech isn't coming. If you call customer service, they just transfer you around to a bunch of people that have no idea what they are doing & apparently cant do anything helpful. Their solution? I am so disappointed in my service with Vivint. I had a motion detector to start malfunctioning after a little over a year into my contract. A week later another one stopped working. I called and was told I had to pay for the detector plus shipping and can install myself... That is a bunch of crap....Or someone would come out and install it for some ridiculous price of $188.00 OR I can have them come out and install free of charge, if I renew my agreement for another 48 months. How in the hell is that free of charge... (REALLY) We don't want you to cancel but your cancellation fee is $940.00. I am having another system installed and will continue to pay them a monthly fee because I want to feel that I am being protected and the company that is supposed to be doing that cares as well. I wish I could put no stars. My complaint has nothing to do with their product but their soliciting. Over the weekend one of your sales associates knocked on our door around 8pm to sell your product. After telling him we were not interesting 10 times and wouldn't leave our door step. That is very inappropriate. We have seen this individual walking around before throughout the neighborhood and it has concerned some of the neighbors. Huge mistake going with this company. HUGE. The control panel is nice, but that's it. Their customer service is terrible. Everything about this company is terrible. They say they're bringing equipment that they don't even have in stock. They charge for installation of outdoor cameras (AT&T does not!). The installation was sloppy with no thought given to aesthetics. The installer was a moron. Their app is so slow that the cameras are useless. Whatever triggers the motion sensor on the cameras is long gone (or potentially already inside your house) by the time the app even opens. If I could give less one star, I would. Vivint came out to our area (Deer Park) two weeks ago, and I went ahead and signed up with them. I chose the 42 month plan vs. the 5 year plan that others decided to go with for some reason. Monthly fee is a bit pricey, but you are getting great equipment! I love having a smart home and knowing that my home is safe. My sales rep was Justin Durfey and he was very professional and super nice. The installation went smooth. They took the time to explain how everything worked. I even called back with one small issue and a request for added equipment, and our installation guy, Tyler Scarpella, came back out quickly and took care of everything! I am very impressed with both the sales and installation professionalism. read more

Don't do it. Deceptive trade practices. Originally, we did not even sign up with Vivint, but instead a company that was purchased BY them. The Vivint technician broke our alarm in our 1st few months of service. After the Vivint technician broke our system, they refused to fix the break unless it was at OUR cost. We refused to pay for their mistake and accepted and paid for inferior service for over one year, with our panel having to be taped up on the wall in order for it to work. The product deteriorated so that after time, it did not work at all. We disconnected it, cancelled the service, and finally stopped paying our monthly bill. Vivint did not accept our cancellation, offered to repair the problem at our cost, and continued billing us. We cancelled in writing when our contract expired (months later and dozens of calls and letters later) per their specific instructions. They continue to bill us and call incessantly. We have written their executive team and service dept. repeatedly with no reply. Only incessant harassing calls. Now they threaten to turn us over to creditors. We have had to hire a lawyer to stop the harassing phone calls, which sometimes are 7 times a day, and to cancel our contract, which we have already demanded on 2 occasions to cancel - - AND which has "officially" expired, anyway! This product did not work after the 1st few months. This is entirely unacceptable, disruptive to our lives, and stressful. STAY AWAY!!! This is our worst purchase ever. They owe us for life disruption, harassment and stress. I wish we could give negative stars. read more

I would not recommend. The main keypad is powered by plugging into the wall socket. It looks bad, and how secure is that? They give you a video camera but refuse to install it. We had damage to a wall during the installation process. 2 months on and we are still waiting for a response from the damage claim department. We have a case number, and we sent pictures. Silence ... It's not all bad. The system is easy to access from the internet. I can arm and disarm with my phone. I love being able to control my AC online as well. ****** BEWARE, DO NOT USE VIVINT ******* We signed a Vivint contract almost 1 yr ago. Brady Martinez was the rep who came to our door. He has been with the company for a long time he told us. This is a hard sell type of deal they make with you in the evening hours at your house. As part of our "special" deal we were to receive a doorbell camera, interior plug in style camera and 2 outdoor cameras. When you sign the contract they tell you the installers are in the neighborhood and they can install same day. This is true for the panel, doorbell and interior camera. However we were told the outdoor cameras come later. Weeks went by and we were told the cameras were on back order over and over again. Now they tell me it was never part of my deal. I have the text messages from Brady the rep where we discuss when the outdoor cameras will be installed and when. These are from the day of the contract and then again not even a month later he tells me they are still on back order. WHY WOULD HE TELL ME THIS IF I WAS NEVER SUPPOSED TO GET THEM?? After sharing the texts with Customer Care a few days ago they said I have to pay extra even with the evidence. They won't even try and work it out, so now it's time to review my experience. Oh and BTW, our doorbell camera still doesn't work right and goes off whenever it feels like it and doesn't go off when someone actually comes to the door. Then just the other day our alarm triggered for the first time. Vivint called us immediately as they should, however they said that the cops will not be going to the house because we didn't have a permit on file. We never even knew we were supposed to have a permit with the local PD?? (which cost $$) It would have been nice to be educated on that matter. I'm trying to get out of the 5 yr contract as we speak. My wife and I have not been pleased. My neighbors who signed up the week they came thru are having the same problems. Will not recommend to anyone. Just a follow-up comparison of Vivint to ADT. ADT retention one me back because I am a cheapskate. I scheduled an upgrade appointment for the 19th and Vivint uninstall for the same day. Vivent sent me an email to confirm my appointment. I clicked the link and they responded, "Thank you for confirming your appointment!" in my browser. Total time from receiving mail to confirmation of confirmed appointment: 5 seconds. I didn't receive a confirmation email from ADT. I did not see anything about an appointment on their site. Today I noticed that the "local office" left me an email at 2pm Friday. I called back, got voicemail, and was told to call the main number. After exactly 15 minutes on the phone, passed between three people, I was told the appointment was canceled because I didn't confirm. I'm still in the queue, waiting for retention, to complain about their approach to customer service and to see if I can ditch them for Vivint. Vivint looks better and better from a customer experience perspective :-) read more

I had a problem with my front door sensor. I contacted a live representative and she was not very nice. She asked me to take pictures of my sensor so that she could see the problem and email it to her. In the meantime, she told me she was had changed somethings on my panel and asked me to check it to see if it was working. Well it wasn't . I stayed online with her for about 45 mins, all for her to tell me my sensor was not covered and I would have to pay for one to be installed. I declined her offer and decided to contact the 1-800 number. When speaking to the customer service rep, Tim (#1529--) , I explained to him everything I told the online rep. I even told him that she changed some things on my account, but he was unable to see anything. He said that he didn't see any changes the other rep made. I then told him about the pictures I sent to her email and how my sensor was not working. I also told me that it did not show a sensor being installed and I would have to purchase one. I explained to him that I watched the entire installation and watched the technicians install everything. He then began to holler at me and tell me I was wrong. I asked him why was he hollering at me and I wanted him employee number and name. I explained once again what my problem was and I demanded he make me an appointment to have an actual technician come to my home to see what the problem was. He soon toned his voice down, made me an appointment and we got off the phone. Two days later a very nice Vivint Tech came out to my home, saw my issue with my front door sensor and he fixed the problem at no cost to me. I thanked him for being so kind and courteous, unlike his colleagues. I will continue to use the service read more

Was great until ONE MONTH AFTER START OF SERVICE. ABSOLUTE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!! Today's experience took the cake! It is 85 degrees here. Thought I would take my toddler for a stroll a couple of blocks down the road to get food. Come back home, my door WILL NOT unlock. I have no diapers, very little water, and no way to get in my house. I have cold food and a screaming toddler who is tired, hungry, and needs more than the couple of ounces of water I have. Vivint says they cant open my front door because the battery is low...ALL OF THEIR EQUIPMENT IS DEFECTIVE. The technicians have come out at least once a month for a year. It is always somwthing with them. After being locked out for an hour, they tell me that there is nothing they can do. I tell them this is child endangerment and negligence. They cannot unlock.my door for me?!??! yea right!!! Everytime I need their system to work....it ALWAYS fails me. Vivint has a long history of non compliance with me. I'm talking months...cameras barely work, dont capture images, doesn't send notifications when it ia supposed to.. Imagine being locked outside your home with a screaming toddler in now 89 degree weather in the shade, barely any water, no diapers, ruined food and snacks. And Vivint does not even apologize. No one will help us get our items fixed. We have equipment that is clearly faulty. It's been over 2 weeks; We had an appointment that was "lost" appointment was lost, no one was able to work with my work schedule. I asked them to mail the equipment and have it here by August 18th which was a Saturday and the date of the original appointment and would give me time to install over the weekend. The thermostat showed up Monday the 20th; the First DAY OF SCHOOL and I am a teacher. So the box sat there until the next weekend. When I opened the box on August 26, there were NO INSTRUCTIONS. On The 28th, I called to get a technician out. They said that someone would be here today, August 29th from 4-8. I left work early to get home in time for my appointment. I was home at 3:57-I waited around until 8:50 when I called to see where my technician was.The first person I spoke to said that my appointment was from 12-4 and I had missed it. I said that I have the transcript of the chat that says it was from 4-8 today, August 29. He put me on hold and the next person I spoke with said that my appointment is really tomorrow the 30th from 4-6. I ' make it home from work a second day in a row by 4. They are unwilling to make my appointment window from 6-8 so that I can be here for the appointment. I have spent more that 10 hours dealing with this issue. Because they cannot be slightly flexible about their schedule, I am without a working thermostat. In Texas. In the summer. It's either over 85 inside or the house is continuously cooling and gets down to 68. This is causing my electric bill to skyrocket as the AC unit doesn't know when to shut off because the product is faulty. It should not take more than 2 weeks to get this problem fixed. This is by far the absolute worst customer service I have ever received. We have been customers form over 3 years. when we have had a problem, it has been resolved over the phone until now when they are unwilling to help us, claiming "company policy" and making zero exceptions for the fact that they are the ones who are in the wrong here and need to work around me this time. I tried it their way. Multiple times and here I am in my too hot/too cold house, researching alternate security companies and warning all who listen that the level of support is less than zero as problems are not solved, they are "escalated" read more
